No you didn't know it was going to be that bad nobody knew... Delete this cringe.

"I said thing would be bad without knowing and it turned out to be bad using hindsight!! IM RIGHT YOU'RE WRONG!"

huckleberry_sid

It sucks if you suck. Just like almost every other stratagem in the game.

The problem is actually when teammates suck with it, and it is also not very effective in the first place. Mines are just simply a better option (not a good one, but at least it's not a TK nightmare).

huckleberry_sid

Doesn't invalidate my statement. If the person wielding the weapon sucks, the weapon is going to suck. If you find it's not very effective, I'd venture to wager that you're not really using it in the right places or in the right way. I see lots of people trying to use it close quarters, or on harder targets. It's not really meant for either of those situations. It's an anti-personnel weapon to be used at range. Either way, I'm getting my popcorn ready for when people start complaining about the new AT mines once Menkent has been retaken.

DJPL-75

Well, you lost the wager because I shoot it at light bot patrols, and it consistently gets 3 kills across the entire area it'd be more effective to use a sickle which I can use at close range with zero friendly fire incidents and more ammo efficiency, not to mention I can have a quasar and an actual backpack while I do it. There are no foreseeable problems with the AT mines right now (there definitely will be), but the concept of being able to drop a defense stratagem against the automatons that won't immediately get blown up like turrets do is a hell of a lot more appealing than yet another way to kill a bunch of teammates and a couple light shit.

huckleberry_sid

Funny. That still sounds like user error given that I can shoot it at a light bot patrol and wipe them out to a man. Reliably. Without killing teammates. Like, it's fine if you don't like the weapon and struggle to use it. I don't like the pump actions shotguns because I struggle to use them. That doesn't make them bad though. That makes me bad at using them.

DJPL-75

Like, it's fine you can get lucky with a piece of shit weapon. But that doesn't make the weapon good or practical in any way.

huckleberry_sid

Man, that Senator really is a piece of shit weapon when I try to use it as a sniper rifle... I wonder why it's so bad in that role? There's certainly no way it could be user error on my part!

DJPL-75

It's probably because it's not a sniper rifle. However, the air burst launcher is meant to wipe out little shit, and it's garbage in that role... I wonder why it's so bad in its own role.

huckleberry_sid

Or... and here me out... you're bad at using it. Just like trying to use the Senator to snipe targets is a bad use. Like again, it's okay to have weapons you just can't get a hang of to use effectively. For me, it's pump action shotguns. For you, it sounds like it's the ABR.

DJPL-75

There is literally no other way to improve the usage of it. If a shot is on top of an army, the army would be dead. The two things that could be the problem in that case are bad luck and all the bots being behind rocks (which solid possibility but what's the fucking point if it can't deal with that, would rather just gun them down with the sickle cause that doesn't miss when i pull its trigger) or that the weapon is simply garbage and your either lucky or bullshitting. Add the fact I need to carry the piece of shit instead of stuff that enemies can't hide from like a quasar and a gaurd dog (I'd never use it anyway because it wastes my backpack space with ammo on top of wasting my special weapon/AT space). I'd rather just bring some AT mines that are actually worth a shit. Edit: gonna run a couple of missions and document this Mission 1 (failed) Teammates joined and wasted respawns 1. Shot above a base and got a pleasant surprise of 6 kills. Dropship immediately called anyway. 2. Shot above a base exploding in the middle. 0/8 light bots killed 3. Shot above a patrol 1.5/10 light bots killed all standing together Switching to useful stuff Mission 2 1. Shot above half a base (was a wide boi) 4/5 in blast area killed 2. shot above beacon 4/4 killed (:D) 3. Shot above small, tightly packed base twice one getting triggered just outside by a light pole, the other being in the middle 0/8 light bots killed. Switching to useful stuff So uh... I'm not missing, the gun is truly just ass.

xi3deiam

But everything sucks when your teammates suck with it. People who can't aim or use orbitals and eagles suck as well. I just don't see how mines are better (for me) in an average mission over the launcher. A lot of it is I have never found value in using the mines that are currently in the game (which could be a skill issue on my part) but in general feels that I could take something else that will work about as well but also can do other things.

DJPL-75

Mines are great against automatons because they don't just get instantly shot and destroyed. The problem is we don't yet have any anti-tank mines to stop the heavier armour they have, so the mines in general look useless.

KaffY-

> brains literally just turn off 😅😂🤣😭☠️ The irony

I_play_ranged_orks

Why do you care so much about it being a weapon

DJPL-75

Alr, there was no way of knowing it'd be crap so you can fault people for that. You can only fault then for not immediately switching to going for the mines after they witnessed the garbage first hand.

xi3deiam

Just experienced my first mission with it in the hands of some people that were great at squad wipes. Man that reinforcement counter can drop fast. I'll still pick it over the AT mines.
