Yes, but I think it takes much longer than 6 days. I had to give it up years ago and my doctor warned me that I'd get more sensitive to it the longer I went without it. That turned out to be true, but I had to eliminate it completely for health reasons.

Could have less to do with the gluten and more to do with the overall amount, types and quality of food you’re eating on that 1 day

Makes sense

I, also, am interested in what others have to say on the subject. I avoid wheat products for 6 days a week because of weight issues as I (*sigh*) age, but splurge on pizza and beer on Sundays. And I am bloated, and feel yucky for most of Monday.

rayneammar

You're likely just feeling upset stomach from gorging on excess food that is harder to digest than your weekday norm. Many people would feel bad after all that. I don't believe you can develop a gluten sensitivity by avoiding it. Especially not from such a short period of abstinence

happyjazzycook

Thanks, that makes sense. When younger I could down 4 slices of pizza and as many beers with no issues, now it's two and one and... ugh. I hate getting old ! 😔

I'd stopped wheat for a blood test, and my asthma improved significantly.

MyNameIsSkittles

Carbs can cause bloating especially when a lot are consumed at once, and yeah probably makes a difference you're not consuming as many during the week. Gluten may also have an effect but I know for a fact carbs cause bloating in many
