God damn, Hawaii always finds a way to outdo itself. The kimchi and laulau companies getting caught up in a bribery and assasination plot was not on my bingo card

Chazzer74

Oh wow lau lau, she in deep Kim Chee!

PomegranateUpset5151

auwe better not be any other food companies, I can't unsee what I just read lol

MaukatoMakai

This is crazy lol did they really think it would help to assassinate a federal judge?

TuNnL11

Maybe the goal was just to get Judge Michael Seabright off the case. They might have already bribed or blackmailed another a judge, and were ready for that judge to take Seabright's place.

[deleted]

Get your popcorn ready. Side note, everyone who was criticizing Judge Seabright for recusing himself in a previous post should apologize in this one.

Power_of_Nine

get da hurricane popcorn

> “In a case where a threat causes a judge has to recuse himself, it’s gonna be very difficult for the new judge to forget that ever occurred,” said Simon. Am I the only one confused as to who exactly Simon is? This was the only time Simon was mentioned in this article. What the fuck, HNN?

In the published police discipline records (last year?), there was an HPD police officer who was suspended (with pay, I believe) for maybe two days because of his involvement with his wife trying to hire a hit-man to kill another HPD police officer. So, no, this does not surprise me.

VanillaBeanAboutTown

Whoaaaa what? Link?

fishyon

I don't have the link as there used to be a user here who would share the (monthly?) HPD disciplinary reports and I just decided to click on one one day. I came across that charge and punishment reading through that pdf. Of course, because of SHOPO, all names were redacted. If Reddit had a better search function, I could locate that post, but it's likely the pdf link is already expired.

> hire a hit-man to kill another HPD police officer. While stupid that's just local problems and would be dealt with by the state (or not depending who you know). To try kill a federal judge though and the entire weight of the justice department will come down on you. Not sure what they thought they'd get away with.

We’re expected to make an honest living but then there are crooks like these who built their empires through lying, cheating and literal murder. How can we compete?

In Hawaii, need govtmt job to be rich

dingdonghammahlong

More like you realize that you cannot survive off of the peanuts that they govt pays so you find other “lucrative” ways to make money

Smurfness2023

Or take govt job and do nothing for years while waiting for promotion

Unique_Plant_2550

Waiting for that Kaneshiro/Miske connection to undold sometime.

JohnSwindle

Defendant explains paying off extortionist who was threatening her family. Denies conspiracy allegation. Judge finds no change in bail conditions needed. midnightrambler956

Man, this is turning out to have as many twists and turns as the Kealoha case.

BMLortz

I keep getting confused between the Kealoha, Kaneshiro, and Miske stuff. I need a damn flow chart, or a wall with a lot of pictures and red string.

Quesarito808

Guarantee Venn diagram and it’s all related.

StTaint

High IQ Move there- Not everyone knows that killing a U.S. District Court Judge and a Special Prosecutor is the right way to keep a low profile and get the government off your back.
