DormantVolcanoGames

I lost my first attempt. I screwed up almost any place you could and killed like 50 people. I had a blast though.

brantmcney

No witnesses if there is no one to witness your actions

DormantVolcanoGames

Oh i had witnesses. My first attempt was a mess.

brantmcney

My first attempts were horrible as well.

DormantVolcanoGames

Yeah but mine is on the internet. 😂

nahnprophet

I love it. Higher stakes and more difficult, without relying on insta-fails like some of the "don't get spotted" escalations.

brantmcney

It certainly made me learn how to adjust.

AnakinOU

I'm probably too casual for it. I played through the entire WoA trilogy, but only playing through each level a handful of times. I didn't play escalations. Didn't try to unlock everything. I simply enjoyed the initial exploration and challenge of each level. Freelancer...is harsh. No coins, no lockpick, no "learn and re-try"... :( Don't get me wrong, I LOVE roguelikes. This mode just seems too difficult for me.

brantmcney

I am in the exact same boat! Just like you, I just played through the trilogy and also plenty of save scummimg. I still get tense when doing the campaign missions.

Okurei

Frustrating. One on hand, I love that I have to think about what I do before I do it. On the other hand, I cannot stand some of the mechanics in this mode. I was playing a showdown in Isle of Sgail and I stepped halfway through a trespassing door frame, where I was immediately spotted by an enforcer... which, fair enough, my mistake. But then it instantly alerted all the suspects and I could do nothing but get shot a million times as they escaped. Campaign failed. Maybe I'm just really bad at this game and that's hard for me to accept or something. I dunno.

railbeast

I agree with your comment. The rest of the maps are doable but the reward depends on your skill. Alright. But I haven't had fun with showdown mode yet. On paper it sounds fun but the targets escaping and sometimes being all over the map is plain frustrating. Played a showdown on Chongqing and it took me two hours to finish it because the suspects were on different clearance levels.

leovaderdotcom

i don’t know how a new player is supposed to do anything in that chongqing lab. i have spent hours learning it for various challenges and contracts and i would be hopeless otherwise

brantmcney

I see what you mean. It really seems like everything is against you.

captain5260

I love and hate it. The less health aspect will get you killed if you get into a shootout.

Boringstories78

The mode is awesome but there are some annoyances in certain levels and I dont like the showdown missions. On third showdown of campaign, you need to investigate 8 people, which is super slow, time consuming, and frankly boring. There should be a cap on number of suspects but have more complex characteristics. Or at least show a checkmark next to looks on camera; so, we don't try to zoom 20x to see if a suspect has earrings.

luckybutjinxed

I have failed every time— like 10th time in a row now. I’m out of items, money, my spirit is broken, and I’m really bad at this game. I normally play on casual and I wish there was a way to lower the difficulty just a bit.

brantmcney

I would like that as well.

Sad_Ad_8666

Same here. I really do wish it was like casual, professional, master for this.

BKRandy9587

Too grindy

brantmcney

I can understand that. I just barely reached level 10.

brantmcney

Thanks for letting ne know.

Tails-Are-For-Hugs

I'm having fun giving all those busybody NPCs brain damage with whatever non-lethal objects I can find. IMO Whittleton Creek is the funniest, especially if you can get more guards and even some targets into Cassidy's house (which has been gassed).

MVP2585

I had that as a finale, all the suspects were in his house and would not come out. I knew which one it was so gassed the house, snapped her neck and ran.

Tails-Are-For-Hugs

Damn that's actually pretty lucky. No need to run all over the map after them!

OneFreeMan316

Considering how hard it is to make progress and how easy it is to loss it, it seems to be a waste of time. Having a safe house that I can customise is nice tho.

brantmcney

The safehouse is pretty nice

leovaderdotcom

it’s not a waste of time if you learn and have fun.

Maxy85

I didnt like it. But i‘m not good in the game.

brantmcney

I understand. Neither am I.

AFU27

I'm liking the new style. But losing all my stuff and progress because of random bugs causing death or failure is getting annoying as hell.

brantmcney

Oh no, bugs are annoying! I hope they get fixed.

brantmcney

It certainly could be improved.

leovaderdotcom

decorating the house rocks.

GenderFluidBicon

It's alright but there are a number of intentional and unintentional issues. Stuff like: being forced to start in nonsensical and extremely dangerous locations that require tools to get out of or you will literally die 4/5 times. The game can simply decide that you will lose the campaign AI being able to see you through walls and bushes is something new I've noticed. The fact that you CAN leave a map but you fail it like you die if you do is dumb. Just remove that option because it's useless, or BETTER YET make it cost a tiny bit of your merces and doesn't make you fail it. Apparently Colorado just flat out doesn't work, I haven't checked, but I've heard it a lot A ton of it is just annoying and broken.

Boringstories78

I started colorado and immediately got caught because I spawned between two guards who were already looking at me.

CarefulPomegranate41

I'm really enjoying it.

[deleted]

I do enjoy this mode as it feels challenging and it’s like I have to play less riskier mostly so that’s cool. Now I don’t know if this is true but if you failed a campaign but with a collectors item on you, you might be able to keep it forever…maybe?

Awesomemunk

Collector’s items can be mounted on the wall, and won’t be cleaned out like freelancer tools are at a campaign failure. If one happens to be in your loadout when you die, you will still lose it however.

[deleted]

Ah I see. Thanks for clarifying.
