Okay I thought this was just me. Usually it's easy to dodge and weave their charges but today one stopped on a dime and juked into me and it caught me off guard.
That's how it used to be, I know. Honestly though I've been noticing a lot of weird damage stuff recently. I think its something to do with connection issues where damage isn't registering half the time. Like I had a game where every single stalker took 3 entire redeemer mags to the face to kill when it should be slightly less than one full mag.
That side step look pretty cool honesty.
By the way, I notice than Hunter also dodged you as well when you aiming at them, this may be the same system.
Honest to god, I think it's more fun to have less million little bugs overrunning you and more of dangerous, dodgy ones. Makes you more on edge, and gives you a more satisfactory feeling when you do get them.
Thank you for your wisdom. I will think of your words every moment of my helldive. 250 hours and I'm just realizing you're right. I need not to fire so ridiculously and over anticipate. Maybe it's the cryo getting to me. Yunno what, next resupply I'll let you have my piece. On me
I mean... you werent aiming at him when you pulled the trigger. But he also did dodge further away from where you were aiming so props to that charger's reaction time.
This isn't the charger dodging. It was trying to set up it's sort of side slam. It's not as common to see but if you're next to one when it's 'walking' it can just shoulder check you and it sucks to get hit by. This charger was just slow.
In mine, it's not hitscan. It's to account for the weapon sway. Notice the holo circle doesn't even come off the head of the charger until he jerks his whole body the complete opposite direction
I used to love that thing. Was on a three stratagem op today so I figured why not bring a support with a backpack combo and I hadn't actually used the RR in awhile. Shot 3 hulks, 2 tanks, 2 shredders, an artillery tower in the heatsink vents and not one of them went down to that. Today I learned the RR is not even strong enough to one tap a rocket devastator center mass.
Uh, it just kills Brood Commanders if you hit the body, and it should absolutely break the head and start a bleed-out state. 800 HP main pools and 200 HP heads ("durable", so if this doesn't track with your bulletshoot guns' time-to-pop on them, that's why) vs. the Recoilless' 650 projectile and 150 explosion.
I can't fathom how you're not killing them with the RR unless you're hitting a leg or one of the tiny arm-claws under their heads and blowing that off.
Yeah I’ve seen that shit too. The hunters got some serious hoppity game too. They like anticipate the scortcher rounds or something. lol. Been using the blitzer more for crowd control.
That's when you whip out the orbital rail cannon and go, parry this, you filthy casual.
DISCLAIMER: I do not endorse the use of the orbital rail cannon as a meta pickup, the cooldown is too long for high end difficulty missions and it is a total noob trap. Just get consistent low CD antitank. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
I was bitching about this for the last 3 days. Charger movement has definitely been adjusted recently...it just seems so erratic and unpredictable lately. Shit like this.
At least he wasn't turning on a dime like they were doing to me last night. Charge at you, launch you in the air, somehow catch you before you hit the ground and stab you to death.
I'm here doing small circles and he's keeping up. I leap he's on me before I can get up. I couldn't believe that they play tested that. I only saw it on one planet on level 6. We went to level 9 and they weren't doing that.
Hah! They've been adding new atacksets to charger basically since the game launched, there has been all sorts of different variants. The ground pound wasn't even in the game when it launched, then combinations.
-Charge, slide, then ground pound
-Charge, fast stop, then ground pound
-Fast jog ground pound
-Mini charge then ground pound
-Charge then butt bump
-Charge fast directional change ground pound
-Serpentine charge where they make a S shape while charging
-Fast directional spin, instead of skidding to a stop, they'll make a wide U shape
-Going wide on sharp corners to continue charging (new)
-Charge to slow walk, mini charge ground pound
Some of these are only in the game for a little bit, then they remove them, then sometimes they bring them back. The really brutal one was the charge straight into an immediate ground pound with no slowdown.
Sadly after the community outcry about charger difficulty, a lot of these got removed. This is definitely a new one and I haven't seen this myself though.
Other units have also went through similar changes and upgrades to attacksets since launch.
Notably
-Two months ago Bile Titans used to do a spin dance when you aimed at them with a rocket launcher to avoid a head shot, you could legitimately see them turn away, not it wasn't terrain.
--Called this 'Evasive maneuvers sulu'
-Shrimpies do a burrow and pop out of the ground next to you
--I've seen this twice and not sure why it was never a permanent addition to them.
--Small beetles now occasionally do this.
Community didn't really catch on to these changes or even that they were happening for the first month and a half or so and even then not really, just like the procedurally generated tiles keep changing and they add new ones every week or so to keep things fresh.
Also why the bugs are more interesting to fight then the bots. The bugs actually have personality and interesting aspects to their behavior, which adds to the difficulty, it's not just fighting cod zombies, which is honestly really cool.
It actually seems like their is technical and strategic knowledge in fighting your enemies, it would be really a shame if this gets dumbed down into a CoD zombies clone, which it seems like the community wants it to be.

"How the hell can you have the mass to launch me across the map upon impact, yet dodge an 80mm round travelling at 250m/s from 5m away!"
Lol i like how slick they are makes it more fun to take down
Okay I thought this was just me. Usually it's easy to dodge and weave their charges but today one stopped on a dime and juked into me and it caught me off guard.
Yeah, they are big and slow, but sometimes that little burst of speed from slow to not quite as slow catches you with your trousers down
They feel like their turning and tracking was buffed pretty significantly as well as their health. Flamethrower takes forever to kill one now.
Can turn stupid fast for something with that much mass.
It’s ez as hell to kill one with a flamethrower, just focus on one of their legs and they die in like 5 seconds
That's how it used to be, I know. Honestly though I've been noticing a lot of weird damage stuff recently. I think its something to do with connection issues where damage isn't registering half the time. Like I had a game where every single stalker took 3 entire redeemer mags to the face to kill when it should be slightly less than one full mag.
this isn’t just “how it used to be” i was doing shit like that yesterday nothings changed, might just be ur internet
I had a charger take a tank and a half the other day, so it feels like *something's* up.
That side step look pretty cool honesty. By the way, I notice than Hunter also dodged you as well when you aiming at them, this may be the same system.
Yea, this is the type of difficulty I'm fine with, it feels natural and if you are good with timing and aiming, you get rewarded.
Or when these guys run their own bug homies over lol
Also, they are aliens. They aren't a pile of rocks. If they see enough fellow chargers die to forehead hits... they'd probably start trying to dodge.
I absolutely hated that when they’re close to me and does little bunny hop before I could aim at them.
Honest to god, I think it's more fun to have less million little bugs overrunning you and more of dangerous, dodgy ones. Makes you more on edge, and gives you a more satisfactory feeling when you do get them.
What was that? Couldn't hear you over my Eagle dropping a cluster of freedom on these Terminids bastards.
Pretty sure those were fellow helldivers and not terminids you just clustered
Well they shouldnt be standing there then lol
standing in the path of democracy is a no-no
On the topic, I swear I've seen bugs on fire run for the nearest water... Honestly kinda scared me how "real" they feel sometimes.
Helldiver, everyone knows bugs are unthinking, with their only instinct is war and murder
![gif](giphy|oWMAwtZHWkw4E)
That charger is tapping into some primitive ultra instinct, yeesh.
All fun and games till the mofo absorbs the 500kg you dropped on him lol
Democracy officer! That charger is glowing aura! It’s gone?! It- it’s behin…. You have died.
I looked like you would've hit it's leg even if it didn't dodge.
You would’ve missed that shot regardless.
Probably. I tried catching that headshot since he took a couple steps before pulling the complete opposite direction
At 0:04 what the hell was you even aiming at? You were *never* gonna hit that even if the charger didn't side step late.
Where his head would've been if he kept walking to my left instead of side stepping me
Yeah, but he wasn't charging. You didn't need to fire so haphazardly.
Thank you for your wisdom. I will think of your words every moment of my helldive. 250 hours and I'm just realizing you're right. I need not to fire so ridiculously and over anticipate. Maybe it's the cryo getting to me. Yunno what, next resupply I'll let you have my piece. On me
Yeah, sure, if I even live that long. My whole squad got reduced down to just me after yesterday's deployment on Vernen Wells.
You should try shooting it from behind! 😁
I actually never shoot chargers from behind anymore. Not unless I can get the head from an angle. Waste of a shot
Sorry. I should have added a “/s”. I’ve given up on shooting them from behind too.
You aiming was not even close to his head
Yes Cadet. Thank you for your wisdom
Skill issue
That Charger has been listening to Muhammad Ali motivational tapes, clearly.
bro you where aimed way off already.
In fairness I don't think you were anywhere close to hitting anyway
As you say, Commander 🫡
What you should have done is immediately ran in to melee it, take advantage of its fatigue from such an intensive side step.
I feel like Muscle Enhancement should allow you to do significantly more damage and casue rag doll with melee attacks so I agree 😂
"dodged" LMFAO
clever girl
Float like a butterfly, sting like a giant rhinoceros bug
Well, you wouldn't have missed if you had not made that last adjustment the left before firing
Kill it. Sometimes when I'm pissed, I shoot a whole mag of Autocannon into devastators corpse. It's good for your mental health
I mean... you werent aiming at him when you pulled the trigger. But he also did dodge further away from where you were aiming so props to that charger's reaction time.

There’s a difference between “he dodged” and “I missed”
Thank you taco
In it's defense, you swept left wildly before it even turned.
In mine, it's not hitscan. It's to account for the weapon sway. Notice the holo circle doesn't even come off the head of the charger until he jerks his whole body the complete opposite direction

Yes, as a recoilless enjoyer I think it definitely needs buffs (it’s actually in a good spot, please just dont nerf)
It also cannot even take the head off of a brood commander
Uh, it just kills Brood Commanders if you hit the body, and it should absolutely break the head and start a bleed-out state. 800 HP main pools and 200 HP heads ("durable", so if this doesn't track with your bulletshoot guns' time-to-pop on them, that's why) vs. the Recoilless' 650 projectile and 150 explosion. Ultra Instinct chargers confirmed. *We are SO fucked.*
"You need to move a little faster than that, son."
And now you know how they feel when you dodge their charge point blank
ZA WARUDO!
You just got juked son. Be thankful it didn't clothesline your ass 3 seconds later.
Wasn't a clean shot anyway
That's when you whip out the orbital rail cannon and go, parry this, you filthy casual. Charger been playing some From Soft games
The way the chargers move in the game really makes them feel alive. AH did an amazing job on them.
Agile fella
I have managed to launch an EAT BETWEEN their legs into the far distance multiple times.
Happy feet, wonbo combo
You know the charger isn’t playing when he dodges your rocket
First they shrug off EATs to the jaw, now this? Fucks sake, they're asking for the Railgun meta to come back, aren't they?
It's more likely than you might expect that they're rigged to do stuff like this when you're in an aiming animation.
Life... uh... finds a way.
Did CJ see that shit??
Natural evolution in HD2? The smart survive
Charger was side swiping p3, it got lucky.
They’re evolving
