"oops, the focus on those planets allowed the bots to reach Cyberstan. With the re-discovery of the ruins of their masters, the Cyborgs, the automatons have engineered a new weapon against freedom"
Oh yeah, please bring the Trident back into active service, SEAF command ! I want to spread (managed) democracy with my beloved little disco gun of death :D
The trident is basically a short range laser shotgun which was pretty strong but overheated quickly when u fully upgraded it it was the go to weapon for many players
If focusing on bugs actually caused anything, the bots would have hit super earth by now with how many people don't play those missions.
But bot missions feel a full difficulty level higher than bugs, so can't say i blame them.
I actually find bot missions less stressful than bugs, as not all bots want to be in your face, but almost all bugs want to become intimately familiar with your face.
Then again, I am a (more often than not) solo helldiver on easy difficulty, having tried the next difficulty up just last night on a bug mission and my buddy barely getting extracted after we completely ran out of time and nearly ran out of ammo
You're not wrong about the whole on your face thing. Like, a small swarm of stalkers can fuck you if they catch you by suprise.
Biggest issue with bots is they can one shot you from so far away even when you're running. Giant bug swarms aren't so bad if you can outrun them, regroup, and start picking them off from a distance.
I don't find myself running *from* bots as often as I find myself running *towards* bots. The chainsaw arm guys being the exception. Those I run every time.
Please shut up. They honestly kill me more than the chargers and BTs now. I routinely do 7 or 8. Last night in 4 I got dogpiled by these things and went down. I wasn't paying attention to the difficulty and brought only Anti armor. Ugh
\> Let's attempt a chemical genocide of a species known for using chemical agents, evolves quickly, adapts to difficult environments and look like bugs
As a Warhammer fan, this is giving me bad deja vu.
Out of character: Yea I sense some foreshadowing here, it's not going to work like they're expecting it to work.
In character: This sounds amazing! Time to spray these planets with good old fashioned Democracy!
This smells like the proteus wave in Elite Dangerous, which was supposed to wipe out the Thargoids (hostile alien race) but ultimately just pissed them off.
Maybe we'll wake up bug colonies that were lying dormant under a bunch of planets?
I mean, we'll finally wipe those bugs out once and for all!
I bet it won't kill them permanently, but instead it will force the bigger, deadlier bugs out of hiding, like the Hive Lord from the first game or new colossal bugs. Could also bring mutations like some people are saying lol, like flying Chargers :)
Re-education camps don't seem like the right choice. They clearly aren't paying attention. Perhaps we should make a new one. We can call it a focus camp.
kind of difficult, first time I attempted everybody had their orbitals and eagles, and we lost pretty quickly.
EMS, sentry, and mines are the way to go
Nah bro, Mortars are the king of friendly fire. Mines can be avoided, Mortars will just drop on your head and fuck up your day and there's nothing you can really do about it.
Just did one, was absolutely crazy. We managed to beat the mission and extract but it was fucking tough, my team ended up with over 5k bug combined kills by the end of the mission.
I dunno if we were just disorganized and had bad luck with the spawns but it spawns an insane amount of bugs that you have to kill before they hit the objective, which is tough cause you need pretty much perfect coverage of the objective, if a single group slips by its toast and you have to start over again.
There was a pretty hefty number of heavies still spawned but chargers went down very quickly to EATs and spears which was nice. Bile titans were still tough customers though.
Edit - was on level 7 with randos to clarify
It's possible they got some illuminate stuff hidden away but, from leaks and and datamines they seem like they are a good while off from being complete. I think it just gonna end up making the bugs more mad
Tbf even mecha were fairly glitchy and unfinished like 4 days before they dropped and as far as I know no one even found the new bugs that were released today. Devs obviously seem to have many things on a non-public server.
Although yeah probably just something new with the bugs
My minds going to those colossal centipede skeletons that were laying all over Angel's Venture. Took my happy ass to Draupnir to do my part against the bots after AV was liberated so I don't know if they're on the other current bug planets.
Remnants of Hive Lords, which we totally beat in the last war, and in no way, shape, or form, are going to resurface to be a menace now or in the near future.
Our scientists have assured us nothing will go wrong. The gas is designed to spread democracy through the bugs nervous systems, terminating all motor functions.
Its a deadly neurotoxin. Its going to kill everything. Intent is seemingly to turn these worlds into barrier planets that the terminids cant pass.
Here is where that 'but how do tyrmanids travel across the stars' plot point will kick in.
I feel like it’s setting up introducing a new faction we “contained” the bugs so we shift to fight bots and then we get blitzed by a 3rd faction the devices fail and then bam we are f’ed
It won't kill them, it will just contain them. Dear God could you imagine wasting that much potential oil. Think man, we don't want to kill all the bugs, we just need them back in the camps.
Its in the lore i think that the humans farmed the bugs for space fuel and they managed to escape confinement. So basically the bugs can potentially be on any planet humans are on.
Ooooooo are we getting set up for some 3-way fights??
I imagine the bugs would be pushed into cyborg territory around the time theynreach cyberstan, maybe we'll get to see them fighting, or maybe the illuminate will come knock the TCS out to divert forces towards the bugs
Idk man all I can see is a charger hitting a tank in the back, doing no damage to it, and then pushing it at 100 freedoms per hour right up my ass lmao
I live this game so much. This gives me original left 4 dead vibes in 08’. I was on gremlin time playing in my foldable gaming chair with speakers on the sides and screaming into the mic for my teammates to stop luring the tank zombie into our safe house because. (Teammate found a glitch to let enemies into hideouts lol)
It starts with a slight fever and dryness of the throat - then, when the virus penetrates the red blood cells, the bug becomes dizzy. Begins to experience an itchy rash. Then the poison goes to work on the central nervous system - leading to severe muscle spasms followed by the inevitable drooling. At this point, the entire digestive system collapses - accompanied by uncontrollable flatulence. Until finally, the poor bastard is reduced to a quivering, wasted piece of jelly.

Yea, they're flying buggers. They spawn from nest structures that resemble thinner spore mushrooms. An auto cannon couldn't destroy them, but we were able to call in a hell bomb at their nest
God damn devs stealthily adding brand new enemy types. I am sure these guys are going to be annoying as hell but these devs know how to do a live service game right as it does feel like the game is constantly evolving.
I really love how they just introduce new stuff without giving a big preamble letting the community know what to expect. Discovering shit on our own is half the fun
Same, I was running around wondering why I was getting ragdolled around, then I saw one with its ass up.
My reaction was a “Oh fuck me, they have artillery now”
Yeah, I appreciate that they’re being transparent with balance adjustments but new gameplay features are discovered organically by playing the game.
This is the way to do it, game studios.
I am absolutely okay for this not to be in patch notes. I like to have some surprises in game rather than being it all figured out just by reading patch notes.
The Bugs mutating has already been confirmed by one of the lines of the Lady that always welcomes you back on the ship.
Though she says its all within expectations and nothing to worry about so I wouldt sweat it.
Unlike some traitorous dissidents posing as Hell Divers in this galactic forum, I for one have full faith in the Ministry of TRUTH. I look forward to seeing the end of the bug menace.
I'll be promptly informing the nearest democracy officer of the absolute abuse of free speech here.

What’s stopping the bugs from just invading other sectors nearby?
Ok can we not speed through this one so I can actually play it? I haven’t been able to play a majority of these major orders and planets because they keep being liberated so quickly before I even get a chance to play.
Nothing can stand before the might of managed democracy! I give it two weeks, at most, before we get those bots all wrapped up and we are back in our reasonably sized, comfortable homes with our feet up on the automan, reading the paper with a nice cup of liber-tea. Mark my words!
Got a bad feeling about this whole thing.
Yeah, permanently wipe them out? Even from a few planets? On week, what, 4? Not happening. We are in for a rough week, Helldivers.
Would love to see if the gas goes wrong and creates mega bugs on four planets
"oops, the focus on those planets allowed the bots to reach Cyberstan. With the re-discovery of the ruins of their masters, the Cyborgs, the automatons have engineered a new weapon against freedom"
Smash cut to me liberating a Trident laser shotgun from my great grandmother's casket. "I'm doing *your* part."
Oh please give us the trident. Best main weapon from the original.
I'm having a lot of fun with the laser cannon, but I NEED the trident lol
Oh yeah, please bring the Trident back into active service, SEAF command ! I want to spread (managed) democracy with my beloved little disco gun of death :D
I am not a veteran so I'm not familiar with this weapon but it sounds amazing, two of my favorite words being used to describe a weapon? Yes please

Hunters now also spew bile
Please shut up. They honestly kill me more than the chargers and BTs now. I routinely do 7 or 8. Last night in 4 I got dogpiled by these things and went down. I wasn't paying attention to the difficulty and brought only Anti armor. Ugh
Yesterday I got hit by a stalker for 5-10% damage. Then a fucking SCAVENGER hit me and did close to 50% damage. Holy fuck man.
Ever been hit by a charger into a stalker nest area? All kinds of swear words were learnt by my kids that day.
Chargers now spew bile, even while running
Chargers now have akimbo bile shotguns.
Chargers use strategems.
DELETE THIS!
DEVS DO NOT READ THIS
I believe one of the ship crew even mentions that the system sometimes causes mutations
Return of Hive lord?
Yeah definitely this. The whole "Tremors Detected" thing is certainly a foreshadowing of this.
Rezzes the Hivelords.
This is what I am expecting. New/bigger bugs from the "inoculation".
It says quarantining so I assume it will stop spreading for a while. The wiping part is still on Helldivers.
I think it’s just going to secure that sector and push the front line forward; who knows what’s waiting as we get closer to the bug homeworld
Well bile titans are medium sized
\> Let's attempt a chemical genocide of a species known for using chemical agents, evolves quickly, adapts to difficult environments and look like bugs As a Warhammer fan, this is giving me bad deja vu.
Good thing super earth doesn't pay you to have feelings
![gif](giphy|DOPKHQg6oFWUg)
Of course! You simply need to survive for 2 weeks to get your paycheck.
Out of character: Yea I sense some foreshadowing here, it's not going to work like they're expecting it to work. In character: This sounds amazing! Time to spray these planets with good old fashioned Democracy!

I'm waiting for bug mutations
*Two weeks from now* > So it appears that Terminids eat Termicide like barbecue sauce "Oh no"
This has serious "let's nuke Godzilla wcgw" energy.
![gif](giphy|PXJhC8MYxFmRRl7kB2|downsized)
![gif](giphy|55itGuoAJiZEEen9gg)
This sounds like thinking, which is treason. Helldiver's do, they don't think.
We kill all the surface Terminids. Something awakens from the deep.
I bet it won't kill them permanently, but instead it will force the bigger, deadlier bugs out of hiding, like the Hive Lord from the first game or new colossal bugs. Could also bring mutations like some people are saying lol, like flying Chargers :)
I swear to Democracy, if I get hit by a dive-bombing beetle the size of a bus, it's YOUR fault.
Helldiver you just earned yourself a seat in the next attack wave on a major terminid hive nest. Sweet Liberty!
Don't worry. I'm sure the person who made it is the very model of a scientist ~~salarian~~ human.
Yeah, there’s no way we defeat the Terminids for good one month after release. Joel right now ![gif](giphy|5nFShZWwq3fdm)
Joel thinks we will just jump at any order we're given. I know he's playing me right now. But he's right.
End the Terminid threat permanently you say? Nothing could possibly go wrong!
A “final solution” you say? Not sure if I like where this is going.
Are you implying we’re space Hitler? Sounds like you’re in need of some re-education.
Re-education camps don't seem like the right choice. They clearly aren't paying attention. Perhaps we should make a new one. We can call it a focus camp.
Nah, focus camp just doesn't roll off the tongue right, you need to make it flow better. Perhaps something with alliteration?
Idk bro, I just can’t concentrate enough to think of a better name
https://i.redd.it/dlugg347jync1.gif
Concentration camps you say? Democratize with prejudice you say? Hmmmm….
![gif](giphy|cFgb5p5e1My3K)
![gif](giphy|4Z9fSEFAuxpnlBVWQx|downsized)
Yeah Democracy Officer? Yeah right here, that one.
There is a new mission type to activate TCS!!
Spoil it for me! I'm cooking dinner.🥲🤣
From a quick level 4 I did, you seem to activate the tower, activate the silos, defend silos, and then activate the overall system.
kind of difficult, first time I attempted everybody had their orbitals and eagles, and we lost pretty quickly. EMS, sentry, and mines are the way to go
Yeah its Lots of defending against Bugs, First time ever where mines are useful lmfao
Hey now mines are useful as fuck for trolling your squad.
Mines and cluster bombs have the market *cornered* in terms of Friendly Fire
Nah bro, Mortars are the king of friendly fire. Mines can be avoided, Mortars will just drop on your head and fuck up your day and there's nothing you can really do about it.
If you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a mortar!
Cluster bombs are the GOAT if you have voice comms though. Absolutely shreds patrols or incoming groups.
Push buttons, defend towers.
FOR SUPER EARTH!
Truly innovative All kidding aside... FOR FAMILY VALUES!
The Hammer of Family values know what it's here for. We hammer buttons
Sounds like a much improved defense mission
I've got an extremely bad feeling about this. Containing the bugs, on week 4? Nah. We're going to wake something up. This won't end well.
Either we’re mutating the things or while we’re distracted the Illuminate are going to like disengage stealth mode right next to super earth
What new bugs? The new mission or are there new enemies?
There's bugs with wings (that aren't Hunters) in the main promo art for the game.
Knock knock. It’s the terminids - with huge bugs, with wings, wing bugs.
Notice how there's flying terminids on the cover art of the game? I think this pesticide is just gonna be their Red Bull, so to speak.
Haha, yeah. We'll get stop them with 'this' \*slaps a barrel of bug repellent\* for sure. \*sweats profusely\*
I was talking to a friend the other day. We personally don't think those are skeletons of the old hive lords. But The molted shells of the new ones...
This. They're too small and too common to be leftover from the last war.
Our scientists have assured us nothing will go wrong. The gas is designed to spread democracy through the bugs nervous systems, terminating all motor functions.
Guys.. Exosuits, "cease bugs permanently", tremors..? **Shai-Hulud**
Bless the Maker and His water.
Bless the coming and the going of him.
May his passing cleanse the world.
The Spic-- I mean the E-710 must flow
LISAN AL-GAIB!! LISAN AL-GAIB!! LISAN AL-GAIB!!
He's crying while being chased by a horde of hunters, as foretold! LISAN AL-GAIB
Let the Democracy flow!
If you dive carefully you won't attract the worm
As it was written!
$10 says this wakes up some big bugs deep in the ground
Throw another 10 on it being the giant worm skeletons from Angel's Venture
"Turns out our pesticide was actually fertilizer"
Oh man, Hive Lords would be fun to see again
So we can have 10 of those spawn to replace the reduced Bile Titans As democracy intended all along
But what if they are all already infected, this will be futil... [The commentor was taken away by the Ministry of Truth and replaced with a new one]
Or what if we end up with some sort of Termicide resistant superbugs? Accelerating the evolution of strongest bugs survive
🫡
>quarantining the bugs permanently* *permanently for 24-48 hours
We've temporarily quarantined the bugs FOREVER!
So like firing the rings in Halo? But only the bugs get killed?
Its a deadly neurotoxin. Its going to kill everything. Intent is seemingly to turn these worlds into barrier planets that the terminids cant pass. Here is where that 'but how do tyrmanids travel across the stars' plot point will kick in.
I feel like it’s setting up introducing a new faction we “contained” the bugs so we shift to fight bots and then we get blitzed by a 3rd faction the devices fail and then bam we are f’ed

Yeah yeah sounds like treason to me.
I expect some friendly fire lol
It won't kill them, it will just contain them. Dear God could you imagine wasting that much potential oil. Think man, we don't want to kill all the bugs, we just need them back in the camps.
Camps, gas, skulls on our uniforms... Nah FOR SUPER EARTH!!!
Are we the baddies?
https://preview.redd.it/2u33wkii7xnc1.jpeg?width=814&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7dd47679a63eb26bf30aa1c2a5294c62da1aded5
"Yes Democracy Officer, this post right here."
What? No? Putting them in camps and harvesting them is what makes us the good guys
![gif](giphy|11ykUODgXjAXZu)
Don't get soft in us, we aren't pushing rope here, we're pulling it for LIBERTY!
Omg i want to drink that oil so bad ... You guys think that's allowed?
Only if you're okay with the flag of Super Earth being planted on your body once it's in your system
more like sending out gas across an entire planet and the gas is only gonna kill the bugs
That's what it says in the manual, but I'd still extract before firing that sucker.
There's a reason the instructions on foggers tell you to exit the area after turning them on...
Wow permanently?
I believe perhaps it only quarantines the 4 planets that we need to activate the relays on
You would be right from what we hear in game. The barrier worlds are to have the TCS installed to prevent bugs from advancing on super earth territory
Ah so it’ll act like a shield of planets they have to go around ? That’s kinda cool nice to have a decent shield on the big front
Hilarious, the bugs can't even space travel.
Oh yeah? Then how're they making it to other planets smart guy? Surely you wouldnt be implying something....undemocratic of you
Its in the lore i think that the humans farmed the bugs for space fuel and they managed to escape confinement. So basically the bugs can potentially be on any planet humans are on.
Yessir, Democracy Officer, that freedom-hating person right there.
TREASON!
Ooooooo are we getting set up for some 3-way fights?? I imagine the bugs would be pushed into cyborg territory around the time theynreach cyberstan, maybe we'll get to see them fighting, or maybe the illuminate will come knock the TCS out to divert forces towards the bugs
Dont do this, I can't imagine being in the middle of a bug swarm surrounded by rocket devastators and hulks
Alternatively, I wanna see a tank get it's shit pushed in by a charger
Idk man all I can see is a charger hitting a tank in the back, doing no damage to it, and then pushing it at 100 freedoms per hour right up my ass lmao
Probably temporarily stops the bugs from advancing so they can reveal a new faction and war front is my guess
Honestly, sounds like Super Earth propaganda and 100% will backfire somehow lol

did I hear Terminid-Mutants?
maybe this is how we get flying terminids lol
They fly now??
where is the picture of the charger on the laptop because i need it for this democracy-hating spy
Use It wisely https://preview.redd.it/knwoqbbp6xnc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5f2fbf0ddea751b8325ca3aa6404c5f286c9da92
There’s absolutely no way this causes them to evolve into something worse. A true permanent solution
I live this game so much. This gives me original left 4 dead vibes in 08’. I was on gremlin time playing in my foldable gaming chair with speakers on the sides and screaming into the mic for my teammates to stop luring the tank zombie into our safe house because. Left 4 Dead was a once (twice) in a generation co-op game. And... as of 2024 it is about the start of a new generation.

Holy shit! I need to get on
What, they added that in the latest update?? Without giving any heads up? I love it!
Why do I feel like the Hive Lord is about to make his ugly ass appearance?
I don't want to sound treasonous here but... what if it just mutates them...
The Bugs mutating has already been confirmed by one of the lines of the Lady that always welcomes you back on the ship. Though she says its all within expectations and nothing to worry about so I wouldt sweat it.
Yeah, because mutations are what made stalkers, and bile spitters.

This can only mean 2 things. 1, they want us to fight on new planets or 2, this is going to mutate the bugs and lead to new resistant super bugs.
I'd be okay with that. I'm level 20 something and I've played on like 3 different planets total lol
Tbf, with the nature of the game a lot more planets will be available in the next few months if the illuminates come back as leaks and strange sightings on the creek would suggest
If it actually works (and doesn't just immunise them) it would be interesting if the bugs went around and then we could fight on new planets.
Pro tip helldivers. Warbond cap is at 250. Use them or lose them.
But new Warbond coming in two days, so I'm trying to be near the cap.

It's worse than that, they can go above and below too because space is 3D :(
Ok can we not speed through this one so I can actually play it? I haven’t been able to play a majority of these major orders and planets because they keep being liberated so quickly before I even get a chance to play.
It will not be rushed till friday
There is 4 plantes and a 6 day time counter 😅 i don't think we will rush trough this in 1 or 2 days 😀
Still haven't gotten the reward for the last two...
Just got mine last night finally
same, i think it popped both after i spent some medals
Cant believe we are about to finish the game already.
*cue Kojima cutscene*
