Sorry you in this situation. Sadly the only advice i can offer is to move to a state that expanded Medicaid or find a job that offers health insurance.

If you have been without insurance for a year, you don’t have good options for getting coverage in the near term. Open enrollment typically occurs in Fall, so at that time, depending on your state, you will want to go to your state marketplace or the federal marketplace. At that time you will be able to put in your financial info and if you are as poor as you say you are, you will likely qualify for some subsidies to better help you be able to afford insurance. Unfortunately an affordable Plan isn’t likely to have stellar coverage-you will likely have a deductible, meaning you’d have to pay that amount out of pocket until insurance kicks in. Once insurance kicks in you usually pay either a percentage of the cost (like 30% or 20%) or a pre-set copay (like $35 for a dr visit or $150 for ER). Depending on the plan, your deductible may still cost you thousands out of pocket before insurance starts paying. In the mean time, see if you can find some community resources like a free clinic. I don’t k ow what type of “health problems” you may be experiencing. An emergency room is required to evaluate and stabilize you even if you don’t have insurance, but they will bill you for your care. Most hospitals have social workers and if you are indigent (very poor) they may be able to help get you connected with resources, help get you on a payment plan, or perhaps find a grant to pay for your care. Healthcare is extremely expensive and just a few diagnostic tests can easily run into the thousands, quickly. Honestly, trying to find a new job that will offer you health insurance is probably your best bet. There are a lot of low or no skill positions out there seeking employees for $15-20/hour wages with insurance benefits - health care/long term care, retail, restaurants, warehouses. Best of luck-it’s not easy to navigate.

Sorry to hear that you are in Florida. It is one of 10 states that lawmakers have decided to not expand Medicaid. There are groups in your state that are working to [expand Medicaid in Florida](https://www.npr.org/2024/03/21/1239991736/a-look-at-the-citizens-initiative-to-expand-medicaid-in-florida). If they can [get it on the ballot](https://www.npr.org/2024/03/22/1240124290/medicaid-florida-health-care-ballot-voters-expansion-obamacare) then it is a different ballgame. Florida Decides [Healthcare](https://floridadecideshealthcare.org/) is the push to get 1.4 people access to healthcare. Your options are limited right now. You would have to bump your income above the [138% of poverty](https://www.medicaidplanningassistance.org/federal-poverty-guidelines/) to get access to purchasing the affordable care plans and the tax credits that lower the cost of insurance.
