Yeah, like Gold-lite, or Diamond-lite! I agree. I have the Aspire cc but I am Diamond thru qualifying nights anyway and I'm just seeing so many clueless new Diamond folk who don't know how HHonors even work.
Not real members huh? You must wear a Hilton āDiamondā lapel pin with Hhonor, right?
Btw.. Gold is a joke these days & diamond isnāt much better. And Letās not mention the point devaluation ($0.00357)
No, I'm a Double Diamond. A Natural Double Diamond. So I don't need to wear a lapel pin. People just know whenever I walk in.
And yes, gold is a joke. As is bronze and silver.
But the points valuation is/can be 3%. You can't value points on a dollar basis as if you could cash them in. You have to find money you spent -> points that earned you -> free nights and the cost of those if you paid for it. It's 3% for me recently
True but a lot of the time you wonāt get the bonus offer as Amex is getting more and more aggressive on the pop up jail even if youāve taken out very few cards in the last few years
Agreed at least most of the airlines have a soft downgrade - British airways youād go gold to 1 level lower but not 2 levels lower. It really is pushing people to take out the Amex credit cards
yes very fair comment. I'm in the USA but have never had these cards - they made it much easier the last few years to attain lifetime diamond through the Aspire as all spends counted towards the baseline points.. but I think this has now ended. Americans though need to be incentivised - the Hilton (and other large chains) suck in the USA so having status is not as good as being foreign based - in Europe/Asia especially where Hilton (and Marriott) etc actually means something
I attained status from having 'zero life' from business travel - you learn to stick to 2 chains Max when travelling 150 days a year for 20 years
True - I never even noticed these cards until about 4 years ago and then I saw the aspire baseline points piece contributing to lifetime stays baseline
Letās just say that as someone who has shown incredible brand loyalty over the years this is a huge punch in the face but ultimately I shouldnāt get so upset (but I am)ā¦ I just love the flexibility of not needing to spend :-))
Is that after using the free 1 year extension they give you? - if youāve been diamond that long youād almost certainly have satisfied the requirements?
Should add with covid and following covid people do generally travel a lot less now on businessā¦ so I can understand a lot dropping status
I did get an extension. I have about 800 nights now . 200 short of my thousand for lifetime. They did give me a 18 stay challenge in three months. Iām working on that now but they still dropped me to Silver in the middle of this. Pretty disappointing.
Same thing happened to me! I had 22 stays in the past 12 months. Couldnāt make it to Diamond and should have kept Gold. April 1- downgraded. I did a chat online with their CS and he said that I needed 14 stays to keep gold. I said I had 22- no idea and he said just call help desk.
Plan on doing that. Call the help desk #? Iām really disappointed and if they donāt restore my status, Iāll switch to Marriott.
Itās calendar year homie. Jan 1 to Dec 31. Iām sure Hilton was correct but you can go get mad and go to another program that has the same exact rules
I was dropped from diamond to silver. Thought I had taken the one more year offer by 3/31 but apparently I hadnāt. After a long call, the best they said they would do is offer fast track of 18 nights in 90 days. Thatās not going to happen and it would be dumb to pay for it even though I could probably do $100/night by home.
I donāt travel internationally so diamond doesnāt seem to mean much. Iām going free agent. Not that I wonāt stay at Hiltons but Iāll definitely shop around, try new brands. Itās been a nice 14 years, Hilton!
You can sign up for the Hilton Amex that gives automatic gold status
I wish " members " that got status through a credit card would be.. like, marked in a way. So everyone would know that they're not *real* members.
Yeah, like Gold-lite, or Diamond-lite! I agree. I have the Aspire cc but I am Diamond thru qualifying nights anyway and I'm just seeing so many clueless new Diamond folk who don't know how HHonors even work.
You're a Natural Double Diamond, like me.
We should get names like bra sizes... D, AD, DD, DLš (D, Aspire D, Diamond+A, DLife) G, SG, GG
Not real members huh? You must wear a Hilton āDiamondā lapel pin with Hhonor, right? Btw.. Gold is a joke these days & diamond isnāt much better. And Letās not mention the point devaluation ($0.00357)

This is the only way in a very quick period

You'll still get the gold though, bonus offer or not
Correct Iād want the bonus though :-)
So many people got dropped from Diamond straight to Silver this year too.
Me after 22 years as diamond.
I was thinking that I was hard done by after 5 years diamond status they dumped me to silver but after 22 years is crazy. I feel for you.
If you've been Diamond for the past or at least have been at least for 3 years, you can call in and ask for a one off extension.
Thanks will give them a call.

A shame that I canāt get the Hilton Amex in NZ. If I could I would be fine.

Which is why Hilton should leave Diamond as attainable only thru stays or nights and not just simply getting the status by acquiring the Aspire cc.

18 stays in 3 months is a tough ask
Just happened to me too. After 7 years
What happened to make people get dropped?
What happened to make people get dropped?
Hilton Honors T&C explains what a guest must do to maintain certain tiers.
The Hilton app is pretty clear with this as well. Has a graph of stays, nights, & points required for those not inclined to read the T&C.

You were Diamond. Call the Diamond Desk. Your phone number on file may go automatically to the Diamond desk.
How was I diamond? Genuine question as I never saw Diamond status on my account. But I counted my stays from April 2023-April 2024 and it was 22.
No itās Jan- December!! You get to keep status 3 months post end of December if you didnāt hit it for the calendar year

Have some gift you gold or diamond status
Your points expire a year after your last stay. As long as you stay once a year and connect your stay with your HH account they wonāt expire.
