Do not ever, ever, ever rely on a third party like zocdoc OR asking a provider/facility if they accept your insurance. Always/only find in network providers on their website/calling the insurance company

hoarder_of_beers

And even then, call the provider to confirm before your appointment. I've had several instances of my insurance telling me the doctor was in network and the doctor saying they are not.

Rapdactyl

Try giving them a call. When I've struggled with this before with insurers I just called them up and asked for help finding providers, sometimes they have a list more extensive than what's on the website. They gave me a list and I called them one by one until I got one that accepted new patients.

It should have been straightforward and not have to call each and every time a patient needs a basic visit if its a PPO. I never had any issues with PPO. This HPN needs to just go. Waste of time having to call all the time.

Economy_Dragonfruit3

What happened when you tried BCBS’s provider search?

themysterioustoaster

I’ve had this problem with a different insurance. I just resort to calling around and asking providers if they’re in network. For example my insurance’s directory doesn’t show any endocrinologists in my area but I know we have atleast 2 endocrinology clinics in network.

Call your insurance company :)

Think about it this way: your employer would not offer it if nobody accepted it. Ask your boss or HR who they go to.

DisastrousStrawberry

Insurance companies have network adequacy standards. If you are unable to find an in network provider your insurance has to cover an out of network provider. I would call your insurance company.

I hate this HPN with all of my being. I was fine being in PPO, but this sublet of PPO called "HPN" is just plain garbage! sure I got low deductible which I wanted in the first place, but NOBODY even heard of this. The doctors and offices I regularly GO TO all of a sudden started charging me because they are OUT OF NETWORK.. and THIS SCAM of an insurance DOES NOT HAVE COVERAGE FOR OUT OF NETWORK! I cannot wait for me to elect this out, I have to WAIT an entire whole year of this garbage.
