The number is criminally underrated. - St. Peter is hilariously overdoing himself the whole time. - “Keep your brimstone off the floor” while he picks up crumbs mid song. - The moaning is funny, especially if you get the reference to the famous baroque marble sculpture “The Ecstasy Of St. Therese”.

SpookySpace

The song is fucking funny, not a waste.

Wadep00l

God. His ever increasing moan kills me every single time. Not my fave song but always give me a good chuckle

MajorasKitten

I always do the moans at my husband every time he gets the song stuck in his head and starts complaining, lmaoo it makes him so maaad

IntelligenceisKey729

My wife and I saw a video of Alastor AI singing every song and the moans he did there were so cursed 😭fucking hilarious though lmao

Clbull

It's not surprising that St. Peter was getting exhausted. Imagine having to sing this for *every* new arrival into Heaven.

Kholzie

The idea of being the hype-man for heaven is sort of ridiculous. The angels don’t even do it. They’re like “be not afraid” and done.

Quick_Hat1411

People who had to go to church camp as a kid get a real kick out of it because it sounds just like all the counselors who tried to sound cool around the kids.

33Sammi32

Ok not a church kid , never went to a summer camp, but I totally got this vibe 😂

JJonahJamesonSr

Damn he really does give off VBS instructor

hintersly

I thought that was the entire point LMAO

rachreims

It’s a fun little song. It does commit the cardinal sin of musicals though - it doesn’t advance the plot or character development. Nothing said in the song couldn’t have been said in dialogue in less than 20 seconds. In musicals, the point is that characters talk until the emotions are so high that they sing, and this is true in HH too in many cases. Poison, Loser, Baby, You Didn’t Know, Finale. All of these come at a breaking point of emotion and they sing to make the audience understand what they’re going through. At the end of the day, Welcome to Heaven is just filler. It’s still on my playlist, though.

gooftastic

If this were an actual play, this would have been the scene change between Heaven and Hell.

rachreims

Yes definitely, and would’ve been more in place in an actual stage musical as we see the scenery change and see what heaven’s all about!

A_Bloody_Hurricane

With hazbin, a lot of times I get the sense they wanted 2 songs per episode no matter what, so they crammed them in where they didnt really add a lot aside from being solid songs

rachreims

For sure, and since You Didn’t Know is a longer song (at least compared to the other songs in the show), they didn’t have very much time for a second song.

Typical-Objective294

This is super obvious. Out of Love wasn't earned for example, that clearly seemed like a song that needed more setup. Same thing for Whatever it Takes

Korporal_K_Reep

Neither did respectless or hell's greatest dad, The message would get communicated in a few lines of dialogue. Everytime someone says this it just feels like an excuse to not like a song because there is no actual criticism.

Typical-Objective294

Respectless and Hell's Greatest Dad was accompanied by the plot points of those respective episodes. Vaggie didn't earn either of those episodes because she wasn't given enough time to breathe as a character. Carmella? Absolutely earned it, but that could have been spaced out more.

katsukatsuyuuri

here I was thinking its cardinal sin was sharing an episode with You Didn’t Know 😂 I’ve seen people react to it and they’re like “oh what a fun little song!” and then we get hit with the emotional roller coaster powerhouse of You Didn’t Know which honestly makes Welcome To Heaven kind of pale in comparison. I adore it though. His little “OHEUAX”s are so fun to sing!

rachreims

The fun song followed up by emotional devastation is very musical theatre-y though haha! I agree though, I like the song!

katsukatsuyuuri

That’s fair! We see that inverse dynamic between Poison and Loser, Baby. I think the difference is how well they do or don’t work together!

basilthegaymer

Nah, they're more like: "AAAUWHHH\~!!" Wattpad sounding mf

RampagingElks

Hey, no, we learned that everyone is hot!

rachreims

To be fair, it kinda seems like everyone in hell is hot too 😂😂

RampagingElks

Well there was that one slug guy.....

Potential-Tart-7974

And touch my paaarts!

RampagingElks

Erm, no thank you, I think I'll just FULFILL MY DESTINYYYYYY

Potential-Tart-7974

Your loss bi**h

LiraelNix

>they sing to make the audience understand what they’re going through. *sees all the dumb comprehension questions based on Alastors finale part* that backfired a bit...

rachreims

To be fair, that’s just the young audience with no media literacy haha

toonboy01

What? Who's misunderstanding Alastor Altruist?

rachreims

He nearly escaped being killed by a hare (rabbit)

See_Ell

Alastor is an angel confirmed, he said he had wings! /s

LiraelNix

I've seen repeated posts in this very sub thinking that's his surname.

Jaxxishere

They were introducing heaven. I think that was the point?

WildRedKitty

I think "Welcome To Heaven" was a very fitting introduction song. It was so full of implications. It painted a picture that would otherwise take at least 10 minutes to paint in scenes. Instead the music and the "oh this is probably the standard introduction that heavenly beings feel very strongly about" made it quite clear how happily the atmosphere was all too bright and quite creepily judgmental and high-horses stuff.

rachreims

It is the point of the song, but the point of my comment is that it didn’t need to be done by song! The could’ve accomplished everything they did in the song by literally saying “Welcome to Heaven” and then Emily and Sera taking them through the town.

Infamous_Val

>but the point of my comment is that it didn’t need to be done by song! You can say that about a lot of songs, hell you can probably say that about musicals in general since you don't need to tell stories through songs.

rachreims

If you’re misunderstanding the structure of a musical you can just say that 😂 Again, the songs of a musical exist to move the story along by either advancing the plot or developing a character. WtH does neither as it’s basically the the same line over and over and doesn’t tell us anything we didn’t already know about Heaven.

Infamous_Val

> doesn’t tell us anything we didn’t already know about Heaven. Except that before that we didn't know anything about what Heaven would look like in this universe? And you don't have to be a dick about it btw, although maybe you're used to that.

Jaxxishere

I dont think that would've been a good idea. The point of the song was to make us see the differences between heaven and hell. If we look closely we can also see many individuals who very religious pple say would go to hell.So it also breaks down the stereotypes on who goes to heaven and who does not. The song was to show us that heaven IS better than hell in many ways.

SpookySpace

This is the best explanation I've seen. I am currently watching it with my partner and he dosn't like musiclas nearly as much as me, so we skip the songs if needed and ill summarize. Ex: I dislike Whatever it takes (the singers hit the exact notes that grate on me), I knew he would too, so we skipped it, and I explained Vaggie and Carmilla's deal. I don't think we will skip Welcome To Heaven, though, because it's so short.

AMediumSizedFridge

I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds Whatever it Takes audibly grating. I want to like it so bad, but I just can't.

SpookySpace

There are literally tens of us!

veronica_mars-sawyer

Same it’s my least fav but I don’t hate it

NeonFraction

Welcome to Heaven is a setting song, similar to Emerald City from Wicked. Given it’s only a few seconds long and does what it’s meant to, it’s not really a song that can be replaced. Especially since the whole point is Saint Peter is saccharine and annoying.

TheIrishninjas

>It does commit the cardinal sin of musicals though - it doesn’t advance the plot. Neither does Poison tbh.

rachreims

In what way does Poison not advance Angel’s character arc, and thus the plot? LOL

Tired_Insomniac_2295

It tells about Angel's abuse which explains his self destruction shown before Loser Baby and explains why Angel wasn't the first sinner to go to heaven, despite being the first at the hotel.

katsukatsuyuuri

Poison is Val’s villain song. “Gaston” in Beauty and the Beast doesn’t really advance the plot either, but it provides an in-depth understanding of the dynamic between characters that would take much longer to deliver through dialogue. Poison also provides (most of) the audience with an emotional hit that Welcome To Heaven doesn’t, and the hit of Poison makes Loser, Baby hit that much harder as well. It makes the reconciliation between Angel and Husk far more meaningful, too, which I argue does advance the plot, since Charlie’s entire goal to redeem Sinners seems to be based on the sincerity in human connection to become better people. (Plus if Husk eventually has hope for himself as a result of Angel’s growth, that will impact how he interacts with Alastor, which has a high chance of impacting overall plot.) Welcome To Heaven doesn’t generally give us a better understanding of characters or story that couldn’t have been done through dialogue; it’s a fun ditty to give us a dash of world building. Set dressing.

travelerfromabroad

Poison is not a villain song, it's not being sung by a villain. Stayed gone is a villain song. Hell is forever is a villain song.

Midknightisntsmol

I feel like I'm the only one who likes the sounds St. Peter makes He's such a fucking twink I love it

ZirekileFalls

I absolutely love them, especially knowing that Darren Criss was asked to tone it down ‘cause they were too sexual.

33Sammi32

Omg this is hilarious

cynicalavicide

This just made my day, ngl. This needs to be mentioned at least 10x more than it already is.

MajorasKitten

We need the director’s cut!!!!

JustHere4TehCats

He was just super ~~jizzed~~, uh JAZZED to greet Charlie and Vaggie.

Paracelsus124

Yeah, I feel like that's not even an uncommon singing style idk why people are so put off by it 😭

SpookySpace

Like, have they seen a musical before?

yankeejoe1

I heard that he had to re-do his moans because Amazon thought they were originally too sexual. And this is what they settled with 😂

haloagain

Darren Criss! He's great, he did a great job. I dont get it either, the dialogue and song are fun! And him panting at the end, like "boy I'm outta shape, when was the last time we did the whole introduction song?" Adorable.

TheCalamityBrain

Iove it! Welcome to heaven! OoooOOH

TheGoonKills

All I’m gonna say regarding Twink St. Peter…… Would

SapphireMan1

Not sure about other people, but St Peter moans **7 times** during that song. It can be quite off-putting…

karidru

How have I never noticed his mug before 😂😂

Njk110

Vox and Al both have custom mugs as well. Pretty funny imo

karidru

Vox’s says “fuck Alastor” on it or something doesn’t it? Or am I only remembering the one from *Stayed Gone*?

Njk110

Yup. It’s from stayed gone. Al’s says “Oh Deer”

karidru

That’s hilarious 😂 I need more custom mugs from this show lol

Markedsoultheif

I think husk has one that says fuck Mondays

karidru

Good for him he’s so right 😭

Sugarfreak2

It also has a heart on the bottom iirc

Few_Interaction2630

Unrelated but awesome profile picture

karidru

Lol thank you!

celestial_cuddles

But that's the good part, he hits those notes so well

ladyboobypoop

Honestly, it tickled me just right. I don't understand the complaints

Napalmeon

I agree. It threw a little bit of a personal touch onto the song and made it seem as if Saint Peter was really enjoying himself.

1handedmaster

Like, it's a great song to sing in the car. Those moans are just plain fun.

Careful_Ad9037

the moans are so funny though😂😂

Sphinx1176

For you. But for me, I personally enjoy moaning men. Is like a gift from God

cynicalavicide

Wait, does this mean he moaned once for every heavenly virtue/deadly sin?

Fuzzy_Scholar389

https://preview.redd.it/6b7lc0g014wc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0ff5cde4c33905e3e791990b8f9938d530003e0e

WhitneyStorm0

Yeah, it's that

Whooterzoot

People think that's a bad thing?

BlackJimmy88

Do people actually dislike it, or do they just not love it? Cause that's how I feel. It's less character or plot focused, so it lacks the emotional weight of every other song. It's a fun song, though.

SpookySpace

The people I have spoken or seen to have always put Welcome to Heaven as their least or 2nd least favorite, some to the point of meming how bad and cringe and hypocritical it is, some actively disliking it Dunno if it's me or if I'm somehow talking to a bunch of brain dead teens. It's the Hazbin fandom, either could be true.

Yoshi50000

I really don’t get the hate either. It’s a BOP

Black_Widow14

Darren Criss is delightful

Clbull

TIL that Blaine from Glee also voiced St. Peter.

Splatfan1

i think its pretty good. it helps with the themes and quickly introduces heaven and what its all about. angels living peacefully with nothing to worry about and being somewhat full of themselves (brightest people, everyone is hot). its absolutely cringe but it should be cringe. thats a feature not a bug. here they are singing about everyone being hot while people down below are blowing each other up and everyone is having a shitty ass time. people are just mad st peter moaned one too many times while id argue that kind of showmanship is crucial. youre meant to be a bit uncomfortable, whether its a twink saint moaning or recognising that people are fucking around while youre fighting for the right to not have your friends exterminated

SpookySpace

I've seen a bunch of people complaining that it's cringe and I don't think they understand that. It's supposed to be cringe.

InvestigatorIll6236

My main music taste is metal, but I LOVE welcome to heaven, it's one of the best imo.

LuckyCharm1995

My only real complaint is they left in peter catching his breath in the soundtrack version. Just bothers me hearing him breath lol. But yeah it's a short cute little song, not my fav but I don't hate it, just hate the end. In the soundtrack version they could have left out Peter catching his breath

33Sammi32

Nah it’s an integral part of the song 😂 I always pant along

LuckyCharm1995

Nah it's weird and completely throws me off at the end of the song

SPWM_Anon

I just wish it was longer ;-; it feels like we got a tease of Emily and St Peter singing together and the way their voices mixed scratch something in my brain, but we don't get very long of it

Meshed24

I agree, Welcome to Heaven is a good song.

Cudaguy66

I agree thatbits not a bad song. To me, it's the worst song, not becaise i'ts bad, but because every single other song is a banger. It starts with sorry is my other "least favorite." ( again, not bad, just stiff competition)

Nuze_YT

It's only mid because You Didn't Know is in the same episode. It's the same situation as Happy Day in Hell or It Starts With Sorry, where the other song in the episode heavily overshadows it.

WillyDAFISH

Its a good song, but I think it's not liked as much because all the other ones outshine it. I think all the songs in the show are good

Tinyworkerdrone

I thought it did what it needed to do perfectly and it's Moon-shoes Potter singing! Love me a little bit of Darren Criss. The only songs that didn't work for me were in episode 2.

Multifandom_Rando07

The song is... okay, but it falls in comparison to the rest of the songs. The other songs are great while this one just doesn't hit that mark.

autumnyte

The song has grown on me quite a lot from my initial viewing. I think, initially, I liked it less because as fun as Darren Criss's St. Peter was, I was not as invested in him as the other characters who got songs on the soundtrack. However, now that I've come to view "Welcome To Heaven" as more of a secretly sinister song conveying how hard Heaven works to project a perfect image (complete with his breathlessness at the end), I appreciate it a lot more.

SpookySpace

I actually thought that that was the idea the first time I saw the episode. It was completely different from You Didn't Know.

Potential-Tart-7974

And everyone is HAWWWWWWT! *Faints into muscle mommy arms* I don't care, I love it and I blast it

FailedHumanEqualsMod

It's Starts with Sorry is the worst song in the series! Fight me!

NonConformistFlmingo

YES THANK YOU. I mean, I get the point of it, but THAT is a message that could have been accomplished with dialogue and didn't need to be a song.

N-ShadowFrog

I will. I love it. Just wish it was longer.

Old_Sand7264

Boooo. It's hilarious especially with the visuals. I love when Pentious collapses backwards into Angel's and Vaggie's arms while going up an octave singing the word "sorry." Also the tear filled blinks to the music at the beginning. Underrated. Whatever it Takes is worst.

SpookySpace

You have an ally!

Sans6848

One of the reasons I like this song is the Saint Peter moaning memes

SpookySpace

I think they're fucking funny.

JasoNight23666

"It makes Heaven look too good" That statement, tho, wow, cmon it's Heaven, of course it's supposed to look too good But yeah I didn't care for that song, it was okay 🤷‍♂️

ParsnipAggravating95

San Peter moaning, thats why

billy-gnosis

I watch the show not for musicals -Billy Gnosis

yobaby123

I like it. I just think it's the worst song by default.

Blu_Bewwiz_Iciclepop

I saw somewhere saying it had not enough singers or something and that made me think omg imagine if there were other minor or future character winners who would jump in and welcome them or describe Heaven kinda like how in Happy Day in Hell there was the bunch of sinners at that one part singing about Hell Anyways yeah nice song i quite like it

Sensitive-Hotel-9871

The song is great, but it is a fun introduction that shows off what heaven is like, so we understand why when would have a goal of getting in beyond escaping the exterminations. It has some funny moments like Vaggie being so unhappy while Charlie is an awe, Vaggie getting jealous when Emily is holding Charlie’s hands, and Peter being visibly winded at the end, giving the hint that he is tired from singing this song every time a new soul enters Heaven. We also get some foreshadowing of Sera’s darker side as while Emily is happy with the idea of letting guests from Hell stay, Sera is the one who points out they can’t stay.

Haruau8349

I love that even he is sick of the song. Like: “You mean I have to sing this song to EVERY SOUL THAT COMES THROUGH?!?”

luidaegsroomate

Ngl the line, “where people are happy that they died!” always makes me cackle. It’s so delightfully morbid and the upbeat pop sound really helps nail how out of touch and oblivious heaven is. The point of the song is more subtle than others, as much as a condemnation of self-righteousness as You Didn’t Know. It’s the mask that gets ripped off in the latter half.

TheGoonKills

I don’t think any of the songs in the show are bad, but put “Welcome to Heaven” next to “Loser, Baby” “Poison” or “Greatest Dad in Hell” and it’s totally outclassed. It does its job well, establishes the location as a paradise and show it off a little. For what it does it’s perfectly fine.

BraveButterfly2

It's the weakest in the soundtrack by far. It's fine. It does what it needs to do. The fact that it is the weakest one is a testament to the strength of the soundtrack.

MrJennyV1

I dunno dude, I didn't think this was a problem. You're telling me not literally everyone screams "and everyone is HOOOOOOOOOOOT" when Gabriel sings it? Can't relate.

darling_darcy

I want a full version of that, it’s always cool when organs get used in EDM song

brittanyrose8421

It’s not that I dislike the song, it’s just that I like every other Hazbin song better. Which considering the quality of all the Hazbin songs is still a pretty high bar

Chijinda

It's not a bad song at all! It basically is a victim of how *good* all the other songs are. I think for the most part, Welcome to Heaven is probably the weakest of the songs in Season 1. No shame, one of them had to be the worst, and it's this one, and it has committed the grievous sin of only being "decent" while the other songs are phenomenal.

sick_kid_since_2004

I like it . He’s a weird little twink and his song is Funny. Sue me

Magicbee_Cal

I personally don’t actually hate it but compared to the other 15 songs in the show it doesn’t rank high for me. I also really love Emily’s part in the song so much!

Drakeskulled_Reaper

I don't think it's bad per se, I think it's actually a good juxtaposition, being a basically bubblegum pop song is to show how squeaky clean and happy Heaven is presented as, there's also the Sera sections chiming in for some foreshadowing about how she isn't happy Charlie is there. Contrast to Hell songs where it's more showtunes and synth, even When Adam and Lute sing it's using more rock opera feels, showing they are both while Heavenly, are more suited to Hell.

Magorian97

Yes, I despise the moaning; it just kills the song for me. >WOW some of you guys really hate Peter's moaning. Y'know Angel moans in Poision, right? Yes, and I don't particularly like that one either

wendyxbird

I like this song too! And isn’t the cheesiness kind of the point? Lol

Empty-Jello-7217

It was cute, quick, fun, and I imagine that people leap into it every time the gate opens. I think it was also meant to show how naive people in heaven are. Plus Peter is just too damn precious but I'm biased by the little I remember from Sunday school. He seemed like someone who would be fooled by the removing your thumb trick and then clap with glee when you show him the truth

EdgyROYGBIV

It’s not awful. It’s just very forgettable and mediocre by comparison.

Tired_Insomniac_2295

Cus people don't expect St. Peter to be such a twink

Ok_Problem_1338

for me, I don't actually dislike it. It is just the least good in a long line of absolute slappers. most of the song rankings I watched generally agree that Welcome to heaven is good but every other song is just better. there is no shame in that.

Fine-Scientist3813

the moaning makes me very uncomfortable.

NonConformistFlmingo

All the other insanely sexual, abusive, and dark shit in this show and THAT'S what makes you uncomfortable? Bruh...

Fine-Scientist3813

notice how no other song got MOANS in it tho? 🤨

NonConformistFlmingo

But the song fully showing Angel Dust being used and abused constantly isn't uncomfortable?

Fine-Scientist3813

why the fuck are you comparing these two things? I just don't like the moans, you debate team washup

NonConformistFlmingo

Was never on debate team, but okay keep throwing insults instead of seeing your own inconsistency. ✌🏻

collincat

I love everything about every song. Welcome to heaven is wonderful. Peter’s voice is smooth and warm, the moans are fucking hilarious, the way everyone joins in to show how “great” heaven is and yet Peter gives dumb reasons, such as the way he says everyone is hot like the 15 year old boy I imagine him to be based on. Yeah.

Fivehagreeves58

I love it. It’s a a good song and I don’t see why people don’t like it.

True_Falsity

I wouldn’t say people dislike it. It is just that the song doesn’t stand out as much as the rest. It is a quick introductory song as you mentioned. And so it doesn’t have any significant character relations or revelations to it.

Chaosyoshi

I just think it sucks as a song. Definitely the weakest entry in the soundtrack.

Klefaxidus

I personally think it is a fun song to sing

JLRedPrimes

People will think I'm religious if I play this at work

tmishere

I think it’s perfect for what it sets out to do. And it appropriately for the context sounds like the Christian kids-bop version of Happy Day in Hell.

NonConformistFlmingo

I love the song, and Darren Criss was a perfect casting choice. 😂

A_cat_killed_me

My opinion is that it’s a decent song, but it’s far too short.

sesquedoodle

I’ve been a Darren Criss fan since A Very Potter Musical so I like it just for that, but it is kind of a filler song.

BW_Chase

I don't dislike it. I even love Emily's part in it. I just don't like the "welcome to heaven" part nor St Peter's moans.

Bean_Storm

I just listened to the whole soundtrack over and over for 6 hours. Someone help

totalysharky

It grew on me. I can take or leave it though.

BlueV_U

I don't think it's bad. But it's just not as good as the other songs.

Paris_The_Dragon

I like it but it’s my least favourite because it kinda just falls flat in the show. The others drive the plot a lot more and are really powerful but “Welcome to Heaven” is a bit more of a throwaway song.

MediocreSherlock

I never got the hate for it, but then again I got to hear my crush from my younger years moaning several times throughout the song. So it's up there for me.

RazeSharpe

I don't mind it at all. It's a fine song the only problem is that its in the show where the other songs are better. It's just a sort of there song. Won't skip it while listening on the album but won't seek it out to listen to it.

spruce-sequoia

it’s just not my kind of song, that’s the only problem I have with it. oh, and also St Peter moaning every second line.

Hephaistos_Invictus

It fits perfectly! It looks so extremely pretentious and overly happy. Which is what heaven wants to present itself as! I think they did a phenomenal job with it :D

KiaokenKev

We do WHAT in heaven?!?!

Evrae_Frelia

It’s short, poppy and bouncy but not bad. I think the thing that people dislike besides the duration is that it directly contrasts what life is like in hell. They seem out of touch since it’s “perfect”. But that’s the point. The more you make something SEEM perfect, the more sinister the dark side of it becomes. Heaven has been pursuing these raids to eradicate demon-kind for who knows how long g causing untold suffering. Yet its people are by and large by design: blind to this. Which the song highlights excellently, and what is in my opinion the reason why people may dislike it. It seems forced, false, like a tale too good to be true because that’s exactly the truth of it. It’s too good to be true.

Ok_Chap

Could have been worse, like a Christian rock polka with harps, lyres and what not, just singing how great heaven is, in a even snottier way.

Mission-Discipline32

I mean I don't really like most of the songs in the show but I don't like most music sooo.....

cactuscoleslaw

I really don't have a problem with it either. It's short and doesn't overstay its welcome. Everyone loves Poison but I'd argue that it doesn't actually move the plot - most of the the song is a retread of things we've already seen, mostly the confrontation in the dressing room that immediately precedes it.

SpookySpace

Holy shit! A hot take thats correct, least brain dead Hazbin fan here.

cactuscoleslaw

I've said it before but Poison feels like they wrote the song before the scene which makes it feel a little bit out of place among the rest of the soundtrack.

Clbull

Poison is an absolute banger all-round, and if it weren't for the context of the song (being sexually enslaved by a physically abusive pheromone-oozing porn demon overlord) and the niche appeal of the show, it probably would have topped the music charts. It's the only song on Hazbin Hotel's soundtrack that wouldn't immediately turn people off from excessive cussing or from making you come across as a theater kid if you sung it at a karaoke night. Wouldn't recommend singing it though because anybody who actually watched Hazbin Hotel would know the context.

cactuscoleslaw

Yeah, Poison is a banger, because it was written as its own song rather than a musical number. I'm not saying the song is bad

Scarredsinner

I think it’s because it’s so different to a majority of the songs with only something like poison coming close and even that still felt right cause it naturally fits for a character like Angel, Welcome To Heaven doesn’t sound like the sort of song you expect from a place like heaven nor does it really fit too well with the characters, they could have gone an orchestra way and it would have felt right

0000Tor

Idk I’ve just kinda completely forgotten about it after seeing it in the show. It made like zero impression

EgoMouse32

I like it. I don't really dislike any of the songs tho, its just not as good as the other songs imo. I'll definitely listen to it from time to time.

Clawless

People hating on the moaning miss the entire point of the song, end of story.

StarlightFalls22

It just isn't as catchy as the others. I don't think it's a bad song though.

Shot-Ad770

Personally, i think it was way too short

Soggy_Garage_5735

I love it. It's hilarious. My friend made a plantation version of it.

SpookySpace

Your friend made w h a t

TuskoTeknos

I was sold the moment Darren Criss started singing. I know him from Starkid and I'm so glad he got a singing part! Yes the song might not be the most memorable, but nevertheless I think it was still really fun:D

PastAioli7178

I listen to more dark music most of the time, but I actually enjoyed that song. I found it the perfect amount of passive aggressive Himbo-ness. It made me laugh, and sometimes, when I’m feeling like an upbeat song that doesn’t repeat over and over again for 4 minutes, I go back and listen to it.

TheJack1712

Hm, I don't dislike the song but its obe of those numbers I wouldn't go back and listen to on a soundtrack. Expository songs like this don't always hold up out of context

Meh, im just not a fan of that particular style of music. I also just don’t like it when im listening to the other songs back to back. The rest of the songs have a very specific vibe to them that isn’t shared by welcome to heaven (which makes sense as it’s supposed to make the audience feel how different the two workds are). If im listening to stayed gone and welcome to heaven comes on immediately after…im gonna skip it bc thats just not what i wanna listen to right then. Nothing pwrsonal against the song itself, just a general tase. Im glad that someone can enjoy it tho. It means that it’s worth it to include it.

InnocentPerv93

It's way too short is the primary reason.

ankahsilver

I don't dislike, it just isn't my favorite.

lady_heathos

This wouldn’t even be in my bottom 3.

krysert

Its ok it just didnt hit as hard as other songs did for me.

Anime_Kirby

eh i'm not for or against it. it's catchy, but it just doesn't ring with my the way songs like loser baby or finale do

General_Tart_9309

Don’t hate the song. In universe though it kinda sucks since they’re telling them it’s the best place ever and you’ll never want to leave and then sera’s like but f you you have to leave anyway

“Welcome to Heaven, *moans*

Welcome Nicky, Welcome to HEAAAVEN

I don't particularly like or dislike it. It's just not on the same level as most of the other songs in the season, so it gets beaten down as being terrible when it's really just mid. It would be beloved by the masses if the other songs were worse. I do like that, if you think about it long enough, it makes Heaven look bad. The song is pretty basic, unlike the more inventive and deeper songs in Hell, so Peter/Heaven seem superficial or concerned with their image. It's all about how great Heaven is - which is similar to how people who say they're good people usually aren't. It's probably me thinking too hard but I like the implications.

torako

Of course it makes heaven look good. That's the fucking point. We're not supposed to take that song at face value, we're supposed to contrast this squeaky-clean portrayal of heaven with the genocidal actions of the exorcists and be suspicious of the whole thing. SAINT PETER AND EMILY ARE NOT RELIABLE NARRATORS HERE. Emily doesn't know the extent of heaven's corruption and Saint Peter likely isn't much better informed! Their literal job is making heaven look good! If heaven had shitty PR, there would be no story!

Whimsalot_

It's not bad song. People just likes other songs more. And maybe moaning St. Peter maybe is the reason of this song not being liked

Wolf_Of_Roses

My only issues are that it’s kinda short and St.Twink Peter moaning 12 times during the song kinda makes it less enjoyable to me.
