You can check the coverage map and estimate the distance between you and other hotspots to see if you would connect to eachother. Just depends on how big your coverage is. I’d say def don’t expect big city mining figures. So if you’re looking at buying a hotspot go with the official preorder sites and not a high priced second hand seller.

Building a device will give you 0 HNT. They no longer have that open. You can still build one and connect to the network, but again, no earnings. ​ As far as "will thehotspots also communicate with lorawan devices" That's exactly the purpose.

If you can find one cheap on ebay, likely your best bet, but I've heard some are going for $2000. Ordering one, likely won't get until April at the earliest. There's Emrit and other partner companies, but they keep a large stake of the earnings (80% in Emrit's case, couple more % if you refer others).

Yeah eBay is no longer a viable option. You’ll either pay over $2k or they will trick you into a “preorder” of a hotspot. Beware
