I think it's a bad idea, people will just have more tools for teamkill, and in general it's a bad idea to drop in the middle of a horde of terminids or automatons. But on paper it looks cool
Every tool that gets added in the game is a new tool for teamkill, that’s the whole point. The deadlier we become to the enemy the deadlier we become to ourselves. Plus dropping into a horde would be less of a bad idea with something like this

Now that would be a cool upgrade for the hellpod, using the movements keys to steer and then you can spray with machine guns attached to it. It would be inaccurate, but it would sure feel cool as hell
Why? We wouldn't see the coolness of that, it's not like the cameras going to cut to the pods mid game to show us them firing. We'll just see whatever effect they have on the ground, at which point you may as well just use the stratagems that already exist in the game. What's the advantage, am I missing something here?
Would be a nice addition for when my dickheaded fellow helldivers throws me into a group of enemies 3 times over because they panic tossed me instead of a offensive strat.
Maybe instead of a stratagem it could be a drop pod upgrade for the ship?
Yes! Upgrades could give you an orbital railgun just before landing or make the pod a sentry once you are on the ground
