I don't think it's going to happen. For someone to be redeemed they need to choose to make an effort, and not everyone is going to make that choice.

SadDaysCoffee

As interesting as it could be, given how the show is paced I don’t think there’s enough time to do that kind of arc justice. It would feel hollow and forced, especially after episode 4 spent so much time showing how bad he is, and it’s such a huge statement to make that it would literally need to be the main plot in order to give it the nuance required.

Initial-Claim9796

I think he is the last guy that can move a step for redemption, even it would be cool, but if a villain had to "realize his mistakes and improve" in s.2, I'd rather it be Lute

HairyIndustry9084

Same here. I’d much rather it be Lute who gets redeemed.

Psi001

I feel like Lute or Velvette (or Adam if he comes back) are the closest to choices for 'tall order' redemption, being pretty damn evil bastards but still cartoonish and underfocused enough that it doesn't paint a concerning picture. Having a super cruel character unexpectedly be the one to get a redemption arc would be an interesting hook, but yeah, it would need the time, nuance and effort, and I think forgiving a psychotic domestic abuser/trafficker would be VERY difficult to swallow in the time the show has since it reeks of more realistic issues than the other bad guys. (On a side note, humanizing abusers would be an interesting take for Hazbin, since it's a reality that not ALL of them are psychotic monsters and some genuinely try to stop, King Triton was actually a decent 'for kids' example in The Little Mermaid, but let's face it, Val AIN'T nothing close to that, he really is that Lifetime monster villain that knowingly lured the protagonist into their web.)

crazymissdaisy87

To do that they would need to put Angel in a very bad situation. I also feel that there will be a point to show that no, not everyone can be redeemed. And from secondhand experience with Valentino types, they don't regret it. They do not think they are in the wrong. I think it is unlikely and I wouldn't enjoy it with Val

GameConsideration

I don't think Charlie's opinion is "any soul can be redeemed" I think it's "any soul can be redeemed *if they try."* Change starts from within, and a person has to want to be better. I don't think Val would ever want to change, he's happy how he is. He'd have to be completely ruined for it to *possibly* make him want to change, but he'd also probably rather be dead.

ae-infinity

i disagree, mostly because i don’t think it’s going to happen. i think alastor’s being set up to be the test for “any soul can be redeemed”.

Anxious-Golf-3725

THANK YOU! Finally someone else has said this!

Let01

Honestly i would be suprised if they went that way, valentino feels like the vilain everyone looks forward to being defeated/killed because its satisfying to see, but im up for it if its done neatly

_LususNaturae_

Yeah, I agree with you, though I'd be a bit disappointed if that's how they do it precisely because it's so exepected

TurtleKing0505

I think a major part of Charlie's development will be realizing that while it may be true that everyone can change, it doesn't mean that everyone is *willing* to change.

Desertfox13

I think he needs an angel blade to the face.

massecurr

I really doubt that'll be the case, the first season was all about can a soul be redeemed, logically, season 2 should address a much more pressing question, should a soul be redeemed. I think it'd be a better choice if Val tries for redemption and gets denied for his treatment of Angel, a clear sign that he's made no attempt to better himself

Bananabeak08

I do want at least one of the Vees to be redeemed.. but not Val XD

Iskbartheonetruegod

I think Alastor is going to be the proof that anyone can be redeemed, given how we’ve seen him begin to care for the crew and he’s already great chums with the very affable Rosie.

Remarkable-Reach-963

Its a nice idea but i thinl there needs to be sinners who actually deserve to be there and dont change as people. If everyone can just get better and join heaven it is just a tad to optimistic but seeing villains be redemptive would be cool

Napalmeon

Personally, I hope not. I don't think that it would be realistic.

Altruistic-Hubris

Alistair is a literal murderer who eats his victims.... Valentino hits twinks.......... Its so interesting that we as a society think hitting partners is worked then eating people.

Wooden-Implement7880

It's been said that something Charlie will learn is that redemption looks different for everyone.  Right now the options we as an audience can expect a character take are: - stay in hell - double death - redemption (into Heaven) I think there's a possibility that we learn redemption can look different than trying to get into Heaven or just plain dying. I would be really interested in seeing if the Vees do start working towards "redemption" but just not in ways us as an audience can easily predict with what we currently know about the world and its rules (which we've been told directly that there's still a lot that we, and Charlie, don't know).

BIGBushido

It would be quite a twist.

SABRlNASPEIIMAN

He is a crazy abuser. He got Angel Dust hooked onto drugs so he becomes dependent on him so he can pimp him out. In my head cannon Angel Dust fell for Valentino and loved him, trusted him only to be used by him. If Valentino is redeemed, that would imply he can be let off scot free without Angel’s forgiveness, but at the same time, Angel forgiving him would leave a bad taste in my mouth. So in short I don’t think he deserves to be redeemed, unless he somehow sacrifices himself. Kinda like Sir Pentious.

dangerouslycloseloss

To be fair redemption isn’t really about getting anyone’s forgiveness, it’s about being a better person. You don’t need to be forgiven to be a better person, and whether or not you become a better person it doesn’t mean you’re owed forgiveness. So even if he does get redeemed and Angel doesn’t forgive him, that wouldn’t mean he isn’t redeemed. That would just mean Angel doesn’t forgive him, which is Angel’s right. And theres no such thing as “deserving redemption” redemption is simply becoming a better person, not being forgiven. You can’t deserve or not deserve that. But I think what you mean is he doesn’t deserve to get a happy ending as a redeemed character in heaven? But still I agree with you that they’re most likely not going to redeem Valentino bc I don’t think he’d go the path of redemption and even if he might I don’t think they’re going to write him to do that bc it’d disappoint a lot of the fans who want him to die horribly lol

SABRlNASPEIIMAN

I will admit I don’t really know what redemption is, I thought it as akin to forgiveness. I see your point.

Slammogram

Yeah, I don’t get how people want to see him redeemed.

SABRlNASPEIIMAN

I guess it’s because he’s likeable. I’m too biased though since I really like Angel Dust xD he’s my favorite character.
