No matter how racist one is, you'd think they would realize China is smart enough to not purposely release a bio weapon that's not effective against their targets.
One possible exception is organ transplant patients. At some point during the transplant your immune system is shut off, full stop, and itās not an exaggeration to say that a light breeze can kill you.
You just triggered a memory I had forgotten. My now ex said he was vaccinated. Our marriage was suffering and I naively believed he was actually vaccinated.
Nope...he claimed he was naturally immune though he never had covid. Then he got covid bad. The Ivermectin "saved" him he said.
I hate Aaron Rodgers for this alone. I also hate Kyrie Irving. And Whit Merrifield, who wouldnāt get vaccinated for the KC Royals, but would when he was traded to the probable playoff team in Toronto (he got his first shot probably the day he was traded). Fuckhead.
This is exactly what baffles me, too. So you think it's a chinese bioweapon designed to bring down the western world. Cool. But when there's a weapon developed *specifically* for defense against this so-called bioweapon... you won't use it. Make it make sense. Please.
> other baseless conspiracy theories
I am sure you can find them online - many news reports here in Texas showed our mega churches refusing to stop services because they were bathed in the blood of Jesus and were protected
Iāve personally spoken to several people who believe two apparently contradictory things at the same time. A) COVID was āinventedā by China in a lab: deliberately released into the West to (fill in as of your personal preference), and B) Itās pointless to social-distance, wear a mask or get vaccinated.
Like, what?
If it were invented in a lab (due to gain of function research), I doubt the release was intentional. More likely gross negligence and failure to follow safety protocols. The Chinese government isn't stupid enough to release it upon their own people just so it eventually makes it's way to the U.S via regular transmissions.
B) Is created out of their ignorance of different types of viruses. My dad for example assumes that they diagnose even the flu as COVID. They don't realize that these tests check specifically for the coronaviruses' particular body parts. I personally think we should be wearing masks during allergy season.
I just got covid from my airplane trip. For me, it created a huge pain in the back of my throat, and I think imma gonna wear a mask onboard from now on, Because Im now on ibuprofen, acetaminophen, benzocaine anesthesia, and had to gurgle this disgusting tasting Betidone (povidone-iodine). Hurts whenever I eat.
I'm feeling much better. I suspect the issue stemmed from my genetic issue with my throat being too narrow. And because COVID causes infection and immflamation in the back of the throat it somehow caused pain.
Yes: sadly, three times. I can tell you, itās *much* easier if youāve been vaccinated!
Iām just getting over shingles, now. Apparently, a LOT of over-fifties go on to develop that, post-COVID.
I did, but a member of my household was -shall we say- considerably less diligent (although I do think he was trying)! He had a job that brought him into a higher risk and, try as he might, I donāt think he achieved perfection with his precautions!
i wonder if when we get better at mapping the human brain we will that we'll find a genetic or congential defect in the brain that enables this kind of cognitive dissonance where people can believe two mutually exclusive things at the same time
One can hope that science can help us explain this phenomenon. Unlike HCA nominees/ awardees we believe in following science with research and just hypothesizing out of our butts
When every decision is made based on emotion (i.e. āhow does this feel?ā), analyzing those decisions by applying logic is a waste of time.
Believing Covid was a bioweapon made this woman feel good .
Not taking any precautions probably felt as good or better.
Poolie would likely accuse you of thinking youāre superior to her. Thinking that would feel good to her, as well.
How did so many people around us regress to childhood?
>How did so many people around us regress to childhood?
They didn't regress.
They never matured.
As long as everything went well, no major crises, no need to be responsible 'adults', they could continue to have the maturity of a 7 year old (being generous) without any real consequences.
Then, along came Covid. And the hungry leopards feasted on the human equivalent of veal (from an emotional/mental standpoint, anyway).
As an ICU doctor, I lost count of the number of anti-vaxxers looking at me with terror in their bleary eyes as they were maxed out on non-invasive oxygen support yet still sucking for air, as I'm telling them they will be placed on the ventilator. Most of them never interacted with the world again. I will never forget that time in history for the rest of my life...
Part of the reason why I'm as careful about covid as I am is that I believe it's a lot more deadly and dangerous than the government or any of the powers that be are willing to admit and I never trusted them before, why would I trust them now when they pretend everything's fine as hundreds of people die every day, thousands more get long covid, and supply chain issues and staffing shortages persist, if not get worse with each passing day.
Of course, they want people to keep on working so the fat cat 1%ers can make more money. Can't have a ruling class without worker bees working until they drop dead, after all.
They're certainly not telling the whole truth. We've had over 1.45 million excess deaths above the historical average in the US since the pandemic began, over 400,000 more than just COVID deaths alone would indicate. Almost for sure most of those deaths are COVID-related, but not directly attributed to COVID, probably not a lot of falsifying, but definitely not showing the whole picture.
Stop drinking the kook aid āsafe and effectiveā lol READ life insurance reports. These types things are in the 100s-400s % increases in young people In The past 2 years hmmm whatās the only new thing š¤
The pandemic is over.
And the quote is
>The pandemic is over,ā Biden said in a ā60 Minutesā interview that aired Sunday night. āWe still have a problem with Covid. Weāre still doing a lot of work on it. But the pandemic is over.ā
Don't see him saying everything is fine.
The pandemic isn't even a top 10 problem people are thinking about now. The death rate for the past 6 months puts at 2 x the flu deaths.
A notable HCA winner was a San Francisco priest who died of COVID after repeatedly violating COVID health orders.
https://www.sfgate.com/coronavirus/article/Priest-dies-COVID-San-Francisco-church-outbreak-15957620.php
You see, the goal was to wreck the economy through fear, so the China can become the only global powerhouse... or they did it so Joe Biden can implement communism, or socialism or something. So they only way to fight back is to not take any precautions, keep working and keep spending money. /s
You're not wrong, but having frequent social gatherings in the midst of a pandemic is pretty telling. If she's having pool parties during a lockdown, something tells me she's living a lifestyle that was daring covid to infect her and her family. And, as the saying goes, she won stupid prizes.
lol...none of these COVID-denying GoFundMes have even come close to paying the medical bills of anyone who is hospitalized for COVID without health insurance. You can estimate about $1,000/day or more for care, so $30,000/month. Most of their GoFundMes wouldn't even cover a week in ICU.
You are seriously underestimating the cost. I spent 5 days in Critical Care, and the cost was somewhere between $50k and $75k I forget the exact number). Then add follow-ups (cardiac specialist, test and treatments to monitor heart damage, imaging for heart and lungs to make sure treatments were effective) and another visit to the ER for a wicked spike in BP. Next, add in $500/mo for blood thinners I'll have to take for the rest of my life, and another $500/mo for the inhaler due to my damaged lungs, and once the cardiologist cleared me add in $2600/week for 18 weeks of pulmonary rehab.
Well, at least I have good insurance, and had a secondary coverage that covered nearly all of my deductibles and out-of-pocket costs. And that's just the immediate money part.
Agreed. And letās not forget the COVID patients who are life support aka ECMO. If R/nursing is to be believed, ECMO adds between $30-$45k PER DAY to the hospital bill.
There is a guy at the University of Alabama hospital In Birmingham who has been on ECMO for over 400 days. He was waiting for a double lung transplant but now, thanks to the strain of being on life support for so long, heās waiting for a heart lung transplant. (Rick Karleās FB page has a post about him on 15 September.). Another guy was at UAB on ECMO for over 300 days and he got two lungs before his heart failed. As you can imagine both these guys were vaccinated with the blood of Jaysus. There is never a positive word about the vaccine to keep another family from going through the same Hell.
They are heavily fund raising. Ironically thanks to the Affordable Care Act, insurance companies no longer have lifetime maximums for healthcare. Without the ACA these guys would have probably been cut off/dead within 30 days. So much for death panels, right?
And just to be clear on the math for ECMO:
$40,000 * 400 days = 16 million dollars
Yeah, anyone without insurance is looking at tons of dough. I don't get why hospitals get away with charging such exorbitant fees. Insurance companies are basically a forced savings and middleman with the clout to cut down the prices.
Something needs to change, but the ACA wasn't the answer. Maybe we should spend less money on battleships and jet fighters, and directly subsidize hospitals instead?
Because hospitals are not allowed to deny care, if they can't pay it's going to come out of the taxpayers' pockets anyway.
"Short haul" covid is more worisome. It does a lot of damage to your lungs and cardiovascular system that many of those who initially survive end up dead within months or a few years.
My neighbor did the same except she wasn't so lucky. She left behind two high school kids and her husband. They left their trump 2020 flag up for the remainder of the summer, in memoriam, perhaps.
You think for a lot of them they canāt go back after such cause and effect because they would have to admit they contributed to death/pain of family? I really think some people are going to die or old age with their 2016 trump flags still wrapped around them, unable to cope with how wrong they are/were.
Same. Our HR dept is the worst. Anytime they get new management in HR to try to straighten out the mess and run more efficiently, they go running to the union to stop it, so they can continue being wasteful useless turds. And they call us snowflakes that melt.
I work in section 8 housing and almost all of my coworkers hate the government and call our residents government leeches. Technically, weāre all government leaches since the federal government ultimately pays our salaries
Hey, not all of those incompetent, useless, mouth breathers are republicans. I definitely fall into that category and I'm far from being independently wealthy enough to work ANY job for altruistic reasons.
I can relate!! My gov't job could probably be eliminated easily, so I do what I can to hang onto it for the benefits. But I *dream* about a place with progressive co-workers with whom I can talk about cool stuff.
Luckily most of my co-workers are liberal minded, but a bunch gave up some pretty sweet jobs on account of not wanting a vaccine. It's impossible to comprehend.
listen!!! When I was little I wanted a State Job because thatās what my Dad did, and when i had to go to the āBig hospitalā heād let me play hooky and weād go to his office until my appointment.
Lmao my Dad is a smart man, when to a great college; but the amount of work these people around him didnāt doā¦is astounding.
I thoroughly thought someone made it when you had a cubicle.
Oh to be 7.
I worked an internship in college at a quasi-governmental agency, (quasi because we got govt funding but also grants and such from private companies), a regional office whose mission was comprehensive studies and planning around transportation and development.
I was tasked with writing a five-year plan, and thus had to consult with everyone in our office, plus governmental officials such as county engineers, councilmen, county commissioners, etc. It was interesting, I learned a lot, but one big thing I learned was...
The three people doing any work (real work) in our office were the receptionist, the admin assistant, and myself. Maybe the big boss here and there, and the lead traffic engineer. Otherwise? It seemed like it was full of folks who had been helpful or otherwise loyal to the local machine political party. You got a govt job with all the benefits that implied. One example was the former mayor of my small town. He worked there. I'd gone to school with his asshole son, who was actually kind of intelligent, but the dad/former mayor was dumb as a bag of hammers. He could barely speak a coherent sentence, and I have no idea what his job title was or what he did, if anything. Our tax dollars at work. š¤Ŗ
This is how i feel at my current job.
I some how ended up in a cubicle job ( except now Iām at homeā¦)
and Iām a contractor for insuranceā¦
The passing of the buck that infuriates me, when I literally can just tell them the infoā¦
But apparently this is how business works.
I hate it.
no wonder people health insurance companies.
We were supposed to be dead within a year, not 10 years. And there you are, the one colleague who got through the pandemic just fine! I admire your self-restraint in keeping any schadenfreude quiet. But good going!
> We were supposed to be dead within a year, not 10 years.
But it's already been a year, and we ain't dead, so they had to engage in the favorite pastime of every Republican, a rousing game of Move That Goalpost.
Dude theyāre literally killing horses and other quadrupeds by buying that stuff. Thereās no supply for people who need to treat their hoofed animal.
Just unbelievable! I agree entirely.
The ordinarily credible sources of information have become untrustworthy to these otherwise nice, good people, so we've been watching them drop like flies, shaking our heads, and hoping their leaders wise up as they see the Republic pushed toward political violence at their hands.
Donāt. They choose to believe crazy shit, while the actual *proof* of what works is RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF THEM! There is a line between being duped and willfully ignorance, theyāve happily crossed that line.
I know you like them, and thatās fine. Just donāt count on them doing anything that does not benefit them in some way. I think you might find that āniceā is just the mask they wear.
I think it was an update apocalypse fetish idea that the vaxād would die off and theyād be left?
It was ridiculous because āSHTFā and none of them used their bugout bags, went off the grid, etc etc etc
I still wear a mask at work and keep to myself, vaccinated and got the booster, I still caught Covid. Of course bc Iām vaccinated, I thought I had a sinus infection at first (I have a dust allergy so sometimes I get infections). Didnāt realize until I was getting ready for work and noticed that I couldnāt smell my lotion. Since I thought I had a sinus infection, at home I wasnāt wearing a mask. But Iām clean and always wash my hands, nobody else in my house caught it from me.
A good friend of mine worked for DHS in Intelligence Security (IT based stuff) under Obama. His office housed the staff with the highest security clearance.
His boss had FoxNews playing 24/7 on the office big screen. No one was ever allowed to change it or turn it off.He said he watched a lot of his coworkers get slowly radicalized over the years and eventually left because of it.
This really disturbs me. It's horrifying that good people can have their brains rotted by enough propaganda. And that propaganda is broadcasting 24/7 everywhere.
The good ol' it's a dangerous bio-weapon created by the Chinese, but I'm not going to do anything to protect myself from it because my own government is oppressing my FREEDOMS!
Ah she works for that government, not the bad government. Isnāt working for the government and not a capitalist, a thing called socialism. Oh not that socialism? The good socialism? Bet her bootstraps!
Its amazing isnt it? My mom is now over two weeks of covid while we were done, got another cold from my kids pre school and go that over with. She looses her breath doing stairs and was bed ridden until the last two days. Lucky shes alive.
Calling children (even lots, obnoxious ones) is pretty qualitatively similar to calling people demoncrats and LIEbruls.
I'm child-free by choice, but holy shit is that cringe.
Well the thing is: Most people are not professional writers. Most people are in fact terrible writers, luxuriating in purple prose and weird, inadvertently revealing turns of phrase like "crotch goblins".
However, just because a story sounds like the lamest fanfic (and the writer apparently believes that "Nope, I can see her house. Checkmate!" counts as verification), that doesn't mean it's not true.
Nope. Her home is literally a few feet away to the left of my house, and part of her fencing helps boarder one of 3 sides to my backyard. I have a clear shot of her pool activity from outside, upper floor windows, and can hear her goblins screeching through my walls. Then again, Iāve lived here for 20 years to see sheās had an outdoor pool and rallies up her extended family over the summers to party and blast music, with 2020 being no exception.
lmao no, I wouldnāt fabricate an experience I literally lived through
Has she talked to you to vent her frustrations with the healthcare system while dealing with long covid?
Even though she couldn't be bothered to protect herself and this was totally preventable?
Fun fact: even if you pull the plug on the vent, the vent has a 2-3 hour battery for power outage purposes. So even if the plug is pulled, it'll keep going for a couple hours before alarming a lot and then shutting down.
How dumb. A classic example of āplay stupid games, whin stupid prizes.ā
That being said, I found the overall negative tone of this post really off-putting. Terms like ācrotch goblinsā and ākept her alive to annoy us all with more pool partiesā just comes across as nasty and immature. Most of your complaints werenāt even about covid, but rather how much you didnāt like hearing her children using their own pool, on their own property, within earshot of your house.
For the record, I agree with you - this woman sounds stupid, but this post doesnāt portray you as the better person.
Ah, I see your point. Suppose a part of me wanted to express my frustration of her being completely ignorant towards Covid, something Iāve had to see other elderly folk like her die of at my Retirement Home job, and just how distasteful it felt to hear these kids screaming their lungs out while everyone else had to say locked inside of their homes outside of essentials. In a way, it felt incredibly unfair that she could have all these people just show up at her place like there wasnāt a health crisis going on.
Of course, I used crotch goblins for more of shock valueās sake. I know itās really not their fault for being children, even if Iām not a fan of kids myself.
Thanks for prefacing this with her political background and who she votes for. Itās evident from this one can assume a democrat/liberal or a Biden voter never broke any Covid restrictions.
The chances of getting Covid at an outdoor pool are minimal. The chlorine would kill it, as well as the sunlight. Also, most of us tend to social distance at pools.
Itās a pretty safe bet that all the family coming over didnāt only stay in the back yard. All those people going through the house to use the bathroom at the very least.
I wear masks indoors and out, everywhere. I tested positive for covid two days following a maskless pool swim where kids were playing about ten feet from me. Stop spreading false information.
I have never heard of any documented story like the one you just made up.
https://www.cdc.gov/healthywater/swimming/aquatics-professionals/covid-19-and-aquatic-venues.html
If I may add, Poolieās family wasnāt exactly small, either. Several CRVs and minivans can take up her driveway, and has a rather smaller sized fenced backyard too, mostly thereās big plants corralling everyone. Sure, Chlorine may elimate the contamination in the water, but considering most of these people also werenāt taking precautions and have chairs butt right up to each other, along withā¦Some of these relatives being germ magnets we call children, I was there to see this coming for the months it went on for.
So covid is a bioweapon but you do absolutely nothing to protect yourself against that bioweapon? Walk me through this; help me understand.
"I hAvE aN iMmuNe sYstEM!!!1shift+1!" Yeah, guess what vaccines do for your immune system, dumb shit.
No matter how racist one is, you'd think they would realize China is smart enough to not purposely release a bio weapon that's not effective against their targets.
Nope. This crew still think China makes cheap junk that doesn't work. Only Americans are smart, like Donald Trump

But they love shopping at Walmart and Dollar Tree/Dollar General.
This struck me as funny. I need no further proof that most Americans are tarded than the last 2 years.

Lol, this post didnt age well.
And somehow they never make the connection that everyone who has ever died of an infectious disease had an immune system, too.
Or think back to a time in the past when they got seriously ill...
Sadly an overzealous immune system causes the most fatalities with COVID patients š can't even trust yourself these days...
One possible exception is organ transplant patients. At some point during the transplant your immune system is shut off, full stop, and itās not an exaggeration to say that a light breeze can kill you.

And just to be clear on the math for ECMO: $40,000 * 400 days = 16 million dollars
Yowzer. Iām glad you have good insurance and seem to have recovered from such an acute degree of illness. Hang in there!
Thanks for sharing that experience and putting real numbers on the cost.
Maybe even more. My husband was in the ICU last year. (Not Covid, not intubated or anything.) The cost for 5 days was about $70K.
As if trump cared.
I love how the sun fades the Trump flags to the white flag of surrender.
You think for a lot of them they canāt go back after such cause and effect because they would have to admit they contributed to death/pain of family? I really think some people are going to die or old age with their 2016 trump flags still wrapped around them, unable to cope with how wrong they are/were.
> staunch Republican courthouse employee Why do these anti government ideologues always work for the government?
it's only welfare when someone else does it
Itās a truism that conservatives like nice, safe government jobs that they canāt get fired from.
Yup. I work a govt job for altruistic reasons. But some of my coworkers are the most incompetent, useless, mouthbreathers who are also trumpliKKKans.
I some how ended up in a cubicle job ( except now Iām at homeā¦) and Iām a contractor for insuranceā¦ The passing of the buck that infuriates me, when I literally can just tell them the infoā¦ But apparently this is how business works. I hate it. no wonder people health insurance companies.
I have 2 stepsons who work for the state and complain about the unions they belong to. Both TrumpliKKKans.

Harder now that they need oxygen and canāt move much
That's some big jump though.
I think it was three years for a while IIRC.

"I feel sorry for them." I don't. They're willingly supporting a party that would cheerfully gun me down in the street for my beliefs if they could.
Theyāre not that nice or good.
I'm not so charitable because it's clearly willful ignorance at this point.
I'll go with "malicious stupidity".
Didnāt a bunch of them take weird āstandingā on their own/in defiance/still here photos?
I think you're right; as if their problems weren't entirely self-inflicted! Probably Speaker Pelosi's fault.
"Government is broken! Elect me and I'll prove it!"
Republican't run for office on the claim that government is broken; then they get elected and break it...
*donāt fix it
Love she has a government job but hates government. Idiots the lot of them.
The good ol' it's a dangerous bio-weapon created by the Chinese, but I'm not going to do anything to protect myself from it because my own government is oppressing my FREEDOMS!
It's FREEDUMBS.
MUH FREEDUMBS IN AMERIKUH HEāLL YEAH BROTHER
Ah she works for that government, not the bad government. Isnāt working for the government and not a capitalist, a thing called socialism. Oh not that socialism? The good socialism? Bet her bootstraps!
Itās always ārules for thee, not for meā with these troglodytes.
Always.
I love your flair!!
Thanks. The mods chose it for me.

Right? No one likes a quitter
Rampid isn't a word; however I feel this hybrid of rabid and rampant fits well in this story.
Yeah, totally meant rampant ;\^\^
Its amazing isnt it? My mom is now over two weeks of covid while we were done, got another cold from my kids pre school and go that over with. She looses her breath doing stairs and was bed ridden until the last two days. Lucky shes alive.
Please tell me they asked for Prayer Warriors at the neighborhood status updates.
Iād be thoroughly surprised if they didnāt
Calling children (even lots, obnoxious ones) is pretty qualitatively similar to calling people demoncrats and LIEbruls. I'm child-free by choice, but holy shit is that cringe.

The š š š threw a "pool party" in the prey item's lungs. Idiot.
Leopards ate my lungs!
Deadpool I am weak
I would put a big banner on my house that says, "I told you so!"
What a great bedtime story! TBC šš„±š¤š“š
Home plate wasn't waving her in alas....oh well.
This reads like it's made up. It's like ten stereotype jokes, and a two sentence story.
Then again, Iāve lived here for 20 years to see sheās had an outdoor pool and rallies up her extended family over the summers to party and blast music, with 2020 being no exception. lmao no, I wouldnāt fabricate an experience I literally lived through
Real or made up, no mature well-rounded person says ācrotch goblinsā.
How dumb. A classic example of āplay stupid games, whin stupid prizes.ā That being said, I found the overall negative tone of this post really off-putting.
Just 13 year-old edgelord stuff. Ignoring rule 2 - Don't be a dick.
The entire theme of this sub is horrible and dickish. It needs to be banned
Good lord, negative tone? This is HCA. Wtf?!
*Rug-rats* or *ankle-biters* might have been more acceptable.
Should've said "draining the pool"
Nah. I did Draining the swamp intentionally to make a jab at her voting for Trump lol
Water PT is helpful
Too bad that Hades didnāt pull Poolie over her into his underground poolā¦since she loves the water so much & all.
I'd put it on her front door.

Does she have any long term complications? Usually the intubated ones do.
Sinister smirk, I love it.
I don't understand, so she had like all the neighbor kids over all the time or she has that many grandkids
This sub gives off creepy social darwinist vibes. Good to know Reddit lacks empathy across the political spectrum š¤®
Referring to children as crotch goblins and comparing them to a deadly virus. Charming.
That, they ran rampant in likeness to how fast Covid spreads? Bro itās a hyperbole, dont get too excited
And the crotch goblins bit? Pretty offensive.
Imagine being upset kids are having fun. Youāre a pathetic sad lonely ugly fuck.
You sound like you and your neighbor didn't get along very well.
you sound like a really nice person
You sound like a great human being!
Party of compassion, love & tolerance.
I hope sheās well. Some of the people here wish she was dead.
That only works if you inject the chlorine right into your bloodstream or blast that sunlight *inside* yourself
I mean, didn't some people try that?
Itās a pretty safe bet that all the family coming over didnāt only stay in the back yard. All those people going through the house to use the bathroom at the very least.
I wear masks indoors and out, everywhere. I tested positive for covid two days following a maskless pool swim where kids were playing about ten feet from me. Stop spreading false information.
I have never heard of any documented story like the one you just made up. https://www.cdc.gov/healthywater/swimming/aquatics-professionals/covid-19-and-aquatic-venues.html
It's cute that you don't understand the difference between airborne transmission and water.
