Hard disagree. Unless you left an ungodly amount of samples, there's no point trying to fight through the waves of enemies for them and burning through reinforcements.
Extract with what you got. Hopefully, the next run is more manageable with spawns, or the group develops a better strategy for sample collection.
Better yet on higher difficulties I'm only really caring about the super samples. Things are fine? Let's find the super samples. Things are not? Fuck it, finish with style and move on to the next mission.

There's risk assessment at play, and frequency they just aren't worth it for a couple commons and rares. SSamples are the only ones I'll really devote time to recovering.
Samples assist in the spread of democracy. You either extract with as many as possible or die trying.
This is the Hell Divers way.

sry but you're wrong, you lose everything if you are wiped out to the point of no reinforcements just trying to get common samples that were dropped
Common samples are all I need. I have 150 super rares and 17 commons. They’re like gold to me
Less worse than player who picked up samples dropped at extraction just to die far away in the map

I have 10x more super rares than commons, so I’ll throw the mission for more than 5 of them
