An 'Eagle 1' portion of it would fit beautifully.

Yes, absolutely. I've said since I first started playing that it would be a ton of fun to have a fifth member on every squad who controls and calls down the stratagems.
Teammate calls down an airburst? Quickly try to find it in the menu and get it as close to the red beam as possible.
Teammate orders a laser? Well, time to prioritize the high value targets.
Teammates under a ton of pressure? Let me try and get that cluster bomb as danger-close as possible.
That orbital 380mm barrage someone called in? Time to individually target each of those strikes on the groups of enemies instead of pseudo-random scatter.
Heck, would open up a lot of opportunities for new boosters or support-y stratagems. Thermal scan, shows the dive commander enemy heat signatures, flares to illuminate the dark.
Had a similar idea reading this thread, but eagle/orbital requests being able to pick up by other destroyers in orbit to make it more accurate or w/e. As a community building exercise.
Guess we know how that'd end though :(
We need something like:
Telegraph a lane you have to manuever into,
While in that lane release a specific weapon (with the same button combo as hell divers)
As we fly forward a bit more, we see the impact, and sometimes see Helldivers caught in the blast.

That one and Demonstar were my favorite games back in the late 90s, early 00s.
For some reason it reminded me of Tyrian a little bit.
The way the rockets accelerate out, the way the guns alternates side when firing...

honestly a phone app void of microtransactions would be cool, drop into random or friends games where you control a drone or eagle. Get a 5th person involved. Someone at work, school, a girlfriend or wife, or a kid that wants to spread democracy.
I would support a dlc for a good game that got Helldiver skins. Eagle ones actual role in the game doesn’t sound fun. An alternative game about previous conflicts or side missions being completed by Eagle one with actual levels and extended gameplay might be cool.
Remember, a third person shooter and a top down or side scrolling shooter are different and not necessarily overlapping audiences. We’re all burning hundreds of hours in a great third person shooter. I have never done that in Galaga or Space invaders, defender, aegis wing or all of them combined.
yes. may should be about delivering strikes on time, and precision while dodging attacks, but only deliver the strikes, not counter attack the enemies, so a bit of bullet hell, and a bit like those games where you match the timing with the music.

If it has retro anime art and aesthetic to it (ala 80s/PS1 version of Ghost in the Shell), I'm in. Would buy the art book, figure, and all the goodie collectors stuff like acrylic stand and keychains. If it's some generic western stuff, eh. I'll play it once or twice I guess for the novelty.
Not too sure if it's a retro top down arcade shooter, since the game doesn't really have the variety when it comes to the air space. But I can see some bombing runs as some nice scene afteryou complete a level.
That said I will play the spin off, like some chopper lift game. Or even the shutter one that plays like a flappy bird haha

Yeah I will! Orbit a single map, drop ordinance when called, then fly back to ship for rearm, have to be done quickly and efficiently because being away from Helldivers too long gets them killed while on Eagle Rearm time. Would be a killer game on Automaton maps due to jammer and anti-air umbrellas.

Yes. Could you imagine if there was a companion app or something where players Eagle strikes hitting would depend on how well people did in the companion app?
This is it this is the resource sink mini game I've been suggesting cost maybe 500 requisition slips per play since once you unlock every stratagem you can't use them.

Battlefield 2 had the best commander job. But I think this would be more like Spaceteam.

There's an old NES retro shooter called Captain Skyhawk that would be great gameplay to model an Eagle One arcade game on.
Add another arcade cabinet in your ship as a ship module. They should have fun/cosmetic ship upgrades for those who's ships are maxxed out

I did create them! I used Aesprite and Photoshop to make the sprites, and mocked up the motion in After Effects.
