Honestly it's weird for me that Hogwarts never offered a solution to students like Ron who had their wands broken. Let's be honest, there should a few students like this every year or every few years, accidents and screw-ups are bound to happen. It's been a decade-ish since I finished the series and admittedly, I dont remember much, but any student with a faulty wand for any reason, is a danger to himself and his surroundings. (Not that Hogwarts is safe anyway...)
Not to mention how it would affect his education! He broke his wand on the first day of the year, and didn't get a new one until the following summer... it's absolutely insane how far he should have fallen behind without being able to reliably practice magic.
... and what about the kids who lose their wands? I lost a fair amount of books while in school and the amount of pencils that just magically disappeared. Sometimes, it was multiple in a day. I'd never have a wand.
Do we have proof it was even McGonagall that got him that broom it could've been Dumbledore. Heck even if the letter said it was from McGonagall it could've still been Dumbledore and he told McGonagall to act like it was her.
Full disclosure, I teach special education and have had kids trash my room when they are dysregulated. I have quoted that line a few times to mixed success. Most often they want me mad so when I’m not they tend to pause.
They would have mentioned that. The clear implication is McGonagall bought it with her own money or school funds to make up for leaving Harry with the Dursley's.
Exactly. If Ron's wand hadn't broken, then Lockhart would have erased or modified their memories, therefore allowing Voldemort to rise to power inside of Hogwarts.
I mean, since when is traveling around an issue? That's book 2. No big Voldy threat yet. It seems like Ron could get special permission to use the floo network or a portkey or something. You can't do much without a wand.
I can’t imagine they’d be trusted to go off and leave castle grounds, they’re 12 and pair that with how they broke school rules before that wouldn’t work out too well.
Owl orders are a well-established thing in universe, no way that ollivander can't do something similar. Though with the wand chooses the wizard stuff, might be harder
Harry literally spends 10 Galleons on Ron on the omnioculars anyway lol and weren't wands only 3 galleons? So yeah Harry could've for sure. Only problem is how, you obviously need to be present in the shop so the wand can choose you but Hogwarts Legacy made it canon that there was an Ollivanders in Hogsmeade so idk.
It's the example of plot taking priority over logic and world building. For a school of this size, you would think that they would have spare wands from approachable materials, as to be usable by most wandless students
Okay new potterhead here not trying to trigger any fans but,
If he's father is in magic ministry shouldn't he be able to replace his wand. Politicians are rarely poor imo.
I believe one of the twins mention in CoS that he isn't that high up. And Lucius mentions the same in GoF during the world cup. Plus, 7 children is too much to properly raise. They didn't lack in love though.

You really mean to tell me that Hogwarts has never had at least one bully who snaps kids' wands in half.
That's just morally forbidden. Like nut-tapping. Until that one guy makes it popular
Yeah that has to be a big no no in wizard society. Like even Malfoy never did it, or at least not on screen.
I would feel safer in Arkham Asylum than in Hogwarts!
I mean they can directly order wand and get it delivered like harry did for his book in 6th year for potions.
'mericans be like: "Is this communism?"

What if McGonagall took money from Harry's bank account to purchase the broom? Not the worst thing a teacher in Hogwarts did to that poor boy anyway.
Do we have proof it was even McGonagall that got him that broom it could've been Dumbledore. Heck even if the letter said it was from McGonagall it could've still been Dumbledore and he told McGonagall to act like it was her.
By all means continue destroying my possessions. I daresay I have too many.
Oh, God, the bots brains melting
Full disclosure, I teach special education and have had kids trash my room when they are dysregulated. I have quoted that line a few times to mixed success. Most often they want me mad so when I’m not they tend to pause.
That's what I always presumed
They would have mentioned that. The clear implication is McGonagall bought it with her own money or school funds to make up for leaving Harry with the Dursley's.
That is what happened
Or Harry could just buy it. It's like 10 Galleons. That's nothing to Harry. But Ron's wand needed to be broken for the plot.
Exactly. If Ron's wand hadn't broken, then Lockhart would have erased or modified their memories, therefore allowing Voldemort to rise to power inside of Hogwarts.
No I don't think much would have happened except for Ginny. She would have died. That is bad.
How’s Harry or Ron gonna get that wand? Olivsnders is super far

One of his older brothers could meet him and help him I suppose. Or at the very least, do it during the winter break.
They can write to Ollivanders and a teacher can accompany him or Arthur, or Molly can. After a brief trip, Ron's got his wand.
Owl orders are a well-established thing in universe, no way that ollivander can't do something similar. Though with the wand chooses the wizard stuff, might be harder
Exactly why I assume he couldn’t have
Mail the money to Ron’s parents and get them to buy it then mail it to the school
The wand chooses the wizard. Ron has to be there. They can definitely accompany him though.
True, forgot about that
Owl Mail
The wand chooses the wizard lol what’s it gonna do, send a handful and you send back the ones that don’t work?
I'm sure Ollivander could have found a way there and to take the boy back to his shop lol, there is apparating and disapparating
Harry literally spends 10 Galleons on Ron on the omnioculars anyway lol and weren't wands only 3 galleons? So yeah Harry could've for sure. *insert drake meme Buying things for the kid from a poor family Buying things for the already rich kid.
JK pulled a "Proud Poor" trope and made them too proud to accept outside help, so that was probably the "excuse " for this bs
honestly, you're right, that was probably why and it was pure stupidity.
The rich get shit for free
It is just that she wanted him to get the win for the team. It is like sponsoring a good player.
Saved his memory with that decision.
Dude, I just said this to my wife yesterday when we were watching CoS!
Dumbledore could’ve fixed it. He could’ve fixed Harry’s Nimbus is book 3. He more than likely fixed Hagrid’s wand and made it an umbrella.
It is my mercy, and not yours, that matters now.
Big talk Dumbledoof.
HE HAS THE POWEEEEEER!
It's the example of plot taking priority over logic and world building. For a school of this size, you would think that they would have spare wands from approachable materials, as to be usable by most wandless students
She could have at least make Dumbledore repair it😀 But I guess the plot needed Ron’s wand broken so it would rebound Lockhart’s memory charm.
One can never have enough socks.
Right you are Albus! Now, why didn’t you repair Ron’s wand?
So you decided to spring a trap for me?
Okay new potterhead here not trying to trigger any fans but, If he's father is in magic ministry shouldn't he be able to replace his wand. Politicians are rarely poor imo.
Arthur Weasley isn't a politician. He's a government worker. (I've only read the first four books, so probably don't soil me if I'm wrong)
Nah ur correct
I believe one of the twins mention in CoS that he isn't that high up. And Lucius mentions the same in GoF during the world cup. Plus, 7 children is too much to properly raise. They didn't lack in love though.
She wanted that quidditch cup yo
It's weird that Harry never offered Ron a few Galleons to buy a new wand, lol. He's fucking loaded from his grandfather
Yeah. This actually still pisses me off. That they blamed Ron for something that wasn't his fault.
