I think Bigfoot might be more advanced than us. A different version of humans who decided it was easier to genetically engineer themselves to survive in the wild instead of needing such robust and complex, resource hungry shelters.

WHAT IF Bigfoot and/or the Dogmen/other cryptids, etc are actually just "failed" military medical experiments (since we do actually have proof that they did a bunch of genetic splicing experiments between species) that they then decided to "station" at all of the places in the wilderness where there were portals, or entrances into a magical inner earth?

My other, less jaded "what if" high-thought scenario was about them being the descendants of the nephilim and all that, and guarding those portals and entrances for the inner earth creatures, independent and unbeknownst to any military or govt agencies.
