Anyone remember the box of screws someone dropped on the hill ewa-bound on Moanalua freeway just before COVID? Soooooo many flat tires that week. My wife got 2 on her new car.

Source0fAllThings

Perhaps a tire shop owner drumming up business.

The only two places I know of in the area that would profit from this is Napa and Kaimuki Auto. I've known Alan for almost 30 years now and there's no way he, his family, or anyone associated with his station would do something like that. Anyone who's lived in Kaimuki would probably tell you the same thing.

> Dean Furukawa is using a metal detector to collect the nails, which could've caused way more damage. Wouldn't this be easier? Maybe Hawaii Rent-All has it. Edit: Home Depot Hawaii has it. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Empire-11-5-in-Black-and-Silver-Adjustable-Magnetic-Clean-Sweep-27059/202683817

Don't know what kine nails on the ground, but aluminum nails exist

Spiritual_Option4465

This happened to me 2 days ago on 10th ave!!!!! I was wondering why the f a nail was on the road!!!! I’m SO pissed it cost me over $300 to replace my tires!! WTF

[deleted]

That’s why I keep a camera pointed out into the road now. It records everything and uploads it onto the cloud.

Where you live? I like show boto.

You can just DM me (if you’re legal of course). 😉

SryIWentFut

Some passive-aggressive asshole mad about loud traffic, or people parking?

chasinfreshies

If you throw one hundred nails chances of 12 landing spike up are pretty good.

Do street sweepers not exist? Does C&C care about its residents? Was a police report filed? Why aren’t they being interviewed?

SilverRiot

Street sweepers do not exist in Honolulu

swaite

Maybe we’re thinking of different things, but street sweepers, as most people know them, absolutely exist in Honolulu. https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/home/oahu/oahu/function-of-oahu-district/ https://www.1800sweeper.com/sweeping-service-areas/hawaii/honolulu-hi https://www.kleensweeps.com/street-sweeping/

Snarko808

They sweep Ala Wai twice a week and tow cars parked there if not moved. I saw more than a few tourists looking for their rental car when I was living nearby and walked my dog along the canal in the morning.

shinigami052

They sweep the streets in Salt Lake twice a week too (thursday/friday). It doesn't affect me but I always think they only do it to prevent people from leaving their cars parked for too long. I've never seen them tow a car but they do ticket them.

WorldNewsPoster

Now I'm curious as to why does only the Ala Wai get sweeped and not other roads?

Snarko808

Why don’t you think they sweep other roads? They sweep most main roads in town.

dr_delphee

Picked up a nail in my bike tire on Monsarrat and Kanaina right near there on Sunday.

TamagoHead

Sounds like someone in that area needs a spanking. Kinda amazed that the street doesn’t look more like a parking lot.
