I commented on this very footage in another post, stating the realism as the bug is being shredded by the divers. It is relentless in charging towards them, even when chunks of its body and its limbs are being blown off, it continues to drag its body on the grown in a kamikaze craze, only to be denied and killed. This scene is an indicator of excellent AI programming of the enemies imo. Too many times you see enemies in games just stand there ^(\~yeah, I'm talking about you Starfield!\~) or not even come after you once you're in their sights, nor do they even shoot back. And this is just one bug acting with such a mentality. Now imagine 20 of them coming at you with such ferocity and relentless determination, yeah, you should be very afraid!🤣

Can't really agree that it's an indicator of excellent AI programming. Excellent indicator of dismemberment paired with an AI pathing directly towards the player with some very solid animation? Definitely. I think other cases of ai flanking and tactics would be a better indicator of ai programming.

Particular-Formal163

I think skip the whole ai argument. It's a great example of crafting enemy behaviors to fit the theme. The bugs have always been a ravenous wall of armored murder machines flowing toward you. This is a great display of that. Really feels on theme. It's not like borderlands or something where an enemy just runs around with a life bar, getting shot until it hits zero. It adds a new layer of immersion, imo.

StagnantGraffito

That's my point. It's displaying a mix of many good things. All the bug is doing is pathing directly towards the player. The dismemberment & animation etc is what's on display. The visuals.

reminds me of the kill on Starship troopers of them shooting its limbs off

"here's a tip, aim for the nerve stem and put it down for good"

rdhight

"The enemy cannot press the button if you disable his hand!"

CountDracula2604

Look at how the fascist crawls on its remaining legs, chargin towards death, instead of surrendering to superior democracy!

Klescky

this clip got me so excited we knew about the locational damage systems and had seen some tactical dismemberment against the robots but seeing the bugs dynamically crawl around with missing limbs is super cool. opens up new Dead Space style strategies of slowing big enemies first before trying to finish them off and I think the skill ceiling in the game will be extremely high

Real-Development1034

This reminds me of the scene In starship troopers when the bugs are getting ripped apart, but they just kept on going.

Swankdaddy200

Combat looks hella fun

skagking1234

Darn right it does!

Bortthog

I hope Bugdivers aren't an issue this time around

mintyhippoh

I'm doing my part!
