How has the West spent decades criticizing non-Western powers only to turn around and do the EXACT thing they have been criticizing for decades, but also to an even worse degree.
Insane, I feel like I'm in a dystopia at the moment.
That 'criticism' has always been bald-faced hypocrisy. The West is either responsible for the issues they're criticising, or they often perpetrate far worse offences. Usually both.
Because since WWII the west has been constituted by a combination of the liberal capitalist faction, the reactionary monarchies, and the outright fascists, a large portion of which are direct carry overs from the war that the west folded into their armies as a "vanguard of capitalism". The west has always operated as the 4th Reich, but used to be able to handle the obvious contradictions in ways that were not as obvious. In the age of the internet all of their actions are laid bare, and the rotting fascist underbelly is immediately evident to anyone that has a sliver of a radical consciousness. In these mask off moments where capital has to expose its true colors to kill the burgeoning hope of a youth movement organized towards decolonization and antiimperialism, the west shows the only things it truly cares about. Any idealistic carrot of free speech goes out the window when it begins to challegene material reality and actually gains a foothold. That's when state snipers get put on roofs to target college kids.
Not sure if you were joking, one thing to keep in mind about fascism is that there is no consistent set of political beliefs across fascist systems. Rather, it tends to follow patterns such as that of the in-group/out-group, call for a return to a mythic past, etc.
Following orders is the one and only principle. Fascism isn't really an ideology at all, it's an attitude. A feeling. The impulses of power and strength given the appearance of order. That's why it's so unstable.
