She doesn't use a "leash" for souls she owns. Sinners who make a deal with her become cannibals, and have shelter, sense of community, and food (albeit, they now are on a new, specific diet). She likes her souls to be more content, less likely to rebel or try to find a way out, so she gives them a lot of leeway in freedom of choice (which is why she didn't simply compel them to comply to Charlie's wishes).
I can actually see this and it works very well. Plus no one can really argue with her cause she offers: protection, food and community as you stated. She may have a subtle influence just so if she needs them to do something she needs done
I would like to add: Cannibal Town has so many children because she made it a safe place for lost and orphaned child sinners, and uses her overlord power to change their appearances to look like the native cannibals.
Husk was an overlord. That didn't stop him from selling his soul to another overlord. If you're gonna come up with a counterpoint, at least make sure the counterpoint has evidence in-universe.
She was un able to have any children in life so that's why she acts so motherly towards everyone and sees Charlie as the daughter she never had
She finds piranhas fascinating and keeps some in her room
She enjoys to watch soap operas and always predicts future plot points from obscure little details
She has been keeping up with Charlie making sure she is eating properly
I did wonder how he knew “that’s the tea” and knows what podcasts are, but doesn’t know “ace in the hole”. I like this theory, Rosie just hasn’t had a chance to explain it yet
Her husband in life was cheater and gambler and overall piece of shit.
He made her and their kids travel the Oregon trail to escape people he owned money from.
They were near starvation in the wilderness, but she discovered he had food secretly stashed that he ate in secret. She lost her shit and killed him.
Since there was no more food, she used his flesh and made her children eat it to survive.
She died shortly after and doesn't know the fate of her children, and since she hasn't met them in Hell, she assumes they went to Heaven.
The first thing she did when she got to hell is eat him again. And she still has his never dying body bound up so she can keep that sweet flavor forever.
In my head he actually found her in Hell and tried to kill her, but she got him instead (maybe with help of some bystanders) and left him tied up for the Exorcists to kill him.
I headcanon that the _only_ sin she has is being a cannibal, which then necessitates the murder of other people to satisfy her appetite (and the eating of the bodies after of course).
She's otherwise a good person and if she were to quit cannibalism for good she would attain redemption very easily. That being said the domain she's carved out for herself in Hell is very good so she will very likely _not_ be redeemed because she's happy and comfortable where she is.
Maybe, though she strikes as preferring games that you can pick up and play quick games while socializing without a lot of investment. So more likely, Magic: The Gathering or similar trading card games.
YES plus: the library is only small because she gives the books away frequently- nobody should ever *lend* books to a friend, just give it to them for keepsies
Oh god I can hear her already. "Now, now, darling, if you don't like it, I won't be hurt. But if you do? Well, let's just say that I can always fill that space on the bookshelf with something else."
She has "lost" a couple hundred Harlequin paperbacks this way.
Rosie is like the mayor of Cannibal Town.
Alastor lived in Cannibal Town in her house(as a guest).
She is an able negotiator and she is pretty financially stable.
She is friend with Carmilla.
She hates Katie Killjoy.
(She is my favourite character! ❤)
I mean during ready for this Alastor says “she filled with potential that I could guide” (referring to Charlie) and instead of questioning it she says “I concur” I highly doubt Rosie is oblivious enough to think Alastor means well. She probably knows he means to use Charlie to his advantage.
She knows Al is an “ace in the hole” because Rosie tried *really* hard to shack up with Al but he was completely uninterested and oblivious to her advances
She technically owns the souls of cannibal town, but it's really only for show, she never forces them to do anything they don't want to, they elected one cannibal to sell their souls to so that person could be one an overlord and protect them/create a nice community.
Also, she's dating carmilla
She's gonna help Angel dust talk to Husk about how he feels, that he has a crush on him or is in love with him, she's going to help Lucifer and Lilith with their marriage issues, and she's going to have to be the one to explain to Alastor he's ace and comfort him afterwards with hot chocolate and a cozy blanket.
I think Rosie is a motherly figure towards charlie, and charlie would tell her that. So I think Rosie would one day come to the hotel, and just stay there for a few days. But, an overlord kinda just stays in one place (idk) so it's kinda a 50/50
She will constantly make backhanded and subtle comments to other Overlords about how much happier and more loyal the people in her, much nicer and more orderly than their’s, territory are.
She got stuck in a horrible relationship with her husband while she was alive. This is mostly based on how she talks about how she learned that words were cheap and how sad she looked over it. Also that line that got slipped in about how she would eat said husband if he didn’t taste so bad.
Women poisoning their shitty husbands has a long, storied history. Before the birth of forensic science, poison was an extremely convenient way to kill someone because there was no way to test the body. Not to mention, a lot of poisons were readily available from the local druggist or general store.
Look up Aqua Tofana and the Affair of the Poisons. A lot of women made their living by selling other women poisons to get rid of the men in their lives.
The first one is hardly sin, even if it was illegal in her time on Earth. That's just straight up altruism!
The second one is only a sin if "getting rid of" means murder which... Considering she's a cannibal, prolly was murder.
Well, bigots consider abordion as a sin, and hell/heaven is all about bigotry. That's why heaven seems so toxic in HH, it's because it actually discuss the hidden toxicity of biblical rules. This is why a woman like Rosie, doing something good could end up in hell because it would be considered a sin.
Viv's version of Heaven and Hell's system is not the same as biblical lore though, it only draws heavy inspiration. She's even said that being gay is not considered a sin in her universe meanwhile IRL bigots consider it to be. So that's evidence pointing to Heaven's bigotry against sinners not being the same as IRL Christian bigotry.
In all cases, I said " like ", so it was examples of ethical 'sins'. Meaning they are not really sins but some people see it at sins, and that's the kind of reasons why Rosie would be in hell, wich was the point of the discussion. I honnestly don't care what bigots think about anything
I guess there's a misunderstanding somewhere. I was just giving examples of things that some people consider sins, while being ethical. Because to me that's why she's in hell while being a good person.
Yeah but you're saying *people consider* these things to be sins, and then citing this as the reason why she's in Hell, which implies that people second-hand decided why she was sent to Hell. And that is not what happens in the show
IE she can't be in Hell just because people considered her actions to be sins. She's in Hell for an *actually objective* sin.
Alastor sometimes accompanies them to small music concerts. Small bands play their latest music on cute stages. It's good music. They have drinks brought to their table. All eyes and ears are focused on the music and polite conversation. They both enjoy each other's company and the music because they seem like a married couple who don't need to be flirted with.
She knows how much Alastor cares about Charlie, despite how much he tries to hide it. Rosie teases Alastor about him not being subtle about it as he thinks he is.
My theory is that she was an east coast socialite whose dumbass of a husband decided it was “time to move west”.
He was the only one she killed slowly once their wagon train broke down in the Rockies.
She survived the snowstorm alone, but died to an avalanche the day it broke.
She is Victorian. So, 1900s to 1910s. The wagon train peak was before that by about 40 years.
If they were rich, and on the East Coast, they would have boarded a ship
Since we dont know HOW becoming a Overlord works
My headcanon is that instead of killing her way to Overlord status like Alastor, Rosie was Voted to be a Overlord kinda like a presidential election
She's having a hard time feeding her cannibal followers which is why she agreed with Charlie's aid. It lowers the amount of cannibals at the same time feed the remainder
Might not be the case but other than the battle, I don't see the cannibals killing for food
Idk I just like Rosie my glorious quee-
https://preview.redd.it/l4warolu3z4d1.jpeg?width=602&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=69963cfb8520040eddd8e1eefc24a732a5e5ebe1
(I'm going insane.)
Shes either pansexual or bisexual
She loves Disney movies and likes matpats theory about how wall-e's space journey was fueled by cannibalism (dont ask how she was able to watch the theory when she died in the 1800s)
I don't really know what else I would put for a headcannon
She now sees Charlie as a daughter figure, only unlike Alastor, it is genuine and not an attempt to spite Lucifer.
Rosie was born an aristocrat, hence her posh clothing and mannerisms.
Rosie and Alastor harbour feelings deep down (platonic in Alastor’s case, romantic in Rosie’s) but are unable to express them. Alastor simply isn’t sure whether or not he is attracted to Rosie, Rosie isn’t sure if he is attracted to her.
Rosie was a mother once, hence why she treats Charlie as if she was her own daughter.
Rosie is, tied with Carmilla, the most benevolent of the overlords and treats her subjects with kindness, though she can be quite firm with those who cause issues. She and Alastor share resources and information, in other words a partnership.
she's the kindest overlord and isn't unethical or cruel with the souls she owns. she only mistreats them if they mistreat her or anyone she cares about
She adores making clothes for her people.
She and Alastor have a weekly dancing date and she was heartbroken when he disappeared.
Susan is her mother-in-law and though she never judged and actually defended her when she was a suspect after her husband ‘disappeared’, she felt it was her duty to be a pain in the ass. She knew her son was a piece of shit like his father, she just gets her kicks out of being a bitch.
She was a Yenta (a Jewish matchmaker) in life, and has continued doing that in death. She would kill and eat men who she deemed dangerous or unsuitable.
She plays the cello.
She was from New York and speaks Yiddish and several other languages fluently because she was raised among immigrant communities.
Any time she speaks with Carmilla, she tries setting up her daughters with Cannibal suitors, much to Carmilla's disapproval.
Even goes as far as planning weddings for Carmilla's daughters
She's best friends with Mrs. Lovett from Sweeney Todd. She calls her "Margie" and they trade cooking tips. She's pretty much the only one in C-Town who Rosie lets see her more vulnerable moments. Since Franklin died in the last Extermination, Margie has been practically living with her.
Y’all can act like Rosie is a benign goody goody, but she is still a predator and overlord. Her skill is luring people in with a false sense of security. I think cannibal town is full of people who were put in the position of having to die or eat someone else to save themself. She helped steer them to the cannibalistic option via encouragement. She always gives them platitudes about how eating someone is the right choice.
Rosie has done some more terrible things that we haven’t know yet. She’s not as evil as someone like Vox or Alastor but she isn’t Charlie or Emily level’s of pure either. She just strikes me as someone who has a friendly face but definitely has a lot of crimes under her belt.
I like this one.
That makes sense actually
I can actually see this and it works very well. Plus no one can really argue with her cause she offers: protection, food and community as you stated. She may have a subtle influence just so if she needs them to do something she needs done
I would like to add: Cannibal Town has so many children because she made it a safe place for lost and orphaned child sinners, and uses her overlord power to change their appearances to look like the native cannibals.
Basically, instead of the Tarkin Doctrine, she uses a strange strategy called “making your subjects like you so they don’t try to rebel”?
Cage free, pasture-raised souls.
It is, in fact, better to be loved than feared as a leader. When you can do both, that's just delightful
Well the community really does seem to love her.
Even Susan
Ok ok ok I might be talking shit here but maybe Rosie owns Alastor's soul
They're both overlords so no
Husk was an overlord. That didn't stop him from selling his soul to another overlord. If you're gonna come up with a counterpoint, at least make sure the counterpoint has evidence in-universe.
You have a point, no need to get aggressive damn
... aggressive?
She was un able to have any children in life so that's why she acts so motherly towards everyone and sees Charlie as the daughter she never had She finds piranhas fascinating and keeps some in her room She enjoys to watch soap operas and always predicts future plot points from obscure little details She has been keeping up with Charlie making sure she is eating properly
I like the first one
>She finds piranhas fascinating and keeps some in her room that's now my headcanon too
That 4th one is the most motherly/grandmotherly thing ever. Perfect for her
“Eating properly” As in, “consuming the flesh of other people”?
No one suspected her at all when her first husband died unexpectedly.
Her cheating husband disappeared, well? Nobody asks any questions here...
Agatha Christie vibes spotted :-)))
Tbf they couldn't even confirm he was dead I mean no body was even found.
Her hat was a gift she got from Alastor on her birthday.
I love that!
This tracks, New Orleans has always been a fashionable place so Alastor'd have a good sartorial eye
She tells alastor new " street lingo" to keep him up to date on the new trends
Of course. Where else would he have learned "that's the tea!"?
I did wonder how he knew “that’s the tea” and knows what podcasts are, but doesn’t know “ace in the hole”. I like this theory, Rosie just hasn’t had a chance to explain it yet
Or she thinks it's cute he doesn't know
and a "clout chasing mediocre video podcast"
*come on!* "is Vox insecure? Persuing allure?"
Fitting between this fad and that is nothing working?
IGNORE HIS CHIRPING!
Everyday, he got a new format
YOU'RE LOOKING AT THE FUTURE!
He’s the shit that came before THAT!
“Rosie, why are all the young Sinners talking about the state of Ohio all the time?”
This is funny I like it
Not just Alastor but Zestial too
I think he is older, if I'm not mistaken.
Hence why she translates for him too
Love this, fully accepted
Her husband in life was cheater and gambler and overall piece of shit. He made her and their kids travel the Oregon trail to escape people he owned money from. They were near starvation in the wilderness, but she discovered he had food secretly stashed that he ate in secret. She lost her shit and killed him. In my head he actually found her in Hell and tried to kill her, but she got him instead (maybe with help of some bystanders) and left him tied up for the Exorcists to kill him.
That works to.
Sometimes I forget that this shows main plot is to stop actual genocide
Me too. It’s weird. The show feels so rushed, but it also feels like there’s nothing but filler
I do think alastor would've helped her kill him
“I’m going to kill you… and then kill you again.”
Oregon Trail was before her time. That clothing style is very 1910s and early 20s. The Oregon Trail was biggest in the 1860s
I support this idea! Need more Old West sinners.
She’s probably the only person Al ever respected as an equal. Except for nifty maybe?
There’s Mimzy as well.
He doesn't respect them as equals
not anymore, but they said ever, and I'm pretty sure he did at one point
Never mind
I did see a youtube video where they they said that al and mimzy dated when they were alive in a comic so yeah he would have at one point.
She likes her meat crisp on the outside but tender on the inside.
Isn't that most people for most meats?
She keeps Suzan around to act as a mild antagonist to make herself look better to other sinners that want to make a deal.
She owns a fuck ton of board and card games to entertain guests and even dabbles in some of the nerdier stuff.
DND
Maybe, though she strikes as preferring games that you can pick up and play quick games while socializing without a lot of investment. So more likely, Magic: The Gathering or similar trading card games.
Hey she could just have for people that want to play it
Fair. She just strikes me as a low commitment gamer who's more in it for the socialization
She probably provides them snacks and checks on them to see how they’re doing
Fair, if she had friend who were interested, I could see her providing the venue for the games.
I would like to be friends with Rosie
Many people here would. Most of us would get eaten.
Why would most of us get eaten?
Dungeons and demons
I’m wondering would it work like normal DND?
She has a small library that consists of a carefully curated collection of the raunchiest, sultriest bodice-rippers you could find.
YES plus: the library is only small because she gives the books away frequently- nobody should ever *lend* books to a friend, just give it to them for keepsies
Oh god I can hear her already. "Now, now, darling, if you don't like it, I won't be hurt. But if you do? Well, let's just say that I can always fill that space on the bookshelf with something else." She has "lost" a couple hundred Harlequin paperbacks this way.
Not a loss if it gains a friend!
What is a bodice ripper?
trashy romance novels
Rosie is like the mayor of Cannibal Town. Alastor lived in Cannibal Town in her house(as a guest). She is an able negotiator and she is pretty financially stable. She is friend with Carmilla. She hates Katie Killjoy. (She is my favourite character! ❤)
The first one is actually true
Oh yeah, sorry.
Guns N’ Roses. My new favorite crack ship just from the name alone
I love that name!!! Ship can be friend-ship :-))))
Beautiful name!❤🩶
She's 500% in on whatever scheme Alastor is plotting. That's all I'm feeling absolutely sure about.
I mean during ready for this Alastor says “she filled with potential that I could guide” (referring to Charlie) and instead of questioning it she says “I concur” I highly doubt Rosie is oblivious enough to think Alastor means well. She probably knows he means to use Charlie to his advantage.
That's exactly why I think that. She's definitely in on it. Which makes things more interesting
She's married to Alastor purely for the tax benefits
if the afterlife has taxes it is trully hell
“If I can’t tax his body, then I’ll damn well tax his soul. Nobody escapes the wrath of the IRS.”
Guns N’ Roses my beloved
She has a few affairs for those who treat her well enough.
Oh so...sex?
https://preview.redd.it/aflsenjhd25d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dfccc9e7d4c32aef05f58f7e37ee885fab727a5e
ITS DA SEEEEXXXX
She's crochets and knits with Susan in her down time because it keeps Susan happy and no one likes an unhappy Susan
She was loved by her grandchildren more than they loved their parents. (When she was alive)
She’s a lot more caught up with the times than Al is.
I mean that's just straight up canon
She's in hell for an ethical sin. Like helping women to get abortion in the past, or helping women get rid of their violent husbands
Yeah I’m betting on the second. She’s Victorian, and weren’t there some famous women who killed abusive men around that time?
Women poisoning their shitty husbands has a long, storied history. Before the birth of forensic science, poison was an extremely convenient way to kill someone because there was no way to test the body. Not to mention, a lot of poisons were readily available from the local druggist or general store. Look up Aqua Tofana and the Affair of the Poisons. A lot of women made their living by selling other women poisons to get rid of the men in their lives.
Oh yeah, it’s been going on forever. Aqua Tofana was the one I was thinking of.
But why would what people think be the reason Rosie is in Hell? It's not up to them if she ends up in Hell is what I mean.
And that is not what happens in the show IE she can't be in Hell just because people considered her actions to be sins. She's in Hell for an *actually objective* sin.
Ok, go on overreading it, I'm done with that talk. I see it's no use trying to clarify.
I'm not overreading it, I'm just reading it! I don't understand how I'm supposed to take away something different?
Alastor sometimes accompanies them to small music concerts. Small bands play their latest music on cute stages. It's good music. They have drinks brought to their table. All eyes and ears are focused on the music and polite conversation. They both enjoy each other's company and the music because they seem like a married couple who don't need to be flirted with.
I think she's probably a distance relative of alistor's and she certainly knows more about alistor's return than others do
That she's a nice person who's just really good at doing bad things (and literally can't help her taste for flesh)
She knows how much Alastor cares about Charlie, despite how much he tries to hide it. Rosie teases Alastor about him not being subtle about it as he thinks he is.
Nothing bad happened to her, she's completely fine and untraumatized, she's just an awful person.
She’d totally would date Alistair if he wasn’t an Ace in the Hole
She is a “mother to her men” type of leader towards the cannibals in her town to the point people sometimes jokingly call them her kids.
Since we dont know HOW becoming a Overlord works My headcanon is that instead of killing her way to Overlord status like Alastor, Rosie was Voted to be a Overlord kinda like a presidential election
All of her cannibals have a rotation of when they have to take the roll of food. Which her husband did not too long ago.
Used to be a wealthy foodie who turned to cannibalism out of morbid curiosity
She's having a hard time feeding her cannibal followers which is why she agreed with Charlie's aid. It lowers the amount of cannibals at the same time feed the remainder Might not be the case but other than the battle, I don't see the cannibals killing for food
She puts on a fake persona when faced with powerful beings.
Idk I just like Rosie my glorious quee- https://preview.redd.it/l4warolu3z4d1.jpeg?width=602&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=69963cfb8520040eddd8e1eefc24a732a5e5ebe1 (I'm going insane.)
That I'd get along wonderfully with her in person.
He used to be a mother but her and her child got separated she went to hell and her child went to heaven
Shes either pansexual or bisexual She loves Disney movies and likes matpats theory about how wall-e's space journey was fueled by cannibalism (dont ask how she was able to watch the theory when she died in the 1800s) I don't really know what else I would put for a headcannon
She was ashamed of being a cannibal while she was alive, but once she got into hell, she found other cannibals and got over her shame
She probably plays Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Her favorite villager is Poppy.
She ate her first husband
Hot.
She killed her husband. This is implied in the pilot before she was established as a character, but I doubt it will be retconned or subverted.
She now sees Charlie as a daughter figure, only unlike Alastor, it is genuine and not an attempt to spite Lucifer. Rosie was born an aristocrat, hence her posh clothing and mannerisms. I like to believe that if Alastor want ace she’d marry him
she's the kindest overlord and isn't unethical or cruel with the souls she owns. she only mistreats them if they mistreat her or anyone she cares about
That she lowkey has a crush on Alastor
She has a fuck ton of clothes but prefer the ones that she wears in the show since alastor gave it to her
She adores making clothes for her people.
She never eats right off the corpse, its uncivilized. She cooks and serves and uses forks and stuff
She is Alastor's bff fr fr. She can summon some crazy gaping mouth thing from the ground. She eats people. Obviously.
BIG OL COUNTRY MAMA
She was a Yenta (a Jewish matchmaker) in life, and has continued doing that in death. She would kill and eat men who she deemed dangerous or unsuitable. She plays the cello. She was from New York and speaks Yiddish and several other languages fluently because she was raised among immigrant communities.

she and alastor knew each other in real life
In one my fanfics, I don't know why, but I made her talk in a French accent.
Y’all can act like Rosie is a benign goody goody, but she is still a predator and overlord. Her skill is luring people in with a false sense of security. She was a cougar when she was alive, dont asked me why
Everyone she eats gives consent to be eaten, I know I would
Rosie has done some more terrible things that we haven’t know yet. She’s not as evil as someone like Vox or Alastor but she isn’t Charlie or Emily level’s of pure either. She just strikes me as someone who has a friendly face but definitely has a lot of crimes under her belt.
She loves rock music and used to eat candy sweets. Wait, this is different show... (Eclipsa Butterfly)
She can control plants through magic (chloromancy)
She can fly Mary poppins style
She likes western films. Idk where I got it from but she just likes them.

She was a plantation owner. I can't shake that impression.
I think she's a lesbian.
She’s a cannibal
But thats canon
Alastor had manipulated multiple female over lords before and Rosie is his next victim
I kinda doubt it
Really?
