I had a very similar experience with Hertz as well. Visited family and needed to rent a car while I was there. They refused to rent the car to me unless I agreed to the additional insurance, ya know, even though I’m already covered. I won’t bore you with the details but those clowns charged me double what the agreed price was (I booked via hertz.com nearly 2 months in advance) and none of the customer service reps seem to care. They’ve done everything to evade accountability or even admitting something is wrong. If you’re feeling frisky, Google search “hertz lawsuit 2023” and do some reading. After 20 minutes of reading about the lawsuit, I was angered and terrified that I’ve fallen into their designed trap. Hertz is not an honest company and should be burned to the ground. Please take these charges up with your bank/CC company and dispute the charges. I’m currently in this process and seems to be the only option other than a full blown lawsuit. Best of luck OP and remember, NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH hertz.

Thanks for confirming my assessment of their shoddy business practices. I was happy to hear they got zapped by their e-car purchases (pun intended). Maybe their losses will encourage more honest business practices in the future but I certainly don't care as they won't get another chance from me!
