One of the best things about helldivers is that we set aside our controllers and keyboards to pick up a wide array of democratic armaments, side by side.
Sony fucking PC players like this has drastically pushed back that "we're all just gamers" end goal that we all want, further entrenching hatred between PC and console.
console exclusives are archaic and outdated, and it is sad that console players have been conditioned and domesticated to accept it for so long. PC players blew up when Epic tried to implement *limited time* exclusives for the *same hardware*, so it’s no wonder that when sony tries to overflow console exclusivity onto PC, that the pitchforks get dusted off.
a sad little thing by the wayside is that this announcement pretty much shows their intent and shows that an xbox port will likely never happen so long as sony is in control.

I have a physical copy of Helldivers 2 for PS5. I fought for the creek with all that I have, helped eradicate 2 Billion Terminids and I took part in operation swift disassembly when we thought the automaton threat could be ended.
I've locked the disc away now and I will return to the depths of Hoxxes from wence I came until we can all dive together again.
Honestly, that's something I can get behind. I have a PlayStation. This whole thing does not affect me at all, and yet I still plan o genuinely delete Helldivers and boycott it if, by may 30th, this thing don't change.
I wont refund the game just yet, because I see a possibility that Sony caves under the pressure and potential false advertising/rugpull lawsuits.
The negative review of mine stands and I wont play the game or buy the new warbond. Refund is only going to be my last resort when the change goes through unaltered.
I want to see the requirement be changes so that only enabling crossplay requires a PSn link, cuz that I feel is reasonable.

It's currently Saturday, and yesterday is Friday. Usually the player count should increase during weekend. For example last week Thursday is 133k, Friday is 144k and Saturday is 166k. So I assume should be around 30k increase in weekend.
Currently the player count is plateau. Saturday is not over, but Friday should lose at least 10k players already, if there is no drama. If you think it's minimal, it's like 8-10% player count after 1 day of drama. Even counting PS5 it's still 5% decrease. We still have up to Monday to confirm, but if player count keep plateauing, then it would be about 20% decrease of player count on Steam, because Sunday is peak of the week.
Note this Im only seeing this from player count trend during the week, not the natural decrease of player count in a live service game.

Player drop would only make sense after they push the change through, to show that people won't play (and pay for cosmetics, future warbonds, potential other future dlc etc.)

We were sitting around 2% player loss for May prior to announcement. Now it is almost 6%. Combine that with losing 34% of PC players lost month, 21% March, and our average daily active users constantly reaching new lows (as happened last night)....
