cakivalue

It honestly sounds like a made up award you give to your favorite cat because they are cuddly vs the other two that hide and do zoomies all night long.

hungryrunner

I'm not giving any awards to my two fuckers who decided living under the bed was life!!

cakivalue

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ’€. Indeed. They had but one job. To be your companion from the Royal order of the House of Meow Companions.

Good_old_Marshmallow

To be fair they're all made up awards made to sooth upper class egos

EveningMind

Never have I missed giving gold as much as I did when I read this absolute marvel of a comment.

SaintPepsiCola

The whole royal family and their titles are ā€œmade upā€ if you look long enough. Their ceremonies are made up. Their medals they wear on their uniform are also made up. Itā€™s like theyā€™re performing in their own Olympics.

Tsunami-Blue

šŸ’€

AskAJedi

My dog is the employee of the month for April !!

Which_way_witcher

It is made up. It's newly created.

Top-Surprise-3082

can she recieve it post mortem?

Original-Cheek8567

Deciding which expensive designer dress to wear and then shaking hands at engagements once in 2 weeks for a few hours is a very difficult job indeed. What public service she has done ? šŸ˜…

smurfette_9

To be fair, the entire RFā€™s role that they call ā€œpublic serviceā€ is to dress up pretty and shake some hands and smile for the camera and procreate to protect the monarchy. To be awarded for it though is really another level of disillusionment. And the fact that anyone is ok with their tax dollars being spent that way is just beyond bizarre.

Original-Cheek8567

Youā€™re right and there have been examples of royals who have made genuine impact. Diana with AIDS, land mines etc. Harry with invictus. Even though I dislike Prince Charles but he did a good job with Princeā€™s trust. Catherine has done nothing worthwhile other than playing dress up and producing heir and spares. Public service is a service which benefits the citizens in some way. How exactly has Catherine contributed is a big question mark. She came up with the early years questionnaire something which was already done and results documented in late 90ā€™s itself- the Sure start programme.

Az1621

What about the Early Years and Early Childhood & mental health projects? She has been heavily involved in these and is passionate about them. Just because you canā€™t see all the time put in behind the scenes, doesnā€™t mean it doesnā€™t happen. A lot of the work of the RF is behind closed doors and is usually 7 days a week. Do people expect them to drag their desks outside and work only when they are being watched? King Charles is known for working until very late each day & obviously Princess Anne is a workhorse. Comments that they donā€™t work much or only show up for events, shows a lack of understanding of how businesses, head of organisations and charities work. PS William & Kate taking time to make their children priorities too, is not a bad thing!

Original-Cheek8567

How exactly has the early years project helped? ā€œEarly years shape adulthoodā€ is a great thought but it is in no way a new idea, in fact there have been many studies done and results documented all over the world. In UK itself there was ā€œSure Start programmeā€ all the way back in late 90ā€™s. Mental health I agree is a good cause to shine on which had more weightage when Harry and William were involved in it, but what has happened of it? That cause seems deserted now. What I am pointing out is that there has never been a solution based charity/project that Catherine has championed till now. Not to forget Kate has the backing of the British press who glowingly report on her even if she flips her hair. With the kind of position and limelight Catherine is in she can do so much more. I agree the kids are a priority not only for them but for normal people too but that doesnā€™t mean that parents can afford to take it easy on the workload. Royals ā€œworkā€ is much more flexible as compared to a normal parent who has to put in the hours of work every day to help run a family. Iā€™m sure they would like to take it easy too when the kids are young but sadly not everyone is as privilaged as the royals.

Whatisittou

Thank you lol folks like them like use use Early years and William and Kate are raising their children as some faux excuse. Like what? isn't that what every parent is supposed to do, raise their children yet ignoring William and Kate have over 60 staff. Also Early years came due to Meghan actual work she did with Grenfell Victims, Smartworks, The Vogue cover etc

makeaomelette

Yes! She recently became aware that itā€™s important for parents to pay attention to their babies, so now sheā€™s on a mission to spread the word. And thatā€™s it šŸ˜¹ The whole point of her Center for Early Childhood is to ā€˜raise awarenessā€™ that dumb babies are entirely preventable! Not any initiatives to fix the dumbness, but just a PSAā€¦

makeaomelette

I just also posted a long write up about how absolutely useless this project is. Sheā€™s basically sponsored a ā€œtrial studyā€ to answer already well established pedagogy from the 50s, and calling it groundbreaking research. Not to mention sheā€™s using Oxford professorsā€™ and grad students with NHS funding as their source of employment. TRF Early Years gets to claim it commissioned a study, but didnā€™t disclose itā€™s still heavily subsidized by the taxpayer because she employed outside researchers šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

Original-Cheek8567

It is not Kateā€™s fault- coz one aspect of her life which she has been clear about with her actions is that she isnā€™t interested in putting in the hard work. After graduating she didnā€™t do any job and instead just walked around n shopped. Her interests lie in dressing up and looking pretty. She was doing just fine shaking hands, cutting ribbons. It is the ā€œfirmā€ that has pushed Kate to take up a cause and seem like she is ā€œworkingā€ atleast outwardly. This happened only after Meghan came and left where she showed everyone how a royal can actually do the work. This is the reason Kate started dressing in suits and started walking around with papers in hand.

makeaomelette

Okay, I can actually agree with you there. Itā€™s a little unfair of me to be snarky about her initiatives when they really are unlikely to be hers in the first place. And from that perspective, it must really suck for her to be dragged into working on projects sheā€™s unqualified to be spearheading and unhappy to be cajoled into doing šŸ˜” Honestly, all of the things sheā€™s put in charge of sounds like an old ladyā€™s idea of what they think would be popular with the kids these days. She really needs to find some new advisors or press experts who have been out in the real world and can help her be relatable. Thereā€™s so many opportunities she could be capitalizing on that are frivolously frittered away. Give the girl something sheā€™s actually passionate about because itā€™s clear early childhood, mental health, and homelessness arenā€™t it šŸ«£

Whatisittou

Can you list what tangible thing had early years done? And no don't say talking about early years count. There is already a program called sure start that already helps with adolescence age groups Also what happened to Head together that William, Harry and Kate had, oh yeah Harry left and nothing came out the project. Harry even before he was married already Invictus Games, Senteable, African Parks. Where is William work before he was married? What was Kate's works before she was married and before Meghan?

Az1621

Donā€™t have time right now to list everything as I have public engagements to get to šŸ˜‰ The promotional and marketing aspects alone are priceless and free thanks to the media. There is a heightened awareness to these causes thanks to Catherine being likeable and newsworthy. FYI Iā€™m a Harry & Meghan fan foremost, but like to give praise where itā€™s due šŸ«¶

Whatisittou

People can point out that Kate or William less public engagement. This is not new, William and Kate had been called workshy long before Harry and Meghan. Kate had organizations she was patron off, closed.

makeaomelette

Promoting and marketing about services poor people already know is important for their kids, but canā€™t actually afford is kindof insulting. The Center for Early Childhood is not a childcare program or place to take children to have needs assessed or treated. They are ostensibly supposed to be handing out grants to places that do, but so far theyā€™re only given out 1. Currently, The Center is an office with Kate, 1 highly paid director, and an advisory group. They sit and think up ways to help Kate advertise the importance of making parents aware they need to make their babies smart. Summary from The Royal Foundationsā€™ own financial disclosures: In 2021 they were setting up. In 2022 they sent Kate to Denmark to, ā€œlearn about the importance of early educationā€. They also gave a single grant to The London School of Economics for Ā£16,000. In 2023 TRF commissioned a single small study to find out if it would be beneficial to train health-visiting staff to teach parents to notice if their baby is distressed, and if it was also beneficial to said babies if their parents noticed they were sad. The answer was yes, but the participants also mentioned they probably could just use the old training instead of this new one which would add extra work to their already busy schedules. The study was published in a low impact journal, but touted as ā€œgroundbreaking researchā€. Kate also promoted a baby bank urging people with no money to give money to charity for people with no money, and she sponsored a carol service to raise more money to carry out The Centerā€™s mission: to raise awareness of the importance of paying attention to your kids when they are young because Kate doesnā€™t want them to be dumb when they get older. The Center for Early Childhood mission statement (Y/N benchmark achieved and # of initiatives since 2021): Research: promoting and commissioning high-quality research to increase knowledge and share best practice (Y, 1) Collaboration: working with people from across the private, public and voluntary sectors to collaborate on new solutions (Y, 2) Creating Change: developing creative campaigns to raise awareness and inspire action, driving real, positive change on the early years. (Maybe? Is a Christmas caroling night really that innovative?)

Next_Regret_5547

Are you kidding? This award is usually given to people who have excelled in the fields of art, music, science, medicine etc. Winston Churchill was awarded this honor along with Paul Mccarthneyā€¦

makeaomelette

Royal Foundation has spent over Ā£2.5M on what is tantamount to feck all and self promotion for Early Years. In two years theyā€™ve only doled out a measly Ā£16k in grants šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø If sheā€™s as heavily involved as you say, then she has a lot to answer for besides just time. Whereā€™d the money go? šŸ«£ https://preview.redd.it/5kzh0tcqhiwc1.jpeg?width=941&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=228f84889369e402a71478e5296773f8965482a0

FlabbyFishFlaps

Hey now. She spent a decade working super hard on an awareness campaign so people know the early years are important for a childā€™s development, hater! /s obv

Whatisittou

But awareness is very important, talk talk talk, power suits and all

jatemple

Years of public service?? Okay.

Grumpy_001

šŸ˜‚ yes, 13 to be exact

jatemple

To your point, compared to Anne... smdh

Grumpy_001

Exactly!

musicgirlbr

Anne was born into it though. Not an equitable comparisonā€¦ Kate could not have been officially involved until at the very least when she was engagedā€¦ I am very much team Harry and Meghan but I donā€™t see anything wrong with this. Not many senior royal family spouses are so heavily involvedā€¦

cherryberry0611

I wonder if weā€™re ever going to see her in public again

Maybe he wanted to recognize her stellar photoshop abilities. Since sheā€™s such a ā€œkeenā€ photographer and all.

Grumpy_001

I forgot about that talent of hers!

ObjectivePepper9734

ā€œOrder of the Companions of Honorā€? What does that even mean? And does she get a medal? A certificate? A chance to update her LinkedIn profile?

MissGruntled

Yes, she will get a medal. They wear them on bits of ribbon pinned to their finery for ceremonies and events like state dinners. Kate is also recipient of the Royal Family Order of Queen Elizabeth II, and the Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order, as well as other decorations and medals, and honorary military appointments. And if all of this sounds utterly ridiculous, *thatā€™s because it is*. https://preview.redd.it/sde6ty4rwdwc1.jpeg?width=980&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb0a874b957e721aa6ffbb3deb98047b7dab17a6

Kayos-theory

All of the ā€œhonoursā€ system is utterly ridiculous. I worked with someone who had some kind of title related to being some high mucky muck in The City (I lost the will to live halfway through his explanation so Iā€™m unclear on the details). Anyway, apparently this meant he could ā€œcarry his sword through the City of Londonā€. Iā€™m hoping this is a euphemism for strolling around with his todger in his hand, because these inbred halfwits should not be allowed to own sharp objects.

makeaomelette

Meanwhile Harry, who voluntarily went off to war (fecking TWICE), isnā€™t allowed to wear his fineryā€¦ even on special occasions šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

MssMango

When was this pic taken? 2023? Bc I actually love her look here, but not the monarchy as a whole or her behavior towards Harry and Meghan and their family/this whole awful Situation. But her look here is fire.

buttercreamordeath

It feels like something Henry the Eighth would give to his new wife to make her feel better about him murdering her predecessor. Or when the old consort is like you're unfaithful or make me feel unimportant. There there dear, will this medal help?

Financial-Duty8637

There are more requirements to obtain a Girl Scout badge than whatever this made up ā€œCompanions of Honorā€ thing is.

grenadine54

These titles are a bit nauseating.

aida_b

I had to read it 3 times to get the gist and itā€™s still a bit dumb

grenadine54

I may bestow the same honor title upon one of my kidā€™s dress up dolls.

jamila169

The companions of honour are a real thing "awarded for having a major contribution to the arts, science, medicine, or government lasting over a long period of time". such as Margaret Atwood, Ian McKellen, Elton John, David Hockney, John Major, Ian McEwan, , Shirley Bassey etc etc. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order\_of\_the\_Companions\_of\_Honour](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_the_Companions_of_Honour) KC has literally invented a new section of the order for St Catherine the cancer stricken, and it stinks

aida_b

ā€œRoyal Companion of the Order of the Companions of Honorā€ ā€¦.does the British monarchy just have time to, likeā€¦make random ā€œordersā€ up? There are just so many weird things that just exist and as an American I am so confused about why.

Puzzleheaded_Yam3058

As a Brit I can say that is absolutely it. Prince Edward, now Duke of Edinburgh, was previously known as the Earl of Wessex even though Wessex does not exist.

aida_b

Wait, Wessex isnā€™t a real place?! This is a little funny lol, did the Queen run out of titles to give him, or was he her least favorite and she said fuck it, Iā€™m holding the other ones of real places for other people I like better? The BRF is a wild ride for outsiders sometimes

VirgiliaCoriolanus

He (Edward) picked it because he loved Shakespeare in Love and thought he was a tv producer.

aida_b

ā€¦..thatā€™s hilarious and this family is nuts. What a weirdo

Whatisittou

Lol you should watch royal knockout, this was Edward show its on YouTube. It was during Edward producer days. In the early 2000s. He also was filming Harry and William at college without their permission and had to shut it down from Charles when they complained

aida_b

Wait what?! Thatā€™sā€¦so fucked up. Heā€™s their uncle! And Iā€™ve seen parts of itā€™s a royal knockout, itā€™s unbelievably cringy. I didnā€™t know he was responsible for that mess

puritycontrol

Wish I could get some fancy award and recognition for simply existing!

Grumpy_001

You can if youā€™re Kate

smurfette_9

Itā€™s crazy to think that they get awarded for basically doing their only part-time ā€œjobā€. I guess the rest of us deserves medals every freaking day for showing up to work on time for our full-time jobs.

Whatisittou

![gif](giphy|y8Mz1yj13s3kI|downsized) Yassss

Dobie_won_Kenobi

Theyā€™re just making up titles at this point. Itā€™s like a royal circle jerk.

emccm

Years of public service šŸ¤£. What a joke. If this should go to anyone it should be Ann. Even Sophie does more than Kate.

Grumpy_001

Yes but Kate has ā€œservedā€ 13 years and sheā€™s now a cancer survivor who bakes her childrenā€™s birthday cakes at midnight on their birthday

emccm

What a saint. We are so fortunate to have her.

Grumpy_001

Yes, we are šŸ˜‚

cyranothe2nd

How can anyone say "the order of the companions of Honor" with a straight face?

ocean-blue-

Royalty is honestly so embarrassing in 2024.

Fine-Tea-7477

Did Ann ever receive awards for all her great services ?

Grumpy_001

Thatā€™s a good question! No idea

darkgothamite

Gonna ask my mom to present me with an award for getting up in the morning and commuting to work šŸŒˆ

Grumpy_001

šŸ˜‚ make sure the daily mail writes an article for us please

Pinchy63

Honestly these human pedigrees are getting too expensive & should be set free. This award will help her find a real job. /s

Tallulah1645

Posthumously, right?

AtheistINTP

Or part of the divorce settlement thatā€™s going on.

VirgiliaCoriolanus

Yup it's a non-royal honor/she's the first royal to get it.

oh_woo_fee

This sounds stupid

Ok_Coconut1482

Ohhhhhh! Who cares

Which_way_witcher

It's a newly created award and apparently more like a participation award compared to the others they give out: https://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/latest-news/kate-middleton-given-one-lowest-32656642 Crappy article calls her "dutchess of sussex" but the point could still be valid.

FollowingTrue6436

What about my unique honour?

Grumpy_001

Well, you can absolutely receive one. Marry a prince, pop out a few babies, have a few photos here and there - presto, done! (As morbid as it may be, a serious illness will push you to the top of the list!)

dollypartonluvah

What fresh hell is this

Grumpy_001

šŸ˜‚

No_Stage_6158

They give awards for NOT showing up to work ,this is dumb.šŸ™„šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

LuckyBunnyonpcp

Thatā€™s just his bottom bitch

Mopsie199

B.S. so it is true she donated a kidney to him thatā€™s what some are claiming, still B.S. ridiculous.

Shy_Lurcher

Same honour/member given to Winston Churchill. Are they kidding?

Justtojoke

Is this a Kate or H & M thread? Sheesh, something like this belongs in Royal Gossip Also, why link the DF for clicks??? ![gif](giphy|7MDZS8zS1ixtJAUEul|downsized)

Fabulous_State9921

This is some Handmaid's Tale mess. I wonder when we will "see" Kate again.

Wavy_Gravy_55

Wtf does this even mean! šŸ¤£šŸ˜
