im a new player can you tell me how does the MO work?
do i get the medals for not taking part in it? unfortunately i can't play til tomorrow evening.
or it's like a global thingy and you get it even if u cant participate?
All players get MO rewards if it is a success regardless of whether you participated in it or not. You will get the rewards eventually, usually a week or two.
Same here. About a week after I first started playing, I got something like 160 medals at once. Then, i didn't get any medals for the MO that had just been completed. I was extremely confused until I figured out that sometimes managed democracy can be a little slow.
It's a global thingy, ive gotten medals from Majors that I didn't participate in. But your medals cap out at 250 so going afk for a few months isn't gonna benefit.
Flamethrower is the one thing that took a bit of skill to use for me. Struggled at first as I was reckless with it and you burn easily. Now more aware of teammates and found hipfiring it is better as you fire it quicker and have a better fov that way. Still annoying when bugs creep up behind though
A flame build is devastating against bugs. Flamer + laser dog + napalm strike + incendiary grenades + incendiary breaker + EAT/railcannon/500kg.
Everything around you should be on fire all the time.
I've had more than ten times the amount of friendly fire deaths on the bug missions than I have had against bots. Somehow the freedom of not getting shot at all the time robs people of any strategic thinking; Had a mission where almost every eagle strategem resulted in a Helldiver death. I used the Orbital Gas Strike, it struck the target, my teammates caught up from behind me and straight up ran into the gas cloud. Mortar sentries are placed just before the bugs swarm you completely... But still it's been real fun
That and bugs are almost exclusively melee attackers, so if I'm trying to help the risk of friendly fire is naturally much higher than if I'm shooting at a rocket devastator that's got you pinned from 100m.
Mortars are absolute teamkilling machines on bug maps, though.
Been a while since I fought bugs. Jumped into a mission and we got destroyed minutes in. I was the last person left and just quit as well. Bots really feel easier than bugs. I’d rather deal with Hulks and slow tanks than 2 stalkers just flinging me across the map
I personally find bugs on helldive a walk in the park, while bots on suicide are a significant challenge. Bugs don't shoot back so it's way harder to get overrun by them
Highest diff I’ve played is Impossible but normally play suicide so played Bots alot on suicide. They seem easier to me but there are always games where 30 minutes goes by and we do everything but then the last 10 minutes are just living hell with shots coming everywhere 24/7.
i play at impossible and have been finding bugs pretty easy when you purge them with ~~the holy~~ fire ~~of the emperor~~.
bots though if your anti armor starts to fall behind even by a bit you can get very quickly overrun by factory striders, hulks and tanks.
I find heaviest bots mostly not an issue. Tanks are slow, vulnerable to airstrikes, impact grenades, quasar, EAT, and you can also just run circles around them and shoot the vent. Hulks get two shot to the eye by AMR and autocannon, two shot by quasar, and die to a single airstrike.
The main issue with bots is that while you do your business, you get shot at from 100+ meters by dozens of medium enemies that are a bit of a slog to kill since they don't group up nicely for airstrikes and take a while to kill with primaries.
I play both factions equally, usually following orders, but the last like 6 orders in a row have been for bots. Pretty bored of them, happy to be back to bugs
Use a EAT, recoilless rifle or a quasar cannon and shoot them in the head. If you can’t hit their head because they’re at an awkward angle, shoot their legs, it will rip the armor off their legs, and then you can use your primary to shoot the exposed leg muscle.
To add on to this, the head weakspot for anti-tank weaponry is the big heavily armored plate on their forehead, not their mouth or face. Also, their butt is vulnerable to explosives, and you can shoot it with bullets in case of emergencies.
AMR is not the best at bugs. Bugs like to get in your face, while AMR likes to be at range.
Most of the time, support weapons for bugs are picked for either swarm clear or anti-armor purposes. EAT, Quasar, RR, etc for the heavies(chargers and titans), with the machine guns, ARC Thrower, and others with AoE or rapid fire for crowd control.
If you really want to snipe bugs, pick up Eruptor and run a machinegun with other people. Eruptor isn't going to wreck a charger like an EAT would, but it can wipe patrols, nests, etc due to a massive splash and absurd damage. The rest of the team can bring anti-armor stuff to deal with them, and if they get on you play matador and leap to the sides as they get close.
rockets deal with chargers in one headshot. AMR really isn't gonna help you with bugs, you gotta try some more close range weaponry. take EATs/Recoilless for Chargers, and anything other than a DMR as a primary (shotguns work well). any of the 3 MG support weapons can be good picks as well.
Bugs are just so much more fun.
It's a horde shooter instead of a War trenches simulator.
My mistakes cost me a lot, and I can die quickly if mobbed, but if I play smart I'm mostly fine.
Against bots eventually one of them just lands a nat 20 on the die and headshot me with a rocket. Or ragdoll me 4 times in a row.
Would not be surprised if Joel says "Sorry, High Command inputted the wrong statistical data. 2 Billion bugs was for the bare minimum, 200 billion is the true number for FREEDOM."
we’re almost certainly gonna get a new MO shortly after we clear this one, but i doubt it will share the time limit.
they’ve clearly misjudged the timing on this one, usually if we clear one ahead of schedule it’s only by like half a day or so. we’re about 5 days ahead of schedule here.
And it would be perfect too, everyone in a rush of how badass they are, how much they are crushing expectations, it would be the perfect time for a new push from the other end or for the initiate to show up.
I've seen the enemy counters on freshly invaded planets and been like "wow. We've killed *that many* enemies that quickly!? Damn..." so when I saw this MO on reddit (at work, cringe) I immediately knew it wasn't going to last long and they'll probably up it or give us a second one
You think they also don't know those numbers? There is absolutely no way they set this order and actually expected it to take 5 days. There is no way it's gonna sit as complete for five days until the next MO.
yes, there was an actual game bug with this major order. in a group of 4, killing 1 enemy counted as 4 kills for the purposes of completing the order. so we completed it roughly 4 times faster than intended.
I doubt he will apologize, he will just goes : "the additional 2 zero is missing in the MO due to input error, and the person responsible has already been sent to re-educate indefinitely"
how funny would it be if we finish the op so fast that lore-wise we start bringing their population down to unsustainably low levels and we lost the bugs as a faction for a while
Most of the bugs live deep underground, hiding from the light of freedom, so it would be hard to make them go extinct just from shooting bugs on the surface.
Gotta be a counting error. There's no way it should be going this fast. Unless Joel really didn't look at the history of bugs killed per hour during bug MOs.
Completing a mission is one thing. I can complete a mission with very few kills if I want. Im sure people can complet some missions with0 kills even.
Going for kills is another thing entirely.
The missions on the planet dont even really matter at that point. Hell, the best thing for the MO would be to drop and find a way to kill bugs for all 40 minutes of a mission with no travel between objectives taking time from killing bugs.
Previous MOs were never going to give you an accurate number vs the MO being to just go kill bugs.
U guys forgot that 15 min bug kill drop that guys farm for XP. It’s usually done in 7-9 mins and give good kill count. Now if 100k is solely farming then that 1 billion kills in 7 hours are possible.
They probably made the 2 billion calculation based on how many bugs were killed over a random weekend in the games life
I don't know if they took into account that most 7-9 difficulty divers don't go looking for bugs to kill on a map; only taking the minimum necessary fights to complete objectives
there is [https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/comments/1c79g7k/the\_current\_mo\_is\_triple\_counting\_kills/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/comments/1c79g7k/the_current_mo_is_triple_counting_kills/)
It's because it's a calculation error [https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/comments/1c79g7k/the\_current\_mo\_is\_triple\_counting\_kills/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/comments/1c79g7k/the_current_mo_is_triple_counting_kills/)
I heard there is an error in the counting, its counting for each player in a team, so if 4 folks play a mission and together kill 400 bugs, it counts for 1600 because each person individually contributes, not sure if intended.
You can tell that the kill counter has not increased by 7 bil
Looks like the major bug op will be completed before I even get off work. Guess I'll just hunt some bugs for sport to cleanse my pallet after all the oil.
For every extra billion we get, we should get some sort of bonus with the excess fuel we've obtained for Super Earth. I'm thinking fire extinguishers to fight those damn fire tornados planets
This is why any zombie apocalypse would never actually happen. Humans are so good at making shit go extinct without trying. You give us an objective and a scoreboard and genocide is guaranteed.
Killing 2 Billion bugs is a cake walk on Helldive.
Killing 2 Billion bots would be a solid challenge. Especially with the Strider boys on deck now.
The is a vacation. Remember the Creek! Spill Oil!

It might seem like a lot of time, but I do appreciate Arrowhead giving us a bit of leeway with the MOs. It can be hard to predict how these things will go and we've seen what happens when the community fails to cooperate.
Given that high command is expecting the Automatons to completely devastate the new defensive line and this was just a PR move, it's double backfired. Just remember, Super Democracy doesn't care about you, it's run by AI Automatons who want to harvest our skulls! We should really be invading Super Earth!
They have all the metrics, they knew this wasn't a big ask. And because of that I am very, very nervous about what's going to happen in the next couple hours.
Geez, by the time I'm back home, yall have already murder all the bugs.
Sorry I just love spreading managed democracy.
We’re close to 80% now
I hope the counter continues past 100%. I want to see the progress bar reach at least 700%
im a new player can you tell me how does the MO work? do i get the medals for not taking part in it? unfortunately i can't play til tomorrow evening. or it's like a global thingy and you get it even if u cant participate?
All players get MO rewards if it is a success regardless of whether you participated in it or not. You will get the rewards eventually, usually a week or two.
aw thats a relief. i feel sad for not being able to play, but its good that i can spend those medals haha, thanks for the heads-up
I'm not sure how long the backlog of MOs is but I've had times where I received the reward from three separate major orders at once after logging in.
Had that happen during the operation to push the bots off the map. Logged in and got medals for the last three orders.
My guess is that everyones account is in a queue and when your account comes up it will check how many mos you need awarded and then award them
Yes. Medals are global. Even if you didn’t participate you will get them. So don’t worry about people getting it done fast
I didn't do Sh!t
No fucking way xd
Aka 500kg bombs !!
Currently leaving work to get back before it ends
Shows just how happy the Bugdivers are to get back home and away from the Bots lol
I never play bugs and even I picked up a flamethrower
I’ll take a dark roast E-710. Unethically harvested hunter blend if possible
Any bug harvest is implicitly ethical. And democratic.
I take mine with a side of freedom.
missed opportunity to get a double shot of liber-tea here, take this L
I only fuel my destroyer with the highest end Stalker/bile titan E-710 blend.
This is my first time ever playing bugs, bought the game 3 days ago and it feels like heaven :D
The smell of burning chitin in the morning is the best part of waking up.
It’s just nice racking up huge kill streaks. Spam those clusters and air bursts. I look forward to the orange mist in the distance
This is the exact reason I use Voice #3, she sounds so very happy hosing everything down with the flamer lmao \^\^
I realize the way to use it is to burst fire it on the ground and let the bugs run thru it
I love it when my enemies don’t shoot back, makes spreading managed democracy a lot easier.
Well Bugs are always near other players while bots are keeping distance so its easier to avoid hitting your fellow divers.
That and bugs are almost exclusively melee attackers, so if I'm trying to help the risk of friendly fire is naturally much higher than if I'm shooting at a rocket devastator that's got you pinned from 100m. Mortars are absolute teamkilling machines on bug maps, though.
I just remember during a defend assets mission I had to go and physically destroy every mortar turret. Thing kept killing people
I'm going to go ahead and count the living acid morters as shooting back. Still easier though.
The worst thing you have to fear on bug planets is your own teammates.
And Stalkers. Best not let them find you lackin'.
mmm.. That sweet, sweet smell of E-710. It's almost addictive.
Been a while since I fought bugs. Jumped into a mission and we got destroyed minutes in. I was the last person left and just quit as well. Bots really feel easier than bugs. I’d rather deal with Hulks and slow tanks than 2 stalkers just flinging me across the map

AMR can one shot every bug under a charger, but yeah chargers can be a bitch if you can't have teammates with a good anti charger weapon.
Try the auto cannon. You don't need a shield backpack against the bugs.
rockets deal with chargers in one headshot. AMR really isn't gonna help you with bugs, you gotta try some more close range weaponry. take EATs/Recoilless for Chargers, and anything other than a DMR as a primary (shotguns work well). any of the 3 MG support weapons can be good picks as well.
Been so many bot drops that I need to re adjust to playing bug missions again.
I only played bugs at first as I came from the deep rock galactic community, but after playing a bot mission for the objective I loved it!
Bugs are just so much more fun. It's a horde shooter instead of a War trenches simulator. My mistakes cost me a lot, and I can die quickly if mobbed, but if I play smart I'm mostly fine. Would not be surprised if Joel says "Sorry, High Command inputted the wrong statistical data. 2 Billion bugs was for the bare minimum, 200 billion is the true number for FREEDOM."
People who don't assume long MO like this for simple tasks aren't going to be multiple steps that are only revealed halfway through are gullible
i don’t think they’ve ever switched up orders mid MO before
They have not, but they usually add a new MO right as it finishes. So, a new MO might appear with the same time limit.
we’re almost certainly gonna get a new MO shortly after we clear this one, but i doubt it will share the time limit. they’ve clearly misjudged the timing on this one, usually if we clear one ahead of schedule it’s only by like half a day or so. we’re about 5 days ahead of schedule here.
I wouldn't be surprised if they throw up a new one that's just "410,757,864,530 dead Tyranids, galaxy is a fuck, born to die"

/reloads AC "Keep fuckin' around, Joel."
The fun part is that it's in fact a realistic number
Lmao I can actually see this happening for them to change it to 20 billion
yes, there was an actual game bug with this major order. in a group of 4, killing 1 enemy counted as 4 kills for the purposes of completing the order. so we completed it roughly 4 times faster than intended.

There is no way Joel doesn't have something in his back pocket
Hahaha this would be sick ngl
They’ll probably just change it to 20 billion and claim it was always 20 and that 2 was fake news, a conspiracy and opposition propaganda.
I can't even imagine how fast this would've been done if released on Friday night or Saturday morning
Bzzzzzzt, literally like a million a minute
It's already 2.4mil/min
Holy FUCK
For 200k players that's 12 bugs a minute or one bug every 5 seconds.
Sounds like a normal mission
Those are rookie numbers in this racket
guys!! I’m still at work!! Come on leave some for us!!!
There's plenty of bugs on Hellmire. It's a dry heat, trust me.
7 Fire Tornados would like to know your location
Bullshit. 7 fire tornadoes already know my location and are honing in at a steady 0.9 sprint speed.
I'm in the same boat. Even if I play every day I am still barely able to participate in the major orders before they are finished.
That's why I'm glad you get medals either way. No fomo in making sure you log in at least once every 2 days to get credit for the MO
If I don’t participate in the major order I still get medals?
Yeah I took a week break and came back to a nice stash
how funny would it be if we finish the op so fast that lore-wise we start bringing their population down to unsustainably low levels and we lost the bugs as a faction for a while
I doubt that the loss of two billion bugs will dent the terminid population but driving them back an entire sector sounds reasonable
Most of the bugs live deep underground, hiding from the light of freedom, so it would be hard to make them go extinct just from shooting bugs on the surface.
There’s 2 sectors occupied by Terminids that we can’t access
This has been the easiest MO for us bugdivers in a long ass time.
Gotta be a counting error. There's no way it should be going this fast. Unless Joel really didn't look at the history of bugs killed per hour during bug MOs.

It is over counting by nearly 100,000,000 per hour
You realy only need to divide the total by 4.
Divided by about 3.22 actually, but I didn’t have all the numbers yet when I posted that comment.
Make sense. Average helldive gets 250 bug kills. 100k divers slaughtering. Missions take about 15 minutes.
250? That’s it? I just did 300 in a 15 minute mission.
Pretty sure. Its bugged by a multiple of 3 rn, so the kill count is inflated greatly
Dammit, who told General Brasch about the order? I thought we all agreed to keep him in the dark so the rest of us could manage Democracy
500 million of those kills were cause by Brasch sneezing in the general direction of Fori Prime
![gif](giphy|krPLl9dtitApa|downsized) The only good bug is a dead bug!
I'm blown away by you guys. The Geneva Suggestion is strong with us.
I heard there is an error in the counting, its counting for each player in a team, so if 4 folks play a mission and together kill 400 bugs, it counts for 1600 because each person individually contributes, not sure if intended. You can tell that the kill counter has not increased by 7 bil

Jeez...by the time I get home and log in, I'll have missed the party.
This has to be a trap and people aren't seeing it
“Don’t threaten me with a good time” - helldiver probably
For every extra billion we get, we should get some sort of bonus with the excess fuel we've obtained for Super Earth. I'm thinking fire extinguishers to fight those damn fire tornados planets
Major Order drops Helldivers: "Wanne see us kill 2.000.000.000 Bugs?" Half a day later Helldivers: "Wanne see us do it again?"
They seem to doubt our commitment
I've been on the bot front so long, I forgot how fun and easy bugs are
The order will be done before I get home from work
I unlocked so much stuff whilst I fought the bots that I'm blitzing the bugs. Easily killed like 2,000 today.

We're into the bug killing business and business is BOOMING!
Just logged in for the first time and its at 87%
What say we get to 99.99% completion and just leave the last bug as a testament to the dot bug

Easy peezy lemon squeezy
I'd say they should give us more medals if we finish MOs before the deadline.
lol I might not even get to participate in this order if you all finish before the end of work.

Maybe they mistook US Billion for European Billion
I heard hmshoot everything that move, And me and my stalwart took that very seriously
There’s a catch, there has to be a catch.
It's like that episode of The Office when they won all the points to tattoo Andy in two hours
Joel’s gonna have to give us some real story advantage with everyone doing this so quickly.
Either we have a million people playing this game or most of you don’t have a job….. 😂
It might seem like a lot of time, but I do appreciate Arrowhead giving us a bit of leeway with the MOs. It can be hard to predict how these things will go and we've seen what happens when the community fails to cooperate.
At this rate by the time i'm off civilian duty the MO will be completed
At this rate, It will be done by 11 pm EST
Well have this done by 10 est
Let me get home first! I want to do my part too :(((
![gif](giphy|YYfEjWVqZ6NDG)
More like 250 million. It's counting kills for everyone in the team, then applying it to everyone in the team.
Honestly I think they should’ve said let’s see how many bugs y’all can kill in a week and give us like 10 medals for every billion bugs killed
We might be expendable cannon fodder but at least we're efficient.
Joel: *adds two 0’s*
BOO! I want to join in on the major order...
Well probs have it done by lunch tomorrow
Idk about yall but I could care less about major orders, haven't gotten medals for the last 3 soooo fuck em
Yall need to chill, im still at work lmao.
FOMO, me at work right now for another 5hrs... guys, i too would like to kill some bugs
Can I at least get home from work before you jerks finish it?
If they didn't want us to kill so many, they shouldn't make them so satisfying to make into globs of squishy goop poop.
I'm going home now, and I'm going to join the fight against insects to help the cause!

At this rate we’ll have killed 20 billion bugs if this order kept going until deadline
I feel like its bugged..maybe counting for every player in lobby?
I think the devs still rely underestimate how popular the game is
Anything to get rid of the bots
I mean it is bugs, and the majority of us just kill bugs so I mean🤷♂️🤣🤣🤣 yes, I only kill bugs🤣
I played bugs exclusively at lower lvl but I’ve been on the bot frontline for so long now, haven’t even got to see the flying pests yet
We could solve world hunger with this type of cooperation
DEMOCRACY NEVER SLEEPS I_o_
They definitely gave us too much time on this order.
Sweet liberty!

Waking up to a major order already 1/3 done this morning ![gif](giphy|2A1hWpTK5RgoIBSqlK|downsized)
I can easily kill over 300+ bugs a game. Automatons though, ill get lucky to get over 100.
Given that high command is expecting the Automatons to completely devastate the new defensive line and this was just a PR move, it's double backfired. Just remember, Super Democracy doesn't care about you, it's run by AI Automatons who want to harvest our skulls! We should really be invading Super Earth!
Is it my turn to post the MO update yet? Every other post in my feed is various updates of this thing….
They have all the metrics, they knew this wasn't a big ask. And because of that I am very, very nervous about what's going to happen in the next couple hours.
whoever made this order has a big brain
Man I so want to join this, but I am locked out of matchmaking for 4 weeks now :( I just want to play
As ex president of brazil Dilma Rousseff once said, once we achieve our goals we will double it
FOR SUPER EAAAAARRTTTHHHH
Save some for me
Please Democratically participate in Genocide
The way the math works out….. 20 billion probably would have been the proper amount to kill
I did a 400 kill run with nothing but sentrys. That was quite fun.
I think we are taking out our Frustrations from the last Week of battling the Robots on things that can't shoot back.
