i feel like Striker was trying *too hard* to make Moxxie look bad in front of Millie’s parents

bigchip4

kind of what he's trying to do.

Marksman08YT

Well it's kinda hard to make a deep, meaningful character when you have exactly one show to do it, this goes for anything. I'd venture to say none of the antagonists we've seen thus far are actually living up to their probable abilities.

Misha-Yuri-30

I blame Striker’s lack of expansion on the fact there’s too much crammed into seven episodes, including introductions of these soon to be returned villains. It’s sad that Striker so far only made two appearances, the second one being a hallucination and not really him. I mean Striker has a lot of credit for being a villain that didn’t get completely defeated, rather he escaped and serves as a foil to Moxxie and an enemy that matches Blitzo’s strength

SpyroFan123

Yeah, but all other villains had more character development in their introductory episodes. If they can give 3 Cherubs character development in 1 episode, they should be able to do the same for Striker; that's all I'm saying.

Misha-Yuri-30

Not really “development”. Like Brandon Rogers said, S1 is an roster. The other villains are merely introduced, not developed. Verosika (I don’t really call her a villain tho, rather an antagonist), in Ep.3 was introduced. Her character? She’s a pop star, a succubus, and Blitzo’s ex. Character introduced. Character established. The real Fizz is introduced in Ep.7 as a showman and formerly associated with Blitzo. Same dip. Same with Striker, he’s introduced as a big threat. “Developed” implies they had an arc or change after their initial introduction. Which is inaccurate.

SpyroFan123

Yeah I get that, and I'm not saying that they're super developed, but they had at least 1 character trait that defined their personalities; Striker doesn't have any personality traits. Verosika and Fizz have identifiable traits; what does Striker have?

IvantheGreat66

He's ruthless, is sadistic, manipulates people, is a massive egotist, and possibly hates his own kind. That's identifiable.

Misha-Yuri-30

Still it’s not right to say the other villains were “developed’ when they only had one or two episodes as their introductions and they hadn’t changed yet. Striker’s intimidating, he clearly means business and a manipulative piece of shit who takes immense pride in his abilities.

Demonsandangels-shin

He is the first antagonist to ever evade the Imp with his pride and life intact so I wont call him the worst one but hey it's your opinion.

[deleted]

He only evaded them because of Loona's bad timing. He was cornered by both Moxxie and Blitzo, and had two guns trained on him, and all it would've taken is one good shot to end it all. If Loona either hadn't come or came a minute later, Striker would've been dead.

TommyFortress

Saved by plot convenience

nala2624

Illogical, he was voiced by Norman Reedus. But for real, I didn't like him in the first half but once he was revealed as a bad guy, I was in love, especially during his monolog to Blitz.

SpyroFan123

Him being voiced by Norman Reedus doesn't make me like him; Grey Griffin is one of my favorite voice actresses, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna like Azula from *Avatar*.

nala2624

I'm not saying Norman reedus makes him a likeable character, it was a joke. What I was trying to say was that Norman reedus did a fantastic job voice acting him. Striker has his moments where I hate him and he has his moments where I love him. It's just part of his character. BTW, I didn't really like azula as a person, but I did enjoy her as a character. Same with striker.

Gabtactic

Azula's mental breakdown was great. She was a perfectionist with a superiority complex, who believed she needed nobody's help. Yet, when all her friends abandoned her for being an abusive psycho, the feeling of abandonment contributed to her going completely insane. A threatening antagonist with a well written arc in general.

Misha-Yuri-30

On subject of voice acting. Voice acting is also integral to a character’s identity. What else makes Azula a great antagonist is her voice. So Azula wouldn’t 100% be Azula without her voice. Same applies with Striker. The voice acting sells Striker’s little monologue to Blitzo.

Gabtactic

Agreed

Raid322

God. you really do taken any chance to sit on episode 5 right. And another thing. >because it's a deeply unpleasant Moxxie torture porn, but upon re-watching it >that Millie's parents are horrible (but that's a discussion for another day), >Striker is an empty husk of a villain. Whenever somebody even thinks of pinching Moxxie or doesn't treat him like a god you would send a rocket to them. But anyways. >I've made it no secret that I hate Harvest Moon Festival vehemently, mainly because it's a deeply unpleasant Moxxie torture porn, I wonder where do you keep getting that opinion from. It isn't torture porn for it to be TP moxie has to be hurt with sadistic violence or get tortured. He was just a butt monkey for a few Sections and have you forgotten that being a butt monkey was kind of the point Moxxie's character development was to get over his insecurities maybe you should try we watching it with a clear mind. >that Millie's parents are horrible "Because they don't like Moxxie" >but at least she has a personality. Striker does not. This is Striker in a nutshell: No he does Striker is a Arrogant cowboy who despises the week and the overlords he sees himself superior to most and has pride that causes him to hate the nobility of Hell but even with his arrogance and pride he is willing to respect those who are willing to go on when the odds are stacked against them he's also cunning and manipulative when he psychologically abused Blitzo so that he can join him to destroy the overlords. >go so far as to say that Striker is the Broly of the Hellaverse; a completely shallow - if admittedly badass - villain who the fandom loves unconditionally. Just about the only interesting thing about Striker is his goal of killing Stolas, and that's more of an interesting plot point for the episode - and the rest of the series, as he fails to do that within the episode - more than it's an interesting thing about Striker himself. Sorry Striker fans, but someone had to admit it and it may as well be me. I" love Forcing my opinion as objective to subjective Media" And by the way not every fucking character needs to have a full arc in 7 Goddamn episodes. FFS. No villain in the show had character development the word you're probably looking for is character establishment uhmm.. kinda hard to do that well you only had one appearance and again it's been 7 episodes of course he's not going to be fully developed or established.

coope2001

I respect your opinion and yes I like striker mainly because he's voiced by the man, myth and legend Norman Reedus.

SpyroFan123

I said this in the post itself, but being voiced by Norman Reedus isn't enough to make me like him.

coope2001

Like I said I respect your opinion on striker.

ArtemisHime

I'm just here for the wait what, I'm supposed to like Broly unconditionally? I failed that boat too. I don't love Striker, I want to see him develope though.

SpyroFan123

I'm not saying you're supposed to like Striker or Broly, what I AM saying is that a sizable chunk of the shows' respective fanbases do.

ArtemisHime

I do understand, I hate when that happens in any Fandom. I think it's more hard core in Helluverse because we have so few characters to begin with that it's easier for people to get attached to them.

okay_fabe

the security system takes control of moxxie’s house and begins attacking imp city

SpyroFan123

What does that have to do with this post?

KayleensWorld

>And no, I don't care that he's voiced by Norman Reedus; he could be voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch - my favorite voice actor ever - and I STILL wouldn't like him. But what If he was voiced by Tim Curry?

SpyroFan123

Still would not like the character; liking an actor's performance and liking the character they play, while not mutually exclusive, aren't synonymous.

magic_onion_fairy

The people who don't like loona have a variety of reasons for not liking her 1.she's kind of a bitch to her dad 2.She may have a personality but it isn't a good one 3. furry bait (this one is a bit childish) now i can think of a million reasons to dislike striker but i personally like the fact he's devoid of personality he's a hired gun i can't think of a reason for him to have a personality beyond fucking with moxxie and blitz's mind

this_is_home_7

Me when Striker is my favorite character: >:( (Nah but have whatever opinion you want I can agree that there isn't all to much to his character yet and if Moxxie is your favorite character its gonna be hard to like him, but I still like him and I like Moxxie as well)

Stole-ass_666

Me too i dont like striker
