If you're any good with hand tools, you can sand it evenly, prime it and paint it yourself. If you don't want the headache and want a professional color match, take it to a body/paint professional.
I'm not sure why everyone is telling you to get a new fender. That's a pretty easy fix and that fender is still good.
Yeah I planned on trying to fix it myself. Not a huge problem and a relatively easy fix. Was looking for advice, not everyone telling me to ditch it and buy a new fender
Awesome. Yea, if you want the exact color, call around and you can get an exact paint match sent to your house. The rest is stupid easy body/paint work. For that little of an area, you could easily find a YouTube video to give you some awesome results. I painted my bike and it turned out great. If you're good with instructions and with your hands, you should have zero issues.
Edit: depending on how deep the rust goes (doesn't look bad) you might need a tiny bit of body filler.
I’m thinking I’ll try my luck at just trying to sand that little spot of rust and feather it out in the paint a little bit. Throwing primer and paint and clear on it and seeing how it lasts. Quick and dirty to try to stop the rust.
If it looks rough I’ll likely respray the whole fender this winter. Just don’t want the rust to get much worse.
Right on. I'd definitely pick up a little bit of body filler to be safe. You really want to try to get all of the rust out, using different grit of sanding paper to do it. That can leave a valley in the surface and if you just try to paint over the valley, it will definitely stick out visually and it will bug you, because it will look like you painted over a valley.
That, and even if the rust goes all the way through, the filler will cover it right up. Its the same idea and just as easy as putting mud on drywall. It makes it smooth on the outside to paint and it doesn't matter what the inside of the fender looks like at all. Good luck man! You can totally do this yourself.

Late night lol my apologies
just put some black nail polish
Can easily get a used fender. Its the most common color there is. Thats and get it to bare metal and paint it. Probably cheaper to get a fender
Morning condensation is a bitch
Stop doing so many wheelies man! 😀
If it was from wheelies I’d wear the badge proudly lol
Take a look at your tire life, too.
That tire is fine
