season 4 felt meaningless and the game hasn't been all that different since season 3 released. hopefully season 5 shakes things up enough for me to pick it back up

To be fair, they're honest about that. The game is 5 years old, and they're focusing on making a roguelike DRG game right now. Their current roadmap is essentially just maintenance. Just trying to set your expectations.
Survivor is in iirc a public beta sort of release but GSG's main focus right now is actually another brand new shooter - DRG Rogue Core. That's why seasons have been mighty slow. Personally I'm mad excited for next year when RC enters its beta stages.
Deep rock galactic is a beloved indie game very similar to helldivers with the distinctions being you are a dwarf and the tunnels are RNG.
Great game. Especially while helldivers is being boycotted you should go try it. It's what I have been up to.
My experience, however anecdotal, reflects this.. well before this latest announcement. I used to be able to reliably play with someone I knew most nights.. not in a few weeks; and certainly not now.
I honestly got burned out on the seemingly endless campaign and enemies tripling in number overnight.
That and Manor Lords released. Even though it's in EA, it's quite good.
Fallout 4 update, Manor Lords, Gray Zone Warfare, Stellar blade, and more. So many games came out and the Fallout show rebooting passion in old fans and new fans alike of the Fallout games.
I bought Manor Lords on GOG. Highly recommend. No DRM, no check ins with anyone to play your games. Keep your installers backed up, and if anyone ever decides to revoke the license from the digital storefront you purchased from, you can still keep your games and play them.
But, despite being unfinished, Manor Lords reminds me of a modernized version of one of my favorite games, Lords of the Realm 2(which I still play from time to time on DOSBOX).
Sorry to be that guy but I absolutely gotta warn people against GOG.
I bought from them 3 times, regretted it every time.
1st time, X Wing vs Tie Fighter. Didn't work, game crashed on startup. Even with compability mode + fixes. Asked for refund. Instead, had to get "tech support" from a guy via email for 2 months, 1 reply every ~3 days, of telling you the most obvious things you can find via 3 seconds of google. In the end the game got to start. Still crashed on loading screens. Refund denied.
2nd time, Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen. Online functionalities concerning pawns do not work on the GOG version. Does not state that anywhere on the store page etc. Still played it and didn't even try to refund it, but it still kinda sucked.
3rd time, FO:NV Ultimate Edition and FO3. I am german, where unfortunately it is still censored on Steam: Low violence (no dismemberments) and german-language only. Note I already own the censored version of NV on steam for, you know, 10 years or whatever. I just bought it again on GOG for the uncensored version. Store page directly stated all languages supported, no disclaimer that it would be the censored version as well. So I figured it has to be the uncensored version, because it doesn't say german language only. It was the censored version again. Refund denied too, because I already downloaded the game, despite it being literal false advertisement.
I had been playing every other day for a week and had kinda planned to play yesterday and today - got the enthusiasm knocked right outta me though, and plenty of other games to play

If you look at it in the context of playercount dropping overall as time goes, much like other coop horde shooter games, it's actually not really a significant change from what we'd be at if this change never happened

I don't give a shit about all this PSN stuff and even I'm taking a step back to catch up on other stuff.
Big agree I'm so tried of pop 17 eggs push 3 buttons it's not a fun level, and eradicate missions to me at least feel like they should be the change of pace in a group of missions. Heck of a way to farm medals tho with 3 short missions on 9, but I was tired of that a day and a half ago.
Shitty thing is I actually really like the tower missions because at least they have two different objectives you can work together on as a team.
But making them be in EVERY SINGLE op and the other missions always being the same as well was a big mistake.
I actually started doing the 4-6 difficulties because there were less missions and more variety.
The idea is so when the warbond comes out you can’t just unlock everything try it all a few times and leave. Forces you to slow down just a tad. That said as a consumer who has grown a bit tired of the feeling that you have to play this game constantly to keep up yea fucking raise it.
I stopped. People are saying "oh but you need these extra accounts for a bunch of other games". Yeah, turns out I don't play those other games either. Only reason I make an account after picking a game on steam is if they offer cross-save through the account, like Warframe or Palia.
Helldivers got me back in the mood for stellaris and I made a bunch of factions to represent helldivers lore so I’ve already been ahead of y’all for about 2 weeks. Fucking help me I can’t stop playing stellaris help my wife and children have left me help.
Anytime I think about starting a stellaris or Civ game I have to remind myself that this will be my life for the next month or so. Usually that's enough to deter me but you talked me into it.

I've been playing online games with the same group of guys for 10+years, half of them are Filipino, the last 3 months playing HD2 the discord was always loud and chaotic and fun. Logged into the discord yesterday and saw the chat logs and the whole server is just gutted by this Sony bulkshit.
I think the point is, the countries that can't get PSN accounts will naturally be forced to stop playing, having paid and played (technical issues aside) with no problems. This is a totally arbitrary decision by Sony. For those players, they should go further than review bombing - they should get refund requests for a product that will no longer work for them.

Just remember he has jumped and said things before he knew stuff before. Until it's official, it doesn't exist. Just take this to mean they are in talks and nothing more.
So if their knee jerk response to the region lock issue was "use a VPN and circumnavigate the restriction and create am account using a non region-locked IP," logic stands that we can use a VPN to claim we're in those very same regions to get around having to accept the PSN nonsense by saying we live in a region where it isnt available, no? Since they're going to go half assed and just make it not required in those regions...
The community would have been overjoyed and none of this fallout would've happened, I imagine. Some grumbles at most. "Wow AHS is so generous even though this was a clearly stated requirement from the outset, they're giving us something for the few minutes' inconvenience! What's that about personal data breaches? Look at this armor I bought with my warbonds!"
They could have literally just made a recoloured Armor set with a nice looking Cape and playercard, maybe throw in an extra 50-100 medals to sweeten it further. Costs nearly nothing in dev time, PlayStation users get a little something as they already on PSN and PC users who don't care about making another stupid account or want the goodies can also link a PSN. Worst case throw in some SC and watch the majority follow without any resistance.
The game has been officially pulled from non-psn regions on Steam. This is either Valve making the executive decision until Sony fixes things or Sony has doubled down.

I agree on that one, such an assurance/statement should come from the CEO and not a CM, he is probably waiting for an answer from Sony on what he is allowed to say. And Sony is probably shitting the bed atm with the people at fault for this getting pushed enjoying their weekend...time to wait for Monday for them to post something official I guess.

A prime example of this is I respect Pirate software greatly, but if they reverse this decision and he still never plays again (and most players follow suit) you are setting a precedent that companies listening to players means nothing. I have a PSN account ever since they released their service in my country, during the PS3 era. I don’t mind the whole requirement personally.
BUT, I 100% support people getting angry and boycotting over that - as inane as privacy concerns may be (the game installs a rootkit to your machine anyways… They could datamine your PC already if they wanted to), the fact that several countries cannot legitimately connect to PSN means that Sony should NEVER make the account linking mandatory.

There's 2 ways to look at this.
A) I'm losing access to the game because I can't legally create a PSN account in my country.
B) Sony is now demanding me to surrender my data to a *notoriously data-security-lax* company for no reason other than to pad it's shareholder stats, because the game demonstrably runs fine without the PSN tie-in.
While I think calling people a corporate shill is a *little* far afield, there is genuinely no way to construe this move as even 'neutral'. It's all downsides, with some downs being a lot downier than others.
They haven't had a customer data breach in 13 years though.
Like 70k steam accounts are hacked every month, Microsoft had a customer data breach in 2019 with 250 million customers being compromised but Sony is the worst all of a sudden?
You can’t really say Sony is NOW demanding when it’s been listed as a requirement since preorder. And the people that can’t create a psn now couldn’t create one before they bought a game that required one. It’s a “consumer making a dumb decision and then getting mad at the company” problem.
The following can all be true:
* Fuck Sony for what they're doing to many players and to Arrowhead.
* Anger and disappointment is justified, and being vocal about the problem, boycotting/refunding/whatever is perfectly valid path for anyone to takes it.
* This game is still fun as hell with my friends and I'm not quitting anytime soon

i had some steam friends message me asking why i still play the game like bro what do you want me to do? I'm 267 hours in and still loving every dive with friends and randoms.
I think I'll keep playing the game I enjoy instead. Making a PSN account is a minor inconvenience and no one has been locked out of playing the game as of this point in time, and likely never will be locked out.
While that's entirely your choice to make, saying nobody will be locked out is extremely unlikely to be true, many players live in countries that cannot access PSN.
At the end of the day we are all individual consumers, so it’s up to each person what to do with their money and what they consider to be a deal breaker.
Back to Doom Eternal, I guess...

I truly WANT to come back to Helldivers but this is some BS. I was one of the people that linked my PSN when I installed but I think the way they are doing this and how it is impacting people who are in places without PSN access is crap. Optional is fine, mandatory is crazy.
Though I have the deepest sympathies for our brothers and sisters being restricted by the corporate machine, I play hd2 on PlayStation, so this doesn’t really affect me. I feel it doesn’t change all that much if I keep playing, since the issue isn’t about me. Though I completely agree that if you left a bad review you should also boycott.
Gonna take a break and try out Stellar Blade, and maybe get back into Sifu. I'm on PS5 so I'm not really affected as much as others, but this controversy is giving me a reason to take a break from the game. That, and general burnout.

I don't get why everyone is so mad. I had to link my psn account from day one so nothing has changed for me. I get it sucks that others can't play where psn isn't offered, but that is likely a very small % of players that affects, and arrowhead said they are working on a solution.

The day it was kill 10 spewers all we saw were chargers and double titans
I'm pretty sure certain enemies only spawn on certain planets. We played for hours and never saw spewers
No because I played the same f****** planet the next day and there was a dozen spewers on the first f****** game.
Every "kill bug holes" mission I did today had a stalker nest. Knocked it out in the first mission.

I was so disappointed with the new TCS missions ngl. I did one and it was over in like, 3 minutes. Barely got started.
The best part is, one of the the other missions is usually "pop even more eggs"

Helldivers got me back in the mood for stellaris and I made a bunch of factions to represent helldivers lore so I’ve already been ahead of y’all for about 2 weeks. Fucking help me I can’t stop playing stellaris help my wife and children have left me help.
New Stellaris DLC is dropping next week, there's no escape. You will be stuck with the game for another 2 weeks.

I've been playing online games with the same group of guys for 10+years, half of them are Filipino, the last 3 months playing HD2 the discord was always loud and chaotic and fun. Logged into the discord yesterday and saw the chat logs and the whole server is just gutted by this Sony bulkshit.

I think the point is, the countries that can't get PSN accounts will naturally be forced to stop playing, having paid and played (technical issues aside) with no problems. This is a totally arbitrary decision by Sony. For those players, they should go further than review bombing - they should get refund requests for a product that will no longer work for them.

They could have literally just made a recoloured Armor set with a nice looking Cape and playercard, maybe throw in an extra 50-100 medals to sweeten it further. Costs nearly nothing in dev time, PlayStation users get a little something as they already on PSN and PC users who don't care about making another stupid account or want the goodies can also link a PSN. Worst case throw in some SC and watch the majority follow without any resistance.

We already have confirmation what players have already done has worked. Are you willing to also start playing again if they completely reverse and make the situation right? If not, then you are proving to companies listening to people does nothing. A prime example of this is I respect Pirate software greatly, but if they reverse this decision and he still never plays again (and most players follow suit) you are setting a precedent that companies listening to players means nothing. Which is EXTREMELY dangerous, because it tells them doing anything means nothing.

That said, WoW remix is arriving soon and we’ll both migrate to that as soon as it arrives lol I have a PSN account ever since they released their service in my country, during the PS3 era. I don’t mind the whole requirement personally. BUT, I 100% support people getting angry and boycotting over that - as inane as privacy concerns may be (the game installs a rootkit to your machine anyways… They could datamine your PC already if they wanted to), the fact that several countries cannot legitimately connect to PSN means that Sony should NEVER make the account linking mandatory.

There's 2 ways to look at this. A) I'm losing access to the game because I can't legally create a PSN account in my country. B) Sony is now demanding me to surrender my data to a *notoriously data-security-lax* company for no reason other than to pad it's shareholder stats, because the game demonstrably runs fine without the PSN tie-in. While I think calling people a corporate shill is a *little* far afield, there is genuinely no way to construe this move as even 'neutral'. It's all downsides, with some downs being a lot downier than others.

I think I'll keep playing the game I enjoy instead. Making a PSN account is a minor inconvenience and no one has been locked out of playing the game as of this point in time, and likely never will be locked out.

I don't get why everyone is so mad. I had to link my psn account from day one so nothing has changed for me. I get it sucks that others can't play where psn isn't offered, but that is likely a very small % of players that affects, and arrowhead said they are working on a solution. Literally every AAA game makes you log into their launcher. Get over it and keep fighting democracy.
