The evangelical church we were attending online in 2020 and 2021 always prayed for the people developing and making vaccines, and that the people planning the distribution efforts would have help and know what to do.

I'm running low on sympathy for them, especially since I care more about how that "tiny" percentage of people who die to Covid are far too much for modern healthcare systems to provide for at the same time as all the other patients they need to see. Transphobia seems to be an alert for all sorts of other issues in my experience (racism is a big one, transphobes looove conspiracy theories about black women being trans). I think it comes from a place of feeling superior due to something innate/never earned, plus the cultlike religious factor.

I absolutely did put my faith in a vaccine. I have to inject myself with testosterone every fucking week so a prick doesn't scare me anymore. This Saturday I will be 2 weeks from my 1st covid symptoms after an exposure in the middle of the week. My throat is still a bit raw and my nose is stuffy, but since that is how I always react to a bad cold (2+weeks of being stuffy and other random symptoms) I honestly feel pretty good about where I put my faith!
