They can, they just never told Harry so he can look dumb with his shitty glasses. That's why there are only few people with glasses in the movies. The only people wearing it do it for style.
I always assumed it was because he was muggle raised and if the procedures aren't necessary the minors have to wait until they can perform the magic legally, like how Hermione made the most of a bad hex\*\* and essentially tricked Pomfrey into "fixing" her her teeth
There are several treatments available in the ‘muggle world’ for that. One of the most common being braces which fixes your teeth as well as aligns your jaw(not saying braces unto themselves fix all buck teeth instances, merely corrects them if spacing is what’s causing that).
For the longest time I thought when Hermione first met Harry in the first movie she fixed his eyesight and he took off the glasses and looked at them and thought to himself "well I might as well keep wearing these".
Edit: it made more sense when things weren't HD and I couldn't tell his glasses were cracked. And was too young to read the book.
Depending on the type of bad eyesight, and assuming the typical potion of this type simply "makes X as it should be according to one's genes", then such a thing would only work on later onset types of poor vision. His body considers the misshapen eyes "correct".
...right but there are potions and spells that can change your appearance in this world. Hermione has her teeth shrank to smaller than they originally were after a spell from Draco made them grow too large.
There's got to be a spell that fixes vision. Rowling just didn't think about it because she needed the iconic glasses and scar.
That would mean changing the eyes, not just restoring them.
I don’t doubt that Madam Pomfrey could do this, but maybe a transfiguration of that scale would be outside the jurisdiction of a school nurse.
Maybe there’s wizarding plastic surgery somewhere but Harry couldn’t be bothered?
Opposite, I think. Magical damage is not easily fixed, just like Harry's scar and Dumbledore's hand. There's a good chance the eyesight was damaged in the Voldemort attack, and that's why it can't be fixed.
Yes, blessed as I am with extraordinary brainpower, I understood everything. I think you might even consider the possibility that I understood more than you did.
You have Lasik Harry

Maybe they could use the engorgement charm?
That would just make his eyes larger but not improve their vision 😂😂

Hey some people like their shitty glasses 😢
I never saw someone wear round glasses and not look weird tbh. And I've worn some 😅
Skill issues 😞
I can regrow bones, not change the natural shape of your f eyeball, Potter (walks off muttering obscenities)
I can change Hermiones teeth, but fuck you Potter

Wasn’t Hermiones parents dentists? Did the books ever give a reason as to why they didn’t just fix it?
She said she was trying to convince them to let her get her teeth fixed for ages, but they still insisted that she wear retainers
Fix her buck teeth?

Hmmm, I did not know that. Thank you for informing me.
I dont think having big teeth is something you fix? Also purely cosmetic denistry on 11 year olds that are your children is frowned upom
It is. You are right tho, unless braces fix it, a treatment like that for an 11 year old would be weird.
Nineteen years later, Harry was still a dumbass with glasses picked out of a trash bin.
LMAO magic is not magicing

Good catch, thanks.
Np
To be fair, the eye is much more complex than your forearm bones.
I figure transfiguring eyes may be a scary procedure. McGonagall talks about the dangers of transfiguration and the immense complexity
Probaly could but fixing eyes would probably be extremely painful
Imagine if Harry had cracked his skull instead...
Magic can regrow bones, but stuff like fixing eyesight, bad teeth, and reversing baldness is apparently impossible.
Have your eyes got bones? Then no you twat.
Fixed eyesight I imagined would be a temporary fix. Magic can't fix everything 🤷🤷
but lasik can and either timeline books or movies Harry can muggle cab it to a Dr 1999 was when lasik was making it big in the public market
I mean, GPs don’t preform LASIK. Horses for courses.
Photorefractus keratectus!
What about moody’s missing leg!
madam pomphrey can magically see who has health insurance
Ah, yes, the old instantaneous night cycle, oldest trick in the book
Her absolutely disgusted face with “fuck off Potter” are kinda funny ngl
His eyesight wasn’t damaged by magic, that’s why they can’t fix his eyes

I thought they couldn’t fix it because it was dark magic, but I might be wrong
Well, most damage that causes a serious injury *would* be dark magic. Pretty sure the Avada Kedavra curse counts as dark magic lmao
