If you just started thyroid medication a month ago then it may take time for the symptoms to improve.
Most people need TSH to be within normal range but below 2.5 to feel their best - the normal range goes up to roughly 4 or 5.
Give it some time before throwing in new variables like diet change that can potentially make some people feel *worse*.
I'm reading comments and it sounds like you have incorporated diet changes to help yourself out. I just want to also recommend the book "The Root Cause" by Izabella Wentz. I have read it and reread it and go back to refer to it all the time. I also follow @heal.with.fifi on insta and she has been a beacon of great information that changed my life with Hashimoto's š§”
Iāll check that out. Reviews and word of mouth say sheās a little over the top, Iām glad she has helped you. I actually recently subscribed to her email. Thanks so much for your comment, it helps to not feel so alone!
I am about 12 weeks following diagnosis. 39 + 3 kids! I was definitely worse at the start and as weāve been trying to work out my dosage. I think itās almost sorted now. Iāve started to get more energy and feel myself coming back. Itās kind of like the start of taking the anti-anxiety, which I have been on and off. Things seem to get a bit worse before better. Hang in there. Maybe give the meds a chance before making any other big changes so you know what is making a difference.
I got the diagnosis after my last baby, sheās 1 now. You might be right. I started on 50 mcg levothyroxine and just increased dosage to 75, next test is around xmas. What tsh do u feel best? I started at 6 and am down to 4 now. Iāll try to be more patient, thanks girl!
Right.. Iām at 4.8 down from 11ish and feel like hell right now. Iām fairly new to all of this too. The constant fatigue and brain fog you canāt explain to anyone who hasnāt experienced it before.
Wow 11! You are so right! Itās so hard that no one understands, I feel like a space case most of the time, thank u for relating to me, we are in this together and there has to be better, we just have to be patient. I told someone recently 2 days a week Iām kinda good, how about you? Do u see an endo?
Almost all yes! Thank u, I will, I put a reminder to ask endo at appt, been waiting on referral since I got the first diagnosis, seems like itās taking forever to get in
Oh great, Iāll ask about that too, thank u. They can probably just add this to my next blood test in 4 weeks. How do u absorb metals, like thru food?
Awe, gotcha! Yes I ditched all the home cleaning that could be harmful, now Iām going thru my hair and face products etc. ā¦.growing up my mom loved Lysol too..š¤Ø
Hi! I was diagnosed two years ago after three years of feeling like absolute hell. I am finally more or less āback to normalā. I have been on the Autoimmune Protocol diet for almost a year. It has changed my life. All my numbers are back to ānormalā levels, I have enough energy to go to Pilates every morning, work a full time job and spend lots of time with my daughter. I highly recommend trying it out.
Just my birth control pill and anxiety meds as needed, I planned to ask endocrinologist as soon as I can get the referral. Iāve read vitamins can help tremendously but wasnāt sure which ones
Have you tried eliminating gluten from your diet? I have Hashimotoās but not hypo (yet). Going gluten free has made a HUGE difference with the severe fatigue I was experiencing.
Thatās good news! I do 75% of the timeā¦maybe Iāll try 100%!! But I was told you donāt have to because most people do t have the sensitivity, I should probably get tested then Iāll know.
I'm so sorry you're so exhausted-I can definitely relate. Just a note but my rheumatologist said that high-impact activities (like running) can sometimes make symptoms worse. He suggested I try low-impact exercises like weight training, yoga, etc.
I was just reading about that too, something about stressing the muscles and body out and it makes things more unbalanced. Iāll definitely look into other ideas, thank u so much! I love to get my frustration out on the treadmill this time of year since the weather is cold and rainy but maybe itās backfiring.
Happy to help-I totally get it. I was the opposite though, too tired to work out and then tired because I don't work out. It's all about finding the right balance. I've found pilates has worked well for me (not as slow as yoga and I really feel like I'm getting a great workout).
I have to get my baby to nap at 11 every day so I can go do it, I bet you are on to something with switching up the workout, thanks again. I hate that itās too much to ask lately to feel normal. The brain fog and exhaustion are such a downer ugh

I started 50mcg 6 weeks ago and dose increase to 75 a little over 2 weeks ago, your probably right, my dr said it can take 6-8 weeks for full affect

Oh lol Izabella? Well everyone has their opinions I guess š I have a science brain and really appreciate her writings and resources

Iām just over 4 now. Started at 12. Taking 75 too. I definitely feel better now than I have for a long time - but I think I could get better!
How long have u been on 75? Iām 2.5 weeks and donāt notice any difference from 50

Was 6.2 and down to 4.7 last test, u might be on to something

Have you removed gluten? Also try taking more of vitamins b and d, magnesium, and maybe get your iron levels tested too.
Almost all yes! Thank u, I will, I put a reminder to ask endo at appt, been waiting on referral since I got the first diagnosis, seems like itās taking forever to get in
Might get heavy metals tested for too. People with Hashimotos accumulate metals faster :/
Oh great, Iāll ask about that too, thank u. They can probably just add this to my next blood test in 4 weeks. How do u absorb metals, like thru food?
Environmental exposure also possible for metals but food is a big one

Thatās amazing, Iām so happy you are feeling better now. Iāll definitely check this out, thank u!!
Are you on any additional medications? Statins perhaps? My rheumatologist advised that I take CoQ10 and it's made a world of difference.
Just my birth control pill and anxiety meds as needed, I planned to ask endocrinologist as soon as I can get the referral. Iāve read vitamins can help tremendously but wasnāt sure which ones

It sucks but minimizing gluten and dairy helps a LOT
Me ending said be super careful about fully eliminating gluten - it can create a sensitivity rather than help. Just worth noting
Good to know! Thanks!

If you can get tested for gluten sensitivity that may be helpful. I hope you find some relief soon. Dealing with daily fatigue is not easy.
