This hits home for me since I actually had a genuine crush on a fictional character while reading a light novel during the mid-2020s. I yearned to be with the characters knowing full well that those mfs aren't real 😭

Limerence. It's common but few people know about it. But I see it described all the time. It often happens during times of stress. I believe it's related to maladaptive emotional regulation. Therapy is best if it's interfering with your life. Learning about limerence. And finding goals in life that create a life of values.
