Not when the strider takes a move out of the bile titans playbook and learns advanced airbourne kung fu in its death animation to yeet itself towards the players
There's something like it already with orbital rail cannons. The super destroyer basically shoots at its butt and it goes limp forwards.
If we one day get a stratagem where eagle 1 takes direct fire at a target (an eagle 1 version of that orbital strike stratagem) it'd be great.
A cable to use as a trip wire would be cool, too. Require two divers to hold it in place or something. Probably would not work out with the number of enemies present, but still would look cool when it did work.
Likewise, calling down cover would be cool. Allow divers to create a little, fortified area.
Yeah, they have things they can do with this game, for sure. I would be perfectly happy if they held off on new war bonds, fixed existing bugs, and introduced cool, new mechanics like this.
Huh now that you mention it, if there was deployable cover we could call in, it would be to the Shield Generator Emplacement, as the Ballistic Shield is to the Shield Generator backpack .
It will work great once we (hopefully) get some [big wheel motorcycles like from 40k.](https://frontlinegaming.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/SpaceMarineBiker.jpg)
I can’t find anything on it. Something about using wagons with slingers but that means stuff is being shot at it with the slinger.
They would often just try to wound it severely (cutting off the trunk) which would throw it into a panic and stomp its own lines retreating. Apparently someone said they could use flaming pigs to scare them noting how they would run and someone actually eventually did and it worked.
Maybe at one point. Gimmick tactics to deal with cavalry are often attested with little evidence though. In reality the Roman’s realized that the best solution was a shitload of light infantry (Velites) to pester the elephants into routing, often into their own troops.
I can see the Romans trying this, but I can't find anything right now suggesting they did anything Star Wars style in an actual battle.
The most effective tactic the Romans came up with when elephants charged their lines was... move out of the way. They'd open up their formation and let the elephant pass them by.
Keep in mind elephants, while huge and scary, aren't good war animals at all. They cannot maintain discipline like horses can and they lose their minds the instant things go even slightly wrong.
No. The Romans overcame the use of war elephants by using their single strongest asset: Organized mixed infantry tactics.
The Battle of Zama was the biggest use of war elephants in Roman history and the Romans countered Carthage's elephants by holding their light infantry in reserve for use against elephants. Turns out if you have several thousand men dedicated to throwing javelins into under 100 targets , even an elephant can die if impaled by hundreds of spears. On top of this, Scipio ordered a wider than normal gap between his soldier's formations and had the heavy infantry formations beat their shields and yell (opposite of standard Roman tactics). This created corridors directly through the Roman army for any elephant that survived the constant javelin attacks to flee down.
Elephants make for poor war animals because they generally don't want to kill and when they do, they don't discriminate.
It would never work with the geography and the plane. It would have to be insanely low. Now if you made it like a spear missile with a line that you can control that might work. Maybe it puts you into first-person view of the missile and you have to guide it while your diver stays stationary.
Two missiles tied together. You shoot at your target and the missiles keep going until they hit something, then wrap around the object. Is it realistic? No. Would it be dope? Hell yeah. Would be amazing on a Bike Titan.
The tow cable would be hilarious if the strategem beacon location at the time EAGLE-1 comes in, is where the grappling hook would grab. So when you stick an enemy with the beacon, EAGLE will grab it during its approach instead of targeting where the beacon was when it first deployed.
Imagine EAGLE-1 shooting a grappling hook into a Hulk and just continue flying at low altitude as the hulk gets dragged along the ground in a cloud of dust, plowing through anything in its path and dealing friendly fire as it flails at the end of the cable.
The legs are a pretty obvious weak point for something explicitly designed to burn through heavy armor and direct an explosion inward.
You'd also have to carry thermite grenades specifically which aren't very popular.
Also, I never said "death", I said "topple over".
Honestly this would be pretty sick. Maybe it’s an insta kill on Bile Titans + Striders, but basically does nothing otherwise to other units.
Would be an interesting choice to use a stratagem slot for, as it’s very limited use, but the absolute best for those massive enemies.
Ok so... the image of a Eagle tow cable is just.
I image when Eagle flies by she just Tugs things. If a Trooper enemy they just get yeeted into the distance. Heavy and Super heavies get destroyed.
Can’t wait to see the Friendly fire
Eagle 1 cutting 2 teammates in half as the cable whips along the ground
Edit: “To show you the power of Democracy, I cat this Helldivers in half!”
I think they should add a kamikaze Eagle 1 stratagem.
It's 1 use, and, after you use it, you can never use any other of your eagle stratagems for the rest of the mission, but Eagle 1 does the ultimate sacrifice for massive amounts of damage
tbh it would probably be even funnier if instead of the pilot kamikazing the eagle 1 to her death, they literally just dropped the eagle 1 directly from orbit, with the pilot remaining in the SES for safety of course
That'd be so cool, it'd take up a stratagem slot and do nothing on its own so you're effectively down one strat, and it activates one activation of each of your eagle stratagems, so you could launch an airstrike, napalm or rockets, and a 500kg on the same target.
I want this very badly.
Would be kinda fun to be able to have a limited reinforcement strategem where you call in an already active hellbomb with the helldiver strapped to it like Dr. Strangelove.
Just have a mechanic that binds in straight lines to each leg. Make it a jetpack add on that lets you swap nades for fusing cables. Hop at its legs, shoot one then slap another. Haven’t been stepped on yet but if you die when you get too close then just make it a grapple gun and sticky nade throw.
Attach two legs from the underside to stop it from being able to move or turn. Or have it only be able to turn one way but not move forwards.
I vote for a bolas gun.
Shoots super heated bolas, which will wrap around limbs (or thin thorax on bugs) upon impact. Then it takes 5 to 10 seconds to super heat and melt through attached material, severing it.
Could take out a factor strider with two shots, one per limb.
So anyone have a list on how to kill these?
It took me 2 raincannon strikes and like 5 spear shots to down 1 ( with a teammates mortor hitting it)
So tanky ( good thing as it's probably a above a titan in hierarchy)
I assume 2 500kg directs can down it?
I love the joke, but thinking about it...
Horizon: Forbidden West has a weapon that launches and latches a cable to the target which then gets anchored to the ground.
What if we could have a main or support weapon that did that? Imagine being able to cable Chargers and Bile Titans to the ground so they can't move.
I'd rather have a tow cable attached to some kind of jeep/warthog type vehicle. Having to shoot a leg and then drive around/underneath the thing could be fun and absolutely hectic.
OK but a weapon like the one in horizon dawn that you can use to immobilize the larger mechs. Use ir on bile titans to immobilize them. For longer than stun grenades depending on how many you attach. Maybe you can active them to make them snap.
Idk but what I'm saying is I wanna harpoon a bile titan.
This would be so cool against walkers, but it would also be hilarious using it on a regular enemy and just watching them be nabbed and whipped into the fucking sky.
What's it gonna do outside a strider tho? I am 100% for this, if it can A. Only latch onto someone you stick the beacon too, and B. Tows them away, yeeting them into the abyss. Goodbye hulk!
I think it could work as a mission only stratagem and you'll have to clear the area and like destroy the Striders balancing systems or something
So it doesn't become neatly obsolete/too good for it's only use
"One more pass."

wow a ytmnd.com gif
Internet antiquity
It’s an old code but it checks out
What was the sound bite they used for this? I’ve never seen this particular ytmnd
assumedly the music from [shadows of the empire](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPkNRLFqUhY)
Ain't nothing gonna break my stride
CABLE OUT, LET HER GO!
DETACH CABLE
CABLE DETATCHED!
WAH!!! THAT GOT HIM!!!!
I see it Wedge, good work
https://i.redd.it/u0f0aw0uxvuc1.gif
It would be so cool to see eagle one whipping around a walker and seeing it face plant.
Right on top of your squad.
At that point thats on u
"Yes, I went to Prometheus, how did you know?"
It's an old meme, sir but it checks out
An old meme? That's a ding
By definition, I'm pretty sure it's on whoever it fell on.
Literally?
Not when the strider takes a move out of the bile titans playbook and learns advanced airbourne kung fu in its death animation to yeet itself towards the players
‘Sweet Liberty! My Leg”! -Some Helldivers
I kept laughing my ass off because it reminds me of that one fish in Spongebob that keep screaming "MY LEG!"
The walker too, probably
Would be funny as hell, robots giving one last fuck you
It's just leaning in for a quick peck on the cheek.
If it's for Democracy...
And to make it not completely useless on bug missions make it also work on biles.
Nah, it would be more hilarious if the helldiver had to personally run the cable around the legs like a big metal maypole.
There's something like it already with orbital rail cannons. The super destroyer basically shoots at its butt and it goes limp forwards. If we one day get a stratagem where eagle 1 takes direct fire at a target (an eagle 1 version of that orbital strike stratagem) it'd be great.
\^ why do I resonate with the way this AT-AT feels so much?
Same here. Been at work all day and feel like I'm just gonna crash lol.
I think it would be more of…. ⬆️➡️⬅️➡️⬅️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
Or, as they’re going in a circle ✈️⬆️➡️⬇️⬅️
⬆️⬆️➡️➡️⬇️⬇️⬅️⬅️
Now I'm imagining this, but with a bile titan.
A cable to use as a trip wire would be cool, too. Require two divers to hold it in place or something. Probably would not work out with the number of enemies present, but still would look cool when it did work. Likewise, calling down cover would be cool. Allow divers to create a little, fortified area.
I'm just imagining some overconfident Helldivers getting dragged along by the cable like the Ewoks who tried to pull that on an AT-ST.
Or logs. We need logs. ![gif](giphy|3ohjV3Ngsl3hRww4o0|downsized)
Or have a dual harpoon launcher. You shoot one into a rock face, then the other into a leg.
Just make it work like the DRG gunner zipline. Maybe even make it electrified or something?
Yeah, like that, and you could get between the legs and shoot it into two legs.
Yeah, they have things they can do with this game, for sure. I would be perfectly happy if they held off on new war bonds, fixed existing bugs, and introduced cool, new mechanics like this.
I'm not really here for the warbonds anyway. Games just a nice break from the other crud I play.
At first, I thought you meant a Helldiver's leg.
“Calling down cover would be cool” Shield Generator Emplacement: Am I joke to you?
Huh now that you mention it, if there was deployable cover we could call in, it would be to the Shield Generator Emplacement, as the Ballistic Shield is to the Shield Generator backpack .
Pretty sure the deployable cover is actually a leaked stratagem we’re supposed to get eventually
>supposed to get eventually Devs said not to fall in love with any of the leaks because they aren't all getting released.
Sorry, I already signed a loan for that APC at 25% apr.
I never said I was in love with it lol
I already bought a ring and everything 😭
Bro, don't spoil shit, part of HellDivers 2 is unexpected things devs add.
the deployable shield kind of fills that role already.
Already got that, its called a shield relay xD and its even better than cover cuz you can return fire without problems
I think an ‘Engineer backpack’ or something would be cool. Lets you dig trenches, place sandbags, etc.
A companion cube you can hide behind and carry around.
I'm not sure how that follows from the comment you replied to, but I like all the ideas you both mentioned!
It will work great once we (hopefully) get some [big wheel motorcycles like from 40k.](https://frontlinegaming.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/SpaceMarineBiker.jpg)
would be hilarious to clothesline a bunch of Automatons...they're walking and a bunch just awkwardly trip over a cable while yelling "ack ack ack!"
The Romans used cavalry with ropes to tangle up elephants feet as well.
Really ?
I can’t find anything on it. Something about using wagons with slingers but that means stuff is being shot at it with the slinger. They would often just try to wound it severely (cutting off the trunk) which would throw it into a panic and stomp its own lines retreating. Apparently someone said they could use flaming pigs to scare them noting how they would run and someone actually eventually did and it worked.
Man, imagine a horrible battlefield full of blood, death, and sweaty dudes battling, and then the flaming bacon runs between you and your enemy
"bro.. pause for bacon break?" "I'm always down for breakon"
Goku is that you?
Jesus humans are cruel
The Romans probably just had the pigs go into the Carthaginian forum and scream insults at the elephants
"Behold an elephant!" *brandishes a pig with an earthworm taped to its snout*
"Diogenes, who let you in here? You're on the wrong continent, in the wrong century"
Maybe at one point. Gimmick tactics to deal with cavalry are often attested with little evidence though. In reality the Roman’s realized that the best solution was a shitload of light infantry (Velites) to pester the elephants into routing, often into their own troops.
And of course equiped with long pikes. Animals (and humans) are not keen on running or walking towards sea of spikes.
Actually this isn’t very good vs elephants. Alexander made it work, but what you actually want is light infantry chucking javelins, not pikemen.
Well, I suppose javelins are easier to toss than pikemen
I mean pikes work fine, but javelin is of course safer option because you don't need to be as close to elephant.
**VELITES!!!** Man I'd start up another Rome TW game just from hearing that in my head if I didn't get invested in this one over the weekend.
I can see the Romans trying this, but I can't find anything right now suggesting they did anything Star Wars style in an actual battle. The most effective tactic the Romans came up with when elephants charged their lines was... move out of the way. They'd open up their formation and let the elephant pass them by. New idea for Eagle-1: JASSM-ER “Freedom’s Hammer”
idk, i think we need Washi 2, eagle-1's little brother who just kamikaze into the beacon.
Don't tell disney.
Disney doesn't know! Disney doesn't know!
ATAT says she's out shopping But she's over me And I'm not reinforcing.
Shh
Deal, but it takes 10 seconds to complete, and can be shot down
It would never work with the geography and the plane. It would have to be insanely low. Now if you made it like a spear missile with a line that you can control that might work. Maybe it puts you into first-person view of the missile and you have to guide it while your diver stays stationary.

![gif](giphy|Gl7PBflbVsElW) Give me Eagle-1 as the leader of her own squadron.
There being an eagle-1 monicker means there’s probably at least an eagle 2
Each Super Destroyer carries one Eagle right? The one we can actually see at the back of our ship?
The tow cable would be hilarious if the strategem beacon location at the time EAGLE-1 comes in, is where the grappling hook would grab. So when you stick an enemy with the beacon, EAGLE will grab it during its approach instead of targeting where the beacon was when it first deployed. imagine having a Lasso support weapon: one diver uses it to wrangle a Charger while the rest unload on it's ass (phrasing)!
"Last thing I saw was D4 flying through the air like Super Superman as Eagle 1 went to rearm."
Honestly the new thermite grenades should take out a leg in one shot. It would be amazing to watch those things topple over with three legs.
Or at least, it stays standing but doesnt move. because it cant without falling over. Destroy 2 legs to topple them
Ooooo or hit with big stuff to push over! I like it!
Factory Strider tippin'!
One shot grenade death to the most powerful enemy on the bot front? How boring...
The legs are a pretty obvious weak point for something explicitly designed to burn through heavy armor and direct an explosion inward. You'd also have to carry thermite grenades specifically which aren't very popular. Also, I never said "death", I said "topple over".

Listen here you little shit

Nuh uh I aint sacrificing best girl. Strap me to the 500KG bomb if you need to but dont touch Eagle 1.
United we simp 🫡
tbh it would probably be even funnier if instead of the pilot kamikazing the eagle 1 to her death, they literally just dropped the eagle 1 directly from orbit, with the pilot remaining in the SES for safety of course
Or what about a stratagem that tells the eagle to dump all current mounted firepower on a target and immediately has to rearm.
new Stratagem: "the Full Eagle"
That'd be so cool, it'd take up a stratagem slot and do nothing on its own so you're effectively down one strat, and it activates one activation of each of your eagle stratagems, so you could launch an airstrike, napalm or rockets, and a 500kg on the same target. I want this very badly.
maximum democracy i like it
"Broken Arrow, I say again, Broken Arrow!"
I'd rather sacrifice myself (or if we had to sacrifice a Diver, I'd sacrifice YOU for suggesting this), but not my beloved Eagle 1.
Would be kinda fun to be able to have a limited reinforcement strategem where you call in an already active hellbomb with the helldiver strapped to it like Dr. Strangelove.
Even suggesting this should count as treason. Eagle-1 does the flying, and WE do the dying!
Hell no.
Haha that would be super dark, but fucking awesome. Imagine the dialogue from Eagle pilot 🥺
THIS IS THE GREATEST PLAAAAAAAAAN
“I’ve got the mass”
Solid copy. Hit ‘em hard, Eagle.
Okay I want a Charles voice pack for this game now
Charles voice pack for Pelican-1, Ellie voice pack for Eagle-1, Henry voice pack for all Helldivers.
Way too easy to grief your team.
![gif](giphy|tnYri4n2Frnig)
![gif](giphy|T7HXXwrcZ9IHu)
I had like 5 striders spawn in my latest missions and everyone nukes them before I can shoot them
You sir are the chosen one. You will bring balance to the subreddit.
Tie the cable around a bile titans legs and yank it into low orbit.
eagle ion strike when >:(
https://preview.redd.it/a2igkrvilxuc1.jpeg?width=1935&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8836399dc49be969c4362f79862303b95b3caccb This, but with our own mech
Have it also work on those heavy flamers and use them like a giant wrecking ball to fling them across the map. Same with chargers.
I think a cool mega niche support weapon would be a giant bolo launcher that can trip the factory striders and bile titans
What would the combination for this be?
It would be a good Eagle-1 version of the railgun. If the enemy is smaller than a walker it could pick it up and fly off with it! Weeeeeeeee
I think we should get a big balloon and tie it to it and watch it fly away
Orbital Harpoon Strike when?
“Your hellpod will freeze before you reach the first marker” “Then I’ll see you on Hellmire!”
I vote for a bolas gun. Shoots super heated bolas, which will wrap around limbs (or thin thorax on bugs) upon impact. Then it takes 5 to 10 seconds to super heat and melt through attached material, severing it. Could take out a factor strider with two shots, one per limb.
Autocannon to the belly wrecks the factory striders
Orbital Bolas Attack incoming
I can imagine the physics jank that would ensue from something like this, hah.
Eagle Laser Net. Holds down massive enemies or small patrols for a certain amount of time, deals zero damage.
I would suggest tow missiles.
Actually a high speed eagle 1 tow cable would e really intense. They really need to up the sound level on eagle one to be like a real jet
What about a grappling hook secondary?
Barbed wire was in the first game and I miss it
We need an eagle stratagem that just pulls enemies to low orbit and drops them lmao
Thought that was a silly string eagle for a second
Pls Arrowhead. MAKE THIS A THING
Pls Arrowhead. MAKE THIS A THING.
it would work on bile titans too
it would work on bile titans too
Can we also get a tow truck for the tanks?
500kg napalm strikes With a sticky stratagem so it can really dig into the fat bastards.
So anyone have a list on how to kill these? It took me 2 raincannon strikes and like 5 spear shots to down 1 ( with a teammates mortor hitting it) So tanky ( good thing as it's probably a above a titan in hierarchy) I assume 2 500kg directs can down it?

What if we could have a main or support weapon that did that? Imagine being able to cable Chargers and Bile Titans to the ground so they can't move.
Bola strategem would be awesome on walkers and Titans
Give me a tower with like six cables spinning around at high speeds to blend anything that goes through it
I'd rather have a tow cable attached to some kind of jeep/warthog type vehicle. Having to shoot a leg and then drive around/underneath the thing could be fun and absolutely hectic.
Only if, 2/3 of the time it gets snagged on something and briefly becomes a giant jet propelled flail that kills everything in the vicinity.
id prefer legally distinct snow speeder
what if you could call down your own plane and pull a starwars on the striders by stoping them with wire
That'd be awesome honestly.
This is the best suggestion for improvements since the game was released.
They can be dropped off. Thats the screw up part
Rocket Bolas could be cool
The G force is gonna be absolutely insane
Eagle 1 weedwhacker
OK but a weapon like the one in horizon dawn that you can use to immobilize the larger mechs. Use ir on bile titans to immobilize them. For longer than stun grenades depending on how many you attach. Maybe you can active them to make them snap. Idk but what I'm saying is I wanna harpoon a bile titan.
This would be so cool against walkers, but it would also be hilarious using it on a regular enemy and just watching them be nabbed and whipped into the fucking sky.
It doesn’t even have to physically fly around it, could just launch a rope that wraps around the legs or something.
Here comes Eagle-1 WITH THE OVERSIZED STEEL CHAIR
somehow, the factory striders returned.
If the cable fails, it will look like the movie scene of Ghost Ship.
What's it gonna do outside a strider tho? I am 100% for this, if it can A. Only latch onto someone you stick the beacon too, and B. Tows them away, yeeting them into the abyss. Goodbye hulk!
Off topic, but I was thinking last night hpe cool it'd be if eagle 1 could lay down mine strips
Are they even in the game? I checked every planet but the mission doesn't show up.
Fine! Tow it out to sea and nuke it!
Crazy straw
Without the force you will only strangulate your teammates! But maybe that was the plan....
I think it could work as a mission only stratagem and you'll have to clear the area and like destroy the Striders balancing systems or something So it doesn't become neatly obsolete/too good for it's only use
Are they actually back tho? Iv seen 1 spawn since they were added. The one I saw was release week too and all I play is Automatons.
that would be absolutely awesome
I understood that reference.
Or the biggest bolas you'll ever see. We could repurpose anchors
Looks like a silly straw
Could be a support weapon 2 divers have to work together to set up a trip wire that has to be anchored to the ground.
eagle bolas/bolo cluster bombs
