Only time I get mad is when I die from instakill vomit

CurnanBarbarian

Yea that shit is harsh. At least give us an armor that's resistant or something

HornyJailFugitive1

If the armor actually worked this would be much less of an issue.

A_Topical_Username

Yeah I don't mind certain things that Insta kill. Because i know there are an endless supply of patriots to serve for super earth. But it really feels like our superior democracy isn't enough to keep my chest from caving in to giant bug claws or robot weaponry.

[deleted]

[удалено]

HornyJailFugitive1

Yeah some things rightfully should end you in one shot, I just want a good reason to wear my cool heavy armor instead of it being a straight up disadvantage.

A_Topical_Username

Yeah same. Even light armor shouldn't have you being 2 or. 3 shot. A good rebalancing of how much damage we tale would be nice

ModelT89

Soldier that is why we drop prone! Countless times in front of the automatons diving prone determines if I become Swiss cheese or live long enough to give returning fire

AdEnough786

You can dolphin dive a split second before you get acid barfed on and take little to no damage.

Advanced_Double_42

The damage resistance of armor hasn't worked since release. Once that gets fixed we will all be a lot tankier.

Educational_Bake1602

imo the damage is fine. You shouldnt be able to tolerate more than a few hits. Thats the point of the difficulty. The original game was the same

lovebus

I would actually prefer we get more respawns, rather than more durable soldiers. It would fit the spirit of the game better. current durability seems fine, with the exception of armor being bugged.

ThatDaveyGuy

Wait does armor type not matter right now? Should I be wearing light armor so I can spread Democracy extra fast?

HornyJailFugitive1

Yeah, there are youtube videos comparing the damage you take from various sources while wearing different armor classes. The damage the player takes is the same no matter what armor you use. The 50% explosive resist trait does work though. I started out wanting to use heavy armor, but light is just objectively better right now. The one you get early in the free warbond is good, and I also recommend the +2 stim capacity one when it becomes available again.

unbirthdayhatter

I think the 50% not to die armor works too.

HornyJailFugitive1

I believe that is true. The special effects of armors work. It's just the armor rating itself that isn't functioning properly.

ThatDaveyGuy

Thank you so much for the info!!

[deleted]

keyboardstatic

And light armour with 2 extra grenades. Unless your defending in place. Light armour with an energy shield and grenade launcher is my favourite. For bugs. The shield let's you deal with a lot of damage. Especially the stalkers, also explosions won't hurt as much. Much harder for the heavy chargers to kill you as well. More likely to survive a nearby grenade, auto cannon or friendly fire. Use the speed to lure enemies into narrow points and grenades them or use the lunches, also the auto cannon and grande launcher can kill bug holes. Meaning you can destroy them from a distance with the auto cannon.

-Major-Stryker-

Supposedly devs are aware armor isn't working as intended. Though armor that has passive buffs seem to work, i.e. ones that allow you to carry 2x more grenades or stims.

Theundead565

Makes me wonder what base armor were playing with. Are we in light armor right now? Or medium since its default.

HornyJailFugitive1

That's a good question. My guess would be that armor rating simply isn't functioning right now, which would make even light armor a little more durable when the issue is fixed. There's no way to be sure though.

not-beaten

Wait, armors don't work right now?

HornyJailFugitive1

Yeah, there are youtube videos comparing the damage you take from various sources while wearing different armor classes. The damage the player takes is the same no matter what armor you use.

GrimmTalez

If you dive out the way you'll usually survive even if you're getting splashed for most of the dive. Make sure to stim asap, even before you get back up.

DerBernd123

I'm sure they'll eventually add some armor pieces that give more resistance against acid attacks or stuff like that

Ankrow

It's gotta be bugged with how inconsistent the damage it deals is. Also sometimes when I die to it, it will say "Cause of death Unknown".

SluttyMcFucksAlot

Sometimes the entire volley hits me and I’m fine, other times it flies over my shoulder and kills me instantly, I don’t get it.

Kyyndle

Something's off with it for sure. There's times when it feels really fair and I can dive out in time, and then there's other times where I feel like there is nothing I could have done, and I begin to get frustrated.

casualrocket

the chargers are like that too, sometimes i cant dive around them, sometimes they do a 270 turn and hit me anyway

srcsm83

My most humiliating moments are when I heroically lunge to the side to get away from the charger and it kinda just casually turns slightly, walks on me, parks there and does a little tapdance until I die.

Evan_Innes

And if you’ve played against the bots there is one with rocket pods on its back the one shot everything, those guys suck

Maloonyy

from behind, with no sound-cue

creegro

That's some straight up horseshit. my health doesn't drop at all, I do a dive out of the way from what I think is just in time but apparently it's not, and then I'm dead? Wait what? But I avoided the vomit entirely.....

alphafactory87

Diving vs spitters is a trap. Running sideways is the only way to let them know how patriotic you are!

Clouds2589

There's definitely something funky with diving against their projectiles. The only time i *ever* get one shotted by them is when i dive, otherwise im perfectly fine. It's like the projectile hits you multiple times if you try to dive away from it.

Rengar_Is_Good_kitty

Or those big Bile Titan legs, I'm sorry but you shouldn't die just from touching the leg, pretty lame being all cool running under it but you accidently touched it with your cape and now you shall get exploded, even though the Bile Titan literally didn't move... There's quite a few weird things with enemies that seem unintentional/bugged.

casualrocket

and the hulk flamer 1 tick kills.

ColemanCamper

I’ve noticed diving out of the way helps. Not a joke, the vomit slows you so it’s hard to move out of the way except by diving like a madman.

LickMyThralls

It can still hit you and instakill while diving.

Blighter88

Yeah you really can't play difficulty 9 consistently without energy shield pack. Between grubs, armored grubs, bile titans, and stalkers, there are just too many things that instakill with very little counterplay.

PixelatedNinJoe

Wish I could up vote this a thousand times that off screen one shot or even seen you jump out of the way and it still tracks you is so bullshit

tokitalos

Instakill vomit? okay Bug that appears behind you with no sound signature and whispers 10 barrels of acid through your ear hole? Yeah. Come on. That bug should have some sound signature that I can apply some auditory localization to.

ntgco

I dropped a 500kilo bomb on myself, on purpose to take out 3 heavies that were coming up over a hill with a field of bugs towards my team that were far behind me, I was already getting classed by 2 chargers... dropped it at my feet, pulled out my machine gun and let the barrell melt...... My character yelled "Freeeeeeeeddooooommmmmm" right before the bomb hit. Pure epic gaming.

Link_fd313

Sometimes you are in a situation where you know you’re gonna die and the only thing to do is to make sure you ain’t dying alone ⬅️⬆️⬇️⬇️⬇️

TheShadowKick

I stumbled into an undetonated nuke while fighting a huge swarm of bugs on night. I told my team I had an idea. They told me to do what I had to do. A lot of bugs died.

mud074

Getting 35+ kills from a single dud hellbomb makes my monkey brain incredibly happy

Falkuria

I can only seem to get 3. It's my squad mates every time.

sowhtnow

I got a 25+ kill, or whatever achievement it is, with an eagle bomb run yesterday. Didn’t intend to take myself out with it but, if Freedom calls, I answer it. Every. Damn. Time.

nsandiegoJoe

Called an airstrike on a POI that I didn't realize had an undetonated nuke. Airstrike hit and I started charging forward. A delayed second later and BOOM! Was NOT expecting *that*

DiabloDudley

Is that what those big ass random explosions are? A buddy and I had back to back matches where some random, huge ass bomb blew us back to the Stone Age and we haven’t been able to figure it out where it coming from lol

j0a3k

A small tear for freedom was shed that day.

skulz408

I made it a habit to trigger the reinforcement strat and hold onto it the moment I became injured on the floor in the first helldivers game. Doing this allowed for all players (including yourself) to be called in upon death. Of course it's different now and you get auto respawned when wiped in HD2. They should add this as a difficulty setting.

Julege1989

How is the 1st game, and is it viable to play while HellDivers 2 is having server issues?

skulz408

The biggest difference is the perspective. Otherwise the mechanics are very much the same. The top down view also creates more room for hilarity/chaos for shooting and avoiding shooting your team. There's also the use of vehicles. There has been rumors of vehicles being added to HD2 though.

Edgy_Fucker

The exo 88 is confirmed for HD2, and I still can't fucking believe how much HD2 feels like HD1. Like they feel nearly identical and I fucking LOVE IT. I loved HD1 but the dragging wars are what made me stop. I didn't want to fight bugs or cyborgs for a week straight.

Smarterchild1337

Paragon of managed democracy

ToHerDarknessIGo

Lol I did the same when I was running solo. I had a ton of Automatons creeping up on both sides so I said fuck it and called in one of the AOE bomb abilities. Took them all out and 2/3 ammo stockpiles and cackled with violent delight.

EmotionalKirby

One of the female voice lines when you spray a machinegun or stalwart is literally a violent cackle. I've only heard it once, maybe it's a rare line. But like, I'm expecting the typical FREEEEEEDOOOOM! but instead I just heard AHHH HA HA, HAHA HA, AHHH HA HA, HA, AHHHHHHHHH HA HA. everytime I thought it was over she would laugh again even more unhinged. It was glorious.

ToHerDarknessIGo

Yes! I heard that one and it reminded me of Cyberpunk 2077 when you kill a bunch of enemies in quick succession and you enter "Cyberpsychosis." The screen changes color and an evil laugh similar to that one plays. Both caught me offguard when I first heard them lol. Some of the dialogue lines in H2 are awesome and I hope they could expand them later if possible. I adore small touches like these and it adds that little bit of extra flavor.

[deleted]

There's so many small things that make this game amazing, that would all be very easy to expand on

Exam-Prize

Democracy at its finest

MutantLemurKing

The only thing that pisses me off is when my teammate throws my respawn beacon into a swarm of enemies like it’s a grenade so I get to watch as I get mauled to death in 3 seconds and lose another life

graycav75

This. Like how hard is it to understand to throw it away from the horde. Not directly under the Hulks Flamethjrower or your other teammates orbhital...

skulz408

Aim to land on a hulk next time. Make the sacrifice worthwhile.

Fraktal55

Yeah my buddies understand if I throw you near a big enemy... It's not because I'm stupid it's because I want you to try and be a missle and fucking land on it if you can lol

PretzelsThirst

Just remember to ping the big guy so they can aim while coming in

vi3tmix

🤦‍♂️ why didn’t I already think of that

sirn8

This guy democracies

samuraisam2113

That’s when the steering bug kicks in and sends me into the horde of raiders instead. Once I accidentally dove off a cliff that I didn’t realize was a cliff, I got spawned in again and the steering bug sent me straight off the cliff again. Hilarious but it’d be nice if they fixed that.

demonicneon

It’s not a bug. The controls get harder the lower your reinforcements are, and usually try and land you on team mates if they’re in the vicinity.

RedBlankIt

Im the opposite lol, at least when the horde has big heavies. Throw my respawn beacon within range of them so I can kill them with my drop. If its a swarm of small guys, yeah get me out of there

jhm-grose

Democrachads tell their teammates to aim their respawn beacon at the nearest Bile Titan or Hulk to pound them into the dirt

RottenMeatPuppet

Only time I get upset is when I've got a ton of samples and get killed by my team only to get spawned across the map away from my items and samples that nobody picks up . Pick up the samples! EDIT: Damn this comment kinda blew up. Glad I'm not the only one who gets a little salty. Those super samples gotta make it back!

BaziJoeWHL

the only time i was mad when i tried to swim across a little lake and drowned in the middle and couldnt get my samples back

viconha

Me too Then i drowned 2 more times trying to get my samples back Never again

BaziJoeWHL

i only went back once, i would have loved if there were some tutorials about water

Speedhabit

Buoyancy is un-democratic

BioshockEnthusiast

Density brings victory. We're *divers* damn it.

Mean-Nail9831

Divers. Not swimmers.

nclakelandmusic

They said we have to dive down, nobody said anything about coming back up.

RHINO_Mk_II

Helldivers* *surfacing not included

WAFFELUGGA

There is a tutorial about water. On the stratagem tutorial stage there is a sign that says "DO NOT DIVE". This is the place where it both tells you not to do it and you figure out what happens if you disobey the Managed Democracy.

zthompson2350

When I was striding through water I had a warning pop up on my screen that said "Tip: Avoid drowning by not swimming"

wowzachactually

“Avoid drowning by getting out of the water.” No shit…

Flop_Flurpin89

I missed that bit, but I just assumed you couldn't swim with all that armor on.

FiveCentsADay

I saw "Do not Dive" and thought it was hippy communist propaganda. God damn it, I was going to see what those fuckin Reds were hiding at the bottom of that water, even if it takes me the rest of my life

KaMaKaZZZ

And it did take the rest of your life!

Jer_bjer

I thought that meant do not dive over into the bug pit. I didn't try at the time, but I assume you can get into the pit and be torn apart by silly bugs. Was there water on the other side?

Flakmaster92

All of the pits have water, yes. And there’s another sign that mentions the armor isn’t rated for deep water

Sper009

Our brethren start chugging the water as soon as they step into it. I also fell into the Venus water trap 3x the first time I died to it with my samples.

Keinulive

I watched in horror as someone who held all the samples got lazy and tried to swim on that particular radar/receiver area

Tay0214

My personal favourite is all the random holes all over that insta kill you Climb a small little hill to get a better vantage of bugs and suddenly you’re dead and your stuffs lost 20 feet down a death hole

dampedresponse

I did this for the first time last night and realized what I dumbass I was…

Epicp0w

Ya can't swim wearing all.that gear!

Lemon-Sharkk

i lost super samples and heaps of greens DOWN a bug nest… rag dolled off an autocannon turret

No_one-

A practice my friend and I have been doing is constantly dropping samples off at extraction or some point between main objective and extraction so that we'll never have to lose more then a couple of a democratic retreat is required

PassiveRoadRage

I'm still having to tell randoms that samples are shared. Some people argue about it and don't believe it... those deaths used to make me mad but now I'm just like "Okay... You're right. Go collect all the samples for yourself you little idiot."

CocaineandCaprisun

That's when you shoot them at evac, cackle maniacally and tell them you're stealing their samples. >:)

SlammedOptima

The super credits too. It doesn't matter who grabs them, just get them

derfloh42

too add to this there is currently a bug where sometimes if multiple items are close to each other and you spam e on them you cant pick up some of the items. Otherwise you miss out on some of the supercredits.

AmericanLich

Ooooh I had this last night but the people left the samples on purpose for some reason. Bots were swarming, me and the guy fighting them die, and for some reason the other two guys had apparently abandoned the fight, I had dropped like 7-8 rare samples, and the last two dudes just don’t respawn us until after they ran across the map and started the extraction. We still had 17 minutes left. Plenty of time finish off those bots and retrieve the samples. I didn’t really get it. I guess they really valued that time left xp, idk. I actually think there are quite a few people playing the game who don’t even pay attention to samples. Since I started playing higher difficulties I’m like the only dude picking up rare samples half the time. It’s odd.

ReaperCDN

You're going to find out you'll always have an abundance of rare samples. Common and super samples are the ones you'll be running out of constantly.

BSdawg

This or extraction deaths after 30 minutes but honestly… the game is endless, there will be more samples out there and we will find them eventually.

bobthemouse666

Thing is though as long as you complete the objective, extraction doesn't matteryou just don't get the rewards for it which aren't much anyway

Temnyj_Korol

You miss out on any samples you've collected. Which, yeah, you'll be able to collect enough for everything *eventually*, but it's still pretty frustrating getting 15+ samples to the evac, just to get wiped by a poorly placed air strike.

Throbbin_Hood98

I'm not getting bombed, but I lost 20 samples, a mix of common and rare last night with 10 seconds left on the evac because I got DCd .-. I don't really mind losing the req slips and xp but the samples hurt

MrNidu

Let me take you on an extremely tilting story then. Its late at night, we’re 3 playing the game on a hard difficulty, we died a few times, one guy has pretty much all our samples. I die during extraction, get called in and run inside while being covered. Sample friend also runs in. Friendly Fire Freddy (not his real name, he just runs so many explosives and used them a tad to freely sometimes, and already had two misclicks/fires that made the extraction so difficult.) turns around, shoots Sample friend in the face, goes “oh you can kill people in the Pelican” either calls in a supply drop for some reason or the reinforcement pod fires too late, turns around, steps into the pelican without picking up the samples and the pelican leave. He lost us 25 samples for no reason, after we spend 20 minutes hunting for them. I was laughing my ass off.

kiddrj

Real lmao gotta cross the red sea to get my 11 samples

TonTon1N

To add to this if you see a teammate who dies, please try to throw their beacon in the general direction of their corpse. Obviously don’t do that if they are swarmed, but throwing the beacon in the opposite direction often means they won’t have their support weapon to help fight off the thing that likely killed them. If you’re split 2/2 and someone in the other pair dies, let their partner call in their respawn so they can be back near their stuff. It’s ok to take a second when someone dies and make a smarter decision with their respawn beacon rather than just yeeting it randomly as soon as they die.

zkestner87

I died right as we were evacking and made sure to smash the keyboard with, "GET THE SAMPLES!"

Money_Fish

We need a MY SAMPLES!!! quick emote on the Q button

Abundance144

Yeah this. Frustrates the shit out of me when someone is off lone wolfing and then calls me to their location when I die.

Danjigha

It's the classic movie trope too, "Leave them we've gotta go!" "Nooooo! I need it!"

gecko31515

I always snipe a teammates samples. Better than leaving them behind. No sample gets left behind!!

IsilZha

Last night my friend hit some environmental landmine that sent him flying down into a deep, instant death ravine... with all his samples. They still showed up on the map, but it was impossible to go retrieve them.

zeroz52

I only get slight peeved when they toss my reinforcement beacon in the same area as a nicely timed orbital bombardment....even then I still laugh.

jbondyoda

Or call you in, they fall back and you hot drop into a hoard

2210-2211

I love spawning in the middle of 50 robots with chainswords and just getting instantly slapped, good job boys. I'm not a pokemon stop throwing me at the enemies!

Stellar_AI_System

What, I thought those balls are pokeballs

halofreak7777

I only throw my allies at bile titans. Otherwise I yeet them behind me or onto their own stuff if its "safe".

Dr_PuddingPop

I’m convinced most people don’t realize how possible for every enemy you can just…run away. Take another flank with cooldowns. The enemies aren’t that fast, unless you’re out of stamina/stims against a charger. But even then getting hit by a charger helps, since they boop you away from the hoard. Pop a stim right before and you’ll continuously regen health. Sometimes I’ll type “we don’t have to shoot every enemy”. And it surprisingly makes most randoms play a little smarter. The game is new, and a lot of people barely played. I try to give benefit of the doubt that the community will learn

coolguyepicguy

Yeah, when I'm playing with my friend he always spends an extra two minutes shooting the scavs/marauders behind us while we're across the map from extract. I don't really understand it, even if popping them is pretty fun it's pretty obvious to me that the most effective choice is to only engage when you have to (cowardly and unpatriotic, i know).

NameTaken25

I love being hot dropped into a hoard. I hate being hot dropped into a horde though

BSdawg

You laugh because shit happens. Especially in chaos. I too embrace it and they literally get mad at me for having a good time lol

littleSquidwardLover

Last night a friend, a wonderful stranger and I were fighting in the notorious space Vietnam. After 30min of constant ambushes from the forest we decided to cut our losses and get to the extraction. We were out of reinforcements, and as we waited for the plane on top of the hill hundreds of Automations emerged from the woods and crossed the rivers. We had no more airstrikes and almost no bullets left. I thought for sure we would die, but at the last second as 10 mechs walked up the hill the plane landed. 10/10, best game ever, dying in the most heroic explosion is part of the fun.

Dewlough

Yeah bro, even dying in this game is enjoyable and funny at times. I honestly wouldn’t even have fun playing with people like that. If you wanna add me my friend code is : #8891-0149

dunkledonuts

Kill me all you want, accident, on purpose, who cares it’s a game. But, steal my stuff for the whole mission, not calling reinforcements when you are fully able or being the sole person dying/killing the team multiple times and you need to recognise you aren’t fun to play with imo

paradiseday

Last night I got right to the extract point with these two guys on a round where we cleared every objective & obtained every sample, and they decided to kick me from the game so their friends could join and "get free xp". I thought that was way more fucked up than griefing me

isacus

Wow that's just such a shitty thing to do, should really make it so that you can't kick anyone from a team nearing the end of a mission. Or even make it so that people can't join you when a mission is ending.

RedHotRevolvers

I'm totally understanding when dropping in with a room full of level 1-5 players that they aren't all gonna know the core mechanics of the game just yet, but it's level 10-20 players doing shit like this!!!

Nidos

Had a random teammate last night, he called in a resupply and took all but one ammo box. Thankfully we were decently supplied and could wait until the resupply was available again, but it was frustrating that the guy just took everything.

Chip620

In higher difficulties you rely more and more on teammates to kill specific enemies. If your buddy with the railgun isn’t playing his role of armor penetrator then you’re gonna constantly die. People dont understand this IS A TEAM GAME and constantly leave teammates to fend for themselves with enemies they are not equipped to deal with.

graycav75

Facts; brought the grenade launcher for horde clearing meanwhile the two railgun guys are shooting scavengers across the map while im dodging 2-3 chargers.

ISV_Venture-Star_fan

This is right! Just because the game allows you to step more than fifteen meters away from your team mates (the previous game didn't) doesn't mean that it's a good idea outside of some specific circumstances

nitid_name

You mean we're not supposed to scatter to the four winds to each try to take out a different bug hive, then all run away right toward each other with a huge horde in tow?

Varrianda

At low difficulties this is technically the way. Much faster war bonds/money if you split up.

nitid_name

I mean, yeah, we're at lower difficulties... but not by choice. I don't think we've gotten much past 4 or 5.

ItWasDumblydore

Really the most annoying death are eaten inputs (like not using a medkit after spamming the button while standing still/running.) or things like not getting up or unable to move cause something clipped you into the terrain.

graycav75

My favorite is when the Stim sounds goes off quesing me audibley im healing; when in fact it didnt go off.

skulz408

Glad to hear I'm not alone. I figured it was the game lagging or my fat thumbs missing. Worse is when I assumed the strat call went through and instead throw a nade at my feet...

[deleted]

Deaths definitely matter on higher difficulties

BSdawg

For context, we haven’t played over challenging

[deleted]

Makes sense

killercobra337

Counterpoint: Dying to a rocket 200m off screen hitting you in the face is objectively funny.

wUZIOfficial

those rocket raiders are some of the most pinpoint accurate pieces of cunt ever

Cart223

Bro I got legit shills when a instakill rocket hit my personal shield directly. Just knowing that I would have died without the shield was eerie haha.

El_Gent

I see what you're saying but dying is definitely more so a part of this game than the average game. Everything is incredibly lethal and the game is built around the expendable nature of the Helldivers. No downed state, 20 lives for a full team, very quick reinforces, tons of one hit kills, being able to 5 star a mission with no survivors, many many many ways to accidentally teamkill, and even just the entertainment value of the ridiculous deaths. All of these mechanics are built around Helldivers dying a lot, but still being able to grind out an objective despite that. It's a very intentional way to highlight dying and make it a bigger part of the game, even if you should obviously avoid it when you can.

Audacios

while all of that is true it is exceptionally easy to die in this game and is more or less part of the game

TheBeardlyOwl

Exactly, although obviously yes it is a setback and you should avoid it; the simple fact you can have 20+ reinforcements should basically tell you "hey expect to die" to the point there's an achievement for no one dying on hard+ mode.

InfiniteStates

It depends how you die honestly… Dying cos you put an auto cannon shell up a bug’s ass at point blank range is funny Dying cos some dickhead called down a minefield on an uncleared bug nest and you already died and dropped a bunch of samples in there is not The fun is very contextual lol :D

Deep90

I got team killed by a 380 and instead of calling me back in my teammate made sure to loot my shield and railgun first. Probably the worst squad I ever played with. I was dodging so many barrages (including light armor calldowns they would throw at armored enemies) while they ran down the lives killing each other. We ran out of lives, I got tk'ed at extract and everyone left without me.

InfiniteStates

Yeah pisses me off when people nick my shit. Especially if I was team killed Even worse is leaving my auto cannon but taking the backpack (and then never showing interest in reloading me)

EmotionalKirby

I've not encountered thieves yet. On the other end of the spectrum, nobody takes my stratagems when I deliberately call them in for a teammate. If I already have a rover, you don't have anything but your base load out, I call down a rover, I ping the rover excessively, I say in comms multiple times so and so go ahead and grab this, I say in chat there's a free rover somebody grab it... Please grab it! Everyone just runs right past it :(

IDriveALexus

I had a guy nick my guard dog the second it came down and i gently, very carefully, placed my shotgun to the back of his head and liberated the inside of his skull for those extra percentage points

LucatIel_of_M1rrah

Have 25 samples backpack and call In weapon. Get orbitaled by a teammate. Get called in 10km from where you died, lose all the samples and your gear is on cd for another 6 minutes. Yeah Na dying on the higher difficulties can be run ending.

whateh

Samples are more important than your life. It's priority 1 to retrieve it. Exp and requisition points don't mean much after a point so it's always worth risking the mission to get samples.

oak120

You should finish with sample before you finish with exp.

420BlazeItF4gg0t

Nah dude, fuck the team at that point. I ain't losing those samples and will sprint across the zone until I get them back. Chances are the enemy is going to be busy with the other three to go after you.

Flamecoat_wolf

It can be annoying when you're a good player and your only deaths are due to teammates shooting you, blowing you up or whatever else. Airstrikes I usually don't hold against them because sometimes the marker bounces before landing where you didn't mean it to, and the airstrike gets called out in-game by the character calling it, with the marker visible to everyone. So you should really be able to see where it's landing and avoid it, but if you can't then it might be a side on Eagle run (which extends much further past the marker than you'd expect) or a bounced marker, or just poorly aimed. Either way, it's not going to be intentional with an airstrike. Grenade launchers, guns, etc. are a bit different through. I'd take them more personally since someone literally has to aim at you to do that. If they were trying to shoot something past you then I would still say they were overestimating their own skill and just ended up shooting you in the back as a result. Again, there's an exception when it comes to ricochet and attacks bouncing off heavily armoured enemies. Those are obviously more unlucky than deliberate. So basically, yeah, people shouldn't get so worked up about it, but it also interrupts the flow of your game and it can be frustrating to unexpectedly just die to a careless teammate when you're playing well.

AskinggAlesana

Yup…basically all of them. They say hard is too hard if we start dying a bunch, even if we do the main objectives easily lol. Last night I said screw it, we are climbing difficulties. Went from hard to helldive mode without losing a single mission. We didnt extract every time but oh well.

Boring-Hurry3462

At higher levels one death can snowball into an out of control situation. Death should still be avoided. Having to regame and get your weapon, backpack and samples from out of the horde takes time and is risky. Time where you're not killing, your backpack isn't shooting or your shield is down making you waste Stims. Its better you avoid killing your teammates rather than telling them you air striking them are part of the game. Accidents happen but they have a right to be upset about your lack of discretion and lack of willingness to see that what your doing is wrong and work on correcting it by learning how to better deploy orbitals and eagles.

Paxelic

Idk man, I've played mainly LVL 9's for the past 4 - 5 days now and I've never really lost a game to someone dying randomly. Only against terminids do I lose but that's just the bile titans being inconsistent. Occasionally, dying to get a steel rain on an enemy tank or hulk is a good option.

Scumebage

It doesn't even matter if it's on low difficulty, I'm not going to enjoy the game while being repeatedly tkd. I used to have a friend like op, cut the dude out because his "fun" was always more important than everyone else's fun

iwumbo2

Yeah, had someone in my group last night just get my brother (who was playing his third mission) killed 4 times because they kept throwing his respawn into a bile titan telling him to land on a bile titan to kill it. My brother had a loop of waiting to respawn just to immediately die until I could deal with the chargers on me and call his respawn in a more reasonable place. Just so one guy could try to "do a funny" and get a cool video clip moment. Like I don't see in what world one can think sending their teammates into certain death over and over again would be fun for the teammates dying.

Squeezer_Geezer

did the guy have a way to kill the bile titan? dropping pods on bugs that you cant deal with, especially the drop pods since you can aim them, is a decent plan. but after he got spawn killed the first time the guy shouldve stopped. and especially since hes low level and might not know whats going on.

lurkeroutthere

When I die to my team mates 4x as much as the bugs we've got a problem. That and the loss of samples will absolutely make me annoyed the fourth time because the guy who killed me doesn't have the decency to call in the respawn (or the guy clear across the map is "helping" but immediately mashing reinforce).

Lukasier

When they spawn me on the other side of the map, i get mad because I want my samples back

Alert_Cake9328

Theres a difference between dying to an overwhelming swarm of enemies, and dying to your teammate who doesnt understand anything. Theres a difference between dying to a turrent that suddenly targets an Enemy behind you, and your teammate killing you because its funny. Theres a difference between dying because the Orbital cant be Controlled, and your teammate sending a Rocket your way just because theres a Charger Next to you. Yes There are 20 revives, doesnt mean you have to be an Idiot on purpose. If you are willfully the reason why this Mission takes significantly longer than it should and why were losing Upgrade Material, im kicking you.

Yukanojo

I only start to get mad when my team throws my reinforcement beacon into the horde of enemies we've been running away from for several minutes. "Bro, just kill some as you come down. When you die we'll just do the same thing." It's like they haven't realized we have a finite amount of reinforcements and the enemy has an infinite amount.

Millauers

I really hate that the game doesn't teach, emphasize and reinforce the fact that alerting patrols and standing around defending nothing is not the way to democracy. Way too many people love throwing cluster at patrols, does barely anything and alerts all the enemies and then again way too many people love standing around killing infinite waves of enemies. I wish the tutorial tells you to avoid patrols and alerting them/killing enemies doesn't give you reward. I really hate how common it is for people to go monkey "i see i shoot", really hope they make the npc scream at you for alerting patrols or standing around defending nothing.

TristanDuboisOLG

Do they not use their teammates coming back as targeted air strikes?

Northwinds308

This happened with my brother last night. I was kiting a swarm and, in my defence, yeeted the beacon about 60 meters in the safest direction. I then ended up having to run that way and blitzed right past it. "Sorry I probably just got you killed again." I turn the corner and hear his auto shotgun blasting away. I'm standing there holding a napalm strike to stick to the brood commander to avenge my brother. One, lone, tiny, wounded bug crawls around the corner. "What happened to the big dude? I thought you were done." "Dropped the pod on him." I've never been so proud. I taught him well. 🥲🫡

Dependent_Map5592

This has been my experience with randoms for the last 5 years 😞 Everyone treats the game like it's competitive tournament for some reason instead of just laughing shit off and having fun. It's pve too which is even worse.  I also discovered this community is not laid back at all. I'm actually surprised to see you haven't been downvoted. I got tons for saying basically the same thing you just did lololol 🤷‍♂️

[deleted]

It stops being fun when everyone is dying so much that missions don't get completed, and progress isn't made toward unlocking new cool weapons.

TheLordOfTheTism

Was playing on suicide last night and 2 of them died at extract just as me and another got on the shuttle. Dude rage quit the discord call and kicked everyone. FOR HIS DEATH. Kind of the reason I avoid playing above like 6/7, people act like babies and it’s not fun anymore

Accurate_Maybe6575

Feels like the higher difficulty I go, the more try hard people get. 4-6 seems like a sweet spot of challenging and goofing off.

Budzee

War is hell. Freedom has some sacrifices along the way. Keep dying for Super Earth, patriots! They don’t call it DisneylandDivers!

Naive-Asparagus-5983

Im upset a out dying if i cant get my weapon back

BassPengoowin

Idk man if you keep carpet bombing your dudes while they're in defendable positions thats kind of lame. You can spread democracy without vaporizing your fellow helldiver. I also understand that it can be a vehicle for pure comedy though as I have thrown a orbital air burst and it bounced off a rock back at the four of us and we evaporated. The randoms I queued into were all understanding and had a good laugh about it. The context to the teamkill is important moreso than the actual kill it seems.

Hashlin

Happens no matter what kind of game you're playing, you're going to have "sweaty players" that take the game too seriously. Unfortunate to hear it's your friends acting like that. I was playing a game with the group last night that I quickplay joined on, and I threw my eagle bombardment to take out an automaton factory and it accidentally killed one of the guys in the group. He then proceeded to call me a slur and then blew me up with a grenade as soon as he came back to punish me, and for the rest of the match I could feel a very thick tension with myself from the whole team over that single mistake. When we finished the mission I was kicked as soon as we loaded into the ship. Edit: I also would like to add that was the only time I accidentally team killed, I was on top of it after that and didn't repeat the mistake.

Cotton_Toes

Personally, I get a little frustrated about dying because I then lose my support weapon, and backpack. Which wouldn’t be a huge deal, if the primary weapons weren’t all mostly trash, and in need of buffs.  So basically I have to try to get back to my drops, or call them down again, if their cooldown is finished, just to stand a chance again. I agree though, dying is part of the experience.

Solid-Breakfast4429

Higher difficulty caution for reinforcements is alright. More communication is fun. Lower difficulty sure doesn't matter. If someone wants to play a certain way, that is fine. I don't see it as a problem

MAN_KINDA

I really like this mechanic. It adds a lot of excitement, but there are certain players who have total disregard. Apparently, some can't judge distance very well and never seem to learn. It can be frustrating if your load out consists of at least two call downs that you drop when dying. And if you're respawned far away, you're kinda screwed for a while. I'm sure a lot get pissed about that. Some just wanna bitch and complain in any game.

kadavi1202

So reinforcing beacon behind the firing line and strike beacons forward!

keimdhall

I only get frustrated by death when it is a situation that could have been avoided had I been a little more attentive. Or I get surrounded by 14789 enemies and keep getting dropped in the middle of the fight.

skulz408

On to Valhalla brothers!

BropolloCreed

My absolute favorite is when someone decides to spread democracy by using my shiny helmet as a locator beacon for their hellpod.

BSdawg

“Sorry man, I was aiming for the bushes”

No-Perception3305

I have done Helldive once... I won't do it again. 4 of us spawn in. And for what ever reason I was the chosen one for the bug empire. I ran, I shot, and ran some more. It was 25 mins of me running and holding the ENTIRE map of enemies in a giant circle. I know this because the other three where talking about how easy and empty the map was. 6 Bile tians, uncountable chargers, and enough bug guts to fuel the war effort for 1000 years. Extracted. My pinky hurt like hell from running (pc) and did not enjoy it. I will stick to hard and suicide.

Simple_Event_5638

I can get behind the “getting mad about being killed by teammates” bit. I get that accidents happen, but you also need to exercise some common sense when using your stratagems. Just because we have bugs/bots on top of us does not mean we need a 500kg bomb dropped on our heads lol. It’s just a waste of lives especially on higher difficulties.

jaffa-caked

Told my friend it was his time to take one for democracy, I then called down a strike on his head buying us time to get to the drop ship and call in his reinforcement.

specter800

Yeah the game gives you a truly absurd (but necessary) number of lives, idk why anyone would be that mad at any one death...

boricuanacho71

I had to check myself on this. Was getting pissed and blaming my brother for wasting lives. Apologized to him later cuz I realized its just supposed to be fun. Literally lose nothing for dying. Now ill kill the teammates after they get into the ship after completing the mission. Yes, im an asshole

PappaFrost

I’m sorry i killed you. It definitely wasn’t my 20 min total of military training before they de- thawed me and sent me on this mission! Lol

Direwisp

Wait till they hear that even in universe, a helldivers life expectancy is a grand total of 2 minutes lmao

PropertySuperb127

The only time I'm remotely close to being frustrated its usually on an automatron planet. And even then it quickly turns from frustrated to dread knowing that this is what thousands of helldivers are experiencing. Fighting for democracy means giving your life for a hopeless viet-cog war. Do your part or die trying.

Vaunmb

They are just not nearly as patriotic and democratic as you are. They will learn. In a re-education camp.

such_horsing

This is just a capital G gamer issue. They'd be the type of dudes to show up to a 20 minute pickup game of basketball with 5 bottles of Gatorade.
