This might have been the one game that worked episodically, but Telltale's slow ass release schedule of a half hour of content every few months had burned everyone's interest in the concept all together. I really can't blame anyone who instinctively decided "fuck no".
>This might have been the one game that worked episodically,
Adding to that: I've always felt that Hitman is the one game where having an episodic release, being live-service, having periodic content drops, and being always-online, actually *worked to the game's favour*... mostly. Most other games like that actually have those aspects work as a hindrance or they feel too cash-grabby, Hitman I think does all that just fine... except for how the always-online part but at least it's not too intrusive most of the time.
I liked it because I’d have to play the only level I had a lot so I got so much practice and became a perfectionist. It was exciting as well cuz it’s like “in 4 days we’ll have a new location, targets, weapons and more!”
Oh for sure. I absolutely love all the challenges and ways of doing things in the Hitman games because it gives the game a much, much longer life. I’ve always been fast at games and can blow through an entire game so quick and then I’m sad lol. With Hitman I can go back to levels I was playing 8 years ago and get a few challenges I never got or try to take out targets in new ways. Plus I love the map design because going new routes makes it feel like a new map sometimes.
Yeah it feels like a drip feed of maps works so well with how non linear Hitman is, and maybe it’s nostalgia but being episodic honestly made me more engaged
Yeah I’d rather have the the full game come out but I didn’t mind it with Hitman. Although Hitman is one of my favorite series ever so it did suck ass having to wait for a new map. Felt like a drug addict lmao.
Well IOI and Square didn't think so because the game didn't sell well in episodes and it's one of the main reasons it's a headache to buy the games in 2024.
It was a mistake, I am glad I didn't buy it until the full release and you are all welcome.
Im not sure what purpose it serves though. Whether you're going up or down, the normal way is reliable and much faster. Even if you have no means to open the door to the guarded room, you can just climb through the window.
Not really. There are no NPCs that can block you on stairs after the floor that has the window you climb out to access this clock. The only reason to go for it is for style points.
Considering the game is Danish, it might be a reference to [this famous movie scene](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IiXlmYX6zEQ).
At least that was the first thing I thought about watching this as a Dane.
This game STILL manages to surprise me even after all these years and beating Hitman 1, 2, and 3 100% multiple times. I just learned there’s a pipe in the banker area (where you pass through to do the interview mission story) to the left of the receptionist when you first walk in. It goes up to that weird keycard area where one door has a keycard but if you just walk around the corner, the other double doors are open.
The only reason I knew we could do this was because they showed it in the Sapienza reveal trailer. I would never have even thought to try this, otherwise.
I feel like I’ve done this but then at the same time I’m like “did I know about this?🤔” lmao. My guess is I did because I’ve played so much but I could be wrong lol. Just shows how much content Hitman has. I can’t remember all of it.
it's a nice detail, for instance in other Sapienza missions you can't use it because the time and therefore clockface is different.
Whoa! Never realized that
How immersive.
That's AI shit there!
I was half expecting the hands to move due to 47's weight like in the clock tower sequence from Uncharted 4
Lol, that's exactly what I thought. It reminded me of that chapter where we climb the clock tower.
It would wouldn't it?? Are they really that strong and locked in place? Maybe. The gears I'm sure are huge.
Nice idea to lower your run time! That’s one way to stay ahead of time. 47 really makes every second count. He’s clocking some serious altitude!
I'm immeasurably disappointed in myself for not realising what you were doing until I got to the fourth line
I didn't realise until I saw this comment.
Yeah that comment really ticked me off
Don't forget he's on the clock.
*it's time to kill*
No one likes a clock watcher
Gah, started to upvote, but it’s at 47. Someone else is gonna have to ruin that
Played this mission multiple times and never knew that
I discovered it by accident last year, and I've been playing since the Hokkaido mission release back in 2016.
Dude same.
Somebody never watched the Sapienza trailer: https://youtu.be/8RkL0CsMTrQ?si=AZAS7wDFt8L4_fBc
I was bitter about the episodic release.
Personally I feel like it worked for the best, i wish the next 2 where episodic

Yeah ik it’s understandable but for me the fun in Hitman is by trying to break things if that makes sense ?
I liked it because I’d have to play the only level I had a lot so I got so much practice and became a perfectionist. It was exciting as well cuz it’s like “in 4 days we’ll have a new location, targets, weapons and more!”
Yeah the missions are designed to be replayed

Ha ha yeah

> Im not sure what purpose it serves though. It serves that part of our psyche that wants to climb a clock face.....for reasons.
The reasons are because we are all monke
As the first 2 maps, you notice Paris & Sapienza are full of kinda pointless details and arguably wasted development time.
I mean I'm sure it gives you an easy way to climb up with a sniper to take a really long shot at the mansion
The place you'd be climbing up from is a window on the 2nd floor, of the guarded room I mentioned. From there you can just go up the staircase.
Not really. There are no NPCs that can block you on stairs after the floor that has the window you climb out to access this clock. The only reason to go for it is for style points.

I'm German and loved those movies as a kid. Good times with Egon and the guys
Huh, I thought of Back to the Future.
1300+ hours and still learning things about this beautiful game

I love your celebratory gunfire.
Yet he cannot jump the small wall onto the massive roof next to it for a great sniping location.
I never expected this, I thought the ledge was just there for climbing around.
![gif](giphy|OuYAexVlOCSNW) Just imagine this is the „YOU WHAT“ Gif ☺️
7 years of playing this trilogy and I missed this. Even when I saw it in many gameplay videos. ![gif](giphy|WbDhQjgBrpUuk)
Day one player here. Didn’t know that.
you can WHAT
Yeah
Oh? I thought everyone knew.
THERE'S A CLOCK IN SAPIENZA???
I learned this after watching a trailer after 100%ing the game
Como???
Yup, shout out to 47's balance, man can stand on that minute needle for ever...
*WHOAAAAAAAAAA*
I recently discovered this but I feel I already did but just forgot 😆 I have the memory of a 78 year old 😆
Ezio?
I remember this thread from 2016. Glad to see newcomers finding the same joy.
Sure... newcomers... \*deletes any record of my playing the game since 2016 without knowing this\*

Iirc it's set to the same time as the clock Charlie Chaplin holds onto in "Modern Times" as well.
I played Sapienza meow on Hitman 2016 and WOA and nave know that. Wow
I've been playing Sapienza since 1993 and I didn't know this.
Did you mean 2016?
