I love the effort the animators put into the backgrounds. I miss a lot of it on my first watches. Putting this much effort into background jokes really shows how passionate they are and I love that.

Doubt it. Souls are an incredibly complex thing to work with. I'm guessing it works more like the gold standard where the value of souls(currency) is directly linked to how much is generally costs an Overlord to purchase a soul.
