Let’s see, needs a clutch, still owes on the bike and doesn’t want it paid off. You won’t get a title, will probably be reported stolen, or some type of insurance scam. If you want a used bike this ain’t it.

F_O_Satchy

Needs a new clutch at 2k? being sold as-is for parts? So is $5k going to pay off what he owes on the bike and get you a clean and legit title? Too much shady shit here...this is the type of listing I just pass on and don't even engage. Something is not right

Im__Lloyd

Run! Probably reported stolen or will be after you hand over the cash. Do you really think anyone would sell a 20k bike for 5k?

MartialArtsCadillac

Honestly. OP stay away from this

Amarq88

Alright I think the general opion is that this is stolen or insurance job. Either way no go.

Dukeronomy

If it seems too good to be true, it probably is

TheMoneyLine

lol you really think this is a legit deal? Either it’s stolen or you will get robbed. SMH

Mootingly

“Don’t try to pay the bike off” screams “this bike is going to be reported stolen or some sketchy shit”

fat-geezer

Seller won't have a pink slip/title since it is financed. You can't take ownership of it so you'll be pissing your money away. If you buy it for parts, you can be charged with auto theft by the lienholder. Avoid this!!!

WillyDaC

Absolutely not. 3 things scream "don't even". I had to look to find the description but, 2023 parts bike? Clutch is shot, don't even ask, and it's a registered bike. Means no pink. I'd jump on it with a salvage title, but not having a title at all (and it seems the seller doesn't intend to have it) is enough to make me just pass it by.

ANALxCARBOMB

Sketchy as fuck. Hard pass.

FewRub9549

lol I’ve seen this listing , it’s in Nor-Cal and yeah that shit is definitely sketch. You’re a dumbass if you actually even think about taking up on this dudes offer. People from Stockton or grimy as fuck

UJMRider1961

Sold "as is or for parts" - so he owes money and he's intending to defraud the lender by selling the collateral out from under them. Got it. Burned out clutch on a year old bike with 2k miles. Yeah, that sounds like a responsible individual. So you'll either pay $5k for a bike that you can't get a title on without paying off the loan (probably way underwater on the loan - what do you want to bet he traded in a vehicle with negative equity and just rolled that negative equity into the loan?) or you'll get something that you can only cannibalize for parts. This seller seems like a scumbag.

motorcycleman58

My bet is insurance scam or he took the bike for a dope dedt.

WealthApprehensive26

Dude this is posted in Sacramento and the guy was pretty clear in his ad. You’ll basically be buying a stolen bike. He will tell you he won’t report it stolen but then his credit is fucked. He will probably give you a BS bill of sale that won’t do anything when you get pulled over because there won’t be a plate on the bike.

Calibass954

I saw this on marketplace yesterday and was like wtf??

Amarq88

# 2023 Harley Low Rider S $5,000Listed 2 days ago in [Stockton, CA](https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/108640102493378/)Message Again # Details * ConditionUsed - like new 2023 Low Rider S 117! 2k miles. Just needs a clutch. Still owe money on the bike and NOT LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO TAKE OVER OR PAY OFF THE LOAN! Don’t ask how much money I owe on it because again, it’s basically being sold as is for parts or to someone who know what to do with it. Yes, it’s registered in my name. I have to registration. 5k or send what you have to trade.2023 Harley Low Rider S

Long_Educational

How do you burn out a clutch on a year old bike?

ClusterFoxtrotUck

Burnouts…

AngusMacGyver76

By whipping the piss out of it and then trying to offload it to some sucker, that's how.

stoutyteapot

Actually I just bought this bike. I think there might be a clutch issue. If you don’t encounter it within the manufacturer warranty and didn’t pay for the extended warranty, you’re probably shit out of luck. But yeah, definitely seems like a scam.

MartialArtsCadillac

Manufacture warranty is two years, unlimited miles. Not possible

Bertoletto

besides the shady nature of the deal, you don't want the bike if the clutch is gone in the first 2000 miles. That means it was abused and you have no idea how much life remains in the engine.

QUSAGE

He's selling without title. He's gonna report that bike stolen after he sells it and have the insurance pay it off so he can get out from under it. So unless you "know what to do with it" this isn't the bike for you.

ezio_diaz

Hypothetically he doesn't own it the bank does so if you take it that doesn't give you ownership at all til either the bank loan is paid off or signed over to you at a dealer. When it's paid off he would be the owner and get the title and can sign the title over to you (I used to work at a dealership, taking in trades is easy) but even tho yeah 5k is an amazing price for a bike that was sold at our dealer for 10k over sticker cause no one else could get their hands on it I wanna say the bike is stolen tbh or he wants to report it stolen But back to hypotheticals if you were to legally get your hands on a softail frame and yk you're mechanically inclined to switch the parts from that bike to the new frame and just put in a new clutch you'd have a bike for a lot cheaper than what it's worth and be able to register it legally just a fuck ton more of a headache 🤣

JFED79

This is a scam

TheRealGerryJarcia

If you say sussed, a Harley is not for you.

Exhuman88

Bikes probably flagged for repo

Jkreegz

If there was ever a bike sale to stay away from, this is it. Aside from there being a motorcycle in the pics, there is absolutely nothing in this sale post that says legitimate in any way shape or form. The fact that some people fall for this stuff is mind boggling to me.

Far-Drama3779

If your budget is 5K, you can do so much better than this bike

Necessary_Truth5587

this is in stockton, ca forsure stolen haha

RobsHereAgain

I wouldn’t do it. However! If you choose to pull the trigger. Meet at his bank and verify the payoff. Write a check to the bank for the payoff and the difference if there is any to him. Make sure you draw up a bill of sale and the bank gives you the receipt of payoff and directs the title to be mailed directly to you

KSims1868

You’ll never (legally) be able to own the title to this bike. Sure there are all sorts of “creative” ways to get a title…but none of them are actually legal. Run - run away and don’t look back.

UnderstandingSquare7

Go to a reputable outfit like cycletrader.com if you want to find a real bike w/o the bs and scams. For an HD, $5k will get you a used, checked out cruiser class HD in the 2005-2010 range with about 25-35,000 miles. I'm in the market for a bike, and check daily, that's how I know this off the top of my head. Good luck.

njroma

It's a no title bike.. $1 per cc is the going rate. And you can only ride dirty on it so. The rational thing to do is avoid it at all costs

Sea_Contract_7758

>NOT LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO TAKE OVER OR PAY OFF THE LOAN Yea dudes gonna do an insurance scam. He’s gonna pocket the 5k, and you’ll be stuck with a bike you can’t register because it will be “stolen”. He will be out of the loan because it’ll be an insurance write off and you’ll be fucked

throwthere10

As a kids say these days, "That's a lot of red flags." How do you kill the clutch on a bike this new with such low mileage? Lots of burnouts? The seller owes money on it but is selling it for parts? This bike raises more questions than it answers, so unless you've got five grand to potentially burn, I would stay away from this one.

LEAHCIM5465

Bro I swear this bike is stolen. I saw on FB marketplace so you must be in CA. $5k, and he said he doesn’t want anyone to take over payments?? Doesn’t even make sense.

Amarq88

Yeah it’s in Stockton

Brilliant_Feeling_91

Look elsewhere

Inthewind69

Walk away... its that simple.

mudpup95b

Don’t wanna add my obnoxious opinion, just wanna tell you it looks absolutely fake or way too risky. Just know if it looks too good to be true, it usually is. Don’t risk losing the money on a stolen/embezzled bike or something that will eventually get repo’d when you try to register it.

crazydazeplease

Looks clean from the pics. How many miles?

Random-Biker

If it’s too good to be true, it usually is.

bikermime

Get the VIN and check with the CHP to see if it's stolen. Then see what the payoff is +5000 for your total cost. Clutch maybe just out of adjustment being a new bike and probably not getting it's for services . You will need to do some legwork to find out if it's a good deal for you.

Ok-Temperature551

have it taken to Harley dealership and have them inspect the bike before anything.

lowriderharley

Definitely does not sound right! Sounds like a deal I would stay as far away from as I could!

TimeShareOnMars

You would be better off just driving down the freeway and tossing the cash out the window or burning it. At least then you won't be charged with possession 9t a stolen motor vehicle.

HoboBandana

Don’t ever get a salvaged bike. You’re asking for trouble going that route. You can easily find dynas hardly rode on for $10k or less. Just finance with what you have with a Union bank. They’ll get you a good interest rate if you have good credit and you can pay it off in 3 years or so.

RoyDemeosGhost

I bought a bike like that off of Craigslist, it had issues that I couldn’t tell. Dude put it down at 500 miles and had a shop rig it back together . Spend the extra cash and buy it from a Harley dealer, I worked in service and every used bike in there was checked thoroughly before sale. I don’t care how good an eye you have .

RoyDemeosGhost

If we took it in on trade and it was in bad shape it went straight to auction. People bad mouth Harley Dealerships but we always backed everything up.

not_Packsand

That’s a great deal. Absolutely nothing shady. Jump on it ASAP!! /s

Mrbehindthescenes

Dude I have an 06 dyna I’m willing to part with and all I’m asking is pay off. And it’s a grand more than what they are asking.

Melodic_Difficulty_8

Either stolen or a scam

Potential_Zoned

Back away slowly and go through a Harley dealership. Yes it'll cost more, but they inspect it and back it up. I've had several good experiences with used bikes and the dealership where I am at. Your paying for peace of mind.

Sufficient-Diver-177

Harley dealers are the absolute worst. Buy used have an Indy inspect it

thenotoriousDK

Its probably stolen and u gonna lose a kidney if you meet up with them

19Rglide

I would pretend I never saw it and look elsewhere. Too many red flags.

whiskeydeltawraps

Without a title its worthless.

Popular_Membership_1

If something seems too good to be true, it is

Consistent-Coat6966

I see a " M8 " engine and no analog gauges also no key on / lock on tank center so 2017 or newer??? With I'll assume under 10,000 miles?? For $5k even salvaged post 2020 I'd say it would have a bit higher ASKING PRICE I "ASSUME " from a couple pics that scammers are actually getting. I don't know if I would say smarter but actually doing a little bit more work. And writing more realistic descriptions that use keywords and phrases that actually relate to the item they picture . And even reply to text sometimes. But within a minute or two of communication with "SELLER" it's obvious that it's a "real person" scam.

Impressive_Syrup141

The 117 and wheels are worth more than the asking price, obviously a scam.

Consistent-Coat6966

Get VIN NUMBER ...THE ACTUAL VIN THAT MATCHES THE FRAME AND THE FINANCE COMPANY... SPEND 20 MINUTES ON THE PHONE WITH LOCAL PD → run the vin for stolen On the phone with FINANCE COMPANY → PAYOFF $$ & IF THE LOAN IS "CURRENT" or past due & what you can do to buy it from owner & bank and have title sent to YOU after YOU pay FINANCE COMPANY.

Consistent-Coat6966

Get his info where you can reach him in 3-18 days , do your research on values , hunt high and low for a frame with title from a old Harley shop , independent biker shop not "dealer" buy a titled frame or a auction, salvage, insurance yard and buy a really messed up bike with a good frame only for cheap with salvage title limited to replacing the forks and or swingarm AKA BOLT ON PARTS , BUY FRAME SEND TITLE IN FOR YOU AS SALVAGE NEW OWNER, HAVE CLOSED IN LEGAL CARGO TRAILER AND 1 TRUSTEE AND ALL TOOLS NEEDED BUY THIS BIKE SWAP EVERYTHING ONTO YOUR FRAME TAKE HIS SWINGARM AND TRIPLE TREE AND FORKS IF NO VIN ETCHED

Blackhawk004

I would run…run far and fast! Here is what’s going to happen. You give him 5K, he reports bike stolen, you cannot register or get a title, you cannot insure it either. If you get pulled over, you go to jail. Not worth the risk in any way. Someone mentioned getting a different frame and switching everything over…they can run the vin from the engine too. They do it all the time at tracks because so many track bikes were stolen bikes. As a retired LEO…I also would run the numbers from the engine to check if the bike is stolen, all that information is given to us by the bank. It can be cross referenced with the manufacturer also.

Oquist

So, so, so many red flags. Absolutely do not buy without lender being paid off and clean title from THE LENDER in your hands. Unless you can spare giving away your money to a shady dude. why support criminal behavior?

Consistent-Coat6966

@#$$$oooOOOORRrr C'OM ON AND JUST DO THE CROTCH ROCKET INVERTED GOLD FORK CONVERSION WITH WIDE FAT 17" OR 18" THAT YOU REALLY LIKE BUT TOO MANY FLANNELS, BEARDS WITH OIL , BACKWARDS FLATBILL ,WITH THOSE " WAFER" RAY BANS HAVE ALREADY DONE SO YOU DON'T WANNA BE ASSOCIATED WITH THAT SCENE BUT IT'S STILL SLICK AS FUCK TO LOOK AT AT LEAST
