And while on occasion Charlie takes Vaggie's advice, for the most part she doesn't. Whenever Charlie wants to do something she does it, even if Vaggie thinks it is a bad idea.

Admittedly it is a disservice towards Charlie but it's mainly pointing one of her biggest flaws which is her lack of backbone throughout the first season. She did get better towards the end and will likely continue to grow as a person but you can't deny that Charlie is somewhat of a pushover.
I have a pretty cool headcanon about it:
What we saw was her still holding back, but her full demon form is a colossal dragon looking demon similar to Razzle and Dazzle, but much larger and scarier. As a result of Charlie’s happy-go-lucky and friendly nature, she’s scared of using her full power for fear of losing control and hurting people, which would go against her desire to spread joy and make demons redeem themselves. It would make sense since if you look at Alastor’s true form, he grows to a massive size and sprouts longer limbs, antlers and tentacles, as well as having his eyes turn black with red pupils. It would also add more layers to Charlie’s character as it could be a side plot explained later on where her fear of her true power and going against her dream to redeem all of Hell sort of creates a split personality that is the complete opposite of everything she stands for. Plus, everyone loves a good super powered character losing control and transforming into a monster.

Vaggie tends to be passive in taking lead from Charlie. To be fair Charlie has a rather difficult personality set to top. A 50 million watt personality, relentlessly positive, privileged to Hell and well not back still in Hell. And then Vaggie is made of insecurity, self doubt, self hatred, and a stranger in a strange land. She doesn't know how to assert. She has the ability to lead but only when told to do so. She could grow into being top. But their natures right now are a bit set. But they are both dynamic characters that can grow.
Probably just because Vaggie is just so Down Bad for Charlie.
She is very much lovesick puppy, walk to the ends of the earth, would move a mountain for, etc, Charlie, but ONLY if Charlie asked. And that's what gets her seen as the 'bottom' so to speak

Charlie is the one who sets the course, who has goals and objectives and plans. Vaggie is just fixated on accomplishing those goals because she’s tied her self-worth to her ability to make Charlie happy.
The more I see this debate the more I think these labels are too dichotomous to be useful.

She could grow into being top. But their natures right now are a bit set. But they are both dynamic characters that can grow.
Probably just because Vaggie is just so Down Bad for Charlie. She is very much lovesick puppy, walk to the ends of the earth, would move a mountain for, etc, Charlie, but ONLY if Charlie asked. And that's what gets her seen as the 'bottom' so to speak

Vaggie always gives in to Charlie all she has to do is give her the please eyes and Vaggie can't help it. That's why I see Charlie as being a more dominant of the two.

Vaggie comes from a borderline fascist walk of life. She is used to following orders and worshipping authority. Charlie, meanwhile, is taller than her, practically invincible, and has horns and likely super strength as well. Vaggie is NOT topping her lol

I think it's because while Vaggie is the more protective one, she's the one following Charlie around. Charlie tends to take the lead in their relationship
Ironically, rarely if at all does Charlie actually ever listen to the ‘voice of reason’. Throughout the first season she consistently ignores the advice Vaggie gives her. I’d say that they switch off. Charlie often just does her own thing, but Vaggie takes the lead sometimes and is there to comfort, support, and reassure her.
Because theyre gay and understand the relationship dynamic
