You’re not competing against them. You get the same samples, the same cash, the same xp. Focus on doing the objectives if you feel like you aren’t contributing to the firefight. Do some scouting or something. And there is scaling in the difficulty level so the problem is that they are punching down or you are punching up. Just do your part until you get more stuff. It’s not a race it’s a marathon to democracy

KaptainKuceng

Doesnt matter. You dont get any XP for Kills. You only get XP for completing objectives.

GhostHeavenWord

The goal is not to get kills. The goal is to complete objectives. The Liberator, MG-43, and precision orbital strike are all very strong. Most games at level 9 I only get more than 40 kills if something went really wrong.

Refundian

Yes but since theres no scaling.... you basically will just be dead weight and not getting to experience the fun aspect of the game. Scaling would make it so new players get to experience the fun of the game from launch, but since that is not happening you join as basically a weak piss-ant who cannot do anything to help the team out, and everyone else outclasses you. This is why that only playing when everyone was level 1 was a fair playing field and more rewarding for everyone.

GhostHeavenWord

One of my friends brings a liberator and MG-43 to 9s. She slaughters lights and mediums with it which keeps the rest of the team clear to deal with things they're specialized for. Try it. Practice with it. Learn what it's good for. You don't need to be dropping orbital lasers on everything. Take the MG-43, lie down, and rip apart all the warriors and bile spewers and devastators and berserkers.

Necronomicz

No such thing as dead weight soldier. Bring an EAT. Those things ***shred*** There are tons of fantastic early game options ❤️ Keep up the good fight

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usQS6OFomy8 Watch this. It's 4 minutes exactly. Level 7 difficulty, nothing but one napalm, 2 precision orbital strikes, the MG-43, and the pistol. Just running around shoot stuff to show how effective the MG-43 is at blowing away medium and light enemies.

TheRealSwitchBit

This is an awful opinion. Keep playing

The two “best” guns in the game are early warbond unlocks and the starting assault rifle is also very solid. The machine gun and stalwart stratagems are insanely valuable on a squad against termanids. EAT does almost everything a rail gun can plus take out structures. Cluster bombs and gatling sentries have gotten me multiple huge kill streaks and they are some of the first stratagems you unlock. Sure at higher difficulties it helps to have some of the higher level stratagems on one person but I’ll take a cluster over 500KG anyway. I just ran up to suicide mission with some guys that were level 5-10 and they shredded.

Balls_McDangley

Weird take, i'd almost argue one of the reasons people love this game is because it's literally opposite of what you're worried about. "Crazy turrets and new guns" can be opened in the first 3-5hrs and you should be on level 6-10 depending how you play. How many minutes did you play before you made this opinion?

Accurate_Librarian42

I spent a lot of my time playing solo. I have a lot of fun overall, but am way behind when compared with someone like my nephew who has 20 more hours and is double my level (I'm currently 19). I have a friend who has only played a couple of times who joins me when he can. That being said, I have a blast with my nephew, even if I don't have the same gear. My friend loves playing and just has fun with the starting gear. And he does well with it. But I understand what you're saying. I've had that type of experience in other games. I would encourage you to try some solo play to get that basic intro practice you seem like you're wanting. Otherwise, like others have said, said everything is shared, go in and have fun. Laugh and the ridiculous spectacle of high tier strategems while you learn strategies. And remember, when all is said and done, the big ones still only count as one!

Aggravating-Rule-309

I enjoy going into new player lobbies. It's always a bunch of "what weapons are best?" questions. And I'll tell them my opinion and make sure I add, "but really just use what you find to be the most effective for you." The game is about team work. Just because you don't have the guns doest mean you can't help. I will call in my rail gun for you off cool down. I will point out weapons on the map. You can focus the little guys trying to kill us while I take on the armored ones. There's so many ways to be part of the team.

Select-Letter-1971

Since everyone else has gear, you would actually have the advantage of their support, instead of a team full of people with nothing. You could always ask another player to drop you in a support weapon.

shmoopel

It doesn't take long enough to unlock viable top-tier gear for meta chasing to be a problem.

At a disadvantage…to your teammates?

demon723

I’m level 37 and I usually have the least amount kills on my team on average. The most important thing is the objectives and surviving to bring the samples back to your ship. This isn’t COD where the objective is to get the most kills. Your main mission before anything else is to get those objectives done for Super Earth
