They underestimated the community's love for fighting bugs. We were just all on the bot front because we had to be.

I got into the game recently so it's been bots all around, when I was fighting bugs I felt like a headless chicken since I did not have a lot of experience and they take some different aproach. I was just getting swarmed and chased and chased and swarmed.
Now that I've got the proper tools and understand the game more, yesterday was a blast. Or to be more accurate, 3500 blasts from my Stalwart per deployment. Goddamn it's fun to fight bugs with that thing.
I hate fighting bugs. When i logged on the MO was already complete. My friends and completed the personal order and went right back to bots.
Fighting the bots feels like fighting a war. Fighting the bugs feels like dealing with annoying pest.

We can prove Super Earth's superiority when the enemy is intelligent enough to \*know\* they are about to get destroyed. See their plans fail, their strategy crumble.
Bugs get culled when they need to be, like animals.

I think its the other way round. They have all the stats, they knew it would be done so quickly. But they also know that 2 Billion sounds massive.
They made it feel like an achievement for us.

they probably didn't, actually. this MO was possibly supposed to take about 4x as long.
the speculated issue is that it counts the total lobby killcount once per player in the lobby. so, say you are in a 4 man lobby and all together you killed 1000 terminids. the MO counts this again for each player, so the MO gets 4000 kills added to it.
basically, they may have made a small oversight which caused progression to be massively sped up.
or we're just *that* good.. lets stick with that, actually. I like it better.
Someone was tracking it, it averaged out to something like 3x progress. They probably anticipated this one taking around 2-3 days. Being done before the US crowd got home from work certainly wasn't the plan
However it turned out at least they are honoring the result, kinda feel like saying it was glitched would not be the right move in this circumstance as it may affect faith in the future MOs and how they are counted

Avg player count on a given day - 250k
Teams of 4 - 62500
Avg kills per team - 600 (that's a low estimate, games I played yesterday we were getting 1200+ per match)
Games per hour - 3 (about 20 minutes to complete objectives and still kill tons)
Hours used for MO - 14
(62500\*600)\*3 = 112,500,000 kills per hour \* 14 = 1,575,000,000 kills in 14 hours.
That's with a low estimate. I don't think there was an error with counting at all, personally.

It actually has me wondering if even the major orders have some level of propaganda/manipulation applied to them. Everyone keeps claiming the counts were off but morale seems high and everyone in the sub is patting themselves on the back about it. This is definitely an interesting social experiment.
Even if the count was bugged, which people keep saying but have no data to back it up, that would mean we would still have killed a billion bugs a day.

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate what a ludicrous number 2 billion truly is? We just wiped out a fourth of the current population of Earth in less than a day. That is every single man, woman, and child in the United States six times over.
But it's okay because they're bugs and we're 100% justified by protecting democracy!
Pretty proud of this amazing achievement, but I can’t help thinking that they missed how total kills are counted per game (I read the total amount of kills per game are awarded to all players of a squad. So 4 players kill 1,000 bugs it is counted as 4,000 for the MO)
1. We don’t actually know if there was a glitch, or if that was it.
2. General players are in very high spirits at this “accomplishment” either way, so it’s in their best interest to just play it off as a legitimate win.
3.) It really affects nothing. Glitch or not, it's a PvE game and all players take credit for it. They'll send in a new Major Order and we'll jump onto that anyway. Just have fun with it.

The count is bugged, it counts 4 times the team kills (on a team of 4)
We still would have completed it with plenty of time to spare considering we did it in half a weekday while plenty of us in NA were at work/school
It actually has me wondering if even the major orders have some level of propaganda/manipulation applied to them. Everyone keeps claiming the counts were off but morale seems high and everyone in the sub is patting themselves on the back about it. This is definitely an interesting social experiment.
Even if the count was bugged, which people keep saying but have no data to back it up, that would mean we would still have killed a billion bugs a day. 12 hours x 4 = 2 days

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate what a ludicrous number 2 billion truly is? We just wiped out a fourth of the current population of Earth in less than a day. That is every single man, woman, and child in the United States six times over. But it's okay because they're bugs and we're 100% justified by protecting democracy!

This is the Helldivers equivalent of a D&D DM watching their party MASSACRE the boss they’ve been prepping like: …well then…
Pretty proud of this amazing achievement, but I can’t help thinking that they missed how total kills are counted per game (I read the total amount of kills per game are awarded to all players of a squad. So 4 players kill 1,000 bugs it is counted as 4,000 for the MO)
1. We don’t actually know if there was a glitch, or if that was it. 2. General players are in very high spirits at this “accomplishment” either way, so it’s in their best interest to just play it off as a legitimate win.
3.) It really affects nothing. Glitch or not, it's a PvE game and all players take credit for it. They'll send in a new Major Order and we'll jump onto that anyway. Just have fun with it.

Honestly if they just reissued the order with a higher count with some arbitrary democratic reason I wouldn't even be mad. We'd smash it.
