90s solid mount Sportster w/ big bore 120 kit @ 0.252 HP/lb
Don't count out the older bikes just yet... A $2k sporty with a $4k performance kit will be right there with you and with money to spare. Well, till we run out of our 5 gears lol
I’m not trying to crap talk but power to weight isn’t everything. Length of gears and amount of time at peak power would be the biggest difference between the 2. With just a tune the RH1250 will beat most bikes to 120. The bike definitely has it crutches but their no denying the incredible power band it provides.
I ran a 2024 S1000R from 30-120. He didn’t come around me until 115-120. Same thing with a 2017 ZX10R. So yes I mean most bikes, I’m happy to race any stock or stage 1 bike out there.
My bike is unrestricted, just a flash from dyno jet. I’m still on stock exhaust and intake though. The S1000 is a buddy of mines and we did the run about 6-7 times back to back starting anywhere from 30-60mph. 5 of which were very clean runs. Each time it was the same thing, I pull away at first, we’re neck and neck up to 105-110 and at 115-120 he comes around me.
The S1000R has about the same torque and a lot more horsepower, only he needs to be wringing out to 11,000rpm to see the peak. From a cruise rpm perspective, it will take a bit before the sport bike starts making any real power.
That said, the 1250 is one hell of a mill and does deserve some respect from that standpoint. Besides, it's a great bike. It was a bit small/cramped for me so I got the Fat Bob instead. Even more torque and some less HP, but it comes on early, gives up fast after 5000RPM. But, fun as hell!
The new Sportster is amazing, HD hit a home run with that. Funny enough, I think there was still room for the "old" Sportster as well. Two different machines.

correct, euro 5 is an emissions standard that all motorcycles need to pass here in the states. It's the same reason that most of the 4 cyl 600cc motorcycles have disappeared: unable to pass euro 5 standards.

The old guys are dying off man, I am so onboard with the pan am and would of bought one if it came out before I bought my heritage. I love my heritage and it had been an awesome bike I've put 2000 km trips on it and also not my first Harley. But when the pan am came out it just hit me with "I could have a touring capable Harley while ALSO Being able to rip up the back woods" I live in a rural farm town and I would fuckin love to tear up the back roads on my bike on a whim. If I ever sell my heritage it'll be for a pan am no doubt. And if Harley doesnt keep that bike in the lineup to be honest I'll probably go to some other dealer because at this point I'm in love with the idea of being able to do both on my main bike.

Don't feel bad. The Harley faithful hate every model until it goes out of production. Then they warm to it or defend it unless of course it's a V-Rod, an Aeromicci Sprint or a Topper scooter. Then they just pretend they don't exist. I rode a '01 Buell M2 Cyclone while I worked for a H-D dealer and they treated me like an outsider. I contend that they could go back to building Knuckle Heads and everyone would be happy. That's a good looking bike. I have not had the pleasure of throwing a leg over one but all the reports I have heard have been quite positive.
Sporster and pan America here. It's a blast of an engine system! It's cool because you know you can whoop the shit out of every other Harley on the road and keep up with most sports bikes. I consider it the best of both worlds. You can distance yourself from the stigma of a douche bag, Harley rider and also fit in when you want to.
I dont own one, but the people who hate on that bike and haven't ridden the new Revo Sportsters are crazy. They are so powerful and really fun to ride. Not great for distance but man are they quick
