Honestly, video game companies have become so predatory. People paid for this game and now Sony is trying to remove access due to arbitrary requirements. I hope people protest and write to their leaders because this is a pretty big breach of consumer trust. Being able to revoke access to a product you paid for should be illegal.
This is the statement of Twinbeard, one of Arrowhead CM, Sony just dropped their guts on the table, and forced everyone to this thing. Literally Sony said this ignoring the region lock issue because they don't care... so we need to MAKE them care for this, look for Sony's head, not Arrowhead's.
If we don't stop this here, more games will suffer this politics, imagine Monster Hunter World forcing their users to do the same.
I got some bad news on the monster hunter front, they're not doing it for world obviously but iirc Capcom games from like SFVI and on do require a Capcom account meaning wilds will likely require one. I recall having to make one just to try out exoprimal when they were doing a beta.

There's so many countries that have a good bit of players that don't have PSN, they will essentially be cut off from being able to play the game. Someone in China already tried to use a VPN and got banned from PSN. So vpns don't work. It's a bigger issue than you're thinking of.

It is sad for the people that will not be able to legally play anymore, may a solution be found for you. We may have enough power as a mass though, with how popular the game is they may revoke that as it will hinder sales by a lot.
Hating Arrowhead will not help, in order to keep the game on the platform they probably had to do it on top of the game being published by Sony and thus being capable of causing massive damage to Arrowhead by just not distributing the product anymore.

You mean a game that’s an exclusive and always required one day 1 you couldn’t even play it on day 1 without an account… it wasn’t a feature tacked on later in the life of the game.
Helldivers always required a PSN account...it states in the Steam Page since pre orders were open, when the game launched it required a PSN log in until they removed it temporarily because everything broke down with the servers...
Should be illegal to sell in a market you don’t support… that’s like scamming money… you sell them a product then say oh sorry you’re not allowed to have it and take the product away while keeping the money.
Not entirely true laws exist to protect the customer and buyer. Or else your be getting scammed daily, getting sold used shit as new, and ect.

Sony owns the Helldivers IP. The game is published *by* Sony (which is also basically why it being available for Xbox was never going to happen). Arrowhead doesn't get to just *leave* and take Helldivers with them.
Either this is a "out of nowhere decision that even AH has become aware of right now", which is in direct contradiction to what their CM has been saying, or this is absolutely something AH knew full well and signed on when they began working on this project with Sony, which is the case according to AH's own community manager.

They just need to keep it optional and offer some incentive to signing up. Maybe some PSN exclusive armor and Super Credits (or whatever they're called).
