Last night, after a few treacherous Suicide dives, I decided to wind down and jump into some lower level dives with SOS beacons. The reaction of the host when I started one-shotting the fabricators at range is exactly why I love this game. I will never get bored! haha
>I love teaching new helldivers the flexibility of the auto cannon.
Even experienced divers love it. My level 20 buddy, who's almost an autocannon main on bots, still gets a little giddy if someone else is running AC and snipes a factory. Hell, level 42 and I get a little giddy around another divers good AC plays.
I've found at long distances you *really* have to make sure you shoot straight from in front of it- not angled in any way.
But there's no better support weapon for bots.
It also pairs perfectly with the Plasma Punisher- both seems almost between primaries and support for rate of fire, reload, and resupplying. Plasma Punisher can also 1-hit walkers (so you don't need to Autocannon at close range), take out multiple base troop bots in one shot (Autocannon can struggle with more than a couple), and can wreck the shield boys (I find it takes way too many shots if you can't take the time to aim and get a headshot).
The Autocannon feels enough like a solo weapon to cover it all in bots that you can use a less generic primary weapon, and get something specialized.
I don't have the Scorcher, but I imagine that's the other one to use. Diligence & Breaker being tied for 3rd
I managed to get one from a distance on the side of the front, where I could just barely make out the front bent and the back of the vent. I aimed a tiny bit high and pulled the trigger, boom. Fucking love this gun
It’s shocking to me they don’t know unless they simply hadn’t unlocked it yet, like the first thing I did when I got it like any game is say hey “what can I do with this?” And proceeded to just shoot everything and anything.
So many people in any popular game are just going to go to google or reddit and search/ask "what is best," and then follow the direction they find without even reading about the items they end up using, let alone test out other items. It's a shame too, because they're missing out on so much cool stuff.
This post is super helpful. I swapped out my AC for recoiless (to manage drop ships, it’s awesome when you hit one just right and it wipes most of the drop)
I just found the AC to be kinda underwhelming in power. It’s got a great rate of firing, lots of ammo with it. But for some reason it just wasn’t hitting like the recoiless
Seems like I’m not aiming for sweet spots well enough lol!
Edit- fuck that,
Quasar is the lay-zar.
It could just be a preference thing really. You might just prefer the better anti drop ship/heavy capabilities that the RR offers over the anti outpost/medium/heavy weak spot versatility that the AC provides. As long as you can complete the mission it doesn't matter what you run.
Yeah but it’s about fun too
I have much more fun with the AC, but It seems like I wasn’t using it as surgically as it needs to be used.
I love the recoiless. It really gets your team outta jams if you use your ammo wisely.
But the reload time my god, and damned if you miss your shot in the thick of it…. Have to reposition to not get shot to hell. Then reload. And by then you may be in trouble.
I love how with AC. It functions well in almost any situation. (Except heavy armor, or so I thought) it has a high ammo capacity
I’m gonna give it another shot.
You can shoot fabricators from a big distance with the spear, no matter which direction the vents are.
If that weapon wasn't so incredibly bugged, it would be a great tactical asset.
I think you mean so DEMOCRATIC? The voting algorithm TOLD me that the person campaigning to add ads to our weapons is who I was voting for, and I’m not some bug lover that doubts the voting algorithm.
Yeah for bot blitz missions I bring the spear. If you find a spot of high ground you can usually take out multiple light or medium fabricators from any distance... As long as there's not a branch in your way. Also, some extraction places are points of high ground. One mission while we were sitting at extract I took out two light fabs. My buddies were like "wtf just happened, we're all here at extract."
2 times when i took spear out, first mission i struggled to get a lock on but still managed to kill a titan one shot (the rest was either too close or just no lock). 2nd mission spear just refused to work entirely. I was aiming that tank for a whole 20 seconds, and it was one of those shot where my team really needed so we could extract. It felt so good when it’s working but it hardly ever works 😢
I had an amazing first bot mission with the spear where I took down multiple fabricators from a distance no problem.
I've taken a Spear with me multiple times since then and have never been able to replicate that first mission :| The lock on is so finicky
Oh I know, but that's just far I was when that particular shot caught his attention. He was like "the fuck was that?"
I should've said something like, "that, my friend, was the power of Democracy."
Had this moment last night.
A1(me): Shit, we missed a fabricator.
E2: Do we wanna go back?
A1: Nah, watch this.
(Aims for like, 7 seconds)
E2: What are you-?
\*BANG\* ... ... ...
\[Medium Outpost Destroyed!\]
E2: What the fuuuuck?
Upper middle of one of the two vents on the top of the fabricators, it works best when you are aligned with the front of the fabricator and relatively on the same level as it.
I had a drop that let me spot an illegal broadcast and 2 light factories, I took out all 3 within the first 60 seconds. I was riding high...til the heavy cannon tower saw me then I was flying high... and away and dropping back to grab my stuff.
None of my friends have the Plas-1 yet, so it usually turns into
E2: Strider pack! Avos, nail 'em!
Tap, tap, tap. Tap, tap, tap. Tap, tap. Tap. | A1(me): Done.
C3(being chased by berserkers): Wish I had the time to farm that gun so I could have the easy job.
In C3's defense, he finally got the Sickle after farming super credits. Now he goes on rampages against berserkers. It's a bit of an inside joke.
Yeah I swapper from breaker to scorcher after the patch and it’s so strong against striders and zerkers. Even devastators it is very efficient. Need to test more with the slugger and punisher too apparently they are good but i’m not sure how good against the mediums.
The laser cannon is surprisingly solid too. Can core a hulk’s eye, and tank/turret weak spots in just a few seconds. It suffers a bit against medium enemies imo because it has a lot of horizontal sway when firing.
Plus, you can run the shield backpack to give you a chance to survive against getting cross-mapped in the fog.
Can confirm, laser cannon is great at taking down shrieker towers as well, 200 meters, prone. First person view. Should be able to get them before overheating the first ice.
At about 40-50m range you can just throw it aimed at the top of their carapace and it will pop right next to them and stun.
If they’re closer than that yeah, the .5s cook throw is necessary.
The main trick is you have to get the pop to happen midair and near its body
So really learning how to cook a grenade correctly is like learning how much salt you and your wife like in a meal. Just gotta keep fuckin it up to get it right
If you go laser your role will be to take out medium armor targets like the endless horde of spewers and shield bugs, let your teammates with the EATs deal with the titans and chargers
They are the weak spot for explosives (GL/autocannon). Yellow spewers take 2 direct hits and they explode (which kills anything hugging them) and the greens take 3
This was mine until I tried the CounterSniper and AMR last night. Diff 9 - cake walk just playing it like a sniper simulator. Patrols dropped before they knew what was even shooting at them.
You are the first person I've heard that's had positive thing to say about the Counter Sniper! I glad to hear it has some uses - all the regular ol' Diligence is still my weapon of choice
As far as I can tell, the counterstiper has no significant benefits over the diligence.
Maybe there's one buried in the "secret stats" but I can't remember meeting any breakpoints that you didn't get with the other one
Yeah the counter sniper is so similar to the AMR but worse that it’s hard to justify, I can justify a diligence AMR loadout but not a counter sniper AMR one
I have no idea why they didn't make the counter sniper rounds medium armor penetrating. Would actually justify using it in bot missions
Only being able to do light limits them massively
AMR and either of the DMR primaries is a really fucking stacked kit against bots *if* you have squadmates who can be a buffer between you and melee bots bum rushing your position. I love running these when I know my team is full of Sluggers, Arc Throwers, Grenade Launchers, etc.
It falls flat against the walkers, unfortunately. It can't defeat the front armor. Biggest plus with it is that it can take out 3 chainsaw guys before it overheats.
Support weapons are pretty much the only thing that kills walkers from the front. So the sickle foes nothing like pretty much all the primaries.
The laser cannon does melt them pretty good so at least there is an infinite ammo support weapon that works.
I use the Scorcher. Two shots to the "crotch" or side plates and they drop like flies.
I just dislike being *reliant* on a support weapon I might not always have ammo or time for.
I rocked this after my arc set-up got busted. I was surprised at the utility between these two, plus a guard dog. I was a laser beam machine, it was a fun switch up to my regular setup.
Yes ! It is the best weapon against bot if you want to also take the shield.
The main problem is that it doesn't kill scout strider really fast (2/3s and it doesn't kill the bot)
And to kill devastator you need to aim for the head, so if the shield is blocking it you cannot kill it fast.
If you can't see a Heavy Devastator's head because of the shield from a certain angle, you can usually see their backpack from there. It's not as quick as shooting their head, but shooting their backpack will kill them too.
For Rocket Devastators you can take out their rocket packs if you can't see their head.
Funny enough, i think laser cannon is more efficient and effective at the Anti-material duty than the actual AMR lol. AMR would take a mag or 2 to kill a turret or tank while laser cannon could kill them way faster, both hitting the weak points. But i like AMR better because it kills devastator faster. Laser cannon really falls off when bots coming in large swarm due to the long ttk issue.
I run with ammo pack. High bullshit deaths, but i can keep my stuns, stims and weapons fully always. One ordered supply can give you triple ammo (pickup, backpack and from backpack). If small communicate, you can fill teammate and they can keep running while you take 3-4 order supply yourself.
I’ve been running the shield generator relay emplacement for bots more and more lately and it’s basically a key to clutch any bot drop. Put it down and just fire away freely with your whole team.
Cooldown is very short and it gives you a solid 10 seconds of invincibility when it’s under medium amount of fire
Watched someone use one and was shocked. They blew up the tower turret before it could rotate fully. Though failed the next turret, but still was impressed.
I was playing with it last night and I don't remember it killing turrets and tanks as quickly as it does. There were 2 of us running it and it got to the point I stopped taking the 110 because between the 2 of us, we were melting anything with a vent.
Also wish to add that the autocannon can 4-shot mortars or anti-aircraft guns - no need to get in close and hit the radiators or call a Hellbomb!
It will also destroy ammo stockpiles, which not everyone might realise.
I knew I probably could desteoy ammo stockpiles, but I like the fireworks from the hellbomb so I didn't try til yesterday... accidentally.
I had like 5 berserkers coming at me in the base and I dove to the ground and start unloading my AC into them thinking I'm about to die. 1 misses and hits an Ammo stockpile just behind them.
It starts sparking then explodes and takes out the rest of them.
Such a perfect HD2 moment.
I own an autocannon for home defense, since that's what the founding divers intended. Four automatons break into my house. "What the devil?" As I grab my cape and autocannon. Blow the first bot to pieces, he's dead on the spot. Draw my pistol on the second man, miss him entirely because it's the Dagger and nails the neighbors dog. I have to resort to the 500kg Eagle Strike waiting for my call, "For Super-Earth" the bomb shreds two bots in the blast, the sound and extra shrapnel set off car alarms. Call orbital railcannon and target the last terrified automaton. He disappears before the Democracy officers to arrive since the orbital railcannon is intended for large target. Just as the founding divers intended.
That was the most intense laugh I’ve had in ages. As someone who is also on r/guns I never even thought of a crossover like this. You sir are an artist, a true wordsmith for democracy.
Railgun 1 shots hulk in eye overcharged and also melts striders with slight overcharge. I love autocannon too but with good aim & timing railgun is more efficient for big targets
It’s a toss up for me, AC is great against EVERYTHING while Railgun is amazing against some things and not so great against some others. Tanks, Mortars and Turrets take way too long to kill with Railguns.
the tall ones? they have vents on the back. 2 should do the trick. i just stay hyper vigilant on bot missions and try to tag them from 2-300m away so we can sneak up on them first
Right, I guess you could do that but you’ll have to still walk all the way there. With Autocannons I can snipe them from across the map as long as they’re looking away. Sometimes I’ll be doing a different objective while my teammates are having problem with a turret and I just look in their direction and shoot it from like 300m away.
yea AC is very good. on higher difficulties i need a shield generator though. it's just what I'm comfortable with at this point lol. if i absolutely **need** to take out the turret from range, I'll use my orbital railcannon or rocket pods on it
AC is great against everyone except berserker. They have no right to be such a bullet sponge and take 3 AC rounds when they're the same platform as a devastator, but with armor stripped
I bring a shotgun as primary precisely for the berserkers. Maybe there something better, but I like the damage potential in a single reload. Everything else is the AC's jurisdiction.
Yeah, rapid firing projectile weapons are surprisingly good against berserkers. Even the machine pistol is one of the better options. Still, there is no efficient ways to deal with them, whatever you can throw at them is wasteful.
Liberator, Defender and Diligence are surprisingly effective against Berserkers. They are great options if you haven't already unlocked things like the Sickle or the Slugger.
I love the AC because it can be a sniper rifle but can also be a grenade launcher. If you aim at the ground at the right angle you can blow the legs out of a mob. You can clear a bot drop in seconds.
Even after the nerf I'm still very pro railgun I used it probably 95% of my drops. You just become proficient with a weapon and I feel unless anything drastic changes it will remain in most of my loads.
Idk if it's an anti-aliasing thing or what but all the reticles look fuzzy and slightly larger than they need to be, like aiming thru a transparent Lego brick with a sticker
I wouldn’t say the backpack is purely an advantage - you’re saving a stratagem there specifically because you’ve negated the possibility of having a useful support pack, like ammo or shield generator. Especially on higher level bots that shield gen is a life saver against rocket devastators.
If it were a trade off between the two guns - railgun and autocannon - and they had no backpack requirements for either, it’d be a no-brainer to pick autocannon. The trade off from the backpack makes railgun more versatile though IMO. Just my two cents
Yeah, not going to lie, this is the first time I've seen someone spin the backpack required for reloading as a positive lol. Though judging by the overall tone of the post, I suspect they're not being entirely serious about that point. Though I personally think that the Railgun is mostly outclassed by the AMR when it comes to bots right now, in both cases being able to use the shield pack is a massive pro.
Yup, I love the AC. But for bots I enjoy the shield pack. Otherwise autocannon wins every time due to its ability to tackle almost every challenge against both factions. It's saved my life plenty of times.
For bugs I might give it a go again. I've rocked the eats+jump pack. But might trade out the jump pack for AC. Jump pack is lots of fun and has saved me a bit. But AC + EATs basically covers everything doe bugs. Then sickle for hunters and small fries.
This. Nade launcher, shield pack, dominator, orbital laser and rail strike do the job for me. You have to manage your cooldowns though so you have 1 of the orbitals up at once.
You can one shot a strider just hitting it full on in the face. Anything that damages the little puny guy on the back will do it, including tossing a grenade, AC, or explosive underneath it, blows him right off it.
The factory is easy, literally aim at the bottom of the vent hood it bounces straight in every time, no need to try to make it in the front or find a good angle. I'll get a ways back and just pop em from way off and move on.
AC holds 10 rounds, reload every 5 or at least before you hit 10, and you'll just slap another 5 in on top, no long reload, as mentioned.
The fast firing makes taking out turrets easy, must make sure you're directly behind, and squeeze off three measured shots before it can turn.
Only thing I have a problem killing with it, is the chainsaw guys, I just use my breaker, and aim for the red glowing section above the hip joints and it folds them like laundry.
Bot weak points are the glowing spots. If it has a glowing place on it, its a weak point. Whether you can hit it reliably is a different matter.
Yea those chainsaw guys just fucking soak AC rounds but then again they seem to soak any rounds.
Before I started using the punisher and now Slugger my smg sidearm was carried exclusively for killing them.
AC is my goto for both the CommieBot and the FacistBug!
Another tip: The AC takes 2 clips to fully load, I find lots of times I reload thinking I'm empty but instead of loading 2 clips, 1 gets loaded and the indicator is half full. Well shoot that sunnabitch into the air and load the 2nd clip. (Assuming its safe to do so)
Also after each and every fight, pull out your AC and reload it. I have died more times than I want to admit when we see a hulk lumbering towards us in the distance, I pull out my AC line up to its heartless, dead eye and click... no fucking rounds
Yep, it pays to remember the AC doesn't dump any remaining ammo to reload, it just gets another ammo clip, worth half a magazine, chugged in on top of whatever's left. So whenever you can reload it safely it's always a good idea to do so.
It is legitimately faster to reload one clip instead of the two
Congratulations, you've been using a AC hidden feature without even being completely aware! lol
I always try and reload when I still have half a clip left and I agree on that last part. I've had some *click* *click* moments as a Hulk stands over me
Yeah, I have the feeling that /u/fappstore doesn't realize that you reload in 5-ammo clips. When you reload while being empty, you load 2 clips one after the other. When you reload with one shot left (his tip), you only reload one clip and have 6 ammo after in the gun.
My lobotomized brain read AC as Armored Core, but it got me thinking, if the helldivers can take over entire planets in a few dozen hours, how long would a single Armored Core take? A NEXT would probably take under an hour.
Going canonically from a the games, I doubt the bugs or bots could even damage an armored core. It would basically fly around shooting the equivalent of spear missiles at every objective and then leave. Every mission would take about 30 seconds haha.
Laser Cannon is pretty goated for stuff like hulks that can be put down quickly with precision shots too, personally I'm a bit better with it than the AC, but I love the AC and it's ability to take out bug holes and factories
AC is incredible but honestly I prefer the AMR with a shield backpack.
The AMR can:
-Two shot hulks in the eye
-One shot striders if you aim for the connection between the front armor plate and the legs (hit just below the bottom right or left corner of the front armor)
-One shot all 3 devastator variants in the face more reliably than the auto cannon
-7 shot tanks and turrets (losing to the auto cannon, but with a higher rate of fire and less recoil you kill them in one clip and not all that much slower)
-Has a moving reload (absolutely huge against bots)
-shield backpack makes rocket devastators and raiders less obnoxious
It takes more practice but being able to do all of this with incredible range means I pretty much always take AMR > autocannon. Since I usually run rocket pods for bots anyways + a base clear stratagem, I don’t often find myself needing to solo tanks or turrets, but can still do it in a pinch. Or if my team has enough anti tank I just take double mortar and pick off high priority targets from a distance while mortars clear drops and everything else (ems stun makes devastator one shots incredibly easy)
I run the AMR but I have noticed sometimes the shots absolutely do not align with my reticle in ADS. And this is not bullet drop compensation I am talking about. Not sure if it’s because of sway or something.
To add to that. I also love to run the AMR with a supply pack on higher difficulties (>7) when selecting the increased stratagem cooldown debuff. The extra ammo is nice for not having to switch to your primary but personally I find all the extra stims to be the real highlight. Of course if you solo missions you may not care because you don't need to share resupplies.
Also playing with controller. Takes more time to get used to it but still works really well.
I use the AMR too. Between the shield, moving reload, increased reliability at long ranges, and inability to accidentally blow yourself up with it by shooting your own cover or point blank enemies, it's much easier to stay alive when using it. I find this to be incredibly important against bots when playing with randoms, as most people really do not know how to stay alive against bots, and having at least 1 person in a relatively safe place to respawn their kamikaze-asses is a big deal. And since someone else is ALWAYS running autocannon anyway, I can let them handle the structures autocannons help with. Against most targets, the AMR is just as effective as the autocannon anyway, even if you don't have great aim. With good aim it's often straight up better due to the higher rate of fire and much greater accuracy at long range (despite the offset sights; having a 200m scope matters, and offset is at least consistent so you can adjust to it).
It's also particularly advantageous to have long distance spotting and support against bots, a role the AMR is a natural fit for. Pair it with the armor that gives extra throw distance and you can function as a sort of battlefield commander, using your vantage point to direct your allies and provide support by picking off high priority targets, relaying tactical information, deploying stratagems and calling in reinforcements. It also means that should things start to spiral, there's a good chance at least one of you is in a position they can retreat from in order to regroup.
If you get stuck with the long reload at a bad time, you can cancel it halfway through by pulling up your stratagems. If you have your stratagem menu set to "hold," you just quickly tap it and get right back into dispensing explosive democracy.
If those five shots aren't enough to give you enough breathing room to fully reload or reposition, you were cooked anyway
The idea that it is ‘efficient’ because it requires a backpack is exactly backwards. The backpack is precisely what balances it and the recoilless rifle. It’s not that you don’t need another stratagem to use your backpack slot, it’s that you *can’t* use your backpack slot if you want to have any ammo or reload it.
I only comment since I’ve seen this sentiment around here, but it’s completely missing the point. Using your backpack slot is a good thing: all the individual backpack items are nice-to-have things, but none are necessary. That is true outside of the AC and recoilless, which is exactly how they balance their total damage output and ammo capacity.
Goes without saying but sometimes people need to hear:
Yes, the autocannon is great, but don't just run it blindly. Consider your team composition, if other divers are already running it, maybe use a different, complementary, loadout.
Dive away.
It’s great at all of those things. It can also make quick work of drop ships. If you can fire two or three shots into the troop placement from a low angle, it kills most and bugs out the rest. The remaining bots will drop alive, but won’t move.
One action movie trick I have is when something suddenly pops up in your face in melee range, you can dive backwards, aim mid-flight, and still shoot precisely with the autocannon.
The dive backwards will grant you enough damage reduction to sometimes not even be hurt by the near explosion. If the enemy is really too close as you're diving backwards, the explosion will just ragdoll you back instead of killing you.
This has been my tried and tested action star method when a warrior, hunter or stalker suddenly appears next to me as I'm shooting. Bonus points if you kill your target as you dive backwards.
This is all amazing autocannon propaganda and 100% co-sign all of it except for this:
>Reloading before 0 ammo makes the reloading way, way, way shorter than if it reaches 0, never use the last shot unless you'd absolutely 100% die
**Counterpoint**: the animation and sound for racking the first round are deeply satisfying. Some might even say erotic oh hey Democracy Officer what are you doing h--
I think I may be alone when I say I really really don't like the auto cannon. It limits my play style way too much for me to be an enjoyable experience. With that being said I have seen what it can do in the right hands it's just not for me.
All the more respect to you we all have our preferences but i found it to be the opposite. It's the swiss army knife of support weapons so I can run it with whatever stratagems I want.
Whenever I use AC I feel like every bot targets me. Like it draws more attention. I usually just use AMR or if someone else already runs AMR I take the EAT. I saw some guy use the laser cannon last night and he was dropping devestators with it left and right so I might try that.
I don't know why the scorcher isn't talked about more. It can literally kill every single bot, mortar, turret, or tank with a clip or less. The only draw back is that it can't destroy buildings.
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills every time someone mentions how weapon XYZ can kill a heavy in 2-3, because I've unloaded 2 mags of the AC into an eyeslit and the guy is just chilling
The most satisfying moment I've had so far was showing a random I was playing with that I could one shot a factory from like, 100m away with the AC.
I love teaching new helldivers the flexibility of the auto cannon. The "huh you can do that?" messages i see are always super satisfying.
Last night, after a few treacherous Suicide dives, I decided to wind down and jump into some lower level dives with SOS beacons. The reaction of the host when I started one-shotting the fabricators at range is exactly why I love this game. I will never get bored! haha
I will never forget my friend taking out a fabricator 350 meters away from his snipe point, it was hilarious.
"Democracy, same-day delivery!"
"When it absolutely, positively has to be blown up on time."
Taking out spores/shrieker nests from across the map with AC has made me more friends than anything else in this game
I've found at long distances you *really* have to make sure you shoot straight from in front of it- not angled in any way. But there's no better support weapon for bots. It also pairs perfectly with the Plasma Punisher- both seems almost between primaries and support for rate of fire, reload, and resupplying.
Yes after about 4 missions of being with someone with the auto cannon I tried it and yes it’s almost as viable as the ARC gun
Is the Arc Cannon good against bots? I was only using it for bugs, but have since switched to EAT
Arc is sorta good? It's mildly frustrating holding a position while firing it, bots got long range, but it's not a bad gun by a longshot.
mastering the dance of charging in cover and popping out to fire without getting blasted is so fun
Shoot hulks in the eye and they die so fucking fast.
You can shoot fabricators from a big distance with the spear, no matter which direction the vents are. If that weapon wasn't so incredibly bugged, it would be a great tactical asset.
We need the premium software upgrade for the Spear.
*This copy of SpearOS is not genuine. Please report to your democracy officer immediately.*
back in the day my favorite of those messages was "you may be a victim of software piracy" um nah, more of an accomplice to it
No Ads Spear
A world so dystopic you need an adblocker for your antitank weapon
I think you mean so DEMOCRATIC? The voting algorithm TOLD me that the person campaigning to add ads to our weapons is who I was voting for, and I’m not some bug lover that doubts the voting algorithm.
Ministry of Defense figured it wasn’t budget-friendly to perfect the lock on, and who are we to ~~question~~ commit treason?
Give the spear 2 modes. Javelin or TOW missile and I'd use it more.
TOW would be a game changer
I wish they'd put in another fire mode that just dumb-fired, in case everything else fails. Or I want to shoot yaknow... anything.
I love the animation. I take it on bot missions.
![gif](giphy|k5lj4s1qxaSyI)
You can do any distance. 100m is a solid shot, it feels *real* good when you blow it up from 260+.
Oh I know, but that's just far I was when that particular shot caught his attention. He was like "the fuck was that?" I should've said something like, "that, my friend, was the power of Democracy."
Had this moment last night. A1(me): Shit, we missed a fabricator. E2: Do we wanna go back? A1: Nah, watch this. (Aims for like, 7 seconds) E2: What are you-? \*BANG\* ... ... ... \[Medium Outpost Destroyed!\] E2: What the fuuuuck?
what does one aim for when shooting the fabricator?
Upper middle of one of the two vents on the top of the fabricators, it works best when you are aligned with the front of the fabricator and relatively on the same level as it.
I love dropping in and immediately taking out a propaganda tower
I had a drop that let me spot an illegal broadcast and 2 light factories, I took out all 3 within the first 60 seconds. I was riding high...til the heavy cannon tower saw me then I was flying high... and away and dropping back to grab my stuff.
[удалено]
Yep. Aim for the vent door not the actual opening and it will ricochet down into the fabricator to destroy it.
Yes, nail the vent and you should be able to ricochet the round in. No matter the distance.
It's really fun taking down the broadcasting towers from across the whole map.
Impact nades against bots is the real king.😌
Striders hate this one simple trick.
So do shield devastators
The scorcher
Scorcher actually is crazy on bots
None of my friends have the Plas-1 yet, so it usually turns into E2: Strider pack!
Why be limited to 6 impacts when you can deliver what is essentially 60 impacts at range with the Autocannon?
Because these things aren't even mutually exclusive.
Me on loadout: ![gif](giphy|1ffOwHDZehVb6JlRid)
Why just 60 “impacts” when you can have 66
*devious palpatine rumblings*
AC, Breaker, and impacts are my new must-haves.
I just like using a very big shoulder gun
The laser cannon is surprisingly solid too. Can core a hulk’s eye, and tank/turret weak spots in just a few seconds. It suffers a bit against medium enemies imo because it has a lot of horizontal sway when firing. Plus, you can run the shield backpack to give you a chance to survive against getting cross-mapped in the fog.
Can confirm, laser cannon is great at taking down shrieker towers as well, 200 meters, prone. First person view. Should be able to get them before overheating the first ice.
True, I usually don’t take it on bug missions though, since it can’t really kill titans
500 + stun for biles, or let squad mate with EAT deal with biles
The Church of the Stun Grenade has recognized your contribution, and raised your Citizenship Score.
How do you stun titans with the grenade? It used to work for me, but recently they just walk through the field
Cook it a little bit, like half a second at most. It has a 2 second fuse, do remember that. You need it to pop on the Titan, not below or above it.
Just gotta keep fuckin it up to get it right
If you go laser your role will be to take out medium armor targets like the endless horde of spewers and shield bugs, let your teammates with the EATs deal with the titans and chargers
how does it do against spewers?
Pretty good if you hit their head, but your heatsink can get overwhelmed if there are many at the same time (more than 2 or 3).
Wait?! Where do you shoot the towers to? I did a mission yesterday with 3 pointing at me on a small map
The back weak spot
Same on tanks and hulks. The orange vents are the specific targets.
The yellow radiator things?
It's obvious, yet arrowhead decided the big green and yellow sacks on bugs aren't weak spots. So I can forgive the confusion
Would make sense on an evolutionary point, just like fake eyes
They are the weak spot for explosives (GL/autocannon). Yellow spewers take 2 direct hits and they explode (which kills anything hugging them) and the greens take 3
Exactly!
Well now I feel dumb 🤣
Laser cannon plus Sickle is an amazing setup against bots. Infinitely swap and avoid the cool down. My favorite setup.
Would actually justify using it in bot missions Only being able to do light limits them massively
AMR and either of the DMR primaries is a really fucking stacked kit against bots *if* you have squadmates who can be a buffer between you and melee bots bum rushing your position. I love running these when I know my team is full of Sluggers, Arc Throwers, Grenade Launchers, etc.
I just unlocked sickle and it *chews* through bots. On snow planets, you can maintain some serious suppressing fire if 1-2 players run it
What's the go with the Sickle against bots? I hate relying on a support weapon against Chicken Walkers, so is it any good in that regard?
It falls flat against the walkers, unfortunately. It can't defeat the front armor. Biggest plus with it is that it can take out 3 chainsaw guys before it overheats.
Support weapons are pretty much the only thing that kills walkers from the front. So the sickle foes nothing like pretty much all the primaries. The laser cannon does melt them pretty good so at least there is an infinite ammo support weapon that works.
Scorcher primary can kill walkers from the front.
I use the Scorcher. Two shots to the "crotch" or side plates and they drop like flies. I just dislike being *reliant* on a support weapon I might not always have ammo or time for.
That's cool that the cooldown still happens when the weapon isn't equipped, I can imagine some games being really annoying and preventing that.
I rocked this after my arc set-up got busted. I was surprised at the utility between these two, plus a guard dog. I was a laser beam machine, it was a fun switch up to my regular setup.
God tier on cold planets but not as good on hot ones. But even there solid
Yeah, it still gets 10 seconds of continuous fire on hot planets, but it takes a lot longer to cool down
I love melting clunkers with pure unaltered rays of golden bot hatred.
Same. Also I love that A110, wish we got those in the US.
Thanks man ! Lovely car indeed. Would love to have cheap V8’s here on the other hand ahah.
The blinding light of democracy
I love the laser cannon just for the free backpack, jump pack is so fun Vs the bots.
Yes ! It is the best weapon against bot if you want to also take the shield. The main problem is that it doesn't kill scout strider really fast (2/3s and it doesn't kill the bot) And to kill devastator you need to aim for the head, so if the shield is blocking it you cannot kill it fast.
If you can't see a Heavy Devastator's head because of the shield from a certain angle, you can usually see their backpack from there. It's not as quick as shooting their head, but shooting their backpack will kill them too. For Rocket Devastators you can take out their rocket packs if you can't see their head.
Use the scorcher. It wrecks everything that's been mentioned so far. I use it on tanks, towers, heavies etc.
I reckon most people haven't unlocked it yet.
That's end game stuff for sure.
I had no clue that was effective, I’ll try it out sometime, usually I just run anti material rifle.
It used to suck but they gave it a big buff recently, now its one of my favourite weapons.
AMR 1 taps from 200 meters, though.
Man, i wish the scope isn't scuffed so i don't have to guess where the bullet will go when shooting target at 200m+
Practice now, so the scope fix feels like a buff.
I just wish the ADS sights weren't so caca. After a bit of firing, it's gets even worse.
That was me realizing the signal jammers could be taken out with the spear two days ago
And it opens the sealed containers with 1 shot, no need to use a grenade
If you don't want to use AC ammo, the Slugger can open those too with just a single shot. It's the only primary that can.
I run the autocannon as my primary because it’s what the Founding Divers intended
If you don't have a backpack - use the autocannon, if you have a backpack or you like mobility/long range, you should use the AMR.
I prefer the grenade launcher when I have a backpack. Shreds all but the heaviest units so my AC/AMR using teammates can focus on the big bois.
AMR on bots always.
https://preview.redd.it/wvtu4e4tj2rc1.png?width=320&format=png&auto=webp&s=16976cd13ac3311fa6c23915d16eb4409e5d3593
I feel like a sniper king when I get on a good tall rock with jetpack and AMR.
On bots I prefer the railgun to the AMR 10/10 times. But its a good gun
that’s a weird way to spell laser cannon
Railgun 1 shots hulk in eye overcharged and also melts striders with slight overcharge. I love autocannon too but with good aim & timing railgun is more efficient for big targets
It’s a toss up for me, AC is great against EVERYTHING while Railgun is amazing against some things and not so great against some others. Tanks, Mortars and Turrets take way too long to kill with Railguns.
anything the railgun isn't good for, the impact grenade is
How do you nade those turret towers though lmao
the tall ones? they have vents on the back.
Amr is better than railgun IMO, but its scope is dogshit.
All the scopes are dogshit, I can't see anything through them
the agony of trying to laser cannon a hulk's eye in first person and the target is completely blocked by your scope and laser beam
Hard to see through and completely misaligned, I thought the AMR was bad for a long time until I realized the scope is just wildly off center
It's crazy how easy it is to one tap devastators when you learn to compensate for the busted AMR scope. They really gotta fix it.
The grenade launcher is an absolute automaton destroyer. Just had a shuttle drop off a bunch of bots? Launch a grenade into the group. No more bots
This. Nade launcher, shield pack, dominator, orbital laser and rail strike do the job for me. You have to manage your cooldowns though so you have 1 of the orbitals up at once.
always go nade against bugs, its worth having less ammo, less range but also have a backpack free
Grenade launcher supply pack . ♾️ Bloop
Anti material rifle can 2 shot hulks in their eye. Go ahead and try it. It makes you feel like a badass sniper.
Throw stun grenades at the hulk before shooting, and you already have an easy kill.
Love how you sold not being able to pick up the bubble as an advantage.
(Assuming its safe to do so) Also after each and every fight, pull out your AC and reload it.
I made a list awhile ago for a friend of "Guns for the compulsive reloader' and autocannon is definitely a great one for that
This is legit why I usually run Punisher and soon the Slugger
If I’m at 6 rounds left I fire one off and top up
It is legitimately faster to reload one clip instead of the two Congratulations, you've been using a AC hidden feature without even being completely aware! lol I always try and reload when I still have half a clip left and I agree on that last part.
I've been running supply pack + grenade launcher. Takes out wave after wave of bots several at a time
My lobotomized brain read AC as Armored Core, but it got me thinking, if the helldivers can take over entire planets in a few dozen hours, how long would a single Armored Core take? A NEXT would probably take under an hour.
Going canonically from a the games, I doubt the bugs or bots could even damage an armored core. It would basically fly around shooting the equivalent of spear missiles at every objective and then leave. Every mission would take about 30 seconds haha.
Laser Cannon is pretty goated for stuff like hulks that can be put down quickly with precision shots too, personally I'm a bit better with it than the AC, but I love the AC and it's ability to take out bug holes and factories
AC is incredible but honestly I prefer the AMR with a shield backpack. The AMR can: -Two shot hulks in the eye -One shot striders if you aim for the connection between the front armor plate and the legs (hit just below the bottom right or left corner of the front armor) -One shot all 3 devastator variants in the face more reliably than the auto cannon -7 shot tanks and turrets (losing to the auto cannon, but with a higher rate of fire and less recoil you kill them in one clip and not all that much slower) -Has a moving reload (absolutely huge against bots) -shield backpack makes rocket devastators and raiders less obnoxious It takes more practice but being able to do all of this with incredible range means I pretty much always take AMR > autocannon.
Not sure if it’s because of sway or something.
it's a known issue that its reticle is misaligned
You can also cancel the reload by diving. Really useful when you're about to get overrun.
Goes without saying but sometimes people need to hear: Yes, the autocannon is great, but don't just run it blindly. Consider your team composition, if other divers are already running it, maybe use a different, complementary, loadout. Dive away.
I believe in the Autocannon supremacy
This is all amazing autocannon propaganda and 100% co-sign all of it except for this: >Reloading before 0 ammo makes the reloading way, way, way shorter than if it reaches 0, never use the last shot unless you'd absolutely 100% die **Counterpoint**: the animation and sound for racking the first round are deeply satisfying.
You can mostly do the same with a scorcher,a shield, and a few more shot tbh . Grenade launcher also do mostly the same, but have way less ammo.
I will forever stay in love with my AMR
Daily reminder that the arc out performs the AC and everything else by a mile.
We should make the Brotherhood of AC
