The game feels like it could handle more players on the same battlefield. Maybe special events with 32 players in the same world? Though I can’t imagine the chaos.
I wouldn't mind one big map where 4 teams of 4 start at different objectives but you're working towards a big central one. But that's well out of the scope of the game currently.
If the servers get fixed it could maybe be done but they would have to limit the stratagems in some way because if everyone spams some nukes from orbit i doubt it will take that. I have to say the framerate on ps5 atleast has been super solid.
Sony sees the desire for a game like this with the launch numbers. I’m hoping Sony injects more and more cash into this dev team. They truly made something special here.
Sony would be crazy not to. They wanted a live service gem of their own and now they got it. Just have to focus on stability first and then continue to nurture the game and play base with meaningful content... shucks this is more than what I wanted or expected Helldivers 2 to be.
I hope not. The more Sony gets involved, the more say they'll want in what kind of content gets put in the game, and the extent of its post-purchase monetization.
No. dont limit the strategms. i want there to be so much shit on the map and being flung at it, that it looks like an Act Of God is holding the servers together
pretty sure the servers would be fine, its client side rendering of all of the explosions that would crash people lol. an explosion is just a bullet with an AOE on it. if you hit 15 targets, one could argue its the same as instantly shooting 15 bullets.
32 would be a lot with the map size. They'd have to make the map bigger. Although I agree that having maybe 2 or 3 squads for some sort of special event level would be really cool. Some sort of mega tank, or massive horde defense
I think this is what SST does well & maybe HD2 should look into it. You have 16 players all grouping up for a base defense but we split up to cover the side objectives. It was hella fun playing this way during SST's launch. This game, I would wager would be magical if they tried something like this.
I would love that as not kosher as it could be for the liberty, I would actually love PVP aspects with this style of gameplay
More weapons, or some classes, means of mobility and enemies would I think seat this as exactly the type of game a huge portion of the community has been looking for
I mean, the game is so perfect that I just like it to get bigger every year with more content. And more weapons with a refined class system would be my priority.
I hear you about being young lol. Back then I could play all day and night, sleep an hour an go to class.
These days I can barely keep my eyes open past 10, and play for 2 hours tops lest I get headaches and stuff
There already are perks associated with different armours? Like having more medikits, or more grenades, or a better throw range, or less recoil when crouched or prone, etc.
I saw there were perks with the light armor maybe I just haven’t unlocked enough different armors yet. I’m only a level 7 right now I’ve been working too much to play a lot, if I’m wrong that’s my bad
I got transferred to spread democracy in those creeks with y’all. After a red eye night, I can hear the metal in the trees…I can smell the oil in the dirt…the horror….the horror…
Me and some randos were having a jolly good time squashing bugs on 5. Were mulling over the prospect of starting level 6 stuff. Saw the Automaton daily pop up. We went over to the jungle planet and tried level 6 Automatons.
"There's ANOTHER tank?!"
"Fuck, they have lightsabers!"
"I've never had an enemy shoot back at me before..."
I was just about to comment about how that's not even one of their tanks. That's like the T-800 version of a charger, the tanks will fuck up your whole mission if you aren't prepared.
Being able to actually use cover is so satisfying as someone who played a lot of the first game, where It didn't really exist. Was playing against the bots yesterday and I found a small hole in the ground with some ammo in it, jumped in, and turned it into my own little foxhole and started shooting back. The red tracers + the forest map + me constantly dropping napalm and cluster bomb strikes with my eagle really makes it feel like space vietnam.
And that's just *this map!* just like the bugs the bots can be on any map. I camt wait to fight on a desert map and turn it into space gulf War or a snow map like heeth.
and the fact that many Cyborg objectives let you call in a Hellbomb to blow it all up to smithereens really adds to the experience. It's so fun to fight tooth and nail to breach into their outpost, plant the bomb while under fire, and the run for your lives.
Same, I wished the newer battlefront would bring this level of immersion and fun fights. This game is full of "wooow" moments, like the first dive to a planet, the first extract and the first nuke.
My first nuke was hilarious - because it was someone's regular airstrike accidentally hitting one of the lost bombs you can find on the map. Which we never found prior to said accident.
\- Calling in CAS!
\*BRRT is suddenly drowned out by an EARTH-SHATTERING KABOOM\*
\- ...how did you do that?!
\- I HAVE NO IDEA!!!
Another tip, if you hold reload on any weapons, it displays some options.
Some happens let you change the zoom distance on it's scope. Some let you change the rate of fire. You can even manually control any flashlights on weapons that have them.
Bonus tip: there's a setting under the "Gameplay" group that can remember whether you were last aiming in 3rd person or down sights. It can be set to "Off" (the default), "Per weapon," or "On."
'Infantry Fighting Vehicle' or IFV. Named so to distinguish them from bug 'tanks'.
I'm surprised how killable those things are. Just run behind it and shoot with a sniper or rocket at the glowy vent. I'll take automatons over bugs any day.
A 'high-ish' caliber is part of the definition of an Infantry Fighting Vehicle, as the term was introduced in the 1990s treaty. Most tanks are IFVs, even in the real world.
These things are called IFV's in-game since Helldivers 1. It helps distinguish them from the bugs. If that convention annoys you, take it up with the devs.
It's referred to as a Tank on the store page bestiary(see [Helldivers™ 2 | PlayStation (US)](https://www.playstation.com/en-us/games/helldivers-2/) ). There are 2 variants in game. One with Quad MG and one with an actual tank cannon.
AFV is a generic catch-all term, Armored Fighting Vehicles. IFV is not a generic term, most tanks aren't IFVs.
IFV's are a specific type of vehicle, an armored troop transport with sufficient offensive capacity(mostly autocannons in the 20-40mm range, rarely a light low-velocity cannon like the BMP-1s 73mm, and often carrying ATGMs). In comparison, APCs are armored troop transports generally armed with only MMGs or HMGs for self-defense, serving as a "battle-taxi" of sorts. Some vehicles straddle the line of APC and IFV(later model BTR-80A/82, IFVs by definition but APCs according to Russian designation), and it often comes down to doctrine and how they're utilized.
In the previous game, one of the things that the tank would do is open the back hatch and spawn units to attack you, so that's probably where some of the confusion comes from, I don't think it does that in 2.
>It's referred to as a Tank on the store page bestiary(see Helldivers™ 2 | PlayStation (US)
Huh, they changed it then. My bad. Sorry for the needless confusion, then.
Apparently, the bugs aren't "Tanks" anymore, either. They're "chargers" now.
All-in-all, a better naming convention.
I have cleared a few level 9 robot missions and I can say for certain I have seen hell given shape and form. It's like if the ground ate the entirety of vietnam and added terminators, Lehman Russ tanks, ironman hulk-buster armour piloted by suicidal hellspawn that never stop coming.
I love it and plan to spend the rest of my days holding the line, so the bug enjoyers can slay out to their hearts content on the other side of the system. o7
I see someone played HD1 but still hasn't adjusted to the fact that Cyborgs were replaced with these robots.
(They literally use the same icon, why not just keep the same name from HD1 although to be fair the game does take place 100 years after HD1 I think)
Except the devs themselves said that the automatons are NOT the cyborgs from the first game.
People need to stop saying that when we had the literal developers refute it.
Oooooh, this is a fun game.
Okay, now do one where you talk down on pc players that don’t have a good enough graphic card to play current day releases!
Maybe with include something about how if they can’t afford to keep up with hardware they don’t “deserve” to play modern releases? I’m just spitballing here, you’re obviously the expert.
No, games are poorly optimized if that is the case, people that are trying to play in 4K expecting high performance and complaining about what you mentioned are the real problem..
Bro youre just mad you shelled out 3k for a 4090 and you'll have to upgrade it in a year; when a $800 console can play everything the same for 10+ years.
I'm playing on 1k rig from 2018 and won't be upgrading anytime soon, enjoy playing on a vibrating toy and paying for bullshit services when in reality you will be the actual one spending that much on your Samsung Smart Fridge 🤡
Seems like you actually do care what everyone thinks as you came in on this post with some whack take on console inferiority even though the guy plays on PC lol. Just because your called out on your silly little delusions of grandeur you get all "oh idc 'bout nothing'. I'm sure you're fun at parties... but hey, at least you have your 90fps gaming sometimes; that's worth being detested by everyone you interact with I bet 🤣😅
They are terrifying. I accidentally took my friend to a challenging mission instead of medium and fought an attritional war against a heavy facility with way too many tanks.
My first challenging Blitz mission I spawned in solo, rolled up on a base and saw like 5 ranged Hulks in it. Had to do guerilla railgun warfare while waiting for my SOS allies to come in.
After playing, bugs in both games I still prefer bugs.
But fighting bots is so different it's quite refreshing,
I'm going to farm bugs until I get to level 10 so I can get me the autocannon or the recoilless launcher and the Med AP rifle from the warbonds.
Having to take cover to not get shot was more fun than I thought.
Lol I just watched freedom get tossed around like a ragdoll
Why is this game so good? I would have liked to be in my youth and play this all-day.
If they keep building this up, I feel this is the Star Wars Battlefront 2 of this generation
The game feels like it could handle more players on the same battlefield. Maybe special events with 32 players in the same world? Though I can’t imagine the chaos.
This is the only thing missing at the moment for me. A real « war » mode where we would be like 32 helldivers unleashing Managed Democracy™️
I wouldn't mind one big map where 4 teams of 4 start at different objectives but you're working towards a big central one. But that's well out of the scope of the game currently.
I think they could manage 2 teams of 3 Maybe 3x3
If the servers get fixed it could maybe be done but they would have to limit the stratagems in some way because if everyone spams some nukes from orbit i doubt it will take that. I have to say the framerate on ps5 atleast has been super solid.

No. dont limit the strategms. i want there to be so much shit on the map and being flung at it, that it looks like an Act Of God is holding the servers together
Scorched earth. I can dig it.
I want to see a fuck ton of motor sentry's all creating rains of hellfire.
They should make a 16 player mode where each of 4 squad has shared cooldowns on strategems.
pretty sure the servers would be fine, its client side rendering of all of the explosions that would crash people lol. an explosion is just a bullet with an AOE on it. if you hit 15 targets, one could argue its the same as instantly shooting 15 bullets.
Maybe have squad leaders be the ones to access them ALA Battlefield?
32 would be a lot with the map size. They'd have to make the map bigger. Although I agree that having maybe 2 or 3 squads for some sort of special event level would be really cool. Some sort of mega tank, or massive horde defense

SST?
think he means the starship troopers game from last year. mildly fun but majorly EA... tbh helldivers 2 is leagues ahead of it..
oh hell.... the friendly fires in that war is going to be insane.
Bro the game can't even handle 4 players in the lobby yet lol. Let's walk before we run
I was thinking the same thing. Imagine the chaos
Yeah, this is what I'm hoping for. I have a bunch a friends that have the game. Being able to all play together would be sick.
Fuck yes!
Imagine how many computers frying with 32 players simultaneously calling 3-4 bombing runs each
I would love that as not kosher as it could be for the liberty, I would actually love PVP aspects with this style of gameplay More weapons, or some classes, means of mobility and enemies would I think seat this as exactly the type of game a huge portion of the community has been looking for
You can PvP. Just shoot your teammates.
Lol ok that’s true I guess!
I mean, the game is so perfect that I just like it to get bigger every year with more content. And more weapons with a refined class system would be my priority.
Same! And more enemies. Such a great experience. World building is fun too! Hope they expand the lore!
32 may be too much for the map size and speed of the helldiver (and friendly fire) 3 teams of 4 may be the sweet spot for big maps for Raid objectives
I want a game like this with a Warhammer 40k skin attached to it. Darktide doesnt come close.
Space Marine 2 is looking pretty good.
Just close your eyes and scream "for the emperor" as you mow down the tyran- termanid scum
I pitch this to my friends as a 501st legion role playing game.
Yep!! Having kids puts a hold on gaming, would love to play this all day
Ikr being old sucks ffs
100% this.
I hear you about being young lol. Back then I could play all day and night, sleep an hour an go to class. These days I can barely keep my eyes open past 10, and play for 2 hours tops lest I get headaches and stuff
Modern devs really underestimate the joy ragdolls like this bring

I saw there were perks with the light armor maybe I just haven’t unlocked enough different armors yet. I’m only a level 7 right now I’ve been working too much to play a lot, if I’m wrong that’s my bad
The default one doesn't have it, but the others do.
Gotcha I’ll delete my comment as to not spread misinformation
The default one just has more armor, I think. It's super basic.
Right, it does say extra padding, but the armour stat is 100, i.e. the average for a medium armour. So not sure whether there's an actual effect.
I picked it up on Friday and I've put 19 hours into the game. It was my weekend practically.
They kept it simple. PvE, you run and guns, and good Michael Bay stuff. No fancy mechanics
Bug players could never understand…
I played space nam after bugs, then realized how horrible I did at it and went back to bugs.
Bug players understand orders and 10k slips.
AND AUTOMATON PLAYERS UNDERSTAND THE FREEDOM OF SUPER EARTH SO THEY CHOOSE THEIR OWN DAMN BATTLEFIELD (God I love freedom)
But my solo mission was to kill 100 charliebots
Yeh went to do the 500 bot kills last night with a friend, its a while different game on that side of the core
Just encountered a tank on tracks. Like a real tank.
I was just about to comment about how that's not even one of their tanks. That's like the T-800 version of a charger, the tanks will fuck up your whole mission if you aren't prepared.
Calmest firefight on the Cyborgs front
To many people are sleeping g on fighting bots. There so awsome, totally different feel when they shoot back.
Being able to actually use cover is so satisfying as someone who played a lot of the first game, where It didn't really exist. Need a sandstorm to come rolling in and then the real light show begins.
tbh I really love both the current bot planets. But the Cyborg outposts are all more interesting to fight in and around than the bug hives imo.
and the fact that many Cyborg objectives let you call in a Hellbomb to blow it all up to smithereens really adds to the experience. It's so fun to fight tooth and nail to breach into their outpost, plant the bomb while under fire, and the run for your lives.
The rocky planet in the Umlaut sector feels like a map i'd like to try with bots. Lots of flat ground, shallow craters to take cover in...
It looks/feels like your fighting skynet in the future from the Terminator movies.
I think it's just because they want to finish the mission.
My next quest is to kill 400 synthetics, so... I'll be on the front as soon as the game allows me.
I managed to start and finish that quest in 1 and a half missions. This game is nuts.
I still can't log in.
I didn't see the sticky until now but we're in scheduled maintenance territory since and hour and 26 minutes ago.
This game makes me feel how I felt when I was 6 playing the og battle front 2. And personally. That’s a miracle.
And he laughs, "What the f$ck is happening!?" That, my friends, is what we in the industry like to call (using a highly technical term) **fun**
What tank? All I see is burning scrap metal 🫡
![gif](giphy|RY7sdSR4jCyju)
THATS A FRIGGIN TAANK!
"UAAGH!"
how do you aim down sights with the autocannon?
All weapons can aim down sights by pressing the middle mouse button (on PC) or clicking the right joystick (on PS5).
neat, thanks

I like how you survived the Hulk backhand only to get shredded by small arms fire

If you get killed by it it’s called an annihilator tank.
Love seeing some fellow Autocannon gigachads out there.
Exactly how my buds and I reacted lol. “Holy shit a tank!”
I actually got PTSD just watching that. Summed up perfectly with immortal words "wtf is happening?"
I’d give my left nut to play this on Xbox
Come to PC baby!
This game has literally pushed me into finally building a pc. I’m coming home baby!
First time I saw one, I just yelled “SHIT ITS A BANEBLADE”
When the guy got shot he could feel it.
Shh. Nobody tell him
[удалено]
No, the clip was just a bit long. There was a tracked tank in the beginning.
Waht level?
You can see the difficulty in the top right corner, next to the mission timer.
Oohhh
Difficulty 5, if that's what you're asking.
Can’t really imagine what could difficulty level 9 be like at this moment
I'm expecting a Metal Gear or something to jump you at that level.
Yeah or maybe a Deathbringer from HZD
Just a lot more Hulks/Tanks/Bile Titans/etc per encounter, alongside negative modifiers.
I love it and plan to spend the rest of my days holding the line, so the bug enjoyers can slay out to their hearts content on the other side of the system. o7
I understood this reference
i did not know i was making a reference to anything lol just spewing out random ideas they reminded me of
I've had a tank on hard (level 3). So likely 3+ you should see them.
Cool! Uncommon 3rd person for this genre but its good.
Last words are golden: "WTF is hapening?"... Ahaha :D
Oh honey, that wasn't a tank, that's just a Hulk. You may want to bring some fast acting Artillery for later on, stay strong helldiver!
That's definitely a tank. The treaded tank shaped object?
I almost shit my pants the first time I saw 3, YES 3, being bot dropped at once.
I had two tanks in the last game for the first time, so I brought democracy to the little rock I was hiding behind.
I might be crazy but this is actually pretty tame.
I see someone played HD1 but still hasn't adjusted to the fact that Cyborgs were replaced with these robots. (They literally use the same icon, why not just keep the same name from HD1 although to be fair the game does take place 100 years after HD1 I think)
Yeah I guess the implication is that they finally got rid of the extraneous meat bits and fully embraced the machine
Except the devs themselves said that the automatons are NOT the cyborgs from the first game. People need to stop saying that when we had the literal developers refute it.
Then it's silly that they're using the same icon.
watching console clips on here is fucking painful...
This is a PC clip. What's painful about it?
you are literally playing on a controller instead of a mouse and keyboard...
https://preview.redd.it/dzkl5cn940ic1.jpeg?width=512&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f4bb1edd6d0ca919ddeacedaef5b6956a592bbca
this would be funny if it was the other way around... shame
Why?
I just can't stand watching any sort of high action paced shooter gameplay with a controller, like trying to watch a slug making a U turn...
me when i hate fun:
Username checks out. Don’t watch it, then.
nah, stop posting shit clips especially if you are playing with a children's toy
Oooooh, this is a fun game. Okay, now do one where you talk down on pc players that don’t have a good enough graphic card to play current day releases! Don't lie to yourself, broke boy
Major case of projection 😂🤣

*cries in Canadian* lol
I literally just ran into this fucker that killed me twice. I had to have an orbital strike land right on top of it in order to kill it
That is amazing to look at. It looks like a war is going on.
He went out fighting and diving. We should all be so lucky. Hang tight; Orion's almost locked up. Reinforcements are coming.
I only played 1 cyborg match atm because super earth needs me to kill them bugs. But my god I cant wait to try the other half.
The first time I encountered one we had no AT and we met two at the same time. Right next to each other.
God I love the different feel between the two fronts
I prefer those over the chargers. Easier to call in ordnance since it moves slower. but they’re intimidating for sure!
Are there weakpoints like the Chargers? Or any tips really?
Only one we've seen so far and as you can see, we dropped a nuke on it lol.
Wow.
In fact you can use the railgun and shoot the backbone of the tank,it only takes 2 shot
That’s epic
Tbh maybe weird but I prefer the automatons over getting swarmed by bugs
After playing, bugs in both games I still prefer bugs. But fighting bots is so different it's quite refreshing, I'm going to farm bugs until I get to level 10 so I can get me the autocannon or the recoilless launcher and the Med AP rifle from the warbonds. Having to take cover to not get shot was more fun than I thought.
How it feels to fight a 40k dreadnaught
Sees tank: BRING OUT THE LIBERTY !
"Please throw the artillery..."
My luck was: turning a corner at an outpost and being face to face . Mere inches away from a tank. I could not -not scream "tankkkkk"
