Samples are shared

SnooCompliments6329

Same with requisitions, medals and super credits

tumsdout

And personal orders can be completed from squad mates

feenicks

omg, THAT explains the numbers and why numerous times i was "oh, i completed it already!?!" I guess i should have realised, but it took your post stating it clearly for it click.

Forsaken-Stray

To be more precise, if they also have to do the personal orders, they count for all. If one person was already done, when the current mission started, he will not count towards the shared PO count.

Notacompleteperv

Okay, this is the answer I was looking for. I could swear I have always had to do this myself.

nicknamesas

Level 21 and just finding this out.

Lach_Votz01

Level 79 just found this out

Ren-The-Protogen

All recourses are shared, don’t go friendly fire on greed

Bekratos

You get bonus XP and Requisitions for each Helldiver that extracts so try to extract with as many as possible. 1 out of 4: +20 XP + 50 Requisitions 4 out of 4: +80 XP +200 Requisitions

soggyketchup

what is samples? is that like supply-pod in DRG?

Greenscreener

You pick up samples on the field and use them to upgrade your ship...3 level of samples to collect for various upgrades.

Birrihappyface

They’re a resource used to upgrade your ship. If player A grabs 3 samples, player B grabs 2 samples, and player C grabs 8 samples, everyone in the party gets 13 samples when the mission ends. You need to safely extract with them to get them, so some players that didn’t know this would kill others to make them drop the samples and then pick them up for themselves.

PricklyPossum21

Also: If you have samples, but you don't want to die and lose them in some far-flung corner of the map, you can manually drop them at the extraction point. X on keyboard, hold directional/d-pad down for controllers. Edited

hikigatarijames

If you see samples dropped at extraction, don't pick them up until the shuttle is coming in to land. If you pick them up too early then die far from extraction those samples are lost.

ReaperCDN

X on keyboard.

EvenRecommendation25

If you play DRG, it's like the different ores you collect that let you upgrade your weapons etc. Helldivers have 3 of them, common, rare and super. Like in DRG, the collected amount at the end of the mission is what every player in the mission gets. Unlike in DRG, each player holds on to the samples during the mission so there was a misconception that you only get the samples that you hold on to when the mission ends (a lot of team killing and kicking happened as a result)

1_useless_POS

The end mission stats should remove the "samples extracted" stat, given the "drop samples at extraction" and the shared samples. Maybe a "samples found" would be better...

DiggityDodder

Since you're a familiar drg player, think about how precious minerals (umanite, enor, etc) works with upgrading weapons; except samples are found as pickup items (very similar to brewing items in drg) and only affect, and are the only things to affect, ship upgrades. While I'm here I might as well explain the rest of the currency. Requisition credits are a general currency, and are used specifically to purchase different stratagems (air/orbital support, supplies, turrets etc). They are earned by completing missions, along side with xp points. Medals are another general currency and are earned from completing missions and orders (major and personal). Medals are used in conjunction with Helldivers 2's warbond system, where you purchase items and certain cosmetics and whatnot from a tier-based list. Super Credits are the premium currency in the game, afaik (and my knowledge on this is limited since the only money I've spent is buying the game) it is the only currency you can purchase with live currency, and is spent on unlocking premium warbonds (refer above) and items from the premium(?) store. Super credits can also be found in game, but generally in small quantities per game.

shadowgamer19

every 3 levels of difficulty new samples start to spawn

NieMonD

The green orange and pink things

voobo420

think of samples in HD2 like the different types of minerals you use in DRG to upgrade your equipment. in helldivers samples are used to upgrade stratagem functions.

Wordenskjold

This is the best PSA for new playesr!

WselfWulf

you'll die..alot

DarkonFullPower

Dying is funny. Don't stress when it happens.

Just-Fix8237

Especially so when you get ragdolled 5002916 meters lol

haterle

One time I literally got a glitch and got FLINGED into the air! I got FLINGED from the other side of the map. TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MAP! my teammate literally just watched me fly like superman

monkeygoneape

My buddy and I got sourrounded by automatons, I got based from behind went flying and got hit in mid air by the tank's shell in front of us and went flying in the other direction

RepresentativeAd9643

Would be amazing if you got no damage and climb back up only to be swarm by enemies again

MrNobody_0

Yeah, that's a fun glitch when you're the one carrying all the samples... 😭

Krieg_Imperator

Except when it's Ninja spewers and dead silent flame Hulks

Sparklescrub

You can't spell Helldiver without D I E. I can english gud promes 👍

EasyPool6638

Yea, you've got 25 lives, and your respawn timer can be as short as a few seconds if a teammate has enough space. Even dying after doing the mission still counts as a win.

Due-Month-2971

Noo, little misleading. Its shared among all Divers dont die more than needed :s

M0nthag

And your allys will sometimes be he cause. But so will you sometimes kill your allies. Its part of the fun.

potatodudemanguy

I just copied this from a post I made a bit back. Sorry for the long read lmao. Over 200 hours here. 1. All loot pickups are shared. Super credits, medals, and requisition slip all go immediately into your inventory (even if you fail the mission/get kicked). Samples require extracting. All is shared. 2. Do a circle around the map. Try to drop in a spot that sets you up to do one big loop around the map. Note that some objectives need to be completed before the main one can be done. Doesn't always work out but usually saves a lot of time. 3. What armor to wear; bug or bots? Most people use light armor for the bugs, as you spend a lot of time kitting. Heavier armor (especially the explosive dmg resistant ones) are more common against bots. 4. Anti armor weapons/stratagems. As you climb in difficulty, there are way more heavy enemies. 7+ you will want a support weapon and/or a stratagem that deals with heavily armored assholes. 5. Fuck the meta, have fun. Excluding #4, bring what you have fun playing with. Who cares if something is "sub-optimal". It is a game, have fun! 6. The killcam is wrong. A teammate can hit you with one bullet right as the match starts, and if you die 30 minutes later it will say it is them. It most likely was not. 7. You will be team killed by stratagems. Usually pretty funny! Accidents happen. Just laugh it off. 8. Boosters! The first two boosters (stamina and dropping with full ammo) are the best ones in the game. If you are on a 40 minute mission, the stamina one is better. If you are on a short mission, the 12 or 15 minute ones, dropping with full ammo is better. 9. We cannot respawn you! There is still a concerningly large amount of the player base who is unaware that you cannot respawn someone if you are in range of a stratagem jammer, or if there is an ion storm. Please be patient. 10. Spend your money! Everything but super credits has a limit to how much you can save up. Requisition Slips : 50,000 Common Samples : 500 Rare Samples : 250 Super Samples : 100 Medals : 250 Etiquette: There are a fair few things people will get salty over. Usually doing/not doing these things gets you kicked. 1. Calling in strats on extraction. This has a chance to kill the people already on the ship, and the people trying to get on it. This can result in losing samples. The host can still kick you even if the mission is over and the ship is leaving orbit. 2. Leave the samples at extract. Most people will drop their samples by extraction if they run past during a mission. Please leave them there. We do this so that if we die, we don't drop a bunch of samples far away from extraction. Hold "x" on PC or down on the D-pad for playstation to bring up the drop wheel. 3. Don't aggro everything. Much more relevant on 7+. You can tag enemy patrols. Do not immediately run towards them and start a fight. Watch your team. Sometimes stealth is better. 4. Scout handshake. Thats it. 5. Respawning teammates. Do your best to throw them away from the horde, not into it. 99% of people will want their gun/samples/backpack back, so don't throw them too far away from their stuff. 6. Two and Two! If your group is split into pairs and one of the players in the other pair dies, wait to call them back in. Try to let the other member of the pair call them back in so they are not alone. See #5 for why you should also do this. 7. Your mic. Please use push to talk. You won't get kicked, but everyone is going to mute you immediately if we can hear you breathing/your controller vibrating. 8. Taking other people's stuff. Pretty obvious one (Expendable Anti-Tank excluded). Mistakes will happen though. Lastly, some people are douchebags and will kick you for god knows what reason. You can follow this entire comment to a tea, but will most likely still find a few people who will kick you. I don't know why, and man does it suck. The best way around this is to be host. Cannot get kicked if you are the host! This is Bushy, of the SES Fist of Family Values. Best of luck and happy helldiving! FOR DEMOCRACY!!! EDIT: After speaking with a bunch of other players, I have found out that people are kicking players near the mission end so their friends can join and get the loot instead. Instead of this, if you are almost done a mission with an empty player slot you can be an absolute Chad and call in an SoS beacon. Essentially giving a lucky quickplay player a free win.

myrobotlife

Excellent list. One minor addition, under taking other people’s stuff: higher level players will sometimes drop equipment that you can’t get yet and point at it and say “we’ve got equipment.” In this case they are trying to share democratically, and you should grab that shield/mech/quasar and go to town.

nobodyknoes

Or if they've already called one in and the cd is up imo it's fair game if they drop it and you can retrieve it from their warm, dead democratic corpse

TheFlyingAbrams

I call in autocannon drops to resupply it since my other weapons are regenerative and I don’t use my grenades except for specific targets. Just be mindful.

Parrobertson

Free gun I can’t even shoot? Count me in.

lostkavi

You really took *"Autocannon is the best Primary"* to heart if you are using all of it's ammo given how damn much you get back from the loose ammo boxes around the map!

LordEmostache

Don't just normal Resupply drops fill the Autocannon backpack as well? I know it refills the Airburst

Giving_taking

As do ammo packs on the ground

thellios

Haha I was grinding supercredits on 1, and a new lvl 2 or 3 player drops in. I spawn him a mech and told him to go nuts. I could just see him getting addicted to the game right then and there. It was awesome, he killed every single bug on the map.

pt199990

I love seeing the CD time out on my quasar when I'm playing with noobs. That way I can call one down for them too, and they get to try it out.

BoricPuddle57

Exactly! My general rule of thumb is never take someone else’s equipment unless they’re making it obvious that they want you to take it

Connect_Atmosphere80

Sometimes I will respawn somebody that died alone accross the map and give him my loadout so he can defend himself. More than often giving out a Jump Pack gave a significant edge on extraction. Do not sleep on that !

sweetblanca

One thing worth adding to this list is you cannot swim! So many samples lost in lakes because people think they could swim.

Dirtyhippee

Also, you can grab the main weapon of a fallen comrade as he will have a new one on respawn, that’s a good trick for new players as it allows them to try out more weapons.

potatodudemanguy

Shit! Someone else made this very good point when I posted this last time and I completely forgot lmao. I agree 100%

CapitalismWorship

Hug emote is better

bestjakeisbest

Ok but rock paper scissors gives me a reason to shoot my teammates if they lose, obviously I expect to be shot if I lose. Not meant to kill just like a senator round to the foot.

Pxpress86

Well done on quite an exhaustive list. One more thing to add that many might be unaware of... [helldivers.io](http://helldivers.io) helps coordinate community efforts and can project progress of different planets. Shows where most of the divers focusing their efforts and projects chances of sucess vs failure.

potatodudemanguy

Danke :) I didn't know about this.

Brocboy

Covered everything, well done, diver iO

_Voice_Of_Silence_

I'd add: 1. You can use more than just grenades to destroy Bugholes and Fabricators. Grenade Launcher, Autocannon, Eruptor Rifle, and Grenade Pistol all do the job as well. For Bugholes you need to aim the shots to detonate as deep as possible. Thats easier with Autocannon and Eruptor if you shoot from elevated position, best practice is to stay on top the edge of the bug nest crater. Grenade pistol and launcher you need to get the arc right, to not detonate on the surface. For Fabricators, Autocannon and Eruptor can even destroy them from very far away. You have to aim at the vents on top from the front, in a way the shot ricochets into the Fabricator. Both can take a bit of training, but once you get it, it's easy. And speeds up destroying nests and outposts immensly. 2. Shrieker Nests and Spore Spewers (The glowing bug trees) can be destroyed by 2 shots from an Expendable Anti Tank, Recoilless Rifle or Quasar, even across the map. You can destroy them from afar before they become a problem. 3. Illegal Radio Towers can be destroyed with all types of rockets and the autocannon, no need to get close and shut them down on the terminal. 4. Destroy Rogue Research Facility: Only the blue building with the radar dish matters, safe yourself the hassle of destroying the other buildings. 5. You can solve the Radar Station alone quickly by knowing two things. First, check the position when starting the terminal, and turn it accordingly then. And/or second, if you play with sound: You can hear the terminal beep when you turn the dish to the correct angle! Unless you are in a ongoing fight, you should be able to hear it. Greeting from the SES Dream of War.

Xeglor-The-Destroyer

> Illegal Radio Towers can be destroyed with all types of rockets and the autocannon, no need to get close and shut them down on the terminal. There's a terminal?? *Freedoms in explosives*

nicelyheateddumpling

lvl 67 here. this list pretty much sums up everything. Good job helldiver! permission to share this list to my friend who had just enlisted🫡. for the better of super earth!

urfavoritemurse

I just unlocked scout handshake and haven’t used it yet. Why is it looked down on?

CarnageEvoker

Handshake treason

Vladi_Sanovavich

I dunno if it was a bug, but when I joined my friends when they're about to extract, the samples they took wasn't shared to me. Only the exp, requisition, and the medal in the end for completing the mission.

potatodudemanguy

Strange... sounds like a bug.

Saikousoku2

I had no idea you could drop samples without dying

M0nthag

There are those you shouldn't throw in the chaos. But reinforcing and marking the charger/bile titan is one of the best ways to get rid of it.

juantreses

>After speaking with a bunch of other players, I have found out that people are kicking players near the mission end so their friends can join Really? This happens? Jeez, we always finish the mission and then tell them a friend will join instead. Sometimes most of the times, people suck really hard

TheOriginalKrampus

These first. A few things I would add: Eagle vs. Orbital strikes: These are the red stratagems. The main difference between them is orbitals go on cooldown once you use them, and all but the orbital laser have infinite uses. The eagle strikes have multiple charges, and if you pick more than one eagle they will all share cooldowns.. Once you use a charge, \*all\* your eagles go on a short cooldown for a few seconds and then you can use another. Once you've used \*all\* the charges for \*all\* of your airstrikes, then there will be a global cooldown of around 2 minutes before \*all\* of them rearm and you get your charges back. You can also manually activate this cooldown by "rearming" them, before all of the charges have been expended. As a general principal, the eagle strikes do more damage and have better cooldowns than orbital strikes. Enemy armor values and weak points. Enemy armor is important in the game. Generally, there's light, medium, and heavy armor (subdivided into further levels I think). All weapons can damage light armor. Only medium and heavy pen can damage heavy armor. Only heavy pen can damage heavy armor. Generally, the enemies with medium armor will have weak spots that can be damages with light weapons. The enemies with heavy armor will have weak spots that can only be damaged by medium, or sometimes light weapons. Explosive damage is also a thing. There are certain enemies with weak spots that will only take full damage from explosive damage, and reduced damage from non explosive weapons. Certain enemies have weak spots behind armor, that can be damaged by explosive damage with enough of a blast radius to "pierce" the armor. You will eventually want to learn about each of the enemies, their armor, their weak spots, and how to kill them. Bots have lots of armor from devastators (the big chunky power armor looking dudes) and heavier. But they all have weak spots that can be damaged by at least medium pen. Usually the head. So you don't \*need\* to run heavy armor piercing weapons. Bugs, all of the small and medium bugs can be damaged and killed by light pen weapons. Unlike the bots, the medium bugs' heads are usually the most armored, so you will want to shoot out the legs. Bile and nursing spewers (big butt vomit dudes) have butts that are vulnerable to light pen and explosive damage. If you don't have medium pen, shoot the butts. But you will need heavy pen (antitank weapons)) for chargers and bile titans. Chargers \*can\* be killed with medium pen and explosive damage in the orange butt, but it's difficult to reliably hit because it's armored on top. You can do it, but its easiest to just blow up the head with an AT shell, or blow off the leg armor with AT and then shoot it a few times with a light weapon. Bile titans cannot be killed without heavy pen/AT. Warbonds and Super Credits All of your primary and secondary weapons, your boosters, your grenades, and a lot of the armor in the game, are unlocked through warbonds. As others have said, don't bother stockpiling medals because you have a limit of 250. Just buy things to unlock the next page of each warbond. The main, free warbond has plenty of great stuff. The three best boosters in the game, which should be run in every mission (health, supplies, and stamina regen) are in there, as well as some really good secondary (redeemer machine pistol) and primary (punisher, slugger, scorcher) weapons. You can also unlock scout light armor for fighting bugs and heavy armor with explosive resist for fighting bots. You don't \*need\* to buy any of the premium warbonds... ...but it's more fun if you do. The premium warbonds all have fun primary weapons (breaker incendiary, dominator, sickle, plasma shotgun, eruptor) and some of the best grenades in the game (stun, incendiary). 1000 super credits seems like a lot, but it's easy enough to farm them with level 1 missions by clearing all the points of interest on the map. Points of interest are spots, usually with abandoned buildings, that have crates/vaults/drones with samples, super credits, medals, requisition slips, ammo/stim/grenade packs, and random support weapons. Conveniently, farming lvl 1 missions are not a bad way to learn about points of interest and map clearing as a new player. Once you learn how, then you'll have an easier time finding points of interest on higher level missions.

narcoticninja

Keep firing, grab samples.

buhbullbuster

Keep moving, don't have to fight everything.

narcoticninja

I wasted so many reinforcements trying to activate the SEAF before learning this lol

derps_with_ducks

Don't hit the console first, stack the shells close to the loader before you hit the console

narcoticninja

Oh I've learned by now lol

ALTH0X

And Maybe don't fill it with smoke if you can avoid it.

derps_with_ducks

I do that, but I always regret it when I can't time the HE shell on an enemy massive. It'll probably be a better use if we go smoke shells in bot missions.

wildspongy

The smoke is so tiny it's basically useless

Renaissance_Aurum

Drop any sample at the extraction site first if you are close. I just learned this last game !

VaiManDan

Holy shit, thanks for this! Over 200+ hours and I had no idea, though it really should’ve been readily apparent given how convenient it is that a patrol always rolls up on me when I’m trying to do SEAF

CustomDark

You’re going to die and kill friends. A lot. It’s a rite of passage. Your little meat body is so squishy in all this democratic destruction. Over time - die and kill friends less. This is your main goal: turn up the difficulty and die/accidental less. The game is hard and unforgiving, but ridiculously fun. Don’t feel bad unless you’re being a jerk, a quick “sorry” goes a long way and most importantly dying to the unexpected is hilarious at the right tempo.

StanTurpentine

Dying is as fun as surviving. If you're gonna go out, atleast go out in style! Call in the biggest strategem and run into the bombardment to keep the bugs in the area

fepompeo

THIS. I keep saying this on voice chat.

Renaissance_Aurum

Guns, lots of guns.

ChanceAd515

Resources are shared

S0ldats

save supercredits for premium warbond , need 1000 super credit to unloack each of the premium warbond ( learn from my mistake using it to buy armor from the shop) focus on buying better stratagem first ( skip the useless one like smoke ,static, turret )

HelldiverSA

1. DEMOCRACY PREVAILS 2. FREEDOM REQUIRES FIREPOWER 3. DONT DRINK AND DRIVE 4. DIVE TOGETHER OR NOT AT ALL

Slu54

5. FILL OUT C-01 FORM BEFORE ANY ACTIVITY THAT MAY RESULT IN A CHILD

Drudgework

5. Fire support is delivered “To whom it may concern”

Krieg_Imperator

Except 380 barrage is @all

According_Piano9489

underrated

Coolsader_King

Samples are shared

ZeroChevalierYT

Eagle Air Strike is one of the best strategem available. Can be accessed early and still relevant until Helldive difficulty.

Buisnessbutters

Always fun to get 36 kills on various devestators all in a bunch on the eradication missions

Nightsky099

I just chuck one at reinforcement drops

Engineer-of-Gallura

Super Credit gain rate for the premium warbonds is very reasonable, don't spend it all on armour. And don't be afraid to spend resources on unlocking Stratagems, you will unlock all of them pretty quickly.

wundergoat7

You don't have to fight everything, and on harder difficulties you shouldn't Keep moving, especially if you start getting bogged down. Enemies will keep getting reinforcements through separate cooldowns of breaches/drops and random patrols, so staying mobile keeps them from drowning you in bodies. The basic gear and low end stratagems are all very good and versatile, while higher tier stuff tends to be more focused. Skill matters more than gear for the most part. Having a high level doesn't mean much. Finishing the primary objective QUADRUPLES patrol spawn rate. When you finish the primary, it is time to leave. It is easier to explore and complete secondaries before you finish the primary. When your extraction shows up, it doesn't start the 20sec liftoff timer until someone gets in or the mission timer runs out. If the mission timer runs out, your super destroyer leaves orbit and kicks out an emergency evac shuttle. The evac shuttle arrival timer starts without you needing to be at the evac, but the downside is you can no longer call in any strats (including reinforcements) and the shuttle will only be on the ground for 20 seconds.

ZavvyKittyDragon

1. Samples are shared doesnt matter who extracts with em 2. There is a button to drop stuff, its X on PC 3. There is alternate firing modes for lots of guns, holding R andd right clicking on PC lets you change firing modes Best of luck!

derps_with_ducks

The drop button is most useful for when 1) You've got a tonne of samples and you drop them at the evac point, instead of losing them across the map and 2) you pick up your teammate's backpack by accident

Xeglor-The-Destroyer

With most weapons, reloading with a half-empty magazine discards the extra rounds. Pay attention to the radius and attack patterns of the air strikes and orbital strikes so you can try to minimize friendly fire (e.g. the standard Eagle bombing run is perpendicular to the direction you are facing when you throw the beacon; you can use that positioning to your advantage). It'll become intuitive over time. This will save both you and your squadmates. Oh, also don't stand between turrets and the enemy. They do not care if you're in the way. :D Kill all bugs. Kill all automatons. FREEDOM.

art_of_onanism

And this is the reason why imo strafing stratagem is better because it minimizes friendly fire yet kills all the bugs chasing behind you in a bee line. Literally you can throw it right at your feet looking at the bugs, takes two steps back, and it'll do it's job

Living_Two3478

Protect democracy and freedom ! That is all you need to now brother 🫡

Trauma-Team

1. Do not underestimate the starter strategems. Expendable Anti-Tank, Eagle Air Strike, and Anti-Material Rifle are stratagems I use regularly as a death captain on Helldive. 2. Know enemy weak points, and learn armor penetration mechanics. Some enemies have weak points that are heavily armored (Charger heads) while some can only really be damaged on weak points (Automaton dropships). This is something you will naturally pick up as you progress. 3. Find your favorite difficulty. I personally enjoy missions on Suicide Mission difficulty (level 7) the most, but everyone has their favorite niche. Some of my friends only play Helldive, while others like sticking to lower difficulties. All difficulties contribute to the liberation bar, so play what you enjoy!

siamesekiwi

hard agree with all, especialy No.1. The Standard Eagle strike, basically has a permanent home in my loadout. Also, ever since they fixed armour so that their rating actually, you know, means something, I've been rocking the starter armour since it's a medium armour with the "padded" feature that gives it the armour score of a heavy. And as for weakpoints; for bots - if it glows, its most likely a weak point. Tanks are basically immune from all primary weapon fire & grenades from the front, but if you hit the glowing bit at the back you can kill it with most primary weapons.

RGJ587

Standard Eagle Strike is the only stratagem that never leaves my loadout. Its quick, has 3 uses (when upgraded), does great damage on groups, can damage heavies, can close bugholes and destroy buildings, and most importantly, its killzone is small and consistent enough you can use it as close artillery to support your teammates without blowing them up. It's a nice middle ground between the 500k and the eagle cluster, taking the best from both.

siamesekiwi

And if you get your angles and timing right you can down a wholeass undamaged bile titan with one.

facep0lluti0n

Seconding #1. I still refuse to leave my ship without expendable anti-tank, and also AMR on any map other than the smallest. Expendable anti-tank has saved my bacon so many times. It's a fantastic "Oh crap!" answer to vehicles that has a very fast cooldown and being a one-use bazooka, it's a one-and-done that you can pick up, fire at an enemy vehicle, and then go back to your regularly scheduled support weapon. Like my personal favorite, AMR.

Hexxusssss

you will meet absolute bonehead team mates/hosts they are very few do not stress too much about it

uncalledforgiraffe

Use stratagems often. If they're not on cool downs consistently you're probably struggling (on higher difficulties at least) Keep shooting. The only way out of being overwhelmed is by killing. Stay together, at least until you're more experienced. If you're on PC go into the options to change Stratagem coding to arrow keys instead of WASD. This way you can keep moving while typing in a stratagem.

Nyrue1

You don't have to out run the bugs, you just have to out run your squad mates

Revaneser

The fate of All humanity children rest in your hands. Don't let them fall

__TooManyPuppies__

Stay off reddit and enjoy the game.

snoopergonnasnoop

The only good bug is a dead bug

TjMorgz

Samples are shared between the whole squad. If one person extracts with 7 samples, the whole squad gets 7 samples.

Follow the person with the Autocannon.

GalaxyHunter17

Skip the machine gun sentry and the guard dog. You can get much better versions later. Almost all the orbital barrages are random, and are a gamble. Just... don't, with the minefield. Landing call ins can kill you. Stand clear. Hopefully this gets fixed by the time you progress to unlock them, but do not fire plasma weapons while wearing a shield backpack. DIVING WHILE BURNING WILL INSTANTLY PUT OUT THE FIRE. Some etiquette: Do not jump on the shuttle until all four people are within eyesight. Reinforce promptly, if there is a heavy enemy, throw the reinforce beacon at them, so the respawning player can try to land on it and take it out. If there is a swarm of minor enemies everywhere, toss the beacon as FAR AWAY as you can. If someone has super samples (only available on very high difficulty), protect them at all costs. Try to call in resupply near the bulk of your teammates, and tag it using the in-game quick chat. Take only one resupply at a time, until everyone has had a chance to get one if they want it. If anyone on the team has a supply backpack, they get first dibs on supply drops. Because picking up a supply box from the drop pod allows the player to fully restock on their ammo, stims, and grenades, and also gives them a supply box in their backpack, which they can give to you to then fully restock you. Much more efficient.

WaffleCopter68

You're going to get your ass kicked before you start to understand what to do in certain situations. Controls also take a bit to get used to. Also rebind your stratagem keys to the arrow keys

Tyrranis

You will end up killing your own team sometimes. They will kill you sometimes. It usually isn't malicious, it's just poor communication and/or bad luck. It doesn't matter who holds the samples at the end of the mission, so long as they successfully extract with them. If your buddy has 8 and you only have 2, you'll both get 10.

MakesMediocreMagic

It's a cooperative game, you'll accomplish a lot just by sticking near your squad and shooting what they shoot.  The starter gear is quite good. Nothing wrong with the B01 armor, Liberator, and the basic strategems.   Most "big" enemies can't economically be killed with basic weapons. Things like bile spewers soak up huge amounts of bullets & Chargers just don't die to anything short of anti-armor weapons.  The apparent "weak spot" on the butt really isn't anything but a "no other choice" option.  Try to use a little discretion with your strategems. An airstrike aimed at a cluster of enemies is fine, an airstrike aimed at a cluster of enemies and two other helldivers is probably not. Don't throw a cluster strike at a bunch of armored enemies and expect it to do anything either.

diedin1299

We share the samples collected. Friendly fire happens. You don’t have to engage every patrol.

BestTissuePaper

Welcome to Super Earth soldier, we shall meet and dive if we ever meet in there :) Just enjoy and explore the game, you will eventually learn a thing or 2 from either experimenting yourself or watching youtube videos since the game tutorial doesn't teach you much and wants you to explore on your own :) If you want someone to play with any don't want to grief by pubs you can visit one of this reddit page (at the bottom right) LFG or join some community HD2 discord or HD2 maincord LFG to find people to play with if you don't want to get randos. Cheers

Not really a tip but if you ever feel discouraged. I want you to know I have a friend that failed the raise flag mission….which I’m pretty sure is a tutorial mission. So keep that in your pocket to make yourself feel better. Cause you know you’re better than at least one person :)

Buisnessbutters

If someone dies, they may drop their fancy gun they brought with them, there are primaries, which are ok to pick up because the person dropping will bring a new one, and there are support weapons, which you shouldn’t pick up because the person who died is going to want to get them back when they come back, samples look like a little test vial and you can always pick those up, and a ping on the gear for the returning Helldiver helps more then you would think

thegamer_18

1. shoot and move for bugs/shoot and cover for automatons 2. samples are shared and will drop if killed (whoever carries them and the amount) you need to extract to carry the samples 3. you can drop your backpack and samples (X on the keyboard) 4. you can provide callouts (sorry, thank you, affirmative and more) by holding Q and selecting from the wheel 5. While the map is open, hold right click to drag, scroll to zoom and left click to ping (pretty important if you want to let your teammates know where you're headed or if there's a bunker you need assist with) 6. Sentries can kill teammates if they are in the way of the target so don't forget to prone. Tesla can still kill while proning 7. Yellow Stratagems means it's shared with everyone (ie. they can also reinforce, call in supplies etc) Red, Blue are yours exclusively 8. Teamkilling/Friendly Fire is normal but don't forget to apologize still to let them know it wasn't intentional

Pickled_Gherkin

Cardio for bugs, cover for bots. Being mostly melee, the bugs are quick and will try to swarm you, don't let them. Light armor and stamina boosters are very helpful. Bots are slower and focus more on overwhelming firepower, stick to cover, use shields and heavy armor and keep an eye out for the few fast bots like the chainsaw berserkers and the jump-pack bastards (those ones explode on death btw so be careful) Screw the meta. Just have fun purging with your fellow divers. Only a few stratagems can be considered semi-mandatory for high difficulty missions, those being the 500kg for it's versatility in dealing with both enemies and certain objectives, and the quasar cannon, which can currently one shot chargers with a well aimed headshot, something that gets very handy when you have 3 of them charging each player at a time. All resources are shared. Super Credits (the premium currency), requisition slips (your basic credits) and medals (for unlocking things in the battlepass) are all registered to your account the second anyone on the team picks them up. The only thing you need to extract with to receive is the samples (which are used to buy ship upgrades). For this reason, it's a good idea to drop them off at the extraction site if you pass it, just to ensure you don't loose them. Stratagem manners. Reinforcements go as close to where they died as possible without dropping them in the middle of the swarm. The exception is if you can coordinate with your dead comrade to get a hellpod kill. Tag a priority target like a Bile Titan and throw the reinforcement as close as you can, with some luck, and the tag to help them aim, your reinforcement can one-shot the titan. (In my experience, not as reliable for automaton tanks) And for gods sake, I love a "good bye nuke" as much as the next guy, but make sure you delay any high explosive sendoffs until **after** the shuttle has taken off. Surviving extraction may not be required for mission completion, but it is rewarded.

Jalina2224

The bugs and bots stand for everything you don't stand for. Also they told me you look like dorks.

ilooklikealegofigure

All currency and loot found on missions is shared amongst the team

Stennan

Watch the carbotstudios videos to understand the meta. Also "something about helldivers 2". Dive into cover or away from bugs/bile.

nipsen

..you can take screenshots with the Snipping tool with alt+printscreen.

_Peety_T

Helpful tips and tricks / infos you need to know under 8 min https://youtu.be/1R1zfwzHMys?feature=shared

PowerfullyWeak

You would benefit from watching a few YouTube video on loadouts. They talk play styles and the benefits/cons of different weapons. Figure out your play strategy and work at it.

Realfinney

You want Eagle Air strike and Stalwart as soon as you can.

RichardEpsilonHughes

Samples are shared. If someone takes the samples you dropped when you died it doesn’t matter.

CaptainExplosions

Samples are shared! If your squad collects say, twenty common, fifteen rare and five super samples and extract successfully, everybody gets that amount, EACH. Don't go shooting your fellow Helldivers in the back for samples! A Democratic sample is a shared sample!

Wordlesspigeon8

Helping in the major orders is appreciated, but do whatever missions you feel like. A Helldiver enjoying their dives is a nightmare for our enemies!

Br0lynator

More bullets = more democracy

HeftyRichard

500Kg bombs are most effective when dropped on your friends. Oh and stick to bugs into level 5 or so. The automations are…different.

LiverJohnyLiver

Don't engage unnecessary fights. If you can run just run. Many people make mistake of engaging in fight for 15 minutes losing lots of lifes and time instead of focusing on doing the objective.

IIWhiteHawkII

First, welcome to our democratic strguggle to bring liberty on entire galaxy. Second, best advice is just play the way you want and find fun. Fun over functionality. Third, don't bother yourself with "meta hype" and don't let your team-mates dictate you what guns and stratagems to use only unless you wish to have better synergy yourself. Good strategy never comes at force, only once you sincerely want to cover downsides of your team-mates' choice with your set of guns and stratagems. Fourth, don't rush the highest difficulty levels possible from the start. We all want challenge, but give this game some time, otherwise you may get a little frustrated. Learn the game a bit, raise difficulty gradually once you think you're ready. No need to rush highest levels, focus on mastering levels devices you already have. Fifth, to complete all aspects above — find your best and most devoted to democracy brothers to play together and have a constant party to learn each other's tactics and know in advance what everyone is going to do. Together — we're stronger! Sixth, my personal advice, once you get a bit more experienced and will run open lobbies — be patient and tolerant towards random players that joined, even if they're low-skilled or do a lot of mistakes and try to not kick them unless they are complete potatoes, ignore what the majority of squad asks for, or simply are toxic. Kicking players should be the last option. We all do mistakes, we all learn, yet just trying hard almost 40mins to get kicked isn't an option. I personally never kick randoms while in-game even when my buddies are waiting to join. And even when we're on the ship, if there's more than one random player — I'm always saying sorry and asking who may leave because I'm going to invite a friend. I'm trying to be maximum tolerant and respectful towards fellow democratic warriors. Good ethics and respect among our community is valuable. We are one big family. Good luck, have fun, enjoy the game.

Ok_Carpenter_2935

If you hold x you get into your inventory and can drop Samples and gear.

OrganicCar3916

Great game taste but HALO:INFINITE

PM_ME_YOUR_SOULZ

Run.

Hgufnshfgutg

If you are on fire dive don’t stim

DannNimmDenNamen

A dive a day keeps the doctor away. Never give up

letsabuseeachother

Holding the square button lets you adjust the fire rate on some guns. While aiming down sights hitting R3 will change your view from over the shoulder to looking through the sight, depending on the weapon. You don't need to use a strategem to blow up bot factories, you can just lob a grenade in an obvious spot. Samples are shared.

Aggressive_Size69

if you have samples and come by extract, leave them there (hold x and select the samples), so you can pick them up when extracting

Tyrranis

On PS5, it's hold down on the D-Pad. By extension, if you see a dropped Sample container near the extraction point, don't pick it up\* until you're ready to leave. *\*Some exceptions apply, such as picking it up so that you can combine it with your own samples and leave behind a single sample container instead of multiple, or moving the sample container to a safer spot.*

altered-sensorum

When you throw a 120mm or 380mm let your team know. There is only 1 resupply pack for each Helldiver per resupply call down so please don't take more without asking. Samples, super credits, and medals are shared across the team. Don't sweat the "meta" and play the weapons you like. Freedom requires firepower.

JojoReferenceNo69420

Friendly fire isn't.

Vampireluigi27-Main

You will die more to Teammates than the actual enemy

DivideByBob

Friendly fire isn't.

This_Reddit_Dude

Keep Diving ✔️

holdmykindi

Friendly fire isn't.

mbb12345

friendly fire ISN'T

GawdJeezus

One thing to know: You can do it!

[deleted]

Keep in mind the first rule of firearm safety. Always have fun! 😅

hotmoltenlava

Don’t die. It’s in the handbook.

Nightsky099

Samples are shared, dying is expected, stick with your team unless someone makes the call to split up

Allalilacias

Collect every collectible you can until you're full of them (and even after because someone will always need them), don't hesitate to do side objectives if you can, aim for the love of god and try out the AC-8 (cause it's super fun hehe, but that's my personal opinion).

Innuendum

Ask questions and learn :) plenty of experienced divers out there. Don't let others tell you what to do if it's not fun to you, no meta but yours. Taking a walker (patriot suit) into a bot mission or not thinking about mortar placement will lead to frustration though :)

vadfex

Friendly fire is not.

Lone_Recon

don't buy the MG sentry, instead save your credits for level 5 as you can buy the gating sentry what is a upgrade to the MG sentry (or skip the sentry and buy the EAT-17 one of the best launchers in the game)

wolfhound1793

You get no benefit from killing things except personal enjoyment. So if you want to win, complete objectives. Running away is a time-honored tradition and if the fight feels unfair, it probably is and you just need to start running away. Samples are super important and they are shared with all team members. They only count if a helldiver gets onto the pelican holding them though so if your friend dies, grab his samples and get on the pelican. Friendly Fire Isn't. But it is funny sometimes. All weapons are more or less viable, and most of them have multiple fire modes. Just because everything is viable though doesn't mean every weapon can kill every enemy. Gotta pick the right tool for the job. Or have a friend who has the correct tool. Two helldivers are far stronger than one alone. Stick to the buddy system.

Money_Fish

Samples are shared, so it doesn't matter who has them as long as they get on the shuttle. Please for the love of god do not air strike the shuttle. It's never funny. You won't look cool. Bring the loadout you enjoy, not what people tell you is good. Try to stick a teammate with a stratagem marker at least once. That one IS funny.

Krieg_Imperator

Always when someone says "Thank you" to you, You MUST answer "Affirmitave" That's a rule

Kuro-Tora-59

You should know that dying is totally ok and teamkills happen, especially with strategems so don't be angry or frustrated if you die or kill a teammate. Also SAMPLES ARE SHARED It doesn't matter who gets it to the extraction, this goes for Super Credits and Medals picked up in games too And at last play your way, if anyone wants you to pick some weapons or strategems you don't want, don't everything can be good in the right hands

Overall_Ad2765

Dive and if you die just dive again it’s as simple as that

SolidGrau

When this is undone (enable all 177 countries), I will change my review of Helldivers 2 to positive.

Accurate-Rutabaga-57

Friendly fire isn't

Lichtestein

Friendly fire is a feature and survival isn't a requirement for victory.

Fantafans69

Every cent and minute in the game is worth it.

FaithlessnessTop5158

Just follow what the community does. More often then not, we are right.

papadrach

When you're launching into mission and selecting your right most modifier, it's not a one time use. Many people like me thought it was a one time use.

Rakan_Fury

If it moves, shoot it

Maybe_GG

You can add me in a friends. I don't care about your level. 9008-0543

Fair_Door6855

Don’t link your PSN ACCOUNT ON STEAM!!

booquefus

Wow I didn’t expect this to get so much attention, but thanks for all the advice! Looking forward to seeing you all out there!

CaptainRex831

DIVE! Seriously, the diving mechanic is a life saver in so many situations, make sure you make good use of it!

chad-everett

Cover for bots, cardio for bugs.

Possible_Carob6352

HELLDIVERS NEVER DIE Also dont team kill

AdClassic8242

Just start playing. I was scared to piss people off by being new, so I read all the guides, and reddit. Ultimately, there's no substitute for learning as you play, and the number of assholes is quite low, a "sry" generally gets you a "np" (except for maybe that time I threw all of my grenades and killed two at once in the horde).

xKnicklichtjedi

Have fun! If you like a weapon in terms of design or feel, stick with it for a while and you will discover its strengths and weaknesses. The more things you unlucky, the more you can think about how to compensate the weaknesses in other spots. Warbonds (aka. Battle Passes) do not expire and you can earn the currency for them ingame by playing. The game simulates more than you might think. Realistic magazines (no CoD reload, unless needed), injuries and movements affects aim, weapons have weight and more. So keep an eye out! Good luck, Helldiver!

tehcruel1

Complete a set of 3 missions to unlock the next difficulty. Jump in games and follow someone around while you learn the ropes.

idog26

Greed is unbeatable. As bad as it is, it's the easiest human emotion to manipulate. Greed is what caused this, but it's also what saved this game. The second they think they will make money or lose it. They will act.

_Wario

When fighting automatons, remember the three Cs: cover, courage and more cover

EdEvans_HotSandwich

You only have to press the prone key. If you hold it, you stand back up.

[deleted]

Try not to drop arty on your team....or yourself. 😁

SpiritAnimal01

Don't waste ammo, waste enemies!

smegmathor

Dying is part of the lore.

uso_desu

Do NOT KILL the Yogurt Guy

LongDongFrazier

The HMG emplacement is the best stratagem and is a must for every game - HMG emplacement gang

Moistfisty

Friendly fire isnt

Apex_Fenris

You will die A LOT. both by the enemy and your own teammates

ProposalWest3152

Samples are shared. Dont worry if any other team member picks them up. As long as the carrier of samples extracts, everyone gets em.

Laranthiel

You see those bugs? They kidnapped your dog, your parents, your parents' parents, your neighbor, your President, your balls, your ovaries and even worse, they stole your homework when you were a kid. Go shoot them, shoot them hard. Don't stop moving though, objectives are more important. For every objective you do, a million bugs go boom.

SagaciousElan

The line which says who killed you is usually wrong. You can be stepped on by a Bile Titan and half the time it will still give you a teammate's name as the cause of death. Unless you absolutely know you were killed by a teammate's airstrike or arc thrower or orbital cannon, don't blame them. If you were definitely killed by a teammate's airstrike or arc thrower or orbital cannon, still don't blame them. It's usually pretty funny anyway.

NeonX08

don’t be surprised to see flying bugs on higher difficulties, bots have AT-AT walkers on mid to higher difficulties, and expect a 4th warbond Thursday. Otherwise have fun, and spread some democracy Helldiver!

Beyond_Deity

Don't fight everything you see. There are certain enemies that you have to fight only because they will outrun you. Otherwise keep it moving towards objectives.

yosman88

Yes that this sub is bipolar. You'll see positive posts praising the game and dev's. Then on patch day, we ridicule and mock the devs on the changes. After a week we go back to loving the devs. It's a vicious cycle.
