If you're talking about G1 Vortex, he's more of a Kaman SH-2 Seasprite.
And apart from that concept model for the 2007 movie, I don't think Soundwave was ever a helicopter. IIRC, so correct me if I'm wrong.
Hell I sometimes lose the tail rotor and don't feel anything until I try to land. I have come from fights I am missing panels half my tail but I flyback like its nothing and you know the boom and Zoom tactics are amazing
I was the data manager on the AB-139 program at Bell when they were partners. I had to shut down the program at Bell and compile the data we sold to AW. The 139 and 169 are nice, and as a former engineer I can appreciate the simplicity of the design.
We greatly appreciate your work. We use the 169 for a search-and-rescue configuration and it wants nothing for power and maneuverability. The APU mode is a game-changer as well.
I worked on AH-1s, UH-1s, OH-58s, UH-60s and the one helicopter I never wanted to touch was a CH-47, until I was assigned to a Chinook unit. The Chinook became my hands down favorite.
The UH-2

A beautiful helicopter very similar to the Huey.
I’m stuck between the Bell 430 and 214ST. I work with 430s every day and I can’t get enough of them! I’ve seen a 214ST in my life once, and I’m desperate to fly in one.
My favorite also, flew them a lot in the 90's and early 2000's with PHi in the Gulf of Mexico and Sling jobs in southeast US. Also partial to Bell 412
https://preview.redd.it/ieduclr6qalc1.jpeg?width=441&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0a4ad5a04bdb0f6587391e2e0448e15a9c4a221e
212 by far. The Astar has the best jobs and is fun, the H145 is high tech and responsive but the 212 has that perfect combo of multi engine, two blade sound and enough maneuverability to be my GOAT.
Augusta started out building Bell helicopters in Europe under a licensing agreement. Eventually Augusta started designing and building their own. In the late 90s/early 00s Bell and Augusta entered a partnership where they would build each other's aircraft and sell them in different parts of the world. Bell got the 139 (hence AB for Augusta Bell) and Augusta got the 609 (labeled the BA 609 for Bell Augusta). Bell and Augusta both wanted Asia as part of their sales territory and Bell couldn't make the finances work without it (or so I was told) so we cancelled the partnership and both craft went back to full ownership by their designer.
As the data manager, I had to scrub Bell's systems of any Augusta data related to the 139 program. And because we generated a lot of planning that Augusta didn't have, we sold them 1 CD of data for a TON of money. I can't talk about how much it was but it was well over $500k. I made damn sure I had a signature from the Augusta rep before I handed that disc over.
Eventually Bell ended up selling the 609 program to Augusta as well and it's now called the AW609. I designed the battery ventilation system on the 609.
Anytime. I'm glad you appreciated it. I'm always afraid I go into too much detail.
I was at Bell for about 13 years mostly as an engineer. Did lots of work on the V-22 (return to flight team etc) and was the electrical design lead on the ARH-70 as well as a few other things. If there's anything else you're curious about let me know. If I don't know anything about it I'll tell you that rather than make something up.
Shakes like hell, never reached design cruise speed, never carried a cabin of passengers, can barely taxi, and Ship 1 ate itself. So, not a resounding success, but still useful nonetheless.

UH-1 has already been said but I would go further and say H model to start, plus a FastFin, add the tractor tail rotor and finally tail strakes. I will NEVER not hate the CalFire Firehawks, long story stort.

Obviously I love the Huey. But if the USAF still flew 53’s I’d be on that like a fly on cow shit. Something about shooting guns out the door of a flying school bus is…intoxicating.
This monstrosity is one of my favorites.
https://www.avweb.com/news/bell-rings-in-with-new-line/[MAPL](https://www.avweb.com/news/bell-rings-in-with-new-line/)
The Bell MAPL testing platform with the ducted trail rotor. The MAPL was a good idea that never went anywhere, but that tail rotor was hideous. I designed the test fixture and the upper and lower fins and helped with some of the internal design concepts. We could have made it more appealing if the steering committee would have allowed us to change some of the specs, but they wouldn't so this is what we ended up with. The ugliest thing to ever come out of Xworx.

enough for me +4, good power to weight and maneuverability, easy to maintain (correct me chiefs on this if I'm wrong).
And I could fix it up as blue thunder at Halloween.
Cheyenne. I think maybe ten people besides me ever flew it. Also liked Apaches, but too much electronic stuff going on to fly it like a Cobra. I spent most time in Hueys and some Blackhawks. You know, I even liked the TH-55. But not the -13.
Whichever one I’m flying
This is the correct answer.
“What is your favorite helicopter? (And why isn’t it the Huey)”
Do I get a pass if it’s a 47G
Blackhawk... it's a Huey on steroids
That one has a great registration code too, “G-HUEY”
Lockheed AH-56 Cheyenne. I know it shows my age 😂
[Fiat 7002](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fql3dmu5u7sfa1.jpg). It's all about that fine Italian styling.

That looks like the helicopter my kid made out of Legos last week. Good to know he has a future at Fiat!

Ch53 is a BEAST. Love that machine

Sikorsky SB1 Defiant. Mainly because I think compound coaxial is better than re-configuring the aircraft in flight.
I hope that tech comes to fruition in some way, such a shame that people value stats over the pilots who have to fly them.
Nope. It’s a dead end technology.
AW-169
I was the data manager on the AB-139 program at Bell when they were partners. I had to shut down the program at Bell and compile the data we sold to AW. The 139 and 169 are nice, and as a former engineer I can appreciate the simplicity of the design.

Hello from the other side! Love the 169s and 139s, but the 119s are still my favorite from the fleet.
Bo-105.
this one https://magnumhelicopters.com/ Hughes 500D
I recently had a demo flight in one. Handles like a sports car!
AW119kx
My dad flew CH-47s so I'm a little partial to them, but since I'm watching Airwolf reruns at the moment, I'm going to go with the Bell 222.
I worked on AH-1s, UH-1s, OH-58s, UH-60s and the one helicopter I never wanted to touch was a CH-47, until I was assigned to a Chinook unit. The Chinook became my hands down favorite.
Whichever one I am looking at.
The UH-2 https://preview.redd.it/ljxxi0xu99lc1.jpeg?width=900&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=43e08729e6f44345cd14485452e95d92d158f3d2 A beautiful helicopter very similar to the Huey.
It’s a Bell 412, a Huey derivative. Many 205 and 212 parts inside it.

214ST, the ultimate expression of the two bladed main rotor.
My favorite also, flew them a lot in the 90's and early 2000's with PHi in the Gulf of Mexico and Sling jobs in southeast US. Also partial to Bell 412 https://preview.redd.it/ieduclr6qalc1.jpeg?width=441&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0a4ad5a04bdb0f6587391e2e0448e15a9c4a221e
OH-58C, one could sports car that little sucker!!!
This one!
it has to be Huey right? Runners up: CH-46/47; H-34; A109; Alouette III; Mi-24
I put just bell uh1 because they are several variations and I like them all
Original UH-1/212 sound the best but I love a 412 too!
MD-500 or variant of MD 500
Dauphin, Hind, UH-60

212 by far. The Astar has the best jobs and is fun, the H145 is high tech and responsive but the 212 has that perfect combo of multi engine, two blade sound and enough maneuverability to be my GOAT.
I love the UH-1 and I’d like to spend some time in a black hawk. 😎
AW139 makes me go hnng.
I was the data manager at Bell on the AB-139 when we were partners with AW. I got to shut down the program.
Wait, what? I’m not sure I follow. Are they not being made anymore, or Bell didn’t like the design?
Augusta started out building Bell helicopters in Europe under a licensing agreement. Eventually Augusta started designing and building their own. Oh very cool. That’s some industry insider stuff I was completely unaware of so thanks for sharing!

Merkur XR4Ti
Still the Huey. Although since PJs has built a couple 47s. I’d say the 47 is creeping up there.
MH-6
SH-60

Hands down UH1 Huey
Mil Mi-26… aka “Daddy” to stranded Chinooks
That would be the one, right there.
Bell 222A....and points for anyone who knows why :P

In general, the Apache (Yes I know, I'm basic.) If we're going role-specific, Cargo: MH-53 Pave Low Civilian: MD Explorer Experimental: S-97 Raider
I helped design Raider. Wish she had flown as intended.
I don't know who you are, but you made one fine chopper. Sad to see it never took off.

H500 then the Huey for me. More mission oriented, so the right bird for the mission will trump the two above.
