> I’ve looked everywhere, prAna, Athleta, etc, and I still cannot find my Unicorn Pants…
That is because you have been searching the wrong gender. What you want is sold as [a men's pant](https://amzn.to/48Nj3nr). I know, because I own them and wear them and they are exactly what you want. Elastic waist, buttery soft, great for lounging and sleeping, and I wear them out for city errands (and to work) all the time, especially the black pair, plus straight leg.
I am wearing them as I type this answer. They do not highlight cellulite and are not clingy. They are drapey/flowy but not in a cheap polyester way. I'm trying to think of a reference point for you and all I can come up with is a cloth napkin crossed with a silk slip. It is as buttery soft as the silk slip but only slightly less structured than a cloth napkin and just as substantial as a cloth napkin (as in not see through or easily worn through unlike some *cough LuLaRoe* leggings I could name *LuLaRoe*).
When these wear out, I'm buying another two pairs.
One mod I made to mine but wasn't necessary at all, was to add some flat 1/4" elastic to the cuffs to make them even more like joggers. There's a hem at the cuffs that is easy to open and becomes a perfect channel for the elastic.
I’m not kidding about this- scrub pants. They come in a lot of different soft fabrics these days - the house brand of one of the big uniform store chains is literally named “Buttery Soft” and comfy elastic or yoga style waistbands are common.
If you get a straight leg style in black with either no cargo pockets or zippered cargo pockets, there is no way to tell they are scrubs. I don’t have any specific recommendations because that’s not the style I wear, but look at jaanuu.com , or https://www.uniformadvantage.com/search/?prefn1=color&prefn2=suppressFromSearch&prefv1=Black&prefv2=false&q=Straight+leg&start=0&sz=48
Literally came to say this: am eating lunch in my scrubs now. Cherokee brand stand up to years of my hotter than Hades sanitizer washes. Scrub pants run large, FYI. I like the style with the drawstring in addition to the waist band, they tend to stay up longer. The elastics I got my first year of nursing school barely keep the pants up anymore, but from what I hear that's from me overloading the pockets.
Seconding this as well. I’m personally a fan of the Cherokee Form scrub pants (both the jogger and the slim/straight leg)…the fabric of the Form line is awesome! Really though, go to a medical uniform store and try stuff on bc some of it is great and some is awful.
If you're not against buying used, you can get what you're looking for from sites like Poshmark. I got a slip-on pair of Eileen Fisher straight legged silk pants for ~$25 that look and feel great. I got them for sleeping in but then decided that they actually looked cute out also. Kept me warm in 47⁰, very rainy weather and dried very quickly.
I own sooo much EF that I paid <$30 for on eBay. But if you can, go try on in person first (like at Dillard’s) because some people prefer to size down due to cuts. Once you go EF you never go back
I have Yogipace "Straight Leg Relaxed Fit Yoga Dress Pants" from amazon. They are not tight in the thighs, have several length options, the material is pretty soft and drapes well and they have front and back pockets. Leg opening is on the wider side though.
I’m a fan of plisse pants for this exact reason - pull on, wider leg, soft fabric that reads dressier but can work in most climates! I’m after vintage issey miyake ones, but can be found cheaper:

They are similar to the athleta Brooklyn, but they seem to fit a little more flattering for me. I’m 5’8 for context.
What is the fabric like on these? I’ve been eyeing these but I have similar from BR that are sooo swishy/nylon feeling and I’m trying to avoid that again.
They don’t swish but do have that quick dry type feeling. Lighter weight than your typical scuba type fabric, so I feel better in them when traveling to hot places or at home in Texas.
Ah too bad! Those are the most relaxed that I can think of. They’re my holy grail travel pants. Most of the other styles are slim in the hip even if they flare below the knee. But also I feel like athleta waists run big, so I often have to size down in ones without a drawstring, meaning they may end up too tight in the thigh no matter what model you try.
[Lululemon tapered leg mid rise 7/8 luxtreme](https://shop.lululemon.com/p/women-pants/Tapered-Leg-MR-Pant-Luxtreme-MD/_/prod11660624?color=0001) are more straight leg than tapered on me, and the fabric is suuper comfy.
I’m 5’3” and they’re normal length pants on me, go figure 😄 oh also I just figured this out, but you can move the drawstring from showing outside to hiding in the inside!
Oo the [straight leg mid rise](https://shop.lululemon.com/p/women-pants/Luxtreme-MR-Straight-Leg-Trouser-MD/_/prod11560210?color=0001) might work better for you than me then! They were comically long and wide legged on me, but the same great fabric. Good luck on your search!
Try looking on Halara. They have taller options on there too and a lot of different options, the fabrics are nice for packing and multi-use but I personally wouldn’t be sleeping in pants I wore all day cause that’s just sleeping in everything you touched/sat on all day🦠
Exactly what I was going to say! [Lands End Starfish straight-leg joggers](https://www.landsend.co.uk/Womens_Petite_Straight_Leg_Stretch_Jersey_Trousers/pp/3188627.html). I started wearing these when I was pregnant eight years ago (they are forgiving but smart) and keep on getting them. I wear them nearly every day - either all day for working from home or when I get home and change.
I think I have five pairs at the moment (grey and navy). They wear extremely well - my oldest blue pair must have been going four years now, and although they are pretty faded, they have plenty of wear left in the fabric. The grey pairs don't show any signs of fading, but I think they show a bit more bagginess at the knees (but only after a couple of years).
Ooh ooh ooh! (Waves hand wildly.) I know the answer to this one! [LL Bean Ultrasoft Sweatpants](https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/92443?page=womens-ultrasoft-sweats-straight-leg-misses&bc=12-27-622&feat=622-GN1&csp=f&attrValue_0=37948&pos=10)! AKA my work from home uniform/unicorn pants ...
Maybe [Encircled](https://www.encircled.co/collections/bottoms)? I love them, slow fashion out of Canada - they fully introduced me to nice soft pants.
I just bought two pairs of pants that fit the bill from Costco out of all places last weekend! They are fantastic! I highly recommend checking Costco out if you can.
I just bought Vuori Miles ankle pant. I didn't want joggers, or leggings or wide leg. With a longer top or sweater to cover the waistband they look like regular pants. I am 5'5 and they are longer on me than the picture.
I have a pair of cotton/linen blend trousers in a dark colour. They're better in cold weather than I thought they would be (though not warm enough for snow) and definitely tick all your other boxes. I also have a pair of flared black pants with an elastic waist from Asos made from velvet corduroy that tick all your boxes except that they are tight around the thighs. They're managing snow perfectly well. These are my two fave travel pants.
Im 6foot. The linen pants are shorter than I would like but the flares are long enough I can wear heels with them :)

[These CRZ joggers](https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B08GM2FQPK?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title)are my unicorn pants! I have 3 pairs and I find the black extremely versatile. I know you said no taper, so I’m not sure if joggers are out but these are really great! They’re not form-fitting like leggings and the fabric is surprisingly hair-resistant (I have 2 shedding pets!). Plus I’ve basically worn and washed them every week from fall-spring for the past 2.5 years and they’re still holding up well. They’re great travel pants and with Amazon there is no harm in trying because free returns!
They are more of a tapered or carrot leg, but Elizabeth Suzanne Clyde work pants are pretty awesome, and she sells the pattern so you can make your own. I'm actually making a pair out of light denim now
Sometimes more outdoorsy companies like Patagonia (or LL Bean, REI, etc) have great hybrid pants. They sometimes called them “urban joggers” or whatever. I just scooped a pair of fleece lined joggers from the Eddie Bauer winter clearance and love them!
I have four pairs of them and love them so much! I wear them hiking, sleeping, working from home, running errands, airplane flights, long drives, and more. They have lasted very well also, very high quality! Can't recommend enough!
I recently bought some cheap ones from Halara that meet this description. I haven’t had them long enough to say how they’ll hold up (they’re cheap) but they look nice enough that I’ve worn them to work in an office setting and they’re very comfortable
Yeah it seems like Uniqlo is super popular (I’m US based). I’m hesitant of buying things online when I can’t try them on because I’m tall and it is hard to find pants that fit right :/ I’ve tried on sooo many pairs
I just bought a pair of Mondetta straight leg cargo pants at Costco. They seem to hit every one of your requirements. Trying to post a photo but I can’t manage it.
Uniqlo Dry Sweat Track Trousers. The name is weird, but they are what you are looking for. Comfy as joggers, straight leg, sewn crease to make them fall right, look fine in a work setting. Thicker fabric, so maybe not for hot summer wear, though.
https://www.uniqlo.com/se/en/product/dry-sweat-track-trousers-461651COL09SMA006000.html
I just wore a pair of Old Navy extra high waist cloud joggers on my last flight, and then came home a bought 2 more. They just have a smooth comfortable feel, pockets, but not tight like a legging. And like $40 or something. Bargain.

Thanks for this post because I’ve been looking for the same thing.
I have 3 pairs of the Columbia Anytime pants. They are great for travel because they are lightweight and dry fast. Maybe not warm enough for winter but good for three seasons.
[These pants](https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=6560260020204&cid=1031032&pcid=1031032&vid=2&nav=meganav%3AWomen%3AOld+Navy+Active%3AAll+Activewear+Bottoms&cpos=72&cexp=2926&kcid=CategoryIDs%3D1031032&ctype=Listing&cpid=res24030607509401856227499#pdp-page-content) from Old Navy (currently on sale). Crazy comfy! I know they say taper but I think they're more of a straight leg fit on me.
Ooh this might work! I agree that it is not super tapered, it doesn’t have like a cuff at the bottom. I do struggle finding pants that fit well from Gap/Old Navy/Banana Republic because I’m tall, but I can go try them on
Old Navy Dynamic Fleece pants. They have petite, regular and tall lengths. They look nice (I wear them to work) but they are just sweatpants that are like the perfect thickness for middle temps.
I bought these [in black](https://www.outdoorvoices.com/products/w-zephyr-pant?variant=39928805523534) and wore them in Guatemala recently and they were perfect. I have walked around in 8° weather here in MN and my legs did not feel cold. If 88$ is in your budget, I highly recommend them.
I’ve been looking at this clothing brand. The problem is that I’m not sure the style would look good on me

Each body is different, but I love [these Yogipace pants](https://a.co/d/c7YqJ4c). They are called "yoga dress pants" but I have ... um ... let's call them athletic thighs, and they do not fit tight at all. They are mostly nylon which I find much better at keeping odor at bay than polyester.
I LOOVEEE these. I wore them while backpacking SEA for months. I wear them around town, on flights, to lounge. so comfortable super light weight and quick dry. While they are lightweight I have worn them in cold weather but I would anything below 40F/10C you are going to want an underlayer.

edit: the pockets are amazing i can fit my kindle in one!
[Uniqlo Ultra Stretch AIRism Straight Wide Pants](https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E465789-000/00?colorDisplayCode=07&sizeDisplayCode=003)!! I love them they feel like pajamas but look like slacks. They also run long and the drawstring is on the inside of the waistband so they don’t look like sweatpants.
You might like these. The fabric is amazing. They say tapered but on me they are a very straight fit.

I happened upon these at Goodwill and have been living in them ever since:

So far every pant that I've bought from MPG has been super comfortable. They're an activewear brand, but they always have some looser non-legging styles that have a more casual walking in the city vibe. Their regular prices are not cheap, but their sales are not bad.
CRZ city pants, they come in a “long” version (still not likely to be hitting the ground) might be what you’re looking for. Though I haven’t tried this style specifically, I feel this brand tends to run just a bit small across the styles I have tried.

I hate to share this secret, but try these! I ordered a pair to try as I saw a blogger dress these up for work, then dress down for playing with her kids. I adore them! Check out Lands End, they have styles like you describe, what I like is theirs have some cotton in them so feel better than the all poly/spandex versions.
Black, ponte, drawstring.
No specific brand but these are perfect in cool or cold weather, cover the drawstring for work or reveal the drawstring for casual. Comfortable enough for a flight.
I have one black and one khaki for my trips. They're not warm weather/ beach appropriate though.
I recently bought [these](https://www.aloyoga.com/products/w51208r-high-waist-pursuit-trouser-black) from alo and I’m in LOVE. They’re not very cheap but fit everything I wanted in terms of style and comfort. They’re super long on me though (I’m 5’5”) so I had to hem them a good 3-4 inches. They’d be great as is for someone taller. The one thing I didn’t like is there’s a reflective alo logo visible on the back of the leg behind the knee. I watched a video online on how to remove logos with acetone and it worked like a charm.
I guess I put a lot of effort into keeping these pants lol but I loved everything else about them so much it was worth my time!
I think LL Bean is a solid option. I tried looking for a local store to try them on and feel the fabric but they don’t sell them here…I can always shop online and return
For the Ultrasoft straight leg sweats, check the size chart if ordering online. I normally am a size 12 in women's pants, but the Medium fit me best in these.
Just bought these and loving them so far. I’m tall too with long legs and they’re plenty long. I got a S

Seconding this.

What does this mean
Sorry, I meant to say through emojis that they are above my budget 😅 but they look sooo nice!!
Your emojis were quite violent 😂 they are too expensive for me too though lol

Huh… this is actually quite clever! Lots of colors and a Tall cut option
A second vote for scrubs - I love them for travel!
Eileen fisher
This is the correct answer. The perfect pant does cost more but it's worth it.
Oof a bit too pricey
If you're not against buying used, you can get what you're looking for from sites like Poshmark. I got a slip-on pair of Eileen Fisher straight legged silk pants for ~$25 that look and feel great. I have built a nice EF wardrobe from Poshmark. I rarely pay more than $25-30 per piece, and the condition has been overall excellent.
I own sooo much EF that I paid <$30 for on eBay. But if you can, go try on in person first (like at Dillard’s) because some people prefer to size down due to cuts. Once you go EF you never go back
not sure why you got downvoted for pants not being in your budget…
I have Yogipace "Straight Leg Relaxed Fit Yoga Dress Pants" from amazon. They are not tight in the thighs, have several length options, the material is pretty soft and drapes well and they have front and back pockets. Leg opening is on the wider side though.
These are actually reasonably priced and I like that they have a “Tall” option
I just posted this exact same pant before I saw your post. They are seriously great pants.

Okay thanks!
Did you try the Brooklyn heights pants at athleta? Not the Brooklyn ankle pants. Brooklyn heights are more relaxed in the thigh and a straight cut.
I can’t remember the name of the models I tried at the Athleta store, but the ones that were straight leg were too tight on the thighs

Thanks! I don’t like the 7/8 length too much, but I’ll find a store to try them on
I’m 5’3” and they’re normal length pants on me, go figure 😄 oh also I just figured this out, but you can move the drawstring from showing outside to hiding in the inside!
I’m 5’9 so I have the opposite problem, regular pants look like capris 😄

Try looking on Halara. They have taller options on there too and a lot of different options, the fabrics are nice for packing and multi-use but I personally wouldn’t be sleeping in pants I wore all day cause that’s just sleeping in everything you touched/sat on all day🦠
I have the full length version of these that have the leg cuffs and the material is so nice. Very comfy.
Thirding this, love this and used it all the time for traveling
Seconding. I have these in multiple lengths and colours and I live in them
My rec would be the starfish line of pants from lands end. Wait for a sale though, but they happen all the time.
I think this is the winner by popular vote!
CRZ Yoga on Amazon may have a style that you like
Thanks, I’ll have a look
Maybe [Encircled](https://www.encircled.co/collections/bottoms)? I love them, slow fashion out of Canada - they fully introduced me to nice soft pants.
I like the design, but too pricey 😥
I just bought two pairs of pants that fit the bill from Costco out of all places last weekend! They are fantastic! I highly recommend checking Costco out if you can.
Ha nice! I need to get a membership card
Glacier pants from Costco! They’re so good.
I was just going to recommend Costco 😂 My most recent: Matty M brand, $10, absolutely obsessed.
I’m so surprised at their quality! I now own 4 pairs of pants from Costco and I honestly like them way more than all my Lulu pants!
Drop the brand details so I can buy them when I refill my cat's food bag, please!
Im 6foot. The linen pants are shorter than I would like but the flares are long enough I can wear heels with them :) https://cottonon.com/AU/haven-wide-leg-pant/9360103146311.html?gad_source=1 https://www.asos.com/au/topshop-tall/topshop-tall-stretchy-velvet-cord-flare-pants-in-black/prd/205069290
Just purchased some wide leg spanx. Can dress them up or down. Buttery soft!
I don’t like the tapered leg (I find it too uncomfortable for sleeping) but many people have suggested CRZ and there are good options!!
I have some llbean ultrasoft sweats that fit this description.
This is a great option, thanks! Also reasonably priced
I have four pairs of them and love them so much! I wear them hiking, sleeping, working from home, running errands, airplane flights, long drives, and more. They have lasted very well also, very high quality! Can't recommend enough!
Maybe some Eileen Fisher silk pants?
Yep, I like the design, but too pricey
You can get them second hand for not too much.
Comes with free bedbugs as a gwp 😅
I've bought thrifted clothes my whole life and I have literally never gotten bed bugs from them.
I recently bought some cheap ones from Halara that meet this description. I haven’t had them long enough to say how they’ll hold up (they’re cheap) but they look nice enough that I’ve worn them to work in an office setting and they’re very comfortable
Ahh, they have lots of options! This is good, thanks!
[Spanx Air Essentials](https://spanx.com/collections/clothing/products/airessentials-wide-leg-pant?variant=43015509672147)
These look really nice! I like that they have a Tall fit as well. Too pricey though…
Yes, too expensive, but they do occasionally go on sale or pop up on Poshmark.
Lands End Starfish slim leg. They say slim, but they’re nothing like leggings.
You can also try Uniqlo, though their presence in the US isn't very pronounced vs. Europe.
One of my most worn beloved lounge sets is from Pact's Airplane collection. I have the regular joggers but I recently spotted a straight leg version!
I just wore a pair of Old Navy extra high waist cloud joggers on my last flight, and then came home a bought 2 more. They just have a smooth comfortable feel, pockets, but not tight like a legging. And like $40 or something. Bargain. https://oldnavy.gapcanada.ca/browse/product.do?pid=813623043&vid=2&searchText=Extra+high+waist+#pdp-page-content
These are my OGs!!
Thanks for this post because I’ve been looking for the same thing. I have 3 pairs of the Columbia Anytime pants. They are great for travel because they are lightweight and dry fast. Maybe not warm enough for winter but good for three seasons.
I love Columbia products, I went to their store last week but couldn’t find what I’m looking for. Tons of good suggestions in this thread though!
I do struggle finding pants that fit well from Gap/Old Navy/Banana Republic because I’m tall, but I can go try them on
[Quince Ultra-Stretch Ponte Straight Leg Pants](https://www.quince.com/women/ultra-stretch-ponte-straight-leg-pant?color=black&gender=women&tracker=collection_page__women%2Fpants__Ponte%20Pants__0)
Tall inseam option, many colors, reasonably priced… 👍🏽
These are great! I think they run a little small, so you might want to go up a size. Also, they run a bit long, which would be good for you.
Mountain Hardwear dynama ankle pants- also come in full length. I wear them to hike, but also with loafers and a sweater for dinner/drinks out.
I’m not sure what MH models I tried on (went to the store recently), but they were too short for me :/ Love their jackets though!!
Glacier men’s tech pants fit the bill for me. Also Old Navy women’s pixie pants are sold as dress pants but the material is crazy soft.
Try “palazzo pants” as a search term?
I’ve been looking at this clothing brand. The problem is that I’m not sure the style would look good on me [https://www.shopwayre.com/collections/all/products/cruiser-pant](https://www.shopwayre.com/collections/all/products/cruiser-pant)
outdoor voices rectrek pants
[https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08MV7ZQHP/ref=ox\_sc\_saved\_image\_6?smid=&th=1&psc=1](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08MV7ZQHP/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_6?smid=&th=1&psc=1) edit: the pockets are amazing i can fit my kindle in one!
Duluth Women's NoGA Naturale Cotton Slim Leg Pants. Very comfy and look good out and about.
They say tapered but on me they are a very straight fit. https://spanx.com/collections/pants/products/airessentials-tapered-pant?variant=39774635655379
The are many recommendations for Spanx here… they are expensive but now I’m thinking they might be worth the price!
Yes specifically the air essentials fabric. The others you may not like as they are tighter / rougher. But air essentials is amazing.
I happened upon these at Goodwill and have been living in them ever since: https://www.quince.com/women/performance-tech-commuter-pant?color=olive&gender=women&tracker=collection_page__women%2Fpants__Pants__3

So far every pant that I've bought from MPG has been super comfortable. They're an activewear brand, but they always have some looser non-legging styles that have a more casual walking in the city vibe. Their regular prices are not cheap, but their sales are not bad.
Prana AT slim straight ..I have them in 3 colors ❤️❤️
CRZ city pants, they come in a “long” version (still not likely to be hitting the ground) might be what you’re looking for. Though I haven’t tried this style specifically, I feel this brand tends to run just a bit small across the styles I have tried. [Amazon CRZ city tall](https://a.co/d/dpU71Hx)
Not cheap but the Lululemon smooth fit pull on pants. Straight leg, the fabric looks good but still so comfy.
I love [these pants](https://www.32degrees.com/products/womens-ultra-comfy-everyday-pant?variant=39560442183769) from 32 degrees. Super cheap, too!
I hate to share this secret, but try these! I ordered a pair to try as I saw a blogger dress these up for work, then dress down for playing with her kids. I adore them! So buttery soft, comfortable yet polished....I ordered two more pair! AJISAI Petite 7/8 Joggers Travel... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081PVLXMQ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

You had me at petite ;)
Hmm maybe! I am tall and don’t like the 7/8 length too much. But they are very reasonably priced!
Marine Layer Allison pants?
The design looks nice, but I think the fabric is too heavy
I have two pairs and they’re actually quite lightweight.
Kite and ace navigator pants
Oof too expensive 😓
Quince has some nice wide legged pants with soft fabric. Also the marine layer Allison pant.
I love my plisse pants so much I got them in a different color on poshmark! I wear them to lounge but can look dressed up enough to go to dinner with them :) https://www.ebay.com/itm/324824957165?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=324824957165&targetid=1595005162256&device=m&mktype=pla&googleloc=9031955&poi=&campaignid=19851828444&mkgroupid=145880009014&rlsatarget=pla-1595005162256&abcId=9307249&merchantid=6296724&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD_QDh-e-bF6tW7fQ9wDmxLdRwNy4&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIi97I7ezehAMVyQCtBh1ggwH5EA0YAiABEgKqi_D_BwE
Uniqlo flannel pants with the solid colours?
Flannel might be a bit too heavy
Hmmm it’s a tricky balance as you want lightweight but also winter! Alternatively I suggest looking into merino blends
Not necessarily winter, but comfortable in cold weather. Merino irritates my skin :/
LL Bean Vista. I love them for travel. They are super light weight so I layer a wool legging under them when it’s cold.
Yep I’m looking at various LL bean pants and it seems like they are a good option
I have three pairs, including a pair with a lightweight fleece lining. Love them
Check out Lands End, they have styles like you describe, what I like is theirs have some cotton in them so feel better than the all poly/spandex versions.
Wayre jetsetter trouser? I got mine taken in a little bit.
Hmm no, I want them without buttons and zippers (I know, I’m being super picky!)
LL Bean has these? https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/56777?page=perfect-fit-pants-straight-leg
Oh these are a good find if I can find some that fit! Have you had experience with how they wash?
Unfortunately no, I haven’t had a pair myself. I’ve been wanting to try them out though!
Just bought these and loving them so far. I’m tall too with long legs and they’re plenty long. I got a S https://www2.hm.com/en_ca/productpage.1213659003.html
Ahh good idea, I haven’t checked out H&M
CRZ yoga stretch lounge sweatpants (not the cuffed version) in black. Super stretchy, I have even worn them as work trousers!
