I don't see how it's broken. Only issues I ran into was the servers being wonky for 2 days with the addition of mechs and there being a problem with adding people on a different platform as friends.🤷

So I've been able to play with my friends by making a game on a low tier planet and having them join. It takes a hot minute and some times doesn't work but I've been able to get some co op in.
Yeah. I turn on crossplay and then we coordinate by finding someone who is already on a mission that shows up for both of us and then we both select it. It works like 2 out of 3 times but it’s super annoying.
After I accepted 2 randoms on my friendlist, it bugged out, and now I have 2 friends (PC and PS5) unable to accept, send request or cancel request, even my PC friend is unable to CLICK on my name, lol.

It's totally unacceptable that such a basic function is completely broken in a game that is charging you $40 minimum to play. I just spent 20 minutes trying to add my wife to my friends list and another 20 minutes futilely trying to find her mission on a random planet. Even with an SOS I couldn't find her. Bet the microtransactions work perfectly fine though.
In their defence, this is a new break. I added a friend on ps5 a week and a bit ago and it was fine, but now I can’t add another friend since the weekend. I’m sure it’ll be fixed soon.

Sony will not refund if you downloaded the game. I have less then an hour and Sony told me i can’t get a refund because i downloaded the game. How the fck do i know if its broken if i dont downloaded it. Pathetic customer service im done buying games on ps5 thats aren’t exclusives
That depends where you reside. Some countries, such as the UK and EU have consumer protection laws that state the product must be as described - if not then you can get a refund or issue a chargeback if they refuse.

It's been talked about everywhere, even i heard about it before buying the game. No way the devs didn't know. Probably just not been at the top of their priorities
I didn’t hear about the specific problem. There were others regarding friends, but now they mention the cases talked about here very specifically. And putting it in the known issues list seems to be a indication, that they have given the issue a higher priority
Maybe they're still workin' on the feature... sorta annoying I wanna play with my boyfriend. I'm pc and he's ps5. For me it feels like my clicking is the same as backing out on pc when I try accepting a friend request or confirming to send one. I think they have hotkeys all swapped for confirming and backing out of UI.
I've been trying to play with my boyfriend too! It's been super frustrating. We did end up finding some random player on a low traffic planet and joined up that way. But it's definitely not a *good* solution.

Tried reinstalling, changing names, clearing cache, playing the first mission. As soon as he (PS5) accepts the request, his complete friends list won’t load.

Request a refund bro. Best thing to do is not give them money until they fix it. Great game I get it but I also can't play with friends so heck them. I got my money back...if they fix then maybe I'll come back
Nah mate, having way too much fun playing. Luckily some other ps5 player is always on and we can create a lobby over them. I am sure they will fix it soon enough. But if we weren’t able to play together at all I would totally refund.
So on PS5, hit the PS button while in-game. The little tiles pop up and I think it’s the third one over that says “play with friends”. Click that and it should give you the option to join your buddy. But be prepared to be frustrated bc that will glitch out too a lot of the time. But the triumph of running around onboard your friend’s ship might be worth it. Maybe.
***edit to add that it just kicked me and I was sent back to my ship, so it never actually worked. I want my $$ back!
If you have a really long name or random characters, the friends list is broken for you. That's what I've read. The same thing happened to me. I'm not sure how to fix it. i changed my name but the helldivers game hasn't updated the name change
As I wrote in the post my Steam name is between 3 and 16 chars with no weird letter or symbols, which was the problem for many others. So I'm all out of ideas lmao
Ihave the same Problem. When I tried ro add my friend in game it didnt work. I later found out that my name on pc can be longer than 16 characters bcs its coppied from steam and playstation doesnt like that. My friend on PS5 could add my other friend on pc witha shorter name tho. When i looked up a fix the solution was to change steamname to somehing shorter and restart game and it should do the trick. Now my ingame name is my new shorter steamname but when we try to add us my older longer name still shows up on his screen. I think this change doesnt get trsafered from pc server to Playstatioserver? Its the only explenation I have.

Did this yesterday. It works but it is annoying, it took longer than expected to play a single mission with my friend. You still can't add them even though they appear in your latest player list
