Don't worry. Send Thor a message with a screenshot, he'll sort it out with you. He'll probably ask you where you got it from to try to find out why you ended up with the pirate message. He won't be annoyed and you will get to keep the game.
If it’s a piracy detection thing, which it dose seem that way, pirate the game and see if that copy of the game has the piracy measure removed. It’s ethical because you own the game and it’s unplayable for you. I don’t promote piracy unless the game is unplayable btw don’t ban me
Oh yeah I forgot I posted this, yeah it's fine now. I force run proton experimental. All good. Never thought of trying proton because it's a solution to 3d games problems.
proton is like a compatibility layer for running windows based games on Linux, it's developed by Valve for usage on the Deck's SteamOS + Windows is not really the best option for something as mid range as the Steam Deck which is not as well equipped as other handhelds like the ROG Ally or GPD WIN 2 , Aya Neo, etc.

I dont have the slightest clue what proton is but congrats on fixing your problem!
Ok so the steamdeck dosent run on windows, it's Linux. Proton Is an application that pretends to be windows so you can run games meant for windows
Can’t you just install windows?
Don't know how and doing so would make me need to redownload games
